Clan History: The Kanetsu clan was one of, if not the most feared clan in the northwest of the Shinobi world. They were Lavamancers, individuals with the ability to generate and manipulate lava and protoplasmic ash. They used this ability to take the earth and lava of the land now known as the Earth Country and use it as their weapon. When in battle, they were infamously bloodthirsty, and would, after ensuring a victim couldn't escape, ensure their incineration was as slow and painful as possible. When Iwagakure was founded, the Kanetsu were one of the chair members, and their raw power and fury earned them a respected position among the Iwagakure army, as both warriors and tacticians.

Kekkei Genkai Description: It gives the members of the clan the ability to create Lava Release, or Yōton, by combining Earth and Fire. The temperature of the fire used can be modified to allow the user to create either molten rock or vulcanized rubber. Earth Release allows the clan members to alter the melting point of the rock, as well. [Yōton counts as a Kanetsu's Tertiary Element; it ranks up automatically to the rank of the lowest constituent element. So, if a Kanetsu had S-rank Doton but B-rank Katon, their Yōton would be B-rank. This Advanced Element ranks up automatically with the constituent elements; it can be trained to SS in this manner.] They have naturally hot bodies, meaning burns are less effective against them, reducing the effectiveness of heat-based techniques by -1 rank and degree of burning.

Yōton receives +1 against Raiton Techniques as it acts as an insulator, its liquid but thick form providing a horrible conductor.

Drawbacks:

• Kanetsu clan members  begin with their primary and secondary element at C rank, the rank of their lava release is equal to the lowest rank of their two parent elements [eg, if a Kanetsu clan member has S rank Katon and B rank Doton, their Yōton is considered B rank.]
  
• Water attacks are effective against the Lava based techniques of the Kanetsu and have a powerful advantage when clashing, giving the water +1 rank of power against lava techniques. For example, an S rank lava technique can be cancelled out by a B rank water technique. Of course, these only turn the jutsu into obsidian; the Yōton then acts like Doton.
  
• Members of the Kanetsu have naturally hot bodies. When wet, or when exposed to naturally cold climates or techniques that make the atmosphere colder, members of the Kanetsu clan begin to move slower and cramp, reducing their Reaction Time and movement Speed by one tier. This increases at the second, fourth, and fifth posts by another tier.
  
• The Kanetsu clan members also tend to dedicate themselves to their specialties to the point of avoiding diversity. Kanetsu clan members cannot learn a fourth specialty, nor can they learn a fourth element[Their Yōton is their third].
