There are many things that one can do to get good karma, and all of those things fall under the eight tenants of the religion that Gen believed so deeply in. You could keep a positive outlook at all times, which was right thought, or you could understand the way that the sins of the world come about and work to stop them, which was right view, and there were so many others that you could do. However, there was one that was above all others, and there was one that was making Gen do the job that he was doing right now. You could, if you were so inclined, work so that you were helping other people, that was known as "right livelihood", and that was why Gen was here. He was a monk, he was a priest, he was able to teach the right behavior to people who had lost their way, and yet he was here, clearing out the streets of the city. he could hear Set laugh in his head about how he looked stupid and how this was a waste of time, and that the boy was taking it way too seriously, but this was what Gen needed to do. He had become a strong warrior from his tribe, strong enough that Set could kill his father, but this village was much larger, and the enemies of this village was a lot tougher than those of the tribe. As such, they required a stronger body to be able to tackle them properly, and even with Horus by his side he was unable to face them yet. However, there was one thing that he could do. He could help the city in ways that didn't include fighting. After all, the great Rais Karum taught that if one could help a situation, even in the smallest of ways, doing so was the right thing to do. It was, in a way, just one more reiteration of the old phrase "every little helps".
The criminal infestation of the city had left more and more people refusing to take care of the city. People littered because nobody cared any more, the city was in it's own way a disgrace. So, he had to take care of it. Of course, the fact that he was being paid for it didn't hurt the matter at all. With his brush, he was dusting down the streets as he moved, bringing the beer bottles that littered the gutter out and into his bag, which he would later throw away. There were so many that he had to change his bag many different times, he had never actually believed that people would be this filthy, but here they were. they were living like pigs, throwing away whatever they didn't want into the street. Of course, he was cleaning it up, but there was so much that he could keep doing this for days and he doubted that it would accomplish as much as he'd like it to. He'd have done it past today, but they apparently only had the money to pay someone to do it for a day, and whilst he would like to help more, he still had to earn the money so that he could eat. After all, good karma went towards a good future, but it would not definitely put food in his belly. He was a warrior as well as a priest, and any good warrior knew that people had to be able to support their bodies if their body was going to support them during times of need.
