Round Two: Biru vs. Sachihiro I0Z7lKB

An arena covered wall to wall in tall grass, seven feet high. As contestants enter, they will immediately notice their vision is impaired by the thick reeds of grass, however, there is something more at work. Combatants cannot see more than 1m around themselves with vision alone, heavily obscuring one another from view, but any movement in this grassy arena causes extremely loud rustling as the grass is pushed to and fro, allowing shinobi to pinpoint one another through sound. Whenever a shinobi moves in this arena, the direction they are in relative to their opponent is immediately revealed.

The soft patting sounds of Biru's feet echoed down the hallway to the entrance of his next round of combat. Seeing a bright light at the end of the tunnel Biru could assume that this arena was also out in the open like his previous one. He however didn't hear the sounds of train cars passing by which made him feel a little better. Hopefully this arena had solid ground to stand on. It wouldn't be much longer after that thought that  Biru walked from the nearly pitch black darkness of the tunnel out in to a bright area where the sun was nearly straight up in the sky signaling it was nearly mid day. He expected the slight period of blindeness as his eyes adjusted to the light, but what he wasn't expecting were the thick reeds of grass growing past his head at what he guessed was about 7 feet tall. Looking upward at an angle he could see the arena walls to his right and left for a certain distance before they trailed off behind the tall grass. Along with that he could see the entire arena was surrounded by spectators eadgerly awaiting for the actionn to start.  A slight breeze rustled throught the grass making it sway slightly and giving off a calming noise.

Biru knew this match was going to have to be played differently than the last. Holding his hands out Biru began to condense water molecules in the air in to long thin strips of water and then began to freeze them. Creating 4 senbon made of ice in each hand. Biru would pocket the 4 he had created in his right hand and step forward in to the brush. The moment he pushed through the grass he noticed how unnaturally loud it was. "Great" he muttered to himself this grass was going to give away any attempt he made at being stealthy. The only way to get around that for Biru would be to throw so much noise at his opponent he wasn't sure which one to react to. Using only his right hand Biru  performed several hand seals in rapid succession before pouring his chakra in to the surrounding area. Around Biru water would begin forming in to 6 humanoid figures that quickly tranformed to be exact replicas of Biru. With Biru standing in the middle and 3 of his clones standing on either side of him the noise that was created with all of the clones forming amongst the grass was very loud and easily gave away his position.

Now it was time to play the mental game, Biru sent two of his clone from the right in an arc out toward the right side of  the arena to their maximum range. Doing the exact same with 2 more clones from his left a few seconds later Biru attempted confuse his opponent. Lastly Biru reached over to the nearest clone to him and placed his hand on its shoulder transfering some chakra in to it. Had he done this in his last match perhaps he would have won, but that's what these exams are for. He learned from his defeat and was determined to succeed this time around. His village and his clans reputation depeded on it. Even more importantly his own reputation and pride hung in the balance like a string ready to snap with this fight. If he were to lose again and be eliminated from the exams so early it would crush Biru and all the confidence he had gained in the past few months of training.

To his surprised, upon entering the field the boy was surround by a field of grass that vastly surpassed his own height. Looking above as the peaked nearly three feet above him, he noticed the major rustling that he had caused upon moving. No area to see any further, he tried to make the best of what he had as he attempted to look through his limited range of vision to no avail. He tussled the grass and reeds as he squatted down, waiting for his enemy to make the first move. As when he initiated, things didn’t seem to turn out for the best.

“There” he figured as a single point rustled about 100 meters ahead of him. It was a long run and there was no need for him to rush. Looking aimlessly ahead simply relying on the movement of his enemy, his eyes now shifted quickly as the rustling began to multiply quite exponentially. The rustling was so obvious to their approach it was difficult to not think avoiding the issue. The rustling had appeared so suddenly around the initial source it was either a movement jutsu or clones. The original soruce of the rustling soon basked by the surrounding noises.

Two on the right

Two on the left

They were approaching in an arcing motion but came to a stop. Were they waiting? It was a lot to think about but his opponent had wisely decided to disorient him with the noise. Shifty eyed and a little nervous, he calmed himself down as it seemed whatever jutsu his enemy had performed had a limited range. Much like his. Clones? Maybe.

Sachi made his move, following his opponents as he too approached in an arc formation, alone. Though not too keen on his shadow clones, figuring they’d be too much of a drain on him. For now he’d go for a more meager approach, something that would provide a more favorable advantage to the blinding shrubbery. As he moved, he was getting further away from two of the rustling sources and closer to another two. Once he was at a comfortable range, the boy finally weaved the ram sign and focused his chakra onto the ground. As he made his final contact he created a fissure that violently tore open the earth. Radically moving the rustling grass apart and creating a considerable amount of noise as it struck 20 meters forward, 5 meters wide and 3 meters deep.

Creating a sort of ‘clearing’ of 20 meters with a 9 foot drop. The earth crumbled just below him as he leaped into the scar, masking his rustled movement under the disturbance of the quake.

The boy was now looking up from his own fissure. Undisturbed by the tall grass above, he waited for any further signs of rustling as his opponents moved about.

“Not yet”
OOC: Made a lil diagram. Am I correct in thinking this is how we're both approaching?:

Biru's clones had just finished moving toward their designated area when he and all of his clones began to hear the rustling of what he could only assume was his opponent. from the direction that the rustling was coming from an the where it was heading it seemed his opponent was heading toward Biru's right at nearly the same arc as his clones were. Then out of nowhere the sound of crushing rock and ripping roots could be heard. The clones that headed off to Biru's right could feel a slight quake in the ground as it seemed his opponent was ripping the ground apart several meters ahead of them. Then nothing could be heard after that torrent of noise. Biru wasn't sure what the other ninja  had done but he no longer heard the rustling of the grass and he still felt his link to al 6 of his clones meaning none of them had been attacked and destroyed. Waiting for and other few moments to see if he could pick up on any more sounds to give away his opponents plans Biru still heard nothing.

Biru then gave the command to move forward to his clones. He and the two clones with him would begin heading directly toward the area they had heard the earth breaking jutsu come from. The two clones closest to the area would head further toward their right and forward attempting to circle around to the back right side of whatever had created all the noise from just a moment ago. The two clones on Biru's left would head straight forward and then make a sharp right heading straight for the center of where his opponent had last been heard. With Biru and all of his clones closing in around the area they had last heard Sachihiro they began to slow down and prepare themselves for whatever was ahead of them. Slightly pushing through the brush the first Biru to see what had been created by their opponent was just on the southern corner of the fissure.

The area of affect for whatever justu had been performed by Sachihiro wass massive compared to anythinng Biru could do. He had to have moved what was tens of thousands of pounds of earth to create this clearing. Halting just at the edge of the dropoff that Biru looked down in to the large ditch that had been created and saw his opponent.  He was only a small child, less than 5 feet tall with oddly colored grey hair and eyes. If he didn't look so youthful and if they had walked by each other on the street Biru could have easily mistaken the lad for a little old lady. However none of that really mattered to him right now as this young boy was had displayed plenty of ability just in creating this fissure. Biru would not take him lightly and now that they could see each other theit fight could truely begin. The Biru that was on the edge of the fissure Jumped down in to the pit with Sachihiro. The other six Biru would slowly move forward close enough to the fissure that they could see what was happening, but not fully to the edge of the pit as they stood a meter from the edge still within the tall grass.

The Biru that had hopped in to the pit with Sachihiro landed softly as he looked at his opponent and the wraps around his face began to slightly shift. "I am Biru Yuki of Kirigakure. Pleased to meet you." he said in a soft slightly deep voice. Biru then nodded and took his fightinng stance. He slid his right foot back and ebnt both knees slightly. His left arm was then placed out in front of himself still holding the four senbon from earlier in that hand. Biru's right hand was tucked back tightly against his body with a clenched fist and his body was turned in a way that left little room to easily get past Biru's guard in a full frontal assault. Biru waited for Sachihiro to either respond of make his move. In either case the other six Biru that were spread evenly around the fissure now would be watching and ready to enter the fray at a moments notice.

As the towering young man leaped in, Sachi was surprised at his forward approach. Almost delighted, he nodded at his formalities. The fissure he had made wasn’t just for himself, but rather as a means to mute out the annoying sounds brought by the many faults in their strategies. Too much rustling for his taste, but it seemed in his best interest to bring a more face-to-face confrontation. No need for the two to be constantly encircling each other and along with that, he didn’t want the further confusion of having to track various sources of sound.

“Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you” the boy smiled back and returned the fighting gesture, keeping his fists up and taking a more traditional boxing stance, “I’m Sachihiro”

A Yuki? He had met two in the past and they had to be quite powerful adversaries. He looked at the four senbons in his opponents hands and narrowed his eyes at the thoughts of if his intentions. He seemed quite ready to take him on in physical combat, so the young Senju made sure to not underestimate his opponent’s abilities. He would take a more cautious approach in combat and figured a head on approach wouldn’t be wise. Especially with his guarded, weaponized stance. He had no weapon techniques of his own, but he figured he could work his way around the disadvantage.

As the strategy took into motion, he heard the former rustlings of the clones just leering above him, they seemed to be barely peeking out. Keeping a close eye on the assumed original.

They must be water, ice or wind clones. He made a head count of the six, being sure to allocate their positions as he let out a sigh of relief. He had an idea of the Yuki’s strat, though not cemented. With this fissure, the noisiness of the grass would act as less of a distraction. If things got rough with the ambush of the clones above, an obvious approach, he would be sure to find a counter to it. However, for now he was fixated on the Genin before him.

He’d have to be careful with any water techs the young man would throw his way.

“I’m sorry about this” the boy sheepishly smiled, feeling a bit guilty at performing the first move against such a well-mannered equal. He knew it wasn't going to be a painful jutsu but nonethelss His habitual kindness brought him to apologize.

He leaped backwards just about 7 meters away from his opponent whilst weaving a set of hand signs. Upon landing, the boy placed his palms onto the ground as plant matter began to emerge from the ground below. Stretching outward and forward to its maximum range of twelve meters, with a 6 meter radius. Covering the entirety of the floors in front and around his opponenet. Reaching up onto the walls as well.

Had the enemy decided to approach him at their full speed, they would be injured. However, if he would decide choose to move in slower, the boy would be allowed to more easily predict and maneuver out of any strikes.
Upon the end of his jutsu, the boy then threw a kunai at his opponent and made sure to keep an eye on the ‘clones’ above.

After the exchanged pleasantries between Biru and Sachihiro the battle began immediately. Sachi began weaving hand signs and Biru burst forward toward him just as he had finished the hand signs and jumped backwards. As Sachi was jumping backwards Biru threw his nearly translucent ice senbon that were in his left hand directly at where Sachi was goind to land. A thick thorny brush began to flow from the ground around Biru and as he ran through the jutsu it tore at his clothes and scraped his skin enough that it caused very faint bleeding across his arms and legs which took  the brunt of the prickly attack. That wasn't all that his opponent had launched at him though shortly after the thicket had arisen from the ground Sachi threw a kunai at Biru. It appeared to simply be a regular kunai with jutsu attached to it so Biru simply side stepped it to his left as he was nearing the exit of the jutsu that had done a slight amount of damage to him. As it began to passed him Biru reached his right hand out and caught the kunai in mid flight by the handle. He would now use his opponents own weapon against him.

Exitting the radius of Sachi's jutsu Biru would continue forward towards his opponent unimpeded. The scatches all across his body stung slightly, but it was nothing compared to what he had endured the previous match. Now was his chance to end this fight and move on to the next round. Approaching Sachi as quickly as he could with the kunai in his right hand Biru pulled his right hand back as if he were about to attempt to stab Sachi. Then he immediately dropped down to the ground and used the momentum of pulling his arm back to swing his body around and extended his right leg outward performing a sweeping kick and trying to either knock Sachi to the ground or get him on the defensive by making him retreat back toward the edge of the fissure. For now Biru was content with relying on his taijutsu skills as he assumed that he had the advantage in the area based on the size and age difference between the two boys. If he was proven wrong however he would have to resort to trying to end the match as quickly as possible by any means neccessary.

The boy reacted accordingly at the approaching Genin.

He had seen ice senbon flung just below him. Keeping a small assumption on its landing coordinates landed in a rather unorthodox way as to avoid stabbing his feet on them. Though the targets were small and easy to avoid when landing as they were such thin weapons, two managed to poke his left leg. Just below his calf, having him twitch his foot accordingly at the slight sting of the cold and push his foot forward as to not force it in.

Impressed at the catch of his Kunai and giving a little approving nod, the boy reached for another just in his leg pouch. Figuring fending his weapon would be easier with… another one of his weapons. The boy looked down at the man’s somewhat tattered legs and briefly looked up at the clones. A mental note for the future, as if to differentiate him from the unscathed clones. He wasn’t sure how he would fend against the surprisingly and tenaciously quick opponent but he figured he’d try his chance at Taijutsu.

As Biru reached closed quarter combat, the boy got into a defensive pose. He wasn’t stopping and it was better to take him like this for the time being. He chose not to strike, seeing that the clones from above might strike down at any moment and take advantage of their numbers. Though the opponent may have feinted his attack and taken him by a surprise, their equal ranking combat skills helped the lad. The giant figure squatted down and was now performing a sweeping kick.

Think fast! The boy thought. Jumping in place would simply raise the risk of him landing on the senbons just blow, so he took a small leap just a few feet back. A few meters shy from the wall behind him, he made sure not to get to carried away and find his back literally against the wall. This was his fissure after all. No need to forget about how he made it.

The bigger question in the boy’s mind was why he hadn’t used his clones yet. Why make them watch? Did he want to make this an even fight? Questions for later. The boy got back into a defensive pose upon landing. Focusing purely on the defense as his opponent gave away his use of taijutsu through his movement and forwardness to partake in close quarters. Half tempted to leave the pit, though that would entail him having to combat the clones above. A task that would require too much stamina. For now he thought the best approach would be none. Rather he would have Biru approach him, find out more of what his plans were.

If the assault were to grow in numbers, the Senju knew he would be at a disadvantage. However for now, two Genin fighting hand to hand would bring out nothing more than an exchange in blows. A risk he wasn’t sure he wanted to take… yet. At least with Biru’s ‘lower’ approach.

He was fast Biru was thinking to himself. This kid can actually keep up with him in taijutsu as well as his impressive jutsu capability. Things weren't looking so good for Biru in attempting to take Sachi on by himself. If he couldn't get past his opponents defenses soon he would have to resort to bring in at least a couple of clones in to the fray. After Biru's leg swept under his opponent who lept backwards further toward the wall Biru would stand up and watch Sachi. He could tell the boy was uneasy about being surrounded by his clones and wasn't able to keep an eye on them all at the same time. Having then evenly spread out around the fissure watching closely it would be nearly impossible for Sachi to leave this hole without having to face at least one of them head on. To test his opponents nerves even more Biru gave a slight nod signalling his clones. They all began moving around the fissure keeping the gaps between them tight. The rustling of the grass was loud as it echoed down in to the fissure.

Surely this would make it even harder for Sachi to keep track of his clones as they were constantly moving and creating noise all around the both of them now. Only a moment after his clones began moving and creating their distraction Biru flung himself forward again. This time he held his right hand with the kunai out in front of him attempting to spear the boy directly in his mid section with his own kunai. While he burst forward he reached his left hand in to his back pouch and grabbed ahold of the 3 of the 4 ice senbon he had pocketed earlier. Holding them between his fingers like claws Biru would keep that hand to his side. If his opponent attempted to get around Biru and maneuver behind him or create more space between them Biru would either swipe at him or launch the senbon in an attempt to cut him off his route. While all of this was going on Biru's clones would be looking for the perfect opportunity to throw  4 of their senbon directly in to Sachi's back. Only releasing their attack if Sachi fully exposed his blind side toward one of them. It would be a delicate dance for any shinobi of the their rank to keep track of the opponent right in front of them and the 6 clones circling them all at the same time. Was Sachihiro up to the challenge?

The boy a little fiddle now at Biru’s assault, still on the defense. Had chosen this route of ‘pacifism’ as a way of avoiding opening any blind spots to his opponents. Still at the ready for any of the leaping clones above. Becoming annoyed at the rustling and skittish movement of the nearby enemies. Biru seemed to be making headway into doing his best to cornering the boy, or at least forcing him to move upward and away from him. As to be bombarded by the clones above. He kept a close eye on the clones, as the rustling continued and he simply nodded at the intrusion.

However, he was in his element. A taijutsu user like Biru needed to use the ground as much to their advantage. He need to think fast, as any further defensive attacks, however effective would soon bring the unwelcomed of his clones. Sure he had made this fissure to gain a better lay of his opponent, though it seemed he had already gotten what he needed. At this point, the pit would just become disadvantageous to him. Surrounding himself with the enemies he saw there wasn’t much of a way out of this fight besides up. However. Earth.

At the moment he saw he had but few options. Either take his opponent head on and see what other tricks was up his sleeve or deal with the thing that have been bothering him since the beginning, the noise. The ‘nod’ had made them go into a train-like formation. Though loud it was easy to read and helped in the accuracy of the rustling’s tracking. Had they chosen to separate a bit more and evenly disperse themselves throughout the fissure, he might’ve second guessed it though now was a better time than enemy.

The boy parried with his opponent the last weapon strikes, had they chosen to hit each other there was no avoiding a cut or bruising on both ends. The boy in his opportunity to defend, chose to hold his breath and immediately submerged underneath the earth. Away from the sight of the enemies, however still very aware of its noisy surroundings. Able to hear the feint rustlings from above the boy smiled as he quickly dug up and beneath the fissures edges, following the noise of the last trailing clone. He decided to stay submerged just a little longer, in case the opponent would decide to ‘stay still.’

Again the boy evaded Biru's attack with a simple parry of the kunai and side stepped the senbon he held in his left hand. This wasn't neccassarily a bad thing for Biru unntil he realised what was happening immediately after the missed attack. Sachi quickly sunk down in to the ground beneath the fissure. Biru released his senbon at Sachi as he was sinking, but they didn't make it in time to injure him before he slipped completely away. The ice senbon stuck in to the ground and now the idiocy of Biru's plan had finally sunk in. He had his opponent right were he wanted him and instead of attempting to finish the match right then and there he allowed his opponent an opportunity to escape. A bit of frustration along with paranoia began to kick in for Biru as he had now way of knowing when or where his opponent would resurface and what would happen when he did.

The only thing Biru could do was wait and try to react to whatever was going to happen. He would make sure he was as prepared as possible though. Giving the command for his clones to come to him 5 clones would leap from the edge of the fissure and down in to the pit with him. Leaving one of the clones up above to keep an eye out from a higher vantage point. As the other 5 clones landed in the pit with Biru they all  began to scramble about attempting to confuse Sachi as to which one was the real Biru. Biru wasn't very familiar with earth type jutsu but he was sure that his opponent had to have some sort of way to sense where his opponent was while under ground. The only thing he could think of was vibrations in the ground and if they all began moving at once perhaps in the best case scenario it could throw his opponent off. However at worst it would do nothing and Biru would stillbe at a disadvantage.

All of the Biru's in the fissure stopped at once in a circle right near the end of the fissure that Sachi had taken himself under ground. Waiting for his opponent to strike Biru would grow nervous. He knew if his opponent attacked him from under ground he would have less than a second to react and escape. He had his escape plan set up since before he even met Sachi, but he wasn't sure he would be quick enough to deploy it. It all came down to this final moment. Most likely if Biru was caught in whatever his opponent was preparing it would be the end of the fight for him. "Time to see if I have what it takes." he mumbled to himself before pulling the last senbon he had in his pocket out with his left hand ready for whatever was to come.

Just a few meters below the earth, the boy immediately clasped his hands once more, molding the earth around him to better fit his movement. Though limited, it was just enough to pull of the one hand seal needed. Still holding his breath as the surge of chakra needed coursed through his body, vastly enhancing his sense. Pitch black and unable to see, he was able to sense every single thing making contact with the earth he was in. He concentrated and began counting, viewing the single point in the fissure as Biru, or the better yet, the original.

He felt the next six clones above him, scatter about as they adjusted themelves, as five leapt out and predictably landed just by the original. Though still knowing where the original was, they stomped around, scattering about. Though not scrambling his tremor sense, it would make it harder to find the original. Their random movements less like an irritating jackhammer and more of a soft patter it was more that he couldn’t focus just one. It was more like trying to find one card shuffled in a small deck of five. Sure he could take the chance and attempt to find the right one, but he didn’t have the proper mind to do that. The scattering did a better job of ‘losing’ him amongst the twelve feet frittering about.

The boy smirked at the thought of how they must’ve looked on the surface, not being to hold back his juvenile humor. Regardless, going for the bunch would be a high risk and low reaward. Whether or not he got the original wouldn’t be worth it if there were another five surrounding him, ready to pounce. Plus… there was that one at the top keeping an eye out. If he was keeping a lookout, he would be prone to being seen. Though maybe if he did it quick enough, there wouldn’t be too much trouble.
Without a moments notice, the boy bared no mind  to the five stomping Biru’s and headed straight for the one at the fissure’s edge. One down with a low risk would give a better chance. He knew clones didn’t take a lot to finish and it was best to take one down as to waste his chakra. The boy’s hands jolted out just at the clone’s ankles, ripping him down into the earth and appearing just behind it. The clone probably having made a sound by then, immediately giving away his position, the boy saw it best to hide. Just after coming out, he made quick strike to the vulnerable opponent just below him, dissipating it into a splash and performing his hand seal and ducking. Having been seen by then.

“Hidden Mist!” the boy cried, as fog thick fog began surround the two genin. Sachi hiding himself within the mists as it blanketed the surrounding grass and most of the fissure.

A few moments passed and Biru along with 5 of his clones had managed to move around a bit and get in to a circular formation. It seemed perhaps his enemy had run off until he and the other clones heard a commotion from above them. It was the look out that had been attacked by his opponent. Not particulary surprised by this Biru knew either he would be the target if his opponent knew exactly where he was or the loner would be the target. Having been watching the clone on the edge of the fissure as his clone was dragged down in to the ground up to its head Biru raised his left hand as fast as he could releasing the single senbon in it for Sachi who was just now fully emerged from the ground. Then shooting his chakra in the same direction of his opponent Biru formed 8 ice senbon in mid air only about a meter away from Sachi. They surrounded his position and flew toward his opponent at maximum speed from all angles attempting to turn Sachhiro in to a human pin cushion.

While Biru made his attack all 5 of his surroundinng clones lept in to the air just as he was throwing the first senbon from his left hand. Each throwing the 4 senbon in their hands in the same direction as well. Then when reaching the peak of their jump they would all raise their right hand to their mouths. By this time Sachi would have already been bombarded by the 29 senbon launched in his direction. Whether any of them made contact however was unknown to him though as his opponent, from the hidden leaf village, had learned the hidden mist technique. A staple of Biru's village yet one he hadn't yet learned to master himself. This wasn't going to be good as he had no way of knowing where his opponent was inside of the mist and surely if Sachi had this technique he had a way of tracking someone inside of it.

It was now or never for Biru at this point. As his clones reached the peak of their jump and the mist was just now begining to encompass them all 5 of them released their prepared technique. Spewing jets of water straight forward a wall of water would begin to form as these powerful streams all reached their maximum distance of 12 meters. Plowing over much of the tall grass that was at the edge of the  fissure and hopefully engulfing Sachihiro along with all of  the grass. The streams of water would subside and if the mist weren't there everyone watching would be able to see that for about 15 meters of the length of the fissure and 7 meters from the edge would be a mess of mud and grass. Biru's clone that had been pulled under ground was for sure destroyed as he could feel the link to it severed just as he and his clones launched their attack. Once the other 5 clones landed back in the pit with him Biru released the justu keeping them formed and regained the remaining chakra from them as he was nearly out of the chakra he had left. Now sitting in the bottom of the fissure alone engulfed in the hidden mist technique of his opponent Biru simply waited standing still for either the mist to dissipate or for his opponent to launch his counter attack and most likely sieze control of this battle for good.

ROUND TWO DEADLINE HAS BEEN REACHED

Round One: Sachihiro versus Biru. It has been determined by staff that, from the information present and available, Biru has no good options for dealing with the zone obscuring/sensory combination. Sachihiro has a plethora of means to block and can utilize the terrain to his advantage.

It is decided that Sachihiro wins the round.
