"I can't believe this! When will I get out?"
Misoka looked at her father lying in the hospital bed and let out a sigh. Always so stubborn.
"Dad, what did you expect? You came from this mission with a broken arm and other minor injuries. Did you think they would just wait for them to heal on their own? Well, that's not gonna happen." She tried her best to keep her voice stern, but her father's childish I-wanna-go-home-look gave her a hard time not breaking out in laughter.
A short silence spread out between them before the red-haired man in bed said smiling,"Thank you for visiting." - "Of course I'd visit!" Misoka called out, surprised. She gazed over her father and noticed him having a far-away look on his face. Immediately, she felt something tighten in her chest because she had an idea of what or, to be more specific, of who he was thinking right now.
She got up off her seat and patted her father's arm one more time. "I'm going now, Dad. Get better soon, okay?"
He only nodded and Misoka was afraid she saw something glistening in his eyes. Quickly, she went out of the room. She couldn't bear to see her Dad in this state.
---------
On her way out, Misoka suddenly spotted two familiar figures in the waiting room. She broke out a small grin and approached them.
"Heero! Jezzi!" How cute seeing them together! At the same time, Misoka hoped she didn't interrupt something. 'Oh.. Jezzi and Heero?' Her curiousity took in the thought eagerly, already jumping to conclusions. "Nice to see you!"
She brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she looked down, (taking the fact they were shorter than her) with the grin still plastered on her face. Then she saw a nurse coming to Heero and dragging him with her. That was right: Heero was injured! Concern for the boy filled Misoka's eyes. 'What have you gotten yourself into, Heero?', she wondered silently.
The next instant, she turned to Jezzi and looked her over quickly. "What about you? You are not injured, are you?" Her voice sounded concerned, but also much softer than when speaking to someone else.
Once again, she couldn't help but treat the green-haired like a child. Jezzi just looked so frail and.. helpless.
It was only then when Misoka noticed a third person standing with them. It was a tall, skin-tanned guy with blonde hair and headphones. Misoka wasn't sure whether he actually knew Heero and Jezzi or if he just was one of the people waiting for the doctor.
In any case, to make sure she wasn't impolite, the Karisuma nodded to him hesitantly. "Hi... I'm Misoka." Her tone was wary as she was always a bit unnerved around taller guys.
