The Mishun!:
While he wouldn’t usually mind doing such a task, as it was one of the easier things for a shinobi to do within the village that did not present any form of physical hassle, Seiryū couldn’t help but groan as he entered the guard station, somehow having arrived earlier than intended. As he swung the door open, Seiryū immediately headed towards the couch in the corner of the room, the very same couch he had seen the little boy sitting here a few days before, before having to take the kid home to his parents. Sitting down and releasing a sigh, Seiryū glanced towards the clock hanging on the far side of the room. From the time alone, it would be 10 minutes before his shift would start. Not enough time to take a nap, but enough time that it would tick by slowly. He assumed he would’ve arrived a few minutes early, but not a whole 10 minutes before he was required to start active duty.

Usually, guard duty was assigned to Chuunins of Sunagakure no Sato, however due to a shortage of active Chuunin for the time being, the current acting Kazekage, along with the council, deemed the task fit for Genin to do while they addressed other issues the village currently faced. While Seiryū would enjoy doing missions not deemed solely for Genin, the position of gate duty was certainly something that was menial and lacklustre in daily events. Of course, there was the prospect of certain individuals with unique traits showing up, perhaps even someone he could amuse himself with for a short chat as he worked, but the likelihood of such was rather low.

Closing his eyes, in hopes of letting time fly faster, as looking at the clock for the next few minutes wouldn’t speed up time; Seiryū went to idly thinking about anything that came to mind. Things such as what he’d do for dinner, what he could do tonight, or whom he could meet up with all floated in mind, yet he never reached anything conclusive.

As if to interrupt his thoughts, he heard the door shoot open with a loud voice following. “Oi! Imada! Wake up!” Slowly opening his eyes, Seiryū caught sight of the individual he had met when he was retrieving the runaway boy just a few days ago. Mura Koji, an individual that Seiryū couldn’t really identify as a friend, yet not an acquaintance either. If anything Koji fell in between the two, a friend, yet not one Seiryū hung out with quite often. “If you’re taking over for my shift, you should start getting on your feet. You got like… a minute left.” A groan mixed with a yawn escaped Seiryū as he stretched his arms over his head. His eyes travelled to the clock, denoting that he did indeed only have a minute left before his shift started. Luckily, for him, he had a rather short shift, only four hours, which would take him to four in the afternoon.

“No need to be loud about it Koji. I was wide awake this entire time.” He got to his feet a lazily made his way towards the door that would lead him out. Seiryū only heard a snort in return from Koji; likely thinking that Seiryū was asleep anyways, which he was. Without even a goodbye, Seiryū only nodded towards Koji to dignify a farewell for now. If anything, he’d likely find Koji later on in the day.

As he made his way out, there didn’t seem to be much of a crowd for individuals attempting to enter the village, though it was likely due to vastness of the desert surrounding Sunagakure no Sato, that people slowed down and trekked at their own pace. Seiryū tell just from a glance as he stepped out of the guard station that it was likely going to be a dull day, but it would bring him more ryo for a simple task. Taking a look around, it seemed that there would only be four other guards with him, as not too many resources could be spent in a single area given the current shortage of shinobi, yet the gates of the village would always remain one of the top priorities of the village, solely due to their importance for entrance and exit.

As he took his position in one of the guards’ booths at the entrance, Seiryū immediately turned his vision towards the land outside the village. While it wasn’t often that he trekked out that far, it was still part of his home in a sense. It took a few minutes before there was a sign of anyone coming to the village, yet soon enough Seiryū saw dots in the distance, on that could easily be identified as a caravan. Sometime would pass before they would be within earshot, thus Seiryū looked about the other guards, each seemingly as bored as Seiryū.

Once the travelling caravan had arrived at the gates, Seiryū easily counted to upwards of fifteen people with the caravan, a decent sized one, though he had seen a larger one quite a few years ago. Seeing as it was solely the caravan coming in for the time being, Seiryū figured that they’d split up the duties between identify the individuals and denoting if any proved to be a threat to the village.

As the group split up in to groups of three, Seiryū easily saw that the three coming towards him were related. From the faces, there was a resemblance between the youngest appearing one to the older female and the giant male. With a polite smile, Seiryū asked for their I.D.s which the male, he presume the father and husband, handed to him roughly. After quickly flipping through them, he noted that they all matched and they all shared a similar family name. Without much of another thought, Seiryū handed their I.D.s back to the father, offering a polite smile to him, his supposed wife and daughter. A light blush covered her cheeks while the mother giggled and led her forward. With a stare, the male followed after his family in to the village. Seiryū released a sigh, as he looked back to the desert. It looked as if more people could be seen in the distance, but fortunately, Seiryū’s allotted time was coming to a close, so he wouldn’t need to worry much about having to deal with a bunch of people.
