Bokuden
D-rank
How stark a contrast it was, the tranquil and bio-luminescent surroundings of the Waterfall Village’s Lake Eternia compared to the barren and almost eerily solemn dunes of Sunagakure. If not a home, in Sunagakure at least Bokuden had found a place to lay his head, and a purpose to push him forward. The dessert wasn’t an ideal location for him to rest at by any stretch of the imagination. Bokuden hated hot weather, and the sweltering heat of the mid-day sun in the middle off the dessert was not exactly pleasant for him. At night the temperatures would dip down to the cool numbers he had grown accustomed to in the mountains of Kaminari no kuni, but that did not necessarily make him feel more at home. The emptiness of the dessert had always left him with an uneasy feeling. When standing atop the peak of a mountain he enjoyed being able to see over everything all the way to the horizon. Standing atop a tall dune had yet to be able to replicate that feeling. There just wasn’t anything to look over. In the dessert one could see all the way to the horizon simply because there was nothing to be seen. The solitude was a vivid reminder of the path he had chosen for himself.
Lake Eternia on the other hand, looked like something straight out of a fairy tale at night. Takigakure wasn’t exactly the most highly populated of villages, only drawing crowds during vacation times or during the very rare large event like the chunnin exams, so much of the area’s natural beauty remained intact. Exiting the thicket of trees Bokuden would slowly make his way towards the lake shore, all the while taking in everything about the area, committing the experience to memory. In the background, the chirping of some kind of insect, he guessed Cicadas or crickets. The Ryuzoji wasn’t particularly interested in experiencing that part of the lake, finding insects to be disgusting, but their song made for nice scenery nonetheless. Upon reaching the edge of the water Bokuden would kneel down and skim his fingers along the water’s surface, watching as the ripples caused by his hand distorted the normally crystal clear waters. This was another thing that the dessert had a distinct lack of, water. Seriously, he had begun to wonder what it was that made him unable to get tied up with women who didn’t happen to come from the worst climate imaginable.
The parts about this lake that he enjoyed the most however, were the beds of flowers that grew around the shore, almost framing the scene in a surreal glow, and the very large lily pads that floated about in the waters. It just happened to be that under the cover of night was when he could traverse the area freely and without distractions, as well as when the lake was at its best. He wasn’t much one for crowds, and he had had his fill of festivals growing up in the Ryuzoji clan back in Kumogakure. Upon arrival he was unsure of what even drove him to come to Takigakure, but after having gotten to see the sights at his own pace in the dead of night he was glad he came. This place gave him a chance to escape all of the drama that the major villages threw at him, even the ones he was never a part of.
