Riku slowly and calmly walked down the streets of Konoha the village like any other item was susceptible to wear and tear. But like any other item constant maintenance would see the village looking right as rain again. Riku took this little assignment as a way to service Konoha as well as get a little extra work in while he waited for a squad and sensei. " So this is where I get my assignment...." Riku looked over the tall brown building that was bordered by several smaller ones before he slowly entered. He searched until he spotted a man with a sledgehammer taking swings at the old brick wall breaking chunks off.
Riku approached clearing his throat slightly. " Hello I'm here to help with the wall repairs." The man looked up and smiled before speaking in a kind gentle voice. " Thanks for answering the add. Grab a sledge and get cracking at this here wall. When that's all done we have to build another one." Riku nodded and after putting on a hard hat in case of falling bricks he picked up the sledgehammer and gave it a heft at the wall with a resounding thud and crack. Riku repeated this process where he was until that section of the wall broke inwards and fell over. The man came over and gave an approving nod which made Riku smile a bit. It was nice to be appreciated by someone.
After a few more sections fell the man called for them to take a break. Riku hadn't planned on working so hard and wasn't even prepared with a lunch. The man gave Riku half of a sandwich and a water bottle which Riku took and thanked him several times for it. Riku looked around at what they had left to do. There was the few sections of wall left then to build the new one in its place. Riku turned to the man as they ate. " Are we to build the wall by ourselves?" The man finished swallowing before he answered. " No we have a team to build the wall your job is to ferry the cement to us from outside." Riku nodded before they finished their lunch in silence.
After they were rested they put back on the hard hats and took positions Riku on the right the man on the left and together they began to beat down the remains of the wall. After the last piece fell the man went outside and came back with a few men who all took up positions with fresh bricks and scrapers to apply the cement. The man told Riku it was outside being made by an earth Justu user he would put it in a wheelbarrow and Riku would have to cart it inside. Nodding with his task understood Riku went outside picking up the first filled wheelbarrow and pushed it with some effort inside and the men began using up to make the wall.
After about half an hour Riku was back to being tired again. But the wall was only about a quarter of the way done. Riku took a deep breath and began to push himself moving back outside bringing in wheelbarrows then back out again with empty ones picking up the pace allowing the men to also build at a faster rate. Riku began to gain on the filler's speed he was impressed at Riku's determination to get done. Faster and faster he went until finally as he was going to get a new wheelbarrow he was stopped by the man who gave him the job. The man was smiling and laughing handily. " Kid we still have 3 full wheelbarrows in here. The walls almost done and you did a really amazing job helping us. Take the rest of the day off and treat yourself to something nice, you've earned it." Riku laughed along with the man despite how tired he was and thanked the man for the opportunity to help the village before he waved and was off to home for a warm meal and a soft bed.
