Maikumaru
A-rank
- Mission:
Mission name: If It Ain't Broke....
Mission rank: B.
Objective: Dissolve a hippodraming ring.
Location: Market District.
Reward: 500 Ryo +3 EP.
Mission Description: The initial matches have been so uninteresting as to arouse suspicion - a few exceptionally skilled or lucky combatants are cleaning house with almost no resistance. The average audience member might see a real fight, but more experienced eyes know that the participants are successively holding back against a single opponent. The payouts are less than conspicuous, and sources have traced the group to a specific inn that they’ve completely booked.
Mission Details: The profiteers of this operation aren’t ninja, but are exceptionally well-hidden. You can either infiltrate their ‘place of business’ and organize a formal arrest or take matters into your own hands. If you take the stealth approach and attempt to gather concrete evidence, you’ll need a stealth technique of A-rank or higher to evade notice. The three guard ninja present all have B-3 stats and a combined command of all the elemental libraries. Defeating the trained combatants will lead the illicit gamblers to surrender themselves if they haven’t fled already - you will have to round them up yourself if this is the case.
Maikumaru exited the stands of one of the Exam Arenas. He felt a horrible taste in his mouth. That fight was one of the most egregious he had ever seen. It was so...tamed, for what it was. A string of fights had been very...unbalanced. A particular opponent, Naikeniki, had been facing many opponents. Interestingly enough, Maikumaru saw that he was...not a good fighter. During his hand to hand combat engagements with his opponents, he left so many opponents that it was laughable. He specialized in jutsu that created weapons out of elements. Maikumaru doesn’t know too much about using weapons to fight other than gauntlets. But he has faced enough opponents who had used weapons enough to know when someone has exceptional skill. And he was far from exceptional. Maikumaru placed his hand on his chin. Something was...not right. Naikeniki’s opponents however, such as a boy who used puppetry, specifically with toys, had seemed to be throwing away their opportunities. There was so much that could be done, Maikumaru felt offended by watching. He couldn’t help but feel that they were holding back. He shook his head. While standing outside of the stadium, he placed his hand on his chin. It seemed like something that needed to be investigated. The corners of his mouth separated, turning into a large smile.
It has been such a long time since he had solved a case. He had been spending most of his time fighting than anything else. Maikumaru first looked at the possibilities. Could there be someone paying off the genin to throw their matches? It was a likely scenario. It could be intimidation that drives them. Being one of the biggest events of the year for Genin to show the world what they are made of only to throw a match; Maikumaru was sickened by the very idea.
He would have to go and find one of the “defeated” Genin, and interrogate them.
Maik was on the move, as he began to walk away from the Stadium. But he stopped yet again. This seemed like an opportunity. He knew that the Genin of Iwagakure could use some experience. He was always supportive of making them more worldly. Maikumaru continued to walk, making his way towards the training grounds. He looked around to get a nice hold of all the Genin there, to see who was brandishing the Iwagakure symbol.
