Clan History: A long-lived clan founded by a monk named Akihiro Ishido. This clan was originally a sect of close-knit Shinto worshippers that lived in Sunagakure no Sato, keeping to themselves and having very little contact with those outside of their group. They soon became a family and gained an innate ability that gave them great power, believed to be from Akihiro's unique bloodline. Soon enough, they yearned to become deities themselves like the ones they worshipped. They became ninja and mastered various arts in an effort to do so. After generations and generations of learning to mold their chakra and use it in new ways to compliment their power over physical matter, the matriarch of clan, Fuiyoka Ishido, suggested they venture out of their shells; she desired to move to Konohagakure and to make the clan an influential mass of political power, becoming workers for the Hokage and Daimyo of Hi no Kuni. Many members of the clan agreed and they left with her, but the remnants of the clan that stayed in Sunagakure planned on becoming gods their own way, through wealth and violence. The two sides were, within months of separation, nothing like one another. Those who lived in Konohagakure under Fuiyoka called themselves "the Pursuers of Truth", and those that stayed in Sunagakure with the new patriarch, Fuiyoka’s son Tsurugi assumed the title, "the Seekers of Fortune".
In the coming years, the Seekers became a dark and desolate sect, with their numbers diminishing and their intentions becoming more malevolent, as they killed and stole to get what they wanted. Tsurugi ruled over them with an iron fist, and a majority of the clan, including his son, Daraku, were all trained to be assassins toward his cause. Eventually, people began to rally against him because they wanted peace and freedom; they created a group and attempted to go to Konohagakure in order to follow Fuiyoka's path and become part of the Main Branch. Tsurugi, in pure rage, killed all of the rebels, as well as his wife, in an event that became known as the Great Massacre. This discouraged further rebellion using fear tactics but only increased tension beneath the surface.
Eventually, Daraku made it his goal to eliminate the Main Branch of the clan by assassinating Fuiyoka, and so he went to Konoha and killed many members of the Pursuers to weaken her forces. This changed him, and he perceived the clan's state in a different way, realizing that Tsurugi's rule over the Seekers was just as corrupt as Fuiyoka's false hope in Konohagakure. After he returned for a second time to Hi no Kuni and killed Fuiyoka, he went all the way back to Sunagakure and killed his father as well. Now that he holds the position as Clan Head, Patriarch Daraku has reunited the two branches of the clan into one, and allowed them to move throughout the five nations freely on religious pilgrimages or journeys rather than being confined to either Sunagakure or Konohagakure under an iron banner. The clan still maintains its primary stronghold in Kaze no Kuni, Ishido Castle, towering over the desert landscape.
Following the destruction of Sunagakure no Sato and the disappearance of Daraku, the remaining leader of the Ishido outlawed the practice of separating the clan based on the former allegiance lines. With this act, the clan was unified as a single entity, dedicated to securing their own future.
Members:
Ishido, Daraku (Current clan head)
Ishido, Kiyoko
Ishido, Tamasazuki
Kekkei Genkai Name: Phasing (Sei-shō ~ 整相)
Kekkei Genkai Description:
Phasing (Sei-shō - 整相)
The Ishido draw their power from the clan's Hiden technique, Sei-shō, which allows clan members to perform their arts and derive techniques from its teachings. Broadly speaking, this clan's abilities utilize a specialized form of Chakra Flow (those in this clan who choose not to take Chakra Flow merely have no access to these abilities) which allows them to suspend their body in a state between physical and spiritual energy in order to pass through solid objects, and even chakra. Typically, performing their Kekkei Genkai causes Ishido clan members to take on the properties of ghosts, such as losing color, becoming transparent, etc. Such prowess confers clansmen the tools necessary to undergo their storied assassinations.
FIRST STAGE -
Requirements: None.
- Activated at the cost of 15 chakra and maintained for 5 chakra per post, this is the most basic form of the Ishido Kekkei Genkai. This ability allows the user to phase through objects, provided they were not created by or are not currently imbued with chakra, the exception is the soles of the feet, which retain some solidity to allow the user to continue walking without falling into the ground. While performing this level of the Kekkei Genkai, the user, their clothes, and weapons are incapable of interacting with the physical world, and they are unable to form the chakra to perform or maintain other techniques as long as it is active. This ability has a 1 post cooldown.
SECOND STAGE -
Requirements: B-rank, 2500 words, 1000 ryo.
- Activated at the cost of 25 chakra and maintained for 10 chakra per post, this advanced version of Phasing combines the ability with a version of Supernatural Walking, allowing them to move as they would normally while maintaining their ability to not fall through the earth while remaining completely phased, removing the vulnerability of the feet during its use. At this level, the user may begin to phase through chakra, allowing them to pass through the effects of D-rank or lower techniques and abilities as if they did not exist, as well as allowing them to pay 5 chakra in order to pass through techniques or chakra abilities of C-rank (including sensory effects), or 10 chakra to phase through techniques of B-rank. Only a maximum of 20 chakra may be spent per post to activate this effect, and it has no effect on A-rank or higher techniques. Reaching the threshold at which the user may no longer phase through techniques with this effect causes the Chakra Flow to imminently cease, ending its effects at the end of the post.
At this rank, the user is capable of maintaining other techniques in conjunction with this jutsu, though still may not interact with the world physically or activate other techniques. This ability has a 1 post cooldown.
THIRD STAGE -
Requirements: S-rank, 4500 words, 2000 ryo.
- Activated at the cost of 30 chakra and maintained for 15 chakra per post, this perfect version of the Phasing ability allows the user to move freely in all directions, conferring the ability to fly and levitate as the user desires at their normal movement speed. While this technique is active the user may utilize its effects to pass through C-rank and lower techniques and abilities as if they did not exist, and may pay 5 chakra to pass through B-rank techniques, or 10 chakra to pass through A-rank techniques. A maximum of 30 chakra may be paid per post to utilize this effect, and it has no effect on S-rank or higher techniques. Reaching the threshold at which the user may no longer phase through techniques with this effect causes the Chakra Flow to imminently cease, ending its effects at the end of the post.
At this rank, the user is capable of activating and maintaining other techniques at will, and may selectively phase, allowing them to choose when and how they interact with the physical world at will, effectively allowing them to strike and use all of their skills as normal while still remaining completely intangible. This ability has a 1 post cooldown.
At all ranks, activating this ability, or any other Phasing Techniques (any technique in the user's library which utilizes Sei-shō) grants +1-tier to Speed for as long as they are maintained (min. 1 post).
Fortune's Favor (Kichi - 吉)
The Ishido clan are renowned assassins, often sought after for their prowess, which does not come cheap. Clan members receive additional rewards for completing missions which involve killing targets, such missions award 30% more ryo than normal.
Additionally, upon reaching B-rank, clan members' Stealth Techniques will interact with Sensory Techniques and Effects as if they were one rank higher.
Drawbacks -
- Members of this clan are assassins who rely on ending engagements quickly, they have -2 to their Endurance stat and must take the Fatigue Negative Special Characteristic without balancing it.
- Though riches gained from their clan's reputation are great, they come with a sinister connotation, and many are unwilling to aid clansmen in their endeavors, they must pay an additional 10% ryo for all item purchases.
- Mastery of Sei-shō requires a lifetime of dedication often eclipsing the study of other skills, clan members may not learn a fourth element.
- While utilizing Sei-shō, the same ghostlike qualities which boost their Speed cause their bodies to become more succeptible to methods which are effective against spirits, causing Fuinjutsu to interact with them as if it were a rank higher than normal for as long as any Sei-shō ability is maintained (min. 1 post).
