Clan History: The Tenko clan history is stepped in legends, rumors, and conjecture. While some of the story has changed and evolved over time the basis behind the clan’s creation has always remained the same. A man, known only by Nitta, Kei, escaped prison and fled to Sunagakure to hide. Fearing going into any of the villages he kept only to the desert, struggling to find his way. One night, on the brink of death from a mixture of dehydration and starvation Kei was visited in a dream by a desert dwelling fox. This fox spoke to him, telling him that he was one of the chosen ones, and would not in fact die that night, or the night after, but rather give birth to a clan that was to be known as Tenko. In this dream the fox merged with the man, becoming one entity, and upon waking up Kei found himself with fox ears and a tail, a trait of the generations that followed.
As the clan began to grow in size they developed a relationship with the various species of desert dwelling foxes in the area, taking them on as companions. It became a rite of passage within the clan for a child, upon turning the age of eight, to go out into the desert and wait to be chosen by a fox species: allowing the animal to choose the human instead of the other way around. The Tenko clan members became like one with their companions, working alongside them, and actually feeling hopeless without them.
They thrived with the system and laws they built to govern themselves, and eventually moved fully to Sunagakure, establishing themselves as part of the village. The children within the clan that were the most skilled joined the Academy, becoming a part of the Sunagakure ranks and forces, using their survival skills, and skills as scouts and information gatherers to help better the country.
Beyond shinobi the clan is also known for being merchants and tradesmen as well as being charitable; often times using their skills with Doton to help rebuild destroyed establishments at no cost to the owners.
However, as it stands, the desert dwellers despite having moved officially into Sunagakure remain thin and agile, lacking a bulk and strength to their bodies due to their natural cunning natures and fighting style based upon information gathering and stealth.
When Sunagakure was destroyed the clan gathered up their losses and then fled back to the desert from whence they came, biding their time and waiting to see if the village would be rebuilt or not before returning.

Kekkei Genkai Name: Fox Affinity
Kekkei Genkai Description: The Tenko are an interesting bunch. They are all born with fox-like characteristics: both ears and a tail. They’re also capable of utilizing fox companions far better than their peers.

Fox Affinity Every Tenko Clan member starts out with the major special characteristic of Animal Affinity without having to take negatives to balance or having it count towards limit.

Fox Traits Every Tenko Clan member is born with both fox ears and a tail, however they only get a bonus from one upon creation. Tenko fox ears give the user a +1 tier to sound-based perception, while their tail gives them a +1 tier to dexterity. While the clan member may only choose one of the other upon creation they can, through the use of 2,500 words, train the other to receive the +1 tier boost it provides at Special Jounin.

Sensory Boost Due to the capabilities of the Tenko clan they receive free max-range value on sensory techniques that are hearing based.

Drawbacks: The Tenko clan members are by no means hardy or strong. They are a people who rely on cunning skills and stealth, thus taking the following drawbacks.

Frail Bodied: The Tenko clan members are often small and lean and because of this they take a -1 tiers to their overall Endurance stat.

Weak Bodied: Due to relying more on stealth and cunning over brawns the Tenko clan members are not very strong. Due to this they suffer a -1 tier to their overall Strength stat.

Doton Specialists The Tenko clan are proficient with their use of Doton as it is one of the many ways they’ve learned to survive through the creation of their own dens and homes to protect them from the harsh sun. Due to this the Tenko clan is only capable of using Doton, and no other elements.

Tenko Bond The Tenko clan and their fox companions are deeply ingrained with one another: their bond know's no bonds, and each Tenko's companion is as important as a soulmate to them. If their companion is rendered unconscious, or reaches the Lethal Damage Threshold, the Tenko clan member will become unable to fight as normal resulting in -4-tiers of Perception until their companion is returned to a normal state.
