Here we go again… 15 to 1, all of them are using a rusty sword. So far, they’ve only shown basic strikes. Still, 15 to 1…” The crossbow hooked to his back would be helpful if he could get some space between him and his prowling enemies. They circled him, it would appear that Kenji was prey, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He was surrounded, with a radius of 7 meters separating him and the Seven Bell pawns. In one motion he flicked two shuriken from his back pouch and sent them in an arching path to one of the shinobi, the two shuriken would clash though a few feet away from the man’s face and ricochet to the two men next to him, resulting in the man to the left and to the right of the perceived target going down already. Also right as the clashed he threw a kunai straight for the same guy, masking it behind the sparks and collision of the previous shuriken, by time he saw the subsequent kunai it was too late.

The remaining 12 men took turns charging him. Kenji would parry the first man’s futile attempt and punish him with a swooping counter that cleaved through his back. Just as he fell another followed, the attacker thrust his sword for Kenji’s midsection. He was able to side step the strike relieve the man of his arm simultaneously. Two more collapsed onto Kenji at the same time. One swung low, the other high. Kenji blocked the low strike with his Hane and turned his body at an angle to avoid the high attempt. In one explosive leap, Kenji sent the front of his boots into the flying shinobi and on his way down diced the other with a rapidly spinning katana. The 8 shinobi left, moved about cautiously. There were two that were in his blind spot. Kenji snapped his head to face them and then back to the others.

Kenji had feinted three clones, creating them and cancelling them only for the white smoke that accompanied them. While the men’s view in front of him was obscured he turned back to the two men in his blind spot and used his startling and far superior speed (SS rank) to blitz them, taking them down with ease, he would do the same to the two shinobi that flanked. The smoke had subsided now and his eyes were back on the 4 men in front of him who were now charging him. They charged in a horizontal line, each man running along side the other. The two in the middle dropped back, leaving the two to the far side still approaching. Over to Kenji’s right, the shinobi was predicting a backwards move by Kenji, but it didn’t matter…

The blue hair shinobi was confident in his abilities and in the knowledge he had on his opponent. They were much slower and could only use basic…

Chikara, Kenji could feel the earth under him become moist and stick, quickly realizing the two that fell back used some sort of earth technique. Kenji drew his already loaded crossbow and shot the man that ran toward him down, leaving the two performing the jutsu and the one who positioned himself behind Kenji. Giggles filled the wooded and marshy area, “You’re not so tough! Look at you, you’re finished! HAHAHAHA!!!”

Kenji slowly put his crossbow back on his back. He raised his hands. “I didn’t expect you all to be so strong; I’ve made a fatal mistake.” Kenji was using his shiny gloves, those distracting sparkling gloves to trigger a Genjutsu, all who looked at its reflective surface would fall into his Ultimate Deception. The two men working the earth jutsu would see Kenji vanish and appear behind the lone shinobi. The lone shinobi would see Kenji vanish and appear behind the two working the earth jutsu. All three men shouted, “BEHIND YOU!!” They would all whip around to see no one. In that time Kenji killed the two with his crossbow, he could turn around though to kill the final guy. The last guy let out a battle cry as he charged Kenji. The Jounin tugged at his feet, thinking he got his mobility back, “What’s going on?! I killed the guys that used the jutsu, it should have ended… Unless… it was the guy behind who was using the jutsu all along… I’ve been…” Kenji exhaled and used his flexibility to bend back to face the man, he appeared upside down. Kenji let out a plume of wind chakra. The man would run into and go into a screaming fest.

Despite the agony he was experiencing he still managed to steady his arms to raise his sword preparing it to fall onto Kenji. Whimper after whimper echoed in the area as he struggled. Perhaps there was someone who would aid him… Kenji heard faint noises in perimeter earlier, maybe it was a person and maybe they would help. Kenji did however have one last trick up his sleeve. To any spectators though, it would appear Kenji’s demise was inevitable.

Dameon

Dameon

It was just another day for Dameon, the ANBU Captain of the mist. It would be like any other day he told himself. Four hours of sleep with his never ender schedule that was divided among not only being the ANBU Captain but also being a Seven Swordsman and now rumors were spreading that he was next in line to become one of the village’s Sannin. He didn’t really care much for titles and formalities, he was what he was. He was a tool to the Mizukage that just happened to become one of the strongest tools she could have. His view of himself only solidified by the fact he had been expendable in the war. The fight with seven bells had put him on deaths door yet he wasn’t even taken to a hospital by his peers until an entire day after the fact and rotting in the woods. He had no deep seeded issue with what had happened but he did find it annoying that everyone else had gotten immediate medical attention but him. He wondered if it had been on purpose as to remove him from a potential seat of power, after all he had little to no trust in anyone.

He was taking his usual patrol route wearing his full ANBU attire including his mask that was simply blank white with only a solid black tear under the right eye hole. The mask enhanced both his vision and his range of sensing any trouble that may be approaching the village. He had been on patrol only an hour when something had peaked his interest and his defensive instincts. He could sense several chakra signatures not too far away from the village. Not willing to grab anyone else for this task he bolted off in the direction of all the commotion. He was traveling max speed out the gates and through the trees of the forest jumping and dashing from limb to limb effortlessly as he gained ground and approached what he could only assume was a battlefield or a mass gathering of enemies near the gate. The number of people there wouldn’t be an issue for him to take care of depending on the enemy’s power level. Still he couldn’t help but have a small smile on his face knowing that today was different than the usual mundane days he had been dealing with lately.

He stopped just shy of a clearing to observe making sure to rustle the trees as little as possible as he observed. There were several enemy attacking one man who’s headband told him he belonged to the same village as his sensei. Still he thought it was best to remain still and observe at least for a few moments to decide if the man was friend or foe. His natural instinct would tell him he was a friend since he was fighting off enemies but he couldn’t identify the people he was fighting so it almost made little difference. He continued to watch as the man quickly disposed of the majority of the enemies though it seemed he hadn’t noticed everyone at once. That was Dameon’s specialty, he could maintain a hundred percent awareness in a fight from all angles at all times and it was a skill he used religiously because of how effective it was. The man appeared to have been caught off guard and there was only one other person remaining if Dameon was to intervene this was the best time to do so. Without hesitation he quickly leapt down from the tree and in a blinding speed ran across the back of the enemy who had not realized he had shown up.

Dameon had his kunai out and as he ran past the enemy stabbed him in the back of the neck right on top of the brain stem. The enemy would fall to the ground helplessly as he died. With the brainstem cut he would pretty much die instantly as the brain couldn’t tell the heart to pump or any other part of his body to budge. He would be alive but unable to move any part of his body or even feel pain. It was Dameon’s personal favorite for assassinating as it instantly rendered the enemy unable to speak or even respond to his presence. He leaned over the man with the kunai and picked his head up off of the ground and slit his throat before he placed his head back into the grass face first. He wiped the kunai clean along his ANBU cloak and retracted it back into his sleeve. He was certain there would have been more people with that much chakra in the area perhaps though they were still on their way to their current location. He extended his finger and touched the ground as he focused in the direction he enemy had come from originally.

It only took a second for him to decipher the battlefield and realize there were more people on the way. He could tell there was still fifty enemy in the area and headed there way at a sprint though they were still a few hundred meters away so they had time to prepare. The fifteen that the man had killed before hand was just a scouting party. He reached down into the dead enemies coat and pulled out a slip of paper to gather intel. From what he could gather the enemy was a group of ninja loyal to Seven Bells. Even though the war was officially over he had suspected that something like this might happen but he never expected it would happen so soon. He took the slip of paper and put it in his pouch so he could deliver the information back to the ANBU HQ just in case this wasn’t the enemies full force they could go and clean them out at a later time.

“I thought you could use some help. We have another fifty of them coming this way, they will be here in about two minutes,” he stated facing the direction that the enemy would be coming from but looking over his shoulder to talk to the man.

At a breezes' pace, a being entered Kenji's reality, and by doing so, extending his reality. The good citizen had aided Kenji. In two motions he relieved his enemy of the burden of breathing. Kenji hated to think that his existence, for even the briefest of moments relied on someone else. However, with shinobi hood came adapting, Kenji would have to do just that. If not, his ego would run rampant. The shinobi wore a mask, indicating likely affiliation with ANBU. A fellow black op agent. He looked ahead, appearing to be sensing something. After concentrating he turned his head around to face the fallen Kenji. In a calm tone he alerted Kenji that 50 more were heading in their direction. Good news was, according to the new arrival, they had some time. "At least we have some time to prepare." Kenji drew his crossbow once more, "I have 18 bolts left... I will take a supporting role." Kenji said as he slowly rose to his feet. Upon getting his feet under him, he took a few steps backward. Kenji had no qualms with close ranged combat, but he felt given the numbers disadvantage they were facing, it would be wise to take out as many enemies with as little physical effort as possible.

With the ANBU operative's speed and skill with a bladed instrument, he was sure he was up to the challenge of leading the offensive. A rumble rippled along the ground. The trembled became stronger and stronger. They're almost here. Kenji in one powerful leap, glided 15 meters back and obtained a perch in a tree. The sniper was ready to take out anyone who came stumbled in his line of sight. He took a few deep breaths and retrieved a bolt from his quiver.

Dameon simply nodded in approval at the stranger. He was obviously and ally otherwise he wouldn’t have been fighting the group of enemies to begin with. He reached and grabbed the cloak by the chest and tossed it on the ground away from him so he had no risk if getting caught when he was fighting in close range. His gray and black armor was now clearly visible along with his sheathe and sword on his back diagonally with the hilt of the sword coming up over his right shoulder. He drew a kunai from his waist and a second one was already in his right hand from the sleeve in his cloak. He could feel and hear the enemy approaching closer and closer. He kept his eyes trained on the tree line as the man behind him leapt into the trees to fight from a distance. He naturally would assume that the man was a long range specialist while Dameon was close range so if they were going to have success this was the best course of action. Under his mask Dameon even had a small smile as he had not faced such odds in a long time. Since the war had ended he had found lack of excitement to be around everywhere. This was a chance for him to break out of the mundane even if it meant killing.

As the enemy appeared through the tree’s Dameon launched the kunai in his left hand immediately striking one man in the throat before he collapsed to the ground. As the wave approached him he activated his electrolocation jutsu. His sensing jutsu made him aware to his surroundings around him and allowed him to accurately assess the battlefield and fight to know exactly where to focus his attention. The enemy already started to circle around him but he had to trust that his new ally would take care of the enemies trying to sneak up behind him. Then as if a toggle had been switched on Dameon leapt forward sticking the kunai into the man in front of hims throat before he turned slightly avoiding a vertical attack from another enemy. Upon turning he kicked to the side pushing the man away with force before he completely his turn and jammed his kunai into another man’s chest. Deciding to leave the kunai in the man’s heart he turned again catching another enemy in the middle of attempting to horizontally cut him with a katana. Dameon had managed to grab the hilt of the katana and with a backwards head-butt into the man’s nose he was able to loosen his grip from the blade.

Using his newly acquired blade he stabbed behind him killing the man with his own blade. Than with next to no effort began to parry and block further incoming attacks from both kunai and katanas. Every few moments or so he had enough time in between attacks to slash at a target cutting them down or stabbing them through the chest. Sweat began to pour from his forehead as he continued his defense by using superior kenjutsu skills. Finally after the blade he was using had enough it shattered. Without hesitation he lowered himself into a leg sweeping the enemies that were surrounding him and sending them to the ground. As he finished the sweep he gripped his hand on The Midnight Child’s Blade that sat in its sheathe still. The enemy seemed to pause catching their own breath as they fought to reach Dameon over their dead comrades. This in turn made it more than favorable for Dameon to continue the slaughter. Though he was smiling under his once white mask that had inevitably become red from the enemies blood he knew he had to end this sooner than later.

He drew the small dagger out of its sheathe its appearance looking dull and anything but extraordinary. Some of the enemy he assumed had even felt a sigh of relief. After channeling chakra into it the blade began to glow a light blue and extended out a meter and half the chakra blade so dense it appeared to be solid. Dameon in an effort to intimidate the enemy began to move the blade artistically around his body in a deadly fashion. The blade itself was nearly weightless and because of such the movements were almost impossible to comprehend except for the faint light blue streak that appeared almost everywhere and creating a dome of light around him. Finally he would stop the charade and hold the blade out in front of him. Twenty of the fifty were already dead on his end though he wasn’t paying attention to how many his ally had managed to kill. The closest enemies to Dameon attacked five of them with a battle cry. With a flick of his wrist and extremely fast movements of his blade the enemy stopped in their tracks before falling to the ground in literal pieces almost cut perfectly into squares.

Dameon continued to grin behind his mask. It had been a long time since he had been able to use his legendary sword in such a fashion. To anyone unfamiliar to high level kenjutsu it would seems as if his skill with the blade along with the power of the blade itself made him appear like a god. A god covered in blood from the massacre he was dealing out to those that opposed him. He flicked the blade around some more and kept his head on a swivel waiting for the rest of the enemy surrounding him to make a move. If he wanted to he could have cut them all down effortlessly but then he would be back to his mundane existence again. He honestly wondered at this point why the enemy hadn’t decided to run in fear for their lives. Perhaps it was honor or something else entirely that motivated them to stay and face their end but one thing Dameon knew was that there was never true honor amongst the dead.

Sitting firmly in his grasp was his crossbow, ready to facilitate the piercing of many hearts. After a while in his perch he felt the intensity within him build up, which he had to quiet if he wanted to support his ally to be. His marksmanship among Kumo-nin was virtually unrivaled... there was only one shinobi that could even dream of challenging his skill with a bow. He knew not much of him, but he wished to cross paths with him soon. The reinforcements finally arrived. The first unfriendly was taken out by the ANBU immediately. As white as rice, the enemy corralled the ninja, surrounding him from all ends. It's my turn I guess. He quickly fired three bolts, all aimed at targets that had the greatest potential of catching the ANBU op off guard. Even though, as Kenji looked on, he appeared to have spectacular perception. His coordination with his body and weapon was remarkable. He's strong, no doubt.

He let another arrow off its leash. The arrow soared through the humid environment of Kirigakure. The arrow would fly over head, seemingly going off target, but Kenji had his sights not on the foes surround the ANBU. A lone enemy was standing back, charging some form of water attack. A bolt to the face silenced his chakra. Three more ninja from a distance sent basic puppets flailing in the air. At this point the ANBU was still actively engaged in close combat, but he was making quick work, it was Kenji's job as support to dampen any interruptions. Kenji snapped off another pair of bolts. They sharp tipped instrument burrowed themselves in the would-be puppeteers neck. Kenji's efforts did not go unnoticed, as a few of the enemies managed to slip past his scope and attacked him from below. His eyes widened with surprise at the 5 kunai that shredded through sparing brush to get to his face. With full awareness Kenji positioned himself so that 2 would simply miss his cherished person. The other 3 would prove more bothersome. First, Kenji lowered his left shoulder, allowing 1/3 to graze his shoulder, he then pivoted on the branch, allowing the 2/3 to graze the right side of his chest, then in desperation he held his crossbow up, managing to deflect the 3/3. After a quick sigh he swooped down at speeds they couldn't perceive well enough to resist his following actions. The five shinobi were all cleanly cut once, but once was enough. Proficiency is the name of the game.

Kenji had struck a few more foes down with single powerful physical strikes. He was sure to pace himself though, as sustained physical fighting was not his strong suit. With those last few foes, Kenji hadn't eliminated 12 out of the 50 the ANBU had counted. Kenji wasn't sure how many the ANBU had done in. He looked ahead to see that his partner for now was surrounded still, but by much less than before. From Kenji's view, he appeared to be toying with them. (12+20 then you took out 5 more... so there are 13 left, and im just going to say that they're the ones surrounding you). Kenji counted 13 remaining and they were all surrounding the ANBU, the enemy nearest to Kenji was about 8 meters away. Kenji was kneeling as he watched what would transpire. He saw that one few dared to take their eyes of the ANBU and as a result spotted him. Kenji smiled as he already had a bolt loaded, he raised the crossbow deftly and placed the bolt right between the remiss foe's eyes. Kenji's cover was blown now, so he yelled out. "12 left sir ANBU... shall I leave these fools who have sealed their fate to you."

"Fine," he said blandly as his head turned to face the other man. The other twelve would be just as easy to take down as the previous twenty. If he had wanted to he could have killed them all sooner but he had let the enemy pause to let their future demise sink in. There was a reason why the hidden mist village had won the war against Seven Bells and now these second rate scum realized that as well. Dameon dashed forward with incredible speed and slashed his might blade outward at the enemies stomach to which the contents spilled out along the battlefield as they collapsed attempting to understand why their intestines had spilled out over the bodies of their fallen comrades. There was now nine left and they approached him apprehensively and without their full confidence they stood even less of a chance than they had before. Without a moment to waste he spun around slashing his sword high enough to cut through another three enemy necks their heads stuttering before sliding off their shoulders. Six left. Another three had created a triangle around him the more interesting part was they they all had explosive tags drawn ready to commit suicide to try and take Dameon out.

Overall the idea was solid and they really couldn't afford to do anything else. Quickly he slid his sword back in its sheathe and as the enemy ran at him with their tags drawn Dameon took out three kunai and launched them. Each kunai with pinpoint accuracy had pierced the seal and stuck into the enemies torso. A moment later they would explode in a triangulating effect. Dameon stood in the middle just shy of being in range. The fire came close and he could feel the heat but no damage would occur. Finally as the dust cleared and the remaining three saw that he was still there they began to run trying to head back into the forest. At this point he knew he needed to catch one of them for interrogation but three would make getting information even easier. He brought his forearm up and slid three shuriken out from just under his wrist. He tossed them with deadly accurately managing to hit all three of them in their tendon just above their foot that connected to their calf muscle. All three fell to the ground before getting back up to hobble away.

"Help me round them up," he asked with the same emotionless tone as he jumped forward to two of them that were closer together. With a single strike to the back of their neck and hitting their brain steam they would fall to the ground unconscious. He grabbed them one in each hand and brought them back to the clearing and tossed them on the ground. He reached from his pack and pulled out a small flare gun and fired it into the sky before it exploded in bright red and started falling slowly to the ground. It wasn't even a full minute later that three other Kiri ANBU showed up at attention coming to their Captains call.

"I want these two taken to the base for immediate interrogation. We need information from them, see if there are any other Seven Bells loyalists. While they do that I want you to scout ahead to the north and retrace their steps, find me a camp anythign that could give us further intel. Move," he said in a commanding tone. They immediately would acknowledge the orders and do exactly what they had set out to do.

"Your from Kumo. If you want the last one for intelligence of your own you are welcome to it. Otherwise we should consider putting him down or releasing him and seeing where he takes us. They don't seem to be too smart," he stated from behind his blood stained mask.

Dameon accepted the unremarkable challenge of dealing with Seven Bells loyalists. In blurring moves of destruction he would spill the guts of three. Similar results persited... until of course, there were only three who attempted to squirm away. The ANBU subdued their retreat immediately. Afterwards, a few more ANBU arrived, hauling two of the loyalists away for interrogation. The ANBU then inquired if Kenji would like to take one as prisoner for intelligence purposes. Kenji laughed, "Kumo won't be needing him, we already have our share of Seven Bell spies and informants. I've been in Kiri for a while monitoring Seven Bell operations, there is nothing to worry about. This was the last of their force, so you can retire him. It was my assignment to finish them off. I lost men on the way due to traps and ambushes, thus why I was fighting alone."

Kenji stood back to allow the trained killer to do his job. Once it was done... Kenji felt compelled to offer some sentiment of gratitude... but couldn't muster the gall to thank him outright. "Some timing you have ANBU. If there is nothing left here to do, I shall be off."

Dameon would nod and kill the man on the ground that had been knocked unconscious. The enemy wouldn’t have even been aware of his death upon Dameon slitting his throat. He wiped the bloody kunai against his pant leg and slid it back into the holster on his chest piece. Dameon turned back to Kenji and nodded. He was hesitant to trust the man’s words about there being no other loyalists but he also had no reason to lie.

“Very well I will be headed back than safe travels,” he said and vanished into the treeline to head back to the ANBU HQ.

“Yo Kenji, snap out of it,” Dameon said snapping his fingers as he released the genjutsu that he had been practicing with. They were in a reasonably sized bar the place where Sanosuke said he could meet the guy. When Dameon had displayed interest in learning genjutsu his sensei who was also from Kumo had advised him to meet the man. After a few practice rounds an tips Dameon had decided to learn and create a jutsu of his own and try it on his genjutsu teacher as per his instruction. He had released the genjutsu and was just now waiting for him to come to. The way they had trained it was simple. He had put the man to sleep and used a genjutsu to construct a vivid dream of his own design.

“How was it? Was it vivid enough?” he asked as the man began to wake up.

The ANBU did the guy in... and then the Genjutsu was released.

Kenji came to to Dameon snapping his fingers. Kenji gave his cranium a few shakes. His student asked if the Genjutsu was acceptable. "Not bad at all kid. You definitely exaggerated your abilities a bit though." The Chikara said so in a joking tone. "You implemented everything I taught you, I'm impressed. Your Genjutsu could perhaps challenge my own one day. I am glad I could help you, but I must go now. Take care Dameon, I'm sure we'll meet again soon."
