Mission details:

Lin tightened her Hitae-ate around her head and sinched it with a square knot. She could pull it as tight as she wanted and it wouldn't be too hard to take off that way. It held her hair in place, out of her face the way that she tied it, provided protection for her forehead and also kept the sweat away from her eyes. She patted Gora on the head, as she wouldn't be taking her with her on this mission. Gora let out a gruff 'goodbye' before returning to the bed and sulking. When Lin opened the door she heard, "If you're not back by tomorrow, then I am coming to get you." Lin nodded, and laughed, she would at least send a note if she was held up in the mission, but she thought that it would be too much for Gora to handle. She had been assigned a teammate, Syn, to do this mission with and it was... killing... a shinobi known as the Red lightning. She looked at the picture to make sure that she burned his identity into her mind as she closed the door behind her.

He had red hair, red robes, and ran around wearing red face paint on his cheeks. He probably uses Raiton, since he is called the Red Lightning, or he is an accomplished Taijutsu user that utilized speed. She didn't know which. The only thing that the mission said was "There is a man how has some how made it past the gates of the village and is attacking shops and villagers as he is going around. He hasn't been deemed worthy enough of a threat for a full scale defense squad, but you should be wary of him. you're job is to kill him, and show no mercy in doing so." Which was a big fat load of no help. It came with a picture of him but she found it to be fuzzy and unreliable. The red robes would be a dead giveaway and the ANBU got an anonymous tip from someone that he would be making an appearance tonight. It was nearing sunset as she walked towards the coffee shop that was on the edge of the market district to wait for Syn.

She touched her side, feeling her senbon there, waiting to be used against the man that was harrassing the city, and then she felt her other hip. There sat her Tonfa that she had paid for by an unknown suitor. She didn't know who it was and she didn't tell Dameon for fear of him not understanding that she wanted to use them because they were useful, not because of anything else. She usually gave them to Gora to hide and bring out every time that she went on a mission. They had the Guanyin clan emblazoned on them right below the grip, so when she hit with them she would have to make sure to hit hard or they would come after her and any other Guanyin. She looked up to the sky, it was a good fifteen minutes before she said to meet Syn. She decided to take out her Tonfas and practice a bit of the techniques that she had learned from Gin.

Gin wondered if her student would ever be good at anything, but the Tonfas were something that she seemed to excel at and so she had trained her a bit on how to use them. Now Lin could use them to such a degree that if she hit someone three times in the same place, she could break bone. She was deadly with them and she knew where to hit people in order to kill them. If she broke the back of the skull she would stop all essential function to the rest of the body. If she broke the femur, usually it would puncture the femoral artery, killing by internal bleeding in five seconds. If she broke their third rib on the left side both distally and proximally she could create a floating rib, capable of internal organ damage if left untreated. even if she couldn't do the damage herself, she could create a fatal wound. And any wound could be fatal if left untreated.

She went through the exercise once and looked up at the sky. 7 minutes had gone by. It was a good training regimen, and a good way to get loosened up for the mission. She wasn't sweating but her heart was pumping fast. She wanted to forget being helpless on the island, she wanted to forget being helpless with the konoha ninja, she wanted to forget being helpless whenever Satoshi saved her. She wanted to forget, but she couldn't and that might make her ready for this mission. She knew that she could take the man on alone, but she didn't know if she had it in her to kill him. She would have to leave that up to Syn. If not most of the fighting. She was a support ninja, through and through, and she would only use the Tonfa if needed.

She sincerely hoped that she didn't need to. The tip off said that the man known as the Red Lightning would be coming to the market district that night, right at 8 PM. She and Syn would have plenty of time to lay a plan and wait for the antagonist. She wondered if Syn would use his puppets against the man or not, like he had with Toshi and her when they had first met. Then again, she wondered if the puppets would hold up in a real fight.

A lot had been going on lately with the world in general, some of which did and did not affect Syn. If he were to give his own opinion, he honestly would not know where to start from. There were so many views and he wouldn't be able to see things from all of them even if he tried to use his foresight of the puppet master technique. This world was fucked up.. That was a more reasonable simple explanation but meh.. It didn't matter, did it. That was why there were upcoming generations of shinobis who would hopefully make the world a better place for the next generation after them. He was already pushing himself to his limits so as to get better incase he was called upon for anything. He wouldn't boast of having gotten better since he last left kumogakure but truth be told, he was no longer the weak man that he once was. Not being bias with his own self, he was never really weak but the fact that he had let himself be captured few years ago and not being able to escape only made him think that he was weak then. To be honest, there was nothing he could have done back then. It was a sneak attack and the ambush had been carried out perfctly. Anyway he wouldn't be where he is currently if none of those events had occured. Who knows, he could have ended his life at the hands of claymore if he had went through with his revenge plan and he wouldn't have the chance to live again like he had.. So everything sure had their reasons.

The young jounin had been getting lost frequently in his thoughts for the past few days and a knock would slightly bring him back. He snapped, waiting to confirm the sound and it came again.. Three knocks at his door and he walked up to it to check who was at the door. A special jounin in the kumogakure flak jacket bearing a blue scroll in his right hand.
'Syn- sama.. The raikage wants you to execute this mission quickly..' He said, handing the scroll over to Syn as the jounin received it and turned to leave..
'Uh.. Syn- sama.. Along with a newly graduated chunin.. Lin Kantorai.. ' He said and took his leave before Syn could say anything more.. A mission with a chunin? This was weird. He had done most missions on his own so why did the Raikage feel he would need a partner, a chunin at that... Perhaps he was to show the lower ranked ninja the ropes.. That was no problem, he just hoped the ninja wouldn't be a burden to him.

As he stepped into his home, the name rang a bell in his head. 'Lin'.. He knew that name. Standing still on the spot, he closed his eyes as he scanned through the library of faces in his head. It didn't take long because he had only met her recently with another boy, yes.. Satoshi was his name. He remembered her well now and he remembered the circumstance under which they met and he gave them a test which they did well in. So she was a newly graduated chunin eh.. That's nice.
He opened the scroll and went through the contents. A man has some how made it past the gates of the village and is attacking shops and villagers as he is going around. He hasn't been deemed worthy enough of a threat for a full scale defense squad, but you should be wary of him. your job is to kill him, and show no mercy in doing so. That was sleek! Kill him and show no mercy.. Fatality!
This mission sounded like fun.. With a partner, maybe more fun or more burden, Syn would soon find out. Still, he had seen a bit of what she could do so he wasn't sure she would be any burden to him at all.

He walked into his room and picked out a black knee length coat from his wadrobe. With black pants, he wore it over his camelio suit. Gearing up quickly, he strapped his ninja pouch behind his right back pocket and inspected it carefully. He picked the demon's fang from where it rested on the wall and strapped it to his back slantly after which he slid his kumogakure no sato head band over his left eye to cover his sharingan. He was much more different from how Lin had seen him the last time they met. A terrifying weapon behind him, just one eye and more black on him.. Perhaps these were just costumes to cover up who he really is inside.. One could not tell. Below the scroll, there was a rendevous point for himself and Lin so that was where he would head to. He was a bit glad to meet her again though he did not know why... Perhaps to commend her on her performance in the test..

After few minutes of walking calmly, Syn would see the coffee shop at the edge of the market district up front.. She sure did love coffee shops.. He would wonder as he walked towards the shop.. A mad man would break loose soon...

Lin watched as Syn showed up, He was a bit leaner than she last remembered him being. That was what she saw first. The next was that he was purposefully covering one of his eyes with his headband, unlike him who used to wear his hitae-ate around his neck like Satoshi. He reminded her of Toshi in some ways, but he was more of a strategist like her in many other ways. The weapon didn't bother her since she hadn't seen the weapon in their previous fight, and neither did his wardrobe. She wore the Kirigakure flak jacket, and she assumed that he would be wearing the same, but he probably just thought that there was going to be no danger to himself.

Putting her tonfa away she waved to him and heard before she saw a peal of thunder come from the market district not two hundred meters from her. The crook was at least flashy. There he was, a red robe, red hair, red face paint like in the picture. It actually made her groan in embarrassment for him. She hoped that he wouldn't be as flamboyant, but he was. Another flash of red lightning came from his hands and struck a woman in the chest. She fell over, presumably dead is what Lin thought from the way that her chest was crushed and there were minor third degree burns that radiated out in a star pattern from the center of her chest. She would need immediate medical attention in order to live. It was beyond Lin's ability to heal, though, so she could only just stand there and stare at the woman completely helpless for a couple of seconds.

She recognized him on the spot but he also noticed her beautiful eyes scanning the few changes on his person. That was necessary but the more amusing thing was that no facial expression was registered on her face and he could not decide if she was surprised about the changes on him or worried or eager to know how and why. He wasn't sure if that was natural or maybe she made it up herself but he knew that it was good..., he seemed to have been revived with the ability to conceal his facial expressions and due to that no one could detect what he was thinking or planning just by looking at his face. Fear was another thing that was not apart of him before. He could not say that he felt it because he did not know what it was but that was back then. He had full knowledge now and he knows what fear is. The important piece he noticed on Lin's person was the kumogakure no sato flak jacket which he had not seen her wearing before. She looked fit in it.. Perhaps she would be able to handle this mission on her own.. Even without Syn's help.

She raised her hand and was not done waving at him when a lightening bolt interrupted the greeting. It came from the market district and the source was not too far off. A man in a red robe with red hair and red face painting. Colorful.. Syn would admit.
A low groan from Lin showed her total disapproval of the man and the need to eliminate him before the whole village was covered in red ugly paintings. The man continued to show off as red lightening erupted from his hands and struck a woman center in the chest. The sight of blood escaping from her flesh as she fell against a wall with a thud was disheartening and Syn knew that this level of injury was well above the medical skills of a chunin. She probably wanted to help but she knew she couldn't. That feeling.. Helplessness.. He had vowed never to feel it again.

Anyway, that was enough damage for one day from just one man. Enough casualties too.
Everything would end soonest.. For Syn and Lin were here.
Dipping his right hand into the ninja pouch on his right back pocket, he would pull out two kunais and two explosive tags as he would hand one of each to Lin. He wanted to carry her along on every stage of the mission. He would lace the kunai with the explosive tag and would signal her to do the same. Once she had done that, he would speak..

'He's only twenty meters away. I'll take his right and you take his left. Once we both cross ten meters, launch the explosive kunai in your hand and it'll detonate when it hits a target or when I choose it to cos I have infused it with my chakra. After that, you can attack him again with caution. Don't worry, I'll protect you at all costs. Let's go!

With that said, Syn would lead the way though waiting for Lin so that they could start at the same time. They would both cross ten meters if she understood his instructions after which they would both launch the explosive kunai as Syn would form few hand seals and his kunai would replicate a hundred times towards the target. This fight had begun and Syn hoped to make it quick.

Lin felt the cold steel of the Kunai in her hand before she re-registered Syn. She was staring at the woman in panic, she had never seen someone as hurt as the woman before, even when she was training with Tsuyo. She had no idea where to turn, what to do. Then the Kunai was in her hand and Syn was speaking to her, indicating for her to wrap the tag around the kunai. She nodded and heard his instructions. When he circled around the right, and she was in position she raced towards him, Loosing the Kunai from her hand at 10 meters, she immediately changed her trajectory to try to stand behind him and made a hasty bit of hand-signals. She knew that there would be an explosion, but it probably wouldn't take out the individual with the lightning.

Making the hand-signals for her one B ranked jutsu that she knew as of right now, she held it in her mouth for a time, She wanted to focus the jutsu into a fine beam. She would get only one shot at this murderer, and she felt her blood run cold. He seemed to have seen her and was making hand signals of his own, apparently going to point a jutsu at her! She had to get time! She had to buy time! The kunai hadn't exploded yet, it was 4 meters away. Panicking, she thought that it wouldn't explode in time, thought that it wouldn't make it to its target before she was dead.

She didn't recognize the hand-signals, but she knew that he probably didn't see the other kunai or the man to his, now, left side. He had turned 180 degrees and was making some sort of hand signs, what was he doing? What signs was he going to make? His face was a red Oni face. He was grinning at the devastation he was unleashing. He was a madman! There was no fear in his eyes, no remorse for what he was doing, just sheer pleasure. She didn't know how to combat someone like this. The thugs that she had beat up till now were motivated by something other than just sheer sadism. This man, this man enjoyed watching the world bend under the red plasma of his lightning, found glee in watching things wither under his wrath.

Everything happened in slow motion from then on, he shouted: "Raiju! Hashiri no Jutsu!" She scanned her brain for the jutsu that she would undoubtedly be hit by, the jutsu that was going to come for her. It was a jutsu that summoned a beast of lightning, she knew that much. She didn't know beyond that what the damage would be. From what she saw of the woman, she didn't think that she would be able to block this assault on her person. Maybe she should have tried to get in close. But then the kunai...The Kunai, where was it? it had moved barely an inch! It was apparently too far away still. She looked, her face a mask of determination, she wouldn't fail this mission. Even if she ended up like that woman that he had fried. She wouldn't give up on herself or her village. He was dangerous, a bit too skilled for her, only knowing one jutsu.

He laughed as a giant wolf erupted from his hands, coming at her. She was too slow. She knew she was too slow to stop it. The kunai were 3 meters away and she was too slow to stop it. The red beast looked at her, lunged forward, juked, and grabbed hold of her arm, tearing into her flesh and erupting in the lightning chakra. The clap of thunder that came with it almost deafened her and she felt the clothes on the entire left side of her body tear away and her body sear with second degree burns. She held on to the lightning in her mouth, her left eye closed with pain. She knew that it would take a doctor of some skill to patch her back up, the kunai were 2 meters away. She would release her own jutsu, the False Darkness Jutsu when they hit home. She would complete this mission at all costs. If only she had thought to make a clone of herself. Stupid girl. She could have had the clone throw the Kunai.

Name: Lightning Beast Running Technique (雷獣走りの術 ~ Raijū Hashiri no Jutsu)
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Element: Raiton
Range: 60m
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Maintainable (-10 chakra per post)
Cooldown: 7 posts
Description: The user of this jutsu accumulates a large amount of raiton jutsu into one of their hands, which they then proceed to launch forward in the shape of a hound. The hound moves at a speed of 35m/s and is attached to a long trail of raiton chakra stemming from the user’s hand which the user can use to manipulate the direction in which the hound moves, enabling for complex movements and pinpoint control of the jutsu’s strikes. Upon contact with its target (or something else stopping it) the wolf will release the raiton chakra it is composed of, electrocuting anyone within 2m of it and dealing major second degree burns at and around the point of contact.

Lin seemed to have understood the instruction perfectly. She started the moment that he did but there was one thing that was lacking, her speed was far less than his and Syn had to slow down so that their attacks would sync. By the time that the kunais left both his hand and Lins', the attacker had turned to face Lin for some reason. Syn did not understand why.. His own armour's ability was not active so the man should have been able to see him but for some reason he did not and he was preparing to attack Lin. He could not possibly have her be in harm's way but he didn't know if she could handle this one coming her way. He didn't know yet if he was fast enough to stop this man but he knew he had to try. The couldn't attack the man blindly without gauging his skills first. This was one of the more reasons why Syn preferred working alone but now, he had to involve Lin and also make sure his plans would not jeopardize her safety.

He was too late ..to make a decision and the kunai didn't make it on time because he had slowed down earlier. The man's jutsu was ready, this much was known due to the completion of his hand seals. Lightening sparks enveloped his hands as raiton chakra escaped from them in the shape of a giant wolf heading straight for Lin. She was slow, too slow for this. The attack was inevitable. He could have stepped in right now but then he saw her brace up, he noticed the determination on her face. The never give up attitude she put on in the face of danger. He mused and froze, watching a young shinobi become greater. The beast did the bid of it's master, tearing into her flesh and inflicting more damage with it's raiton properties before it disappeared.

Cut, bruised, electrocuted and most of the clothing on her left side gone yet she was still standing and looking this asshole in the eye. Such spirit and Syn admired it. She had endured quite much and Syn appreciated that. Perhaps she had made herself a decoy so Syn would attack. Whichever way, she was going to make a fine shinobi. Medical line or not. The kunais were within range now, one meter and some inches away as the trail of lightening attached to the beast was gone. Boom! Explosions rocked on both sides of the man but he was hardly caught in it. He had managed to get out with only few butns that he could ignore due to his adrenaline level, maybe or maybe not. Syn was only judging based on his own self. He wouldn't have been bothered by such burns if it were him but no need to judge another based on one's view.

Syn's attention was once again drawn to Lin as she emitted a stream of lightening from her mouth. She managed to do this even after being hit by such brute force? He had to commend her after the mission. She was rising beyond chunin level and Syn could see this. He now began to feel like he was only here for supervision and Lin was the main one for the mission. She was amazing but being a medical ninjutsu practioner, she would have known by now how bad her injuries were and that no more stress needed to be exerted on her body or it would get more extreme. She had seen him be a pupper master before but he had change styles now. She needed to see him be a worthy jounin who knew not only how to pull strings and have puppets fight his battles for him but also one who could hold his own against numerous adversaries.

Her lightening stream shot straight for the 'red man' but the man held out his palm as he began doing something similar to absorbing the raiton chakra. Perhaps this was the effect of a jutsu? Or an item? It didn't matter. Placing his hand on his mouth like he was playing a trumpet, he would spew a jet of water at the man who would now be covered in lightening and thus cause him to be electrocuted. Knowing that the attack would not be enough, Syn would string together another set of hand seals as the head of a dragon would first emerge from the earth causing a smaller crater and then the rest of the body following. Syn would mount his wooden dragon as the animal would fly towards the target in all of it's glory. Zig zagging and avoiding whatever little attacks that the man would be able to throw if anu, the dragon would wrap around the man to restrain him and then bite his neck, breaking the bones surrounding it and pulling the head off unto the dirt. A gruesome scene it would be indeed if all of Syn's attack hit after which the smell of crisp burnt flesh and blood would fill the atmosphere.

Lin sagged to the ground, keeping her mouth aimed at the man in the red robes. He was still laughing when the stream of water hit him in the temple, electrocuting him. Lin's jutsu tapered off a bit too soon for it to deal any real damage, but given the man's Raiton Chakra nature, he was electrocuted still, leaving him stunned momentarily.

Lin's head sagged and she realized that she must be losing consciousness from the pain of the wounds, too much for her endurance to abate. She continued to glare defiantly as the man started to weave more signs, stating, "Good bye little ninja." to Lin. He was then caught up in the mouth of a dragon, or what seemed like a dragon.

Lin's fading consciousness told her it was a dragon. It wrapped around the man, stopping his seals and bit down on his neck. With a sickening snap, it broke the bones and the sound of ripping skin, akin to velcro being pulled apart, rang out. The man ended up a charred decapitated corpse.

Lin had completed the mission with Syn's help. Now... if only she could heal some of the damage done by this lightning user. She touched her side tenderly and pulled away fingers covered in blood. It wasn't good, the skin was completely charred, and she would scar if she wasn't taken to the hospital soon. She made some hand seals, trying to perform a medical technique that she knew, healing pulse.

"Healing pulse." She choked out in pain, and expected the teal chakra to engulf her palms. She tried the seals again, and it failed once again.

With a defeated look, her head slumped to her chest. If it hadn't been for Syn, she would have failed the mission, would have lost her life, and that was a more bitter defeat than being electrocuted.

The attack went through perfectly and the man was completely caught by surprise. He seemed overconfident and this had led to his downfall. The dragon uncoiled from the man as the shattering of bones became very audible. The dragon's grip had been so strong that the man's bones did not stand any chance. The color of crimson stained the streets of the market district and the horror that had just occured was very evident. A life had been wasted ...for the right cause. The dead man had wrecked more than enough havoc and it would require a day or two for the workers to fix things up. Syn moved few inches forward to where the woman that had been struck by lightening was and he reached to feel her pulse ...but it was gone. She was dead. He closed his eyes feeling a little remorse but then he was over it. Few villagers that had been watching the fight came around and Syn left them to take the woman to the mortuary so that she would be cleaned up and her people would come for her.

Syn moved over to where Lin was. He noticed a teal colored chakra engulfing her palms but vanishing almost immediately. She had been really hurt badly and if not treated quickly, the injury might scar. First things first, her clothes had been damaged by the attack and her left side was almost fully exposed. He quickly took off his jacket and covered her with it. He signalled the wooden dragon as the animal came forth. Lifting Lin from where she was, he held her in his arms and mounted the dragon as it headed straight for the hospital. He looked at her face and it was obvious that she was losing consciousness.. He would not let her die too, she was his responsibility on this mission. He wouldn't fail...
"Stay awake Lin.. Don't close your eyes.." he would say causing her to focus on his voice before they got to the hospital.
He would unmount the dragon quickly and rush her in at once as soon as they got there.

Lin fought to keep her eyes open as she was rushed to the hospital. She felt like she was flying. Her left side hurt so badly, was he sure that she couldn't just pass out from the pain? It felt like her skin had been fried.

She and Syn were received into the hospital and two hours later Lin was resting peacefully in a bed, looking on worse for the wear than she had. She would need to rest for a couple of days, but she had done well. Syn had done well. The world was right, and she knew it. Gora wasn't, unfortunately, allowed to visit her and instead sulked at home and took to hunting small critters outside of the house. It wasn't really necessary, as Gora had food enough for the two days, but more of something to do.

Lin presented the scroll to the Raikage the next day, proud of what she had accomplished. A bit ashamed that she had needed the help of a Jonin, but she was still beaming. Her first B ranked mission. Complete!
