Clan History
The Kanetsu are a difficult people to pin down in terms of origin. It can be suspected that they find their roots in Tsuchi no Kuni, yet families and bloodlines of users have been observed in various other shinobi villages throughout history. It goes without saying that the largest conglomerate of these lava-spewing individuals come from and currently reside within Iwagakure no Sato, or other surrounding Tsuchi no Kuni territories.

In the recent era, the Kanetsu owe their organization to one Kanetsu, Ōshima. Under his guidance and authority, the disorganized masses of the Kanetsu bloodline were brought together under one proverbial roof in Iwagakure, where they worked in tandem to cultivate their abilities and distribute independently gathered information with one another. It was not without bloodshed or conquest, for his efforts were far from peaceful and his methods even farther from morally paragon, yet they are widely regarded as having been necessary to unite the scattered bloodline into an officially recognized clan of Iwagakure.

Kekkei Genkai Name: Lava Release

Kekkei Genkai Description:
Members of the Kanetsu clan are capable of utilizing the advanced element known as Yōton (溶遁; 熔遁, literally meaning Lava Release) by combining their two base element components: Katon and Doton. The ability to manipulate the properties of earth utilizing Fire Nature chakra allows the user to manifest Yōton techniques in one of three different forms, all of which are available to every Kanetsu member.

• Lava/Magma: The most common form of Lava Release techniques manifest themselves as molten or semi-molten rock. Techniques in this form gain +1 rank effectiveness when interacting with normal Doton techniques, which are bested by the superior heat of the lava or magma.
  
• Rubber: The second of the forms that Lava Release techniques can be manifested as is elastic, versatile vulcanized rubber. Techniques in this form gain +1 rank effectiveness when interacting with Raiton techniques, due to the rubber acting as an insulator.
  
• Ash: The third and final form that Lava Release techniques can manifest as is thick, volatile vulcanized ash. The properties of the ash make them excellent at clouding both ocular senses as well as chakra signatures, requiring techniques one rank higher than the ash to see through or locate the user within.
  

Additionally, the rank of Yōton is always equal to the lowest of its constituent elements.

Drawbacks:

• Lava/Magma: Suiton techniques receive +1 rank effectiveness when interacting with the lava or magma. When a Lava/Magma technique is successfully cooled by a water release technique, the lava/magma technique becomes obsidian and can be used as normal earth.
  
• Rubber: Ice and Acid techniques receive +1 rank effectiveness when interacting with the rubber. The former will freeze the rubber and shatter it, while the acid will eat through it with ease.
  
• Ash: Fūton techniques receive +1 rank effectiveness when interacting with the ash, which will blow it away.
  
  
• Kanetsu members must take the Hesitant (Specialization) negative characteristic, which cannot be balanced. Further members of this clan cannot have a fourth element.
  
• Kanetsu members begin with both of the constituent elements of Yōton (Katon and Doton) at C-Rank.
  
• Kanetsu members are especially vulnerable to cold. When exposed to cold environments for more than 2 posts, they will suffer -1 tier penalties to both speed and reaction time, which stack for each post they remain without warmth, up to -4 tiers(-1 rank). It takes 1 post of being one meter within a source of warmth(fire, lava, etc) to remove 1 tier of cold debuff.
