Ren Sabaku

Ren Sabaku

D-rank
Today's mission took an interesting turn, or perhaps that was an unfair premise, rather.. it was unique in that it was something Ren never really imagined herself doing. A search, or potentially a hunt, for some books containing the jutsu of different elements and such, lost to... a myriad of things really. Ren would have to pick one of the five they had available and go retrieve the tome, confirm its authenticity and then bring it back to be stored. From the intel gathered, the five books representing and storing information of each of the five natural occurring elements, Lightning, Wind, Fire, Water, and Earth, each potentially lost into a variety of situations ranging from retrieving it from a group of bandits or finding it in a hidden location and locked away with sealing jutsu or even to win it in a battle with another genin.

Each of the situations tantalizing but it seemed to Ren that the best and most interesting way of going about this mission would be to go and challenge the other genin to a little spar. Well, at least the idea is that Ren would have to get it back from him through whatever means needed and return it. It only helped that he had and was using the Wind nature style, something that Ren could compete against inherently. Maybe even going as far to use her sand to overwhelm him, it had been a while since she really stretched her legs and the practice would be nice. To some degree at the very least.

Ren made her way through another regrettably warm day through the village, heading from the missions office directly to one of the many training grounds. The first one was a sort of sand arena, where a lone boy stood at the center, weaving together signs and pushing out wind chakra. A single open book lay on the ground next to him, open at the center as he glanced down at it occasionally, Ren sat and watched for a second. He weaved together more handsigns and a great burst of wind formed all around him, he fell back a bit and smiled. Ren also smiled from a distance as she figured that he got a hold of his jutsu at least to some degree. Well, that meant at the very least that Ren should move on to recovering the book and such, however she was gonna do that.

Entering in from the doorway, Ren walked quickly towards the arena he was at and yelled out at him, "Hey kid! You have the Katon techniques book, right? I need it back now..." she offered a smile to him, he was considerably younger than her. He turned his head and a bead of sweat fell from his forehead as his smile faded to a neutral look, "But... I'm not finished just yet!" he gave calmly, a bit of worry too, perhaps. Maybe not sure how to respond yet but also not wanting to risk his chance to keep learning and practicing either.

Ren held her smile and chuckled a bit, "Well, that's not my problem. You can always go check it out again or whatever later on, for now I was sent to get it back and make sure it gets back to the library..."

The boy's face fell a bit and then recovered with a wicked snicker, "Someone who's not even a ninja of my level has no right to take it from me... if you can beat me in a spar then you can take the book..." he offered, his voice quivering a bit. Was he nervous?

Ren laughed again, it was perfect! Well... not perfect, but he certainly made things interesting, "You're on little kid... and another thing.." Ren tapped the headband she had on, "I am a ninja, and I'll show you I'm above your level..." she gave and conjured up a large amount of sand around her quickly. Creating a sort of mound out of it in a circle around herself, the boy was already on the move though. Not even waiting for confirmation, he dashed forward, using the Fuuton: Stream technique to burst himself forwards. Ren quickly weaved together four signs as he started to move, pushing her chakra to some nearby stones that had been dragged along with the sand, creating a bunch of stone shuriken and kunai, she launched them at the position he'd land at if he continued his charge at her.

The boy made a wild roundhouse kick towards Ren's head as she ducked under it, watching the shuriken strike him. A small gasp took her over, she didn't think that he'd be reckless enough to continue on when he saw the shuriken form. But before Ren could fully even register the mistake, already working out in her head that she would have to get to work on healing him, a small puff of smoke formed and a test dummy fell in his place. Substitution Technique... A clever move indeed, he must have prepared it beforehand for some reason. Ren wildly flung the sand around her and created a false sand storm around her, the sand doing nothing more than obscuring vision as she searched around for his person, finding him across the room and his second dash in halted by the sand.

Ren found her chance, launching the sand at him and having it build up around him in a loose pile while she dove underground. Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique would be perfect in restraining him for a bit and giving her an easy win, especially with the sand in his eyes and more sand piling up around him. Executed flawlessly, Ren dragged him underground and let the sand fall to the ground and remain still afterwards. A bit of sand fell in his hair and on his face, Ren laughed as he squirmed around, walking back to the book that was also covered in a bit of sand now.

Taking a quick look through, Ren verified that it was the Fuuton book, finding the Fuuton: Stream technique and it's details first, that was good enough for Ren. She turned back and waved with the book in hand, "Thanks kid, the spar was fun, but you definitely need to work on your skills some more." Not bothering to listen to his curses as she walked with swagger out of the room to turn in the book to the library and finish up with her next mission.
