Commissioning him, Honnari? Though the task itself was not daunting, he accepted it humbly. Giving him the honour to act in the place of someone more qualified was definitely a self-esteem booster. And with the thought of soon having his very first mission under his belt, he was practically beaming as bright as the sun.
With eyes as big as the moon, paper and pen, he trailed the village. Deciding to not only enjoy the mission, but to also make this an outing! He would have to mark places on his own map that had yet to be discovered, but with the others before him having been deeply thorough, he decided that it was best to set his intentions on undisclosed landmarks instead. There were already a few places that came to mind.
Perhaps the plentiful White Sonata cosmos, whom grow in a large field on the top of the Second Hokage's head? Though out of view from most, they have served as his botanical offering for his Altar of Flame. His gaze languished to the paper, and did his best to inscribe a rendition to scale of the flower field.
It wasn't half bad! And look, the late Hokage looked as if he had a flower crown on, now! He'd make a mental note to go pick some later.
This was proving not be hard at all. Were there any other places that he could think of? Save for his private shrine, there was that decrepit and weathered, Kumo marked citadel laying astute in the wilderness. As big and surprisingly secretive as it was, it deserved it's own landmark as well.
Pen craft worthy fingers deftly etched the building, as he shortly found himself there. Seeing it reminded Honnari of his revelation to, and new found closeness to God. And while he certainly didn't hold any false hope that someone else (not too unlike him), would also come and have the same awakening, Pulchra Noctem would allow to be so if They wished.
With that done, he wondered after other places that may have escaped his forethought. The options were narrowing themselves slowly but surely.
"Where should I consider? Surely they shouldn't be praying I arrive with an entirely new map, yes?" Humour aside, and as much as he was enjoying his time out in the sun, he wouldn't be to eager to still be doing this by dark. Perhaps he'd cave in, and just mark his shrine.
It wouldn't hurt. He did establish it the Leaf Village. And it was quite large too.
With that thought in mind, he headed in it's direction. As he'd mark on his map, all one had to do was follow the Naka River east, straight up to the ravine's highest point where there is a clearing. If one has eyes, then they'll see the Kumogakure engraved roof of the shrine. Surrounded by a maze of sakura and thick moss. Bugs hissed around him, as the area tapered to something more rural. The day became cloudy, and a raindrop or two peppered from the sky. His eyes were glued to our surroundings as he approached a sketchy looking, decrepit walkway through dense forest.
The walkway eventually lead to a clearing. The grass surrounding was almost knee high, and in the distance were tall, archaic, citadel style buildings the color of sand. They all gave off such chilling vibes. It seemed like an extension to his shrine. One that he had never seen before. Unlike the rennovated, frequented chamber he used for worship, these one's seemed rundown, old. They looked the byproducts of extremely hot days, and bitterly cold nights.
Not too far off from the land of fire...
"What's this?" He awaited an answer that would never come with baited breath. Upon closer inspection a vigil came into view. It was reminiscent of a fan his father used to strengthen the flames of his stove burner. Half of it was white, while the other half was a deep red.
Had his shrine been a former pen of the Uchiha? He knew little of the clan, save for their famous massacre, which still to this day remained on everyone's lips and ears.
How curious. Oh, and looked as if it hadn't yet made it's way on the map. Which was strange to Honnari, since there seemed to be other compounds near here that made it on there. Then again, this place seemed secluded. Perhaps it's placement was purposeful. Who knows?
"Later." Honnari thought. "I'll delve into this with more scrutiny."
For now he resolved, that that was all he could probably mark for now. Perhaps someone with better luck would take the task and excel where he did not. Despite feeling accomplished, he knew there were places that he must have over looked or just didn't bother.
He rolled the map away and set his sites on the adminstrations office west of his current location. Only looking back once to his shrine that now seemed shrouded in mystery. Now more than ever he had questions.
Just what was the Uchiha Clan? What could have warranted their untimely demise? And were there any descendants that could shed light on their dark history?
These thoughts formed a labyrinth in his mind. Carrying him all the way as he reported back.
