They reached the entrance of the cave. her spine shivered as she looked at it. she was about to train in there? she didn't like the look of it. it was excessively dark. The electricity in her sensei's body was the warmest around her. just after the mouth of the cave she could see just far enough inside of it to see that it opened into a massive area. what were they going to do in there? spar? she wasn't her with her broken wrist from earlier that that was a good idea at all. although a simple spar between the two, at kaekio's level now, could certainly require that much space in order to prevent anything from coming into harms way. A big lightning bolt was about to strike the roof of the cave. Kaekio and the other entered before it did so.
One they were in the cave Sano in his rediculas cat form spoke.
"Remember those feelings that you had within yourself when you finally answered the proposition I suggested. It was not for nothing. You will remember everything that went through your head." the seriousness in her sensei's sent yet another shiver down kaekio's spine. he never talked like that. he always tried to match her outgoing and upbeat personality, feed it even. all that did was scare her. perhaps he was hoping that she would back out of the deal, and just leave senjutsu alone? was it really that big of a deal. the blue haired girl thought for a moment. no. she had to have resolve. with everything sano told her, she need to have absolute doubt that this was what she was going to do. she needed to do this. that was the attitude she needed to have if she wanted to live. but was it really worth her life? just like she wagered her sensei's life over this training. should she be wagering her own? if she died here, how many people would die simply because she wasn't there to protect them. there possiblity was endless. but then another thought crossed her mind. how many people wouldn't she be able to save because she wasn't strong enough? this training could really make her better. it could give her limitless power. the ability to save more people was priceless. even the possibility of her own life. that she was willing to gamble on. then nozomi crossed her mind. what if she were in trouble? what would kaekio do if she couldn't protect her because she was too weak? too small to take on the monster. her resolve hardened to absolute, and took a very physical change in her demeanor as well. that wasn't an option.
"I remember those feelings well, and i shall bare them in mind. Thank you Sano-Sensei"Once kaekio said that, they passed the small clearing that kaekio had seen from the opening. so it wasn't all she thought it was. they ventured further and further into the cave. the warm light of electricity marked kaekio's path as she closed her eyes and attempted to relax a little bit. she would need to calm down before attempting whatever lie before her. she couldn't falter in her resolve. that is what sano had told her. navi's light was bright, but she preferred electricity. it had been a constant ever since she was 12 and never faded. navi's light might fade, and that wasn't a risk she was going to take at the moment. so she simply followed sano's electrical signature with her eyes closed. he had faith in navi's light. Kaekio felt a change in the breeze and knew immedaitely they had entered a cave roughly the size of the one she thought the front one was. once they reached the entrance of said openning sano stopped and turned to kaekio.
"I want to ask you one more time: Can you handle the hardship?" Kaekio giggled a little bit. she should know him better by now. when has she ever given up on something that she is dead set on receiving? she had always been that way ever since they met. besides. even after all of the thinking she did on the way to this room she was still absolutely resolved in seeing this training through to the end. even if it meant her dying, it could still happen.
"Oh course Sano-sensei. I'm ready." she said her voice strong and determined and she gave him a hug. if she could die on this, she at least wanted him to know that she loved him. he mattered to her almost as much as she mattered to him. it just didn't seem like though due to how their relationship worked out some times, but it was true none the less. she let go of the hug and stood confidently before her sensei.
"Alright lets get this over with shall we?" she didn't mean or it to sound like she intended to die. or was going to die. she meant the training, but it jut came out that way.
Te trio entered the center of the massive room in the cave, and sano turned into his normal self, a look of worry spread a crossed his face for a brief moment. so he was a little bit worried about her. that brought a smile to her face, but also worried her a little bit. he had said how dangerous this technique could be, but now it really got to kaekio seeing that look of worry on his face. she took in a deep breath and said internally
"Think of all of the people you are going to be able to save with this. nozomi. hell even sano. your village. the growth this will hold is worth the risk. you have to do it. there is no going back." she stood confidently in front of sano as he clapped his hand together, and a massive power, a lot of chakra, was being formed in his hands, it produced a lot of light, but kaekio could at least tell that it wasn't raiton. then it hit her. that is Nature chakra. he just pulled the power that quickly from nature. she almost stood in awe. wait... was he going to hit her with it? and she had to block it, and continue until she could block it? that sounded dangerous, but that sounded like sano had a choice in if she died or not, the way sano made it sound, it was all on her shoulders. this entire deal was going to be 100% her. so that wasn't it. what was she going to be doing with that massive orb of light? she didn't know, and woudn't know until he told her. that was the truth of the situation. unless the task was to find out what he was doing and emulate it? that could be it. however kaekio had a feeling that her sensei would at least tell her what she needed to be doing.
"I am about to transfer something to you. A something that only someone truly worthy of being a sage can receive." Kaekio stared at him wide eyed. so she was going to be taking that? just as she was starting to get uncomfortable with the idea, sano let out a shout and it grew in size again. it's power leaked through out the cave. it's light filling every crack and crevice, revealing all around it. it was definitely powerful. that kind of power looked like it might cause some serious damage. but how would she be taking it? it didn't make sense.
The light died down, and a foot long ball of pure, powerful chakra was held tightly in between sano's hands. it felt if he let go of it, it might just destroy all of them in here with ease. and she was suppose to be taking this?
"To be brutally honest, you shouldn't be ready for this for another 7 years of my training. Even if you came to me as a prodigal ninja." that made her feel better. she was practically quivering in the sheer might of that ball's power. she felt like she might be blown away due to it's pressure. it was blinding, and powerful, and to be quite honest it was scary. this was scary. although he didn't say how she would be recieving this chakra. although she could see how this was different than any type of training she had ever been through before. normal trainign might have looked like trying to build up senjutsu over and over until she got it. but that was a common thing, trial and error. it's how almost everyone training anything. but this wasn't like that. you got one shot to get it right, and if you blew it, this thing could easily rend you a part. tear you into a million parts. kaekio was ready for this. she would can could prove to her sensei that she could do this. she was ready to be a sage.
"This is the very essence of my strength. Pure, unadulterated senjutsu chakra. Nature itself!... For years, I have absorbed senjutsu chakra incorporating it into my own body. Energy from the spirit, body and nature itself concentrated into the smallest space. It is both part of and separate from me. And it's powerful enough to power Kumogakure for an entire month with ease." she knew it had to be something a long those lines, she was in senjutsu training after all. so senjutsu chakra made sense. although she figured it could probably power kumogakure for a bit loner than a month... at least three.
"Your test is to incorporate this energy into your own body in order for your body to be one with nature. And hope it doesn't tear you apart. The agony of this absorption is beyond words. It can go on for hours, or days. If your body cannot handle it, then it will be eaten away from the inside out. And the only thing you will pray for is a quicker death." so he was just going to be handing it off, and expecting her to absorb it. the idea was simple enough, but she understood all of it's measures and consequences enough now. this would certainly be very dangerous, but she was sure she could do it.
"Kaekio, are you ready?" Sano asked one more time. she simply gave a nod, then he pushed the chakra into her stomach. and her trails began.
Part II
It tickled. kaekio's body tingled all over. kaekio's body tickled all over to the point she let out a giggle. was this really the massive pain that sano talked about? if this was all she had to endure this was going to be the easist training she ever had. maybe she had absorbed the chakra, and made it a part of her self already, and sano had sorely misjudged her. she giggled again, and all too sonn she asked
"is this it?... man i could do this for yea-" he voice cut off of as if in responce the chakra took a violent turn. as if someone set a spark at an oil plant getting ready for it's biggest shipment ever, her body exploded into pain, and she let out a blood curdling scream that probably sent a shiver down sano's spin. it felt like someone, or something was tearing apart her entire body, molecule by molecule. she fell unto all fours and immediately began coughing up a crimson liquid. tears were immediately brought to her eyes. it was only the first few seconds of this training and she was already wishing for death. this pain was worse than death. no. she couldn't give up so easily. that wasn't going to happen. her muscles felt like they were completely ripped to hell, and like a fire was running rampage through her body, but she would do this. it took all of her strength to pull her legs forwards and push off of the ground, crying out in pain as she did so. she could do this. her mind screamed at her to fight it away to keep on pushing. her body wanted this extremity gone. and it felt like the senjutsu and her body were at war with each other, and she was the battle ground that both side were trampling on. she stood on her two feet, her arm with her break hand was limp, and her other arm gripped her stomach that she felt might just spill out of her at any moment, but was also the source of the most pain for her. like a tiny ball of spikes was just twirling around in there shredding everything around it, but she was up on her feet. a second wave of pain cursed through her causing her collapse again. the pain was immense, as she let out another cry of pain. it was not a cry for help however. she knew she couldn't do that. she knew that all too quickly sano might come and try to take this chakra out of her, and end the training, and she couldn't have that. she would see this through. she kept an image of nozomi in her mind. she would do this for her. she could do this for her. damn she missed that girl. kaekio let out a scream of anger, as lightning coursed through her hand as slammed her fist to the ground. she hadn't channel chakra into her hand? maybe it was the nature chakra looking to be released, and her affinty for raiton was an easy escape. although when she did it, screaming pain shot through her hand, and up her arm, as she feel over in pain and curled up into ball. the only sound audible from her was her crying.
she hurt. everywhere. it was a pain she couldn't explain to anyone. she wouldn't even wish this type of pain on her worst enemy. she just wanted to give up and lay down. which she was doing. she coughed twice more, each time bringing new blood. this chakra. is just kept eatting at her. it was slowly killing her, and for a moment she thought she might just let it. then she heard her sensei's words in her mind. telling her to remember the feelings she had when she told sano her proposal. he wasn't talking about her deisre to learn senjutsu. that wasn't going to carry her through this training. no one would desire this, and if that was going to be one's motive, they would quickly find that this wasn't for them, and move onto a different method. no, he was talking about that deep feeling of preserving those close to her at all costs. she felt a surge of strength, and after a few minutes of haaving been on the ground, she let out a scream and pushed herself onto her feet again. cuts from the chakra having eaten away at her were visible on her skin by now. as was the blood trickling from most of wounds. she placed her good hand her knew for support as she panted, and winced at the same time. her gut was still the origin of the most pain, and while the pain through the rest of her body was still immense, it was definitely the place where sano placed the chakra that hurt the most. kaekio let out another cry, a mix of anger and pain and motivation. she was going to push through this. she would accomplish this goal. she punched a stalagmite in front of her with all her strength. it felt like she was punching diamond, and pain ripped through her body once more. she fell over onto her knees and coughed up more blood. then as if on cue, her stomach exploded into more pain as she vomitted, a good portion of it being blood. the pain increased in her body, as she collapsed on the floor, luckily not landing in the massive puddle of blood. her vision began to fade as the pain became too much, and she passed out.
"Kaekio!" she heard sano's voice, as he shook her. she was still in pain. and the pain violent went through out her body, as she opened her eyes, although too her surprise she wasn't in the cave. she looked up at her sensei as she gripped her stomach.
"good you're asleep. it's time for your first trail" she was confused. trail? his voice sounded different, and what did he mean asleep. that was an od way to put it. as she looked around, she realized she was in another cave, but not the one she was just in. the sound of rushing water was intense. suddenly she recognized the cave. it where she first met that ball of adorableness. she blushed a little bit. kaekio had grown a lot since this moment, but it was still where she met nozomi. she turned to the no-so-sano
"W-why am i here? and who are you?" the being turned to her. although now it was a wolf.
"so you figured me out eh?... well i am a spirit of nature. you are currently trying to become a sage yes?" kaekio nodded.
"well i am here to make sure that you arn't going to abuse nature's chakra. you seem like you have good morals, and like a fine shinobi, but i have to be sure, do you understand?" kaekio nodded again. speaking hurt, hell nodding hurt. but that is what hurt the least.
"S-so what am i doing here?" she asked again through gritted teeth.
"You, my dear kaekio are here for your first trail." and with those words out of the wolf's mouth he vanished.
Screams were heard outside of the waterfall. they sounded like children's screams. kaekio mustered all the strength she had to stand up. pain coursing through her body, although this time it didn't get worse. she walked over to the waterfall, and it parted without her having to make an effort. that is when she saw it. Zetsume and Nozomi standing front of a bunch of children tied to a post. tears surfaced on kaekio. she wanted to run over to nozomi. her heart pounded, as blush surfaced. but then she game into full grasps of the scene. it was nozomi and zetsume whom had tied up the children. zetsume was pulling at arrow back in his bow, and was aiming it at the children. what's worse, kaekio recognized the children. they were all academy students. a dark grin appeared on zetsume's and nozomi's face, as zetsume said
"This is what it's like to be shinobi. you have to watch your closest friends die" and he let one fly.
the arrow pierced through the skull of the kid in the middle. he didn't even have time to react. however kaekio, and all of the kids screams were heard in unison. kaekio fell on her knees. the pain was still coursing through her body, but that wasn't what was on her mind. how could he do this? then Kaekio remembered. this is a test. a test of what?... the idea hit her, but it wasn't one she liked. a test to see if she could do the right thing, even if it meant killing the ones she loved dearly. tears surfaced in kaekio's eyes. it wasn't fair. all she wanted to do right now was hug and kiss nozomi. she didn't want to kill her. maybe she could stop them? kaekio bite her lip through the pain as she pushed herself up again. at the same time nozomi drew a kunai. no. no. no no no. kaekio stumbled trying to move faster. she began to get vocal.
"no! Stop! Nozomi stop! please! don-" her voice was cut out children screaming as nozomi slit the throat of the next kid.
Some of the kids were crying. other were curled up in a ball with nothing but shock on their face. 2 children dead. 5 remained. kaekio hubbled closer. this was torturing her. she knew what she had to do, she just couldn't bring herself to do it. the pain still coursed through her body, but she wondered why it wasn't going at all? typically when she moved the pain sky rocketed. then she realized, as she wasn't getting more cuts either. her body must have been taken in the exact condition it was in when she passed out, meaning the pain would still persist. but it wouldn't grow stronger... or weaker. kaekio finally made it to the shoreline of the small lake where zetsume and nozomi were just as zetsume was preparing another arrow.
"ZETSUME STOP!" she shouted as she built up just enough speed to tackle him unto the ground. he elbowed her in the gut, and pain exploded. so apparently aquiring new wounds still hurt. she coughed a lot but nothing came up. she rolled around as the pain all over her body stung and ate he. as she did so, Zetsume stood up, and fired. The children were so shocked at this point they didn't even scream. their faces all blank with fear... they were trying to accept death. 3 down, 4 remained. kaekio slowly stood up. judging by the pattern thus far, it was nozomi's turn to kill. she slowly walked in front of her girlfriend, with tears in her eyes and spread her arms.
"Nozomi... please... listen to me. stop this! stop this right now. this... this isn't you. it's not like you. you wouldn't do this." nozomi walked fowards as if kaekio didn't even exist. her eyes were cold and murderous. Kaekio stood in the way blinking back tears.
"babe... please" kaekio said trembling, partially from pain, and partially because this sucked. her own girlfriend was killing children and she had to stop her... she just couldn't bring herself to kill her. the way zetsume and nozomi were acting and moving they would be easy to take out. if only she could. Kaekio stood there in front of nozomi. separating her and the children. nozomi simply kept walking forwards. kaekio stood her ground as nozomi kept moving forwards. then a pain in her gut, exploded with the already massive amounts of pain there. she looked down to see nozomi had stabbed her.
Kaekio woke up suddenly, and looked around. she was back in the cave of the waterfall. she then heard a phantom voice of the wolf.
"i know you were trying to do the right thing and save everyone involved so i'll give you a second chance on this test. but, this is the one time you get a second chance. keep that in mind." Kaekio sighed and grunted through the pain to sit up. she pushed herself up and unsheathed the sword on her back. she walked, slowly, through the waterfall, it opening it up as it did before. she spoke to herself internally
"alright kaekio. you can do this. just follow through. don't think about it. remember. it's not really them. Nozomi and Zetsume wouldn't actually do that." the screams of the first kill briefly interrupted her thoughts. she kept walking unfazed. she knew what she needed to do, and there was no way around it. she knew that now. Nozomi drew her kunai, right as kaekio plunged her black sword straight through her chest. she pulled out, and then walked over to Zetsume, and sliced his neck twice. she then collapsed. exhausted from all of the movement she just. did. the wolf's voice surrounded her
"Wow.... you managed to do that rather quickly, and without remorse. i'm impressed. seems like giving you a second chance was a good idea... i like you. i might just keep you"Kaekio screamed in pain as she awoke again. the pain in her gut was moving again. it was alive again. that battle that was tearing her body apart had continued then she was out and now she was hurting more than ever. her shrill filled the silent cave, as she picked herself up from her own pool of blood that she must have let out while she was out. she stood on her feet clutching her stomach as that ball of spikes was spinning again. her skin was tearing at and slicing in all different places, and it hurt. hurt more than she could put into words. how was she suppose to even do this? was there a trick to absorbing this chakra? was there some magical way to make this all go away? she needed to focus. she could do this. she would do this. for the sake of everyone around her, she needed to get past this. to master snnejutsu meaning she could be some of the legends that were sages. rumored to be unmatched in speed strength and sheer power. they drew power from the world around them, and that is something you can't take away from them. it was definitely a well sought after skill, and kaekio was being trained by one of the best teachers in the world on this. a master sage. her very own sensei. he wouldn't have put her through this trail if he didn't think they she wouldn't be able to handle it. sure he was worried, but that was because he cared. if he really didn't think that she could make it through this, then he would have not allowed her to proceed through it. that brought kaekio back to what her sensei had said earlier. she shouldn't be ready for this training for another seven years. seven years... that was a long time, and would have been filled with a lot of training. even as a prodigy he said shouldn't be ready. so what did that make her? a god? no kaekio wouldn't dare think of her self so highly. it's because she had something that most prodigies don't have, and might take someone seven years to teach. well at least this is what she thought. it was because she had the drive to protect the people she cared about. sure everyone has it a little bit, but it is needed to a much higher extreme to complete this task. this was part of her sensei's first initial test. he suspected she held the capability to do this, but he just had to be sure he could. what happened after that, with all of the questions he asked, she only guessed were just him concerned for her safety. Him. her teacher. her mentor. the one who taught her since she graduated the academy. he cared about her a lot. she was beginning to realize this now. him. him and nozomi. those were the people that cared about her the most. those were the people that she needed to protect, with all she could. next in line was zetsume. whom had disappeared as of recently but that didn't matter, she still cared for him a great deal too, and she could tell that he cared for her. those three deserved her protection more than anything else. but she also held a duty to serve her village. more than just a duty. she cared for her village as well, and all of the people in it. she loved them, even if she didn't know most of them. she was young and inexperienced, but it was still her desire to serve and protect all of the people residing withing the village walls. even most in kumogakure in general that she wanted to protect. that is why she was carrying through this training. so that she could have the ability to take on whatever problems came there way, head on, and without fear.
Kaekio groaned in pain, but her recent thoughts carried and inspiriation in her that she didn't feel could be stopped. her body cried out for mercy, but she wouldn't give in. this chakra was hers. she would make it hers. when her body learned that, it might just make things easier for the both of them. the pain escalated as kaekio pushed herself to sit up right against a wall. coughing up more blood as she did so. she looked like a bloody mess, covered in blue black and red. slowly and agonizingly she unsheathed her sword and brought it before her eyes. her other black blade had been left outside. she would need to go retrieve it after this training got over... if this training got over. no. she had more resolve than that. this training would be over, and she would be a sage. kaekio flipped the blade around in her hand so she had a reverse grip on it and stabbed it into the ground. she got it a good ways in, and used it as leverage to stand up once more. she wasn't going to let this damn ball of light bring her down so easily. that ball of light was hers, and she was in control. not it. pain revenged through out her body as she moaned and groaned attempting to stand up. it felt like a virus of pain, and you didn't get used to it. it was alive a refreshed with every passing second. it was a new kind of pain at every moment, making it nearly impossible for the body to adjust. no not nearly impossible. it was impossible. but that wouldn't do her in. Kaekio finally stood on two legs. that blood mess that she was, was up... now to find sano. she took another step and the pain stepped it up once more. for the second time in a row, she couldn't handle and collapse. her vision fading quickly after that, as she lay next to her sword in the ground, her master no where in site.
"KAAEEEEKIOO" the voice shouted loudly in her ear.
"KAEKIO!" the voice rang again. kaekio's eyes openned to see a pair of fangs in her face. she would have jumped if her body wasn't in so much pain. but the pain was in a stasis like mode again. which she knew what that meant by now.
"What she glared at the wolf in front of her face." it was the first time she really got a good look at it. it was pure white, almost ghost looking, but definitely pretty, and it's eyes were bright red, like they were glowing. however she could feel the electrical signal pulsing within it's body. was this a real being? she gritted her teeth as she pushed her self up unto her hands and knees, the pain strong in her body. she could feel the wieght of both of her swords on her back.
"it's time for your next test. and remember, this time no redo's. no fuck ups. you'll know what to do" kaekio sighed. what would she need both of her swords for? and how many of these damn tests did she have to take? wasn't it enough that she had to survive through the pain. or was this a part of surviving the pain? wait... would passing these tests allow her to control that devilish chakra running through her bones? maybe it would. maybe it's passing these tests that decides whether kaekio lives or dies. with that thought in mind she had a new determined look in her eye. she pushed through the pain to stand on both of her feet. her swords shook on her back. what where they even for? did she really need them? kaekio took a glance around. she was standing at the gate to kumogakure. she actually wasn't that far away from where her real body might actually be. she wondered if she walked that, if she could see it laying on the ground. helpless, exposed, and bloody. she shook her head
"Stay focused kae. you arn't goign to like what you are about to do. probably hate it infact, but woman up and deal with it" that little pep talk she gave herself improved her drive to see this threw regardless of what it mean she had to do. and with that in mind, she stepped through the gates of kumogakure, pain coursing through her, but also anxiety about what was to come.
the first thing different about kumogakure that kaekio noticed was that it was all on fire. it looked like a war had been raged here. there were bodies littering the streets and rooftops. scattered weapons and signs that heavy battles took place in certain areas. it felt as though kaekio herself had taken place in this battle. her muscled ached from the fight she was carrying on internally. so. what was her mission here? what task was she trying to accomplish? what would test whether she was worthy or not of being a sage. kaekio was beginning to find that being a sage meant a lot more than just the power gained from it. it came with a lot responsibility and duty, and then you have to represent yourself in a positive way as more people tend to know of sages. then she say him. her own father sitting against a wall he hand in his lap he was all bloodied up and bruised and beaten. "good" was all kaekio could think and she almost walked away before she realized. his electricity was still pulsing. he was alive, and kaekio knew this was a test. he was her test. she had to help someone she hated. she should just let him die. let him rot there in his own filth and hope his death comes slow and painfully. but she knew she couldn't. she started to turn around when she heard was sounded like a foot hitting skin, and she realize there was other electrical signals in the area. she found someone kicking her father. it was a good thing her body prevented her from moving quickly because she probably would have gone over there and started helping him had she not had time to think. she let out a sigh. she needed to protect him too. she hated herself for this. she walked up behind the man kicking her father.
"Hey!" she said loudly behind him as she drew both of her black swords. she stabbed one under the man's ribs, killing him almost instantly. then she walked over to her father. his wounds were severe. in fact he probably might not make it to the hospital, and forcing him to move might agonize him more. for that reason she almost wanted too. but now she could get her wish and know that she made the right decision. she placed both swords in an X shape on his neck, and chopped off his head. she smiled as she heard a growl behind her
"The hell was that!?!" the wolf spirit said.
"you were suppose to help him! not kill him!" kaekio turned around and glared at the wolf showing equal hostility.
"his wounds were severe, and moving him would have made him hurt more than he already was. even if there was a sliver of a chance that kumogakure hospital was still functioning after this battle, and they had room for patients, and that he even made it there, he would be in so much pain he would be begging for death if he hadn't killed himself already. so i did the humane thing a put him out of his misery. sometimes the right thing can align with your own goals you know." the wolf... grinned? if that is what you could call that.
"alright i see your point. you pass this test as well. you will have one final test after this one, so be prepared."Kaekio woke with another scream. she was curled into a ball with her sword still stuck in the ground. one more test, and this entire thing would be over, and done with. that is all she needed. she knew what could make herself pass out, but with the pain still thrashing about in her body she didn't feel like moving. she had coughed up more blood while she was out and the pain only felt like is had grown. this was awful and she needed to end it now. not end her life. she had passed too many tests already. she had come too far to give up now. the pain she felt mad her want to give up, but she couldn't. wouldn't. kaekio tired to sit up but the pain caused her to vomit. her arm felt like it had been torn off, and so she tired to sit up with one arm instead. the pain felt like fire tearing away at her body. come on. just a little bit more. she pictured nozomi in her mind. she would get to see her after this. she could go to kiri after this and meet with her. she definitely deserved a break from all of this hard training that was for sure, and she definitely wanted out of the village a bit. so with nozomi in mind. kaekio used her sword to stand up, one more time. the pain made her scream out loud. then the thought crossed her mind. where was sano in all of this? was he just standing back watching his student slowly die? or did he go stand guard by the door because he couldn't bear to watch it any longer? well she would find out after she completed this final test. fter a series of more screams and more grueling pain, she finally got to standing on her feet. she knew movement caused the pain to grow inside of her, and she needed to be sure she passed out to get into that final test. so she built up all of her remaining strength, and jumped. looking onward it looked wierd because she didn't even jump very far. some might even assume her mind has already gone to hell and that the was no returning her. but she knew exactly what she was doing. the pain caused her to black out before she even hit the ground.
Drowning... kaekio was drowning. her body groaned, but the pain was in a stasis like before, and no longer felt alive. kaekio's body hated her as she fought for air. she swam upwards, and was quickly shoved against a rock. the pain burst through her body as she hit her spine. she tried to climb the rock, but couldn't it was useless. the wolf spirit didn't appear to tell her anything. she was on her own in the middle of the sea. this was certainly a difficult challenge but waht was she supposed to do? her body already was giving out on her, and she was suppose to swim? this seemed insane. kaekio let the water press her against the rocks as she used as minimal energy as possible to stay a float. think kaekio think. she searched around the area. maybe it was a test of endurance, and if she could last a certain time she would be set free. or maybe she needed to reach the land. however none of those fit the bill with what had been sort of theme. what is the opposite of what she wants right now? to drown. she doesn't want to drown. what kind of message was she suppose to be getting from this? that when things get rough she just needs to end it all. if it's too hard give up? no that doesn't seem right. but that is the only thing that she could think of. this was going to be hard. all of the other tests required her to kill someone else. none of them required her to kill herself. she figured it would be best not to take a deep breathe as she dove down. the swords on her back where enough to wieght her down, to where she didn't have to work to keep herself underwater. then she breathed out all of the air in lungs, and waited. this was the worst death imaginable. to sit here and suffer like this, but her body was tired anyways. it didn't feel like moving. she wanted to give up, and so she let her body have it's way. it felt nice to give up for the moment. her body struggled a little bit when it couldn't breathe but eventually she passed out.
Kaekio almost immediately woke up, and was at peace. her body felt fine. she looked down and smiled. she had done it! she had absorbed the chakra. before her eyes the wolf appeared.
"good. you have finished your first step in training. while i merely an illusion caused from anture chakra, similar to genjutsu, i am a very real being. and seeing your strength and courage has inspired me to ask you to come train with me and my pack in kirigakure. we will be expecting you soon, Omega." kaekio stood up. so. the next part of her training was going to be with wolves huh? well. being a wolf sage didn't sound too bad. Kaekio stood up and winced a little bit, her cuts and torn muscles still hurt, but they were nothign compared to the pain she had just been feeling.
"Sano! Sano! i did it." she said locating her sensei.
"i absorbed your chakra!... so now i'm a sage right? well... i know i still need to traing with animals and everything, but i have that covered. while i was in pain, i had an illusion that a white wolf wanted to meet me in kirigakure. he said that he was able to contact me through the massive amounts of nature chakra i had just taken in." kaekio let out a sigh and hugged her sensei.
"well with your premission i would like to travel to kirigakure to complete my training as a Wolf Sage." she said. Kaekio would then wait for an answer. once sano gave his awnser she would hug him again and say
"well i've had enough for today eh?... i think i'm gonna head home and sleep" she said giggling. she didn't even want to talk about what she just went through. she would then head out of the cave. having remembered her way in the dark before. then once she was out of the cave, she would collect her sword which was luckily still at the thunder grounds. then she would head home.
