Hideo brushed a strand of hair from his face as he made his way onto the academy training grounds. He had requested a mission earlier today. Hideo unrolled his mission scroll and began to read over it “The teachers at the academy are looking for some small assistance. Your job is to simply show a group of three academy students the basics of being your rank.”. The Genin rolled the scroll up and placed it into one of his item pouches sighing slightly. Show a few students the basics of being a genin? What could he possibly show them? Perhaps a chakra control exercise would be best to start off with as chakra was an importance to being a shinobi as without the proper control one can overuse the amount of chakra used ensuring defeat if they waste too much. With a nod of his head he walked over to where he would be meeting the students and their teacher to take over.

As Hideo entered the grounds he blinked as he recognised the teacher that was with the three fourth year students. He headed over as the teacher turned smiling at him. Hideo smiled back slightly as the teacher walked off leaving him behind with the three children. He crouched down to their eye level, “Pleased to meet you I’m Hideo and I’ll be teaching you today nice to meet you” the students giggled and bowed to him smiling brightly. Hideo rubbed the back of his head he wasn't used to teaching and assisting children nor adults.

Hideo raised his right hand pointing with his right finger upwards, “Today we’ll start with one of the most important aspects of not only being a Genin but a Shinobi, chakra control. As you all know chakra essential to even the most basic technique; it is the moulding physical energy and spiritual energy. Once moulded, it can be channelled through the chakra circulatory system to any of the 361 chakra points called the Tenketsu in the body. Through various methods, the most common of which is hand seals, the chakra can then be manipulated to create an effect that would not be possible otherwise, such as walking on water, exhaling fire or creating illusions.

However there is a crucial aspect to chakra that is chakra control. The amount of each energy will differ based on the type of technique the ninja wishes to execute. In other words, a ninja could create too much or too little chakra for a given technique, resulting in the chakra being used inefficiently. In addition, even if a ninja is able to mould the correct amount of chakra, if they cannot manipulate the chakra properly, the desired technique will not be as effective or will not execute at all. Wasting energy will also create weaknesses like early exhaustion, which would hinder the ninja's capacity to fight long-term battles. As such we use methods such as leaf balancing, tree climbing and water surface walking to help build up our chakra control. For a medic, chakra control is one of the most important aspects used for techniques as they all require the highest level of control” explained Hideo before looking back at the kids who were staring on in awe. He chuckled and slowly stood up to his full height approaching a large tree.

“The Tree Climbing exercise if the first thing you should learn to not only increase your control but also your chakra reserves. You must channel chakra into your feet in order to stick to a vertical surface. If you use too much you’ll be blown off if too little you will slip and won’t stick. Often you’ll be told to start by running but that’s not what you should do. I recommend just walking to a tree and use one foot to place against the surface and experiment with different amounts of chakra till your foot sticks. Once it sticks do the same with the other then you can start walking up”explained Hideo as he placed his right foot onto the bark and slowly walked upwards arms folded over his chest. The students looked on in awe as the white haired man climbed the tree with just his feet till he was ten feet off the ground.

Hideo released his control and jumped down landing on the ground, “Now I’ll return another time to show you the next aspect of being a Genin, but I give you this task to go home and over the next few weeks try this exercise out by using small trees then as you get better move onto taller trees, once you can run up and down a tree up to ten times in a row try tree hopping using your chakra to stick to surfaces as you do”.

The children ran up to Hideo and bowed to him, “Arigatou Hideo-san!” they cried before running off to close chattering to each other as they walked off. They reminded him of what he was like all those years ago. With a chuckle he stuffed his hands into his pockets and walked off. He would report to his Kage and take the mission again to continue the next aspect. He would slowly give them what they would need to be proud Genin of the village but he would leave them to try it after all one must make mistakes, by making mistakes it helped us to get back on our feet and try again till we got it right enabling us to grow as people.
