- The Mishun!:
- Mission name: Gate Duty
Mission rank: C-Rank
Objective: Keep watch of dangers trying to enter the village, and check the passes of those entering and leaving.
Location: Sunagakure no Sato
Reward: 150 ryo
Mission description: A Chuunin watching the gates of Sunagakure has called in sick, and you are asked to fill in for the day until a more qualified replacement can be found.
Mission details: You can do this mission solo or with a partner. You will check two or more identification cards of civilians and/or foreign ninja and must decide if they may enter. There may be an uncooperative civilian who will try to get in the gates if denied.
Usually, guard duty was assigned to Chuunins of Sunagakure no Sato, however due to a shortage of active Chuunin for the time being, the current acting Kazekage, along with the council, deemed the task fit for Genin to do while they addressed other issues the village currently faced. While Seiryū would enjoy doing missions not deemed solely for Genin, the position of gate duty was certainly something that was menial and lacklustre in daily events. Of course, there was the prospect of certain individuals with unique traits showing up, perhaps even someone he could amuse himself with for a short chat as he worked, but the likelihood of such was rather low.
Closing his eyes, in hopes of letting time fly faster, as looking at the clock for the next few minutes wouldn’t speed up time; Seiryū went to idly thinking about anything that came to mind. Things such as what he’d do for dinner, what he could do tonight, or whom he could meet up with all floated in mind, yet he never reached anything conclusive.
As if to interrupt his thoughts, he heard the door shoot open with a loud voice following. “Oi! Imada! Wake up!” Slowly opening his eyes, Seiryū caught sight of the individual he had met when he was retrieving the runaway boy just a few days ago. Mura Koji, an individual that Seiryū couldn’t really identify as a friend, yet not an acquaintance either. If anything Koji fell in between the two, a friend, yet not one Seiryū hung out with quite often. “If you’re taking over for my shift, you should start getting on your feet. You got like… a minute left.” A groan mixed with a yawn escaped Seiryū as he stretched his arms over his head. His eyes travelled to the clock, denoting that he did indeed only have a minute left before his shift started. Luckily, for him, he had a rather short shift, only four hours, which would take him to four in the afternoon.
“No need to be loud about it Koji. I was wide awake this entire time.” He got to his feet a lazily made his way towards the door that would lead him out. Seiryū only heard a snort in return from Koji; likely thinking that Seiryū was asleep anyways, which he was. Without even a goodbye, Seiryū only nodded towards Koji to dignify a farewell for now. If anything, he’d likely find Koji later on in the day.
