Kaiya

Kaiya smiled softly to herself as she looked down onto the empty stadium. This stadium was often packed with people when tournaments and the like we're being held, but on this day there was nothing really going on. It was a common enough place for people to train or spar each other when it wasn’t being used for an event. The arena was subdivided into 4 separate areas, which were often decorated differently. Sometimes they changed the terrain in each separate area to benefit a particular element or style,or to make it more tricky to by in. But today, as nothing was going on, it resembles typical terrain for the area. A mix of Sandy dunes and barren rocky outcroppings and boulders. Typical sunagakure terrain for the most point. Kaiya was looking forward to training a bit here. She didn’t particularly have anything that she would use for hard physical training. And there wasn’t any target sunnies and the like in the immediate area. But the sandy and rock laden terrain would be good for parlour exercises. Jumping over boulders, trying to maintain agility in the sandy areas, dealing with the small oasis-like section in one of the 4 arena sections, etc. Sure she was a sand ninja and was used to this type of land, but… it was good to practice anyway.

It was of particular importance to her more than some areas as a taijutsu user. Ninjutsu users could use long range attacks and shield themselves with walls of stone, water, and other such things. As a close combat fighter herself She had to be agile and mobile in all conditions. Well… that said she did have genjutsu, and she could do longer range combat well if she wanted to, but it wasn’t quite her style. Her inspiration was high speed gen-taijutsu. Blending genjutsu into taijutsu was a tricky thing, in part because the latter often required a setup. And it’s none too easy to trigger many genjutsu while simultaneously trying to block or dodge, let alone attacking. It was for that reason perhaps that she had never met someone who used both. That said, she hadn’t exactly gotten to witness many fights or sparring matches. So perhaps it wasn’t too uncommon. In any case, this kind of training would keep her agile. But what she really needed was a test run. Something more active than a training dummy. She could practice as many strategies and combo’s on a dummy as she wanted but that wouldn’t mean they’d work on a living, intelligent target.

Kaiya sighed softly as as she walked down the stadium steps, approaching the divided fighting area. As she did so she looked around. There were a few other people killing around. This wasn’t an uncommon place to train, spar, or meet up. So even without any events going on seeing a scattered group killing about wasn’t unusual at all. In fact she had come here instead of some other area in the hope that maybe, just maybe, someone would decide to join in or make things more interesting. Training alone got tiresome quick. Kaiya set foot slowly onto the sandy area, and looked around this section of the arena. Best start somewhere right? But first… stretches. Only a fool forgot to stretch before training. Many scoffed at this, but Kaiya didn’t fancy a charlie horse part way through a flip or jump and faceplanting. Of course everyone fell in training, but… Best prevent it if you could. Besides she always felt like her muscles protested less if given a warm up period. And with that, she walked into the middle of the sandy, section and planted her feet.

A slight breeze welcomed her as she did so, and sent ripples A cross her clothing. Today was all about functionality over form, but that didn’t mean she looked ugly. Kaiya wore medium brown pants under a sandy beige maxi skirt of sorts, which went down to about halfway to her ankles from her knees. An odd combo perhaps, but it was functional. Her pants kept her skin from showing and the flowing skirt helped promote airflow. It wasn’t too loose not was it tight. It had slits cut in the bottom much of the way up, which meant if she snagged somewhere the openings in her skirt would just let her keep moving without any hang ups. Her upper body was a rather basic tank top like design, in the same medium brown, covered by a light jacket of sorts, which was, like her skirt sandy beige with medium brown accents. It didn’t keep heat in, and it’s loose floating design promoted air flow. It’s loose, long sleeves ideal for shielding her from the sun. Hers arms were exposed down to the elbow, where brown and beige cloth armguards showed. They were cloth though, and had no real functionality other than covering her forearms. Though her upper arms and shoulders were exposed, they, and her face and neck, were protected by heavy duty sunscreen.

Kaiya smiled softly and began with a simple stretch. She placed her feet such that her right foot was facing left, and her left foot facing right, one against the other, and slowly squatted, her knees bending outward. She did this several times before bringing her heels off the ground and bringing her hands through the gap and onto the ground. Truly an odd looking stretch, one of her own invention. But it stretched both legs, both arms, and her core a bit. After a moment she stood up and stretched her arms forward and above her head. It was about time to get to work. Who knows, maybe she would even have fun.

Ren burned her feet through the sand, a small scratching sound as her shoes slid against the surface of the sand on her walk. Her basic ninja gear in tandem, black athletic shoes adorned her feet, working her way she had black sweatpants with red stripes on each side running down the leg. Her ninja pouch was tied neatly around her right thigh as it usually was. A white shirt today with her clan symbol in red on the front of it and her large brown gourd held by a single strap on her back. She lugged it forward her back arching slightly forward under the weight of that accursed thing, hating bringing it with her places that she didn't need it.

Today was different though, she needed practice with her jutsu, as if she were in a real combat scenario. Something she never had much experience with and given her disposition to death, the missions she took were often of a far more quaint variety. At least it wasn't as hot today, occasional cool breezes blew through the streets, bits of sand kicked up with them but that was nothing new. Instead, it was small breaks from the suns heat that she enjoyed so much, the coming of the fall season. The seasons never really meant much for Sunagakure and the land of wind, but to cool off to any degree would be a blessing for Ren. Even if it was still too hot most of the time.

Today she made it to the coliseum, the place where she had a quick spar with that Kaguza fellow, the four sections of terrain were perfect to unload and get some practice with her sand. At least, it would be good practice fighting in the climate of her own country, not so great with the rainy areas or forests or things of that nature. Arriving at the stadium, she entered into it through the winding hallways to approach the steps down into the arena. It seemed that only a single figure was there, stretching at the center of the arena, warming up for their own training Ren supposed. Oh well, there were three other perfectly good floors to train on, so the presence of others wasn't a problem in the slightest. Making her way down the stairs to the floor was slow and arduous as she would expect with all those stairs, keeping an eye on the stranger warming up down below.

It wasn't until Ren reached about halfway down the steps that the awkward form of stretching focused into view for her, a familiar face indeed, with some weird movements to boot. Ren stepped quicker, potentially giving away any stealth she would have had, stopping at the gate just over the arena floor to separate the guests and combatants. Leaning over it, using her left arm to grab the rail and hold her body back as she extended forward and pointing towards the floor with her right hand. Yelling towards Kaiya from on high to get her attention, "You!" the eccentric Ren shouted as loudly as she could across the floor.

Hopefully that would get her attention as she continued to lean forward and cupped her hand around the side of her mouth to amplify the sound, rather than pointing, "It's about time I found you!" she would continue on, and without hesitation from her speech, would use her hand to swivel and throw her legs over the railing. Dropping down and falling the distance to the floor, she would land on the ground and squat under the weight of her gourd, landing with a quick thud. Then with a smile she would run forward on the arena and close the distance between the two of them, hoping that Kaiya would have taken notice of her and figured out it was Ren by this time.

Ren would start off again before giving her any chance to react, pointing with her right arm and rotating her body with her right foot forward, a power stance of confidence to say the least, "I challenge you to a spar!" she would offer up with a confident smile and small chuckle before continuing on, "And I'm not taking no for an answer!" she chuckled again through her teeth as she held that powerful stance and waited for a response. Perhaps all her grandstanding was a bit melodramatic but after a moment of holding it or as soon as Kaiya responded, Ren would relax and laugh a little in transition, returning to a normal standing posture and waiting for Kaiya's response to all of it.

Kaiya continued her stretching exercises, noticing someone else defending into the arena themselves instead of milling around the seats chatting or growing bored and leaving. But it wasn’t until the person got around halfway to her that she began to recognize who it was. But they Definitely were noticing her around the same time. It hardly felt like a few seconds before Ren ran forward towards the rail and yelled out loudly towards her. Kaiya turned on the spot to fully face her. A small grin formed on Kaiya’s face as the melodrama continued, Ren cupping her hands around her mouth to ensure her voice was heard. ”Where have YOU been then? I haven’t exactly seen you either recently!” Kaiya grinned and turned slightly as Ten threw herself down. Dear lord that gourd looked quite hefty, Ten would need to be careful about just casually throwing herself over ledges with that. That said, it was Ren as typical. Why did Ren seem to love sweats in the desert so much. The last thing Kaiya wanted to do while training was give herself heat stroke. That surely wouldn’t help in any real way. Some kind of endurance training maybe? Training for even harsher conditions? Kaiya doubted that. No one else she knew could wear sweats so casually in a desert. But at least today was a cooler day considering, and had a bit of a breeze. That said, it was a cooler day to Kaiya, who was born and raised in the desert. To any tourist it would probably seem as scorching as ever.

Ren lifted herself and turned, pointing aggressively towards Kaiya, striking a pose supreme confidence. So, she demanded a spar huh? One heck of a flashy way to do it too. It forced Kaiya to force down a giggle. So dramatic. And because of her telling the few people killing around had taken notice too and all eyes were upon the pair of them. It’s be hard to get out of a spar now if she wanted to. Considering some came to the colosseum hoping to see a fight. If she tried to decline, they’d probably do all they could to egg it on. There was no way of working out of it now without possibly harming her budding reputation. But… Wasn’t Kaiya hoping for a chance like this anyway? Hadn’t she just been thinking about how it’s be better to get some actual combat experience? Even in just a spar? Kaiya had no real desire to back down now. Besides, now that the few onlookers were watching, she might as well give them a show right?

Kaiya smiled and pulled one arm out of her light jacket of sorts and pointed back, her other elbow resting casually in it’s sleeve opening. ”You sure you’re up to it? Oh well, if you insist… Any particular rules you’d like? Or just the typical sparing rules, no major injuries, maiming, etc.? We sand ninja shouldn’t go killing one another.” Kaiya saw a few people run out of the colosseum, probably to go tell people there was a fight. This would be interesting. Besides, neither of them could really back out anyway, and Kaiya didn’t want to herself. This was going to be fun. Besides, they had talked about their skills before. Ren was a Sabaku, a sand ninjutsu user. This would be good practice for her as a close combat type. Of she could get in close… but… Ren would do her best to stop that, or so Kaiya imagined.

Kaiya relaxed around the same time Ren did, and smiled broader in welcome. Kaiya relaxed as well, and shrugged her light jacket of sorts off, then pulled it out of the sash keeping it around her waist, before folding it and showing it under a large rock for safekeeping. Without the flowing jacket her look was noticeably different, her more form fitting shirt and cloth arm guards making her look sleeker, her slotted skirt blew in a light breeze for a moment as she stood up. For the first time it was revealed that Kaiya had a weapon in her back as well, or rather, weapons. A matched pair of sandy brown Honda rested on her back. ”Nice to see you again Ren, it’s been too long.” It was a fairly basic greeting, almost boring or calming, though the effect was ruined by Kaiya preparing herself for a fight while saying it.

”Where have YOU been then? I haven’t exactly seen you either recently!” she called out to Ren after she ever-so gracefully landed in the arena, or perhaps just the opposite of graceful under the weight of that gourd. Ren made her way over to Kaiya, a sort of stupid smile on her face as she cradled the back of her head with her right arm for a brief moment, her challenge to a spar seemingly not totally leaving Kaiya annoyed or offended by anything. ”You sure you’re up to it? Oh well, if you insist… Any particular rules you’d like? Or just the typical sparing rules, no major injuries, maiming, etc.? We sand ninja shouldn’t go killing one another.” she would continue on.

Ren would almost laugh! She was concerned about Ren being up to it, ha! What a ridiculous notion, Ren wouldn't be able to back down in the slightest from a challenge such as this, and not only that but she gave the challenge! Still, she would save her musings for herself and offer a steady smile in return as she thought about it, "No, no special rules from me? Typical rules sound good, thought I don't plan to push it too far? I can fix some of us breaking each other but I'm not a miracle worker." she would continue to offer with a bit of a laugh.

The pair stood in the lower half of the arena floor, dusty sand covered the area of the floor around them in uneven hills and waves of the dirt to give some leniency to battle rather than a flat ground. The arena itself would be 30 meters by 30 meters in what is roughly a square shape, or as close to it as could be. At the top of the pseudo-square would be an incline, running close to 5 meters at its height to separate it from everything else and give it some unique terrain, all made of that same yellow sand like the rest of the village. At the ten meter mark length wise (moving from top to bottom), there are two rock boulders each roughly 5 meters from the side edges, a cracked and jagged grey, each nearly twice the size of Ren or Kaiya. Another boulder of a very similar form sat directly in the center of the square at the 15 meter by 15 meter mark as a focal point for the scene. In the lower half, like two dots, there were two small mounds of sand roughly a meter in height and gradually inclining to peak like a hill rather than a mountain, each at the midpoint from the center and lower half and 10 meters from the sides and each other equally.

Ren would smile and jump to one of the mounds in the lower half of the stadium and call out, "It has been a little while, but I hope you're ready! I have lots of new techniques to try out here..." she would offer with a sly smile, dropping her gourd behind her after she was done speaking. Giving Kaiya a chance to get into whatever position she would choose to begin in, Ren would stretch out her head on her shoulders, extending her neck out and feeling the bones crack a bit from within as she waited for whatever Kaiya would have to say, otherwise, the first move would be up to her.

Kaiya smiled as Ren replied. Standard stuff then. Village ninja didn’t hurt each other over much usually. Sure you might end up with some bruising and cuts, but typically ninja sparring didn’t severely wound one another. Why? Well...it was just bad for the village. Of your ninja were injured how were they to respond in an emergency? Besides, the point was to grow stronger, not weaken one another. Kaiya nodded her approval as Ren seeming to follow the same line of thinking. This was going to be fun, and Kaiya was looking forward to this. She was Sure Ren would prove a powerful opponent. Largely at least because Kaiya had only basic Ninjutsu to rely on in a mid range fight. Academy Ninjutsu were nothing against real Ninjutsu. So this was a ranged fighter vs an up close fighter. But surely Ren had something prepared. You didn’t not prepare for something like that. Kaiya had worked on some ways to cope with longer range combat. But… She had never had a way to practice it.

Kaiya situated herself on the mound opposite Ren and reads behind her and grabbed her tonfa. She uncapped the tonfa, revelling their spikes before replacing the caps to ensure they fit snugly. She wanted it to be visibly clear that she wasn’t going to use the full potential of her weapons. She was fighting with sheathed sword in essence, lest she cause more than bruising. ”I’d rather no one gets hurt obviously, had to make sure those caps were firmly in place.” With that,Kaiya took a long, deep breath, her legs and feet shifting away from each other. One in front of the other, knees bent somewhat. Leaning slightly, her fists in front of her at center mass. This was a basic Muay Boran stance. Unlike muay thai, which was meant for professional fighting, muay boran had it’s roots in real combat. For example, in muay thai, the arms would be raised to protect the head better, because groin shots were illegal, and therefore they didn’t need protection. This would leave Kaiya wide open in any fighting without such rules. Muay boran just seemed to suit combat better. Is was why she had chose it as her first style of combat.

Another deep breath in, and a long pause. Kaiya centered herself mentally, adjusting and reigning in her mind, seeking focus. The people in the stands seemed to slowly blur away as she focused her awareness into the terrain and her sparring partner. Then, with a slow exhale, she began to run towards Ren. Kaiya was faster than many genin, but no doubt Ren would have some plans to keep Kaiya at bay. Or perhaps she would fake Kaiya out by purposefully letting her in for a trap? Who knew? As Kaiya ran, she held her fists and tonfa in front of her, prepared to deflect, dodge, or block with them if need be. They were made of metal after all, she could block or deflect With them if need be. Kaiya’s startling eyes taking in everything they could, waiting on the inevitable. No point starting out with too big a bang. Best size up Ren a bit before using any jutsu. Conserving your energy was important too. Otherwise Ren could just hunker down and wait for Kaiya to wear herself out.

Kaiya moved back and positioned herself on the mound opposite of Ren, not that she minded the theatrics of it. It would certainly help set up the scene between the two of them for what was sure to be an epic showdown of the skills of the genin of the village! Kaiya reached back and unsheathed her weapons for a moment the blades looked sharp to say the least, Ren exhaled heavily, the visible expansion and collapse of her chest moved in unison with the sound of her breath. A small tactic to help calm herself, clear her mind, get focused and thinking on what was ahead of her and what could happen. She'd been practicing her best to plan out scenarios and respond accordingly, to think ahead as far as she could but stay flexible on the spot and elusive all the same.

What did Ren know about Kaiya, genjutsu? A certain type... something about her clan, the details escaped her memory. Everything faded and slowed for a second as Ren got lost in her stare and train of thought. Kaiya re-sheathed her weapons but it wasn't until after she spoke that Ren snapped back into reality at the sound of her voice, ”I’d rather no one gets hurt obviously, had to make sure those caps were firmly in place.” Ren glanced around her quickly, taking note of the enclosed tonfa. Cracking a short smile and nodding along, understanding immediately that even though it was serious, neither were trying to get seriously hurt. Besides, Ren can't heal everything yet so best not to push things too far here...

Another heavy breath, almost in unison with Kaiya's. Ren lifted up off her feet setting her balance on that small mound so that she would be ready to move in at any moment. It wasn't a moment later that Kaiya began to dash towards Ren, quick as Ren could imagine any genin would be. Ren would hesitate sitting down into her stance and waiting for Kaiya to close the gap between them. A rather interesting tactic, Ren would wait until she had gotten closer to make her first move, jumping up in the air a few meters and rotating in a flip to build momentum on her strike. Once Kaiya was about a meter away from the hill that Ren had lept from, she would aim to time her fall and deliver an axe kick from above, using gravity and her rotation to build a very heavy swing. But then again, Kaiya could just outright dodge it and let Ren strike the sand with that right foot of hers. But she had a contingency, it was just waiting to see how Kaiya would react to her overly theatric movements.

Kaiya smiled again slightly as she ran, excited to finally test herself and all her practice. Surely she would do well. She was as fast as she could hope to be for a genin. Sure some genin were faster, that was inevitable. Her talents, so far at least, didn’t dwell on the realm of pure speed. Any genin blessed with some good speed genes, especially if they had taijutsu training focused on speed could probably outrun her. She was speedy, but Definitely not unbeatable among the genin. But… what she lacked in pure talent in running speed she made up for in talent with her reflexes. It was common among her clan. The Sakkaku might not blow you out of the water in running speed, but they had good reflexes. And Kaiya had a talent for it above and beyond her clan members. But… This fight would be a test of that. Was she really all that fast? She wasn’t so sure. Now would be a good time to find out though.

Ren leapt into the air, her goard left on the ground, which made sense. Kaiya briefly thought of dodging and running off with the gourd, but that was pointless, there was plenty of sand in the area. As Kaiya closed in, Ren stretched out her leg as she rotated, chopping downward as if her leg were an axe. If her right foot hit her with all that momentum from the rotation and gravity, it would hurt. What then, dodge? She could do it. She knew she could. But… that wasn’t what her instinct was telling her. Kaiya gripped her tonfa in her left hand (Ren’s right) and rotated it. The tonfa was 41 centimeters long, the handle was situated 10 centimeters from one end, the much longer end usually went along the forearm. As the rotation finished she had this typical position reversed, short end tuning along her wrist and forearm, long end protruding greatly. But a block wasn't what she had in mind. That would absorb more energy into her arm than she had a desire to put up with, and deprive her of a prime counterattack opportunity.

Kaiya raised her arm and attempted to send the long end of her tonfa, not protruding outwards, onto the side of Ren’s knee, aiming to bruise the knee, but more importantly, deflect the leg away from her. It it struck as planned, she would deflect the axe kick, and probably give the side of Ren’s knees a painful bruise. Perhaps it would be enough to mildly restrict or slow movement of the knee if Kaiya was lucky. But, if Ren managed to block the deflection, Kaiya’d take a bruise to the shoulder no doubt. If she only partially deflected it,it’d probably skid along the side of her shoulder and arm, liking giving her a rope-burn like effect.

But that was just with her left arm (Ren’s right), with her right arm, she punched forward, in an attempt to drive her fist, and the short end of the tonfa protruding from below it, into Ren’s left hip, in an attempt to strike the join between the pelvis and thigh. With only a genin grade weapon and genin strength, this would probably only leave moderate bruises. It would have been easier to dodge, but that would sacrifice the counterattack.

Ren's kick came down with force but Kaiya saw through it, perhaps the instinct of Taijutsu kicked in, a prowess that Ren herself didn't share nearly to any degree. She moved quickly, taking her tonfa and implanting it into the side of Ren's knee, it hit just behind the exposed tendon to the side of her knee, a painful place to hit nonetheless. Ren would grimace in pain but roll with the force of the low, her leg being distorted under the strike and pushed away from her target. It was gonna be painful for sure, a bit of mild bruising would be the least of her problems, immediate soreness and perhaps lingering as she would go along.

She twisted and rolled her body along with the momentum of her leg, building herself so that she would face downwards and would be parallel and horizontal with the ground now. Aiming to avoid any potential counter off her loss of balance by re-positioning herself to change the way they would have attacked and letting gravity carry her to the ground to land on her hands.

Once on her hands and if nothing else would interrupt her, she would compact her body and bring her legs towards her body. Remaining on her hands, her movements would be essential here, beginning to control the sand around their feet and amass it in Kaiya's direction, nothing more than a simple scare tactic if Ren could help it. A small chance to help get a break in the action as she would push off her hands and jump a few meters off to the side of themselves (moving north) to separate some distance between them. Assuming that Ren would make any of these maneuvers successfully, or sloppily, or under the pressure of a relentless attack from Kaiya would sway her next move. Whether to use that sand a little more offensively or if she would catch a break to regroup and gather herself for a brief moment.

Kaiya watched carefully as she took the hit to the knee, it knocked her leg out of alignment and her kick missed, stirring the air around her head and setting her hair to swaying somewhat.however Ren was thinking on her feet, or… Off her feet as the case may be, and used the momentum to swivel her body, and turn, meaning her hip had moved just out of the way of her thrust from her other hand. Kaiya kicked herself, had she timed that better she might have gotten both hits off. However,as he deflection and counter were a bit too far apart, she had given Ren’s body just enough time to get out of the way. Kaiya’s counter had done nothing it graze her clothes at best. It wasn’t too terribly surprising. This was why she needed these sparring matches. This was the kind of things he couldn’t get from solo training. Hopefully next time she would be faster.

Kaiya spinner tonfa around back Into the traditional stance. As Ren was falling. Oddly enough, Ren was coming in for a landing on her hands. Kaiya had to admit that took some guts, and a keen sense of balance. Hand standing itself wasn’t exactly easy, but landing on your hands without slipping? No doubt that took practice, or, again, a keen sense of balance. Kaiya say movement in her peripheral vision, and as her legs came in the sand started moving. An attack? No… She was too close to Ren. Unless her attack was precise, it would hit both of them. And considering they were not aiming for serious damage… it likely wouldn’t deal anything major.

Kaiya debated taking the possible attack, and barreling through, trading hits with Ren. But… hmm… It was hard, did she truly wish to give up her assault now? In a real situation, keeping up the attack can be vital. If she backed off, she could, no would, leave an opening for Ren to catch her breath. But… hmm. As the sand coalesced, Kaiya struck a compromise, and jumped backwards, skidding to a stop In the sand, putting a sizable 5 meters or so between them. Instead of striking out at Ren’s arms, as planned, she waited for Ren to get up or at least stabilze herself.

As soon as Ren would do so, Kaiya would tell lightly. Hey! Nice dodge there! If only I’d been a bit faster I might have gotten the counter too. But, beggars can’t be choosers right? At least I got the dodge.” Kaiya smile and began walking to the right, pointing the same way with her hand, and her index finger, all while speaking, starting around the second sentence and continuing.  She took a single step to her right as she spoke, then paused before walking slowly, but steadily to the right again. As if she would orbit Ren like a planet and star. It was similar to how boxers or other fighters might circle one another, waiting on one to make the first move. Of course, if Ren didn’t join her, she's just be walking circles around Ren as long as she stood still. ” I moved first last time. How about I play the patient person this time? Or not. Up to you I guess.” Kaiya smiled happily, stop walking right, in a circular motion, still pointing right with her hand and finger, as if indicating she wanted Ren to head that way too.

Ren found her chance, whether it was because Kaiya allowed her to escape backwards or her distraction worked out didn't matter for the moment, her arms had already gotten a bit sore from landing and pushing off of them. But still, she gripped her fists as she came to standing position and looked towards Kaiya, already feeling her breath beginning to elongate, more from the adrenaline than fatigue though. Kaiya called out in the short second from there, "Hey! Nice dodge there! If only I’d been a bit faster I might have gotten the counter too. But, beggars can’t be choosers right? At least I got the dodge.”

Ren laughed a bit and let a small chuckle go, she was right... though perhaps being a bit more humble about it. If Ren had learned anything in their first few blows and movements traded, then it was that Kaiya may be a bit faster, negligibly but still faster, and her ability to react was quicker than Ren's in a hand to hand fight. But Ren could react with her sand faster than herself, which means that's probably where she needed to focus her efforts, but Kaiya did... the strangest thing. She began by taking two steps to the right and pointed with her right hand as she stopped, then she continued on and began to circle Ren as she spoke, Ren turned and followed her with her eyes, mirroring Kaiya's movements to the right by also walking to the right.

Perhaps a bit of... strategic planning was in order? Of whatever she was about to plan here... thinking up a strategy with her next movement, she need something that could... give her an opening. ”I moved first last time. How about I play the patient person this time? Or not. Up to you I guess.” Ren smiled a bit, it was a taunt, and her weird movements, she wasn't sure what to make of the movements or her pointing but it was somewhat suggestive. Still, at the sake of avoiding a trap, she knew what she had to do here, a bit of subversion until Kaiya made her move. Ren had a large enough pile of sand here to work with and a few tricks up her sleeve, the first move, was to break the line of sight though.

It all seemed... a bit weird but still, Ren nodded towards Kaiya, "I think that's fair, but stay on your feet, never know what I'll have up my sleeve either..." she gave with a sinister snare of a smile and raised cheek. Then quickly, she pressed her hand into the ground and formed up a huge wall of sand, almost four times Ren's height at 6 meters and three times her width at three meters. As a jutsu it wouldn't do much of anything but separate Ren and her pile of sand from Kaiya and act as a barrier if Ren really needed it.

At the same time, Ren would also fashion a sand clone from the pile nearby her, giving herself a chance to replace her presence on the battlefield. Still, the real move would be on Kaiya at this point, how she would react to Ren's move and change of the battlefield. Then it would be up to Ren's clone to really, make some moves for her, having the clone version of Ren leap up to the top of the wall and spot Kaiya, wherever she would be, while the real Ren would hug the wall for a minute and try to stay hidden. At least long enough for Ren's clone to make a maneuver, calling out from on top the wall, "You shouldn't have let me free up all this sand to use... I hope your next move is pretty potent!" the cloned Ren would call out to taunt a little before jumping down to the ground below her.

Then dashing into Kaiya to engage her in hand to hand combat, she knew it wouldn't last long, but Ren wanted to draw out her move safely, edging to the very end of the wall and peeking gently behind it when Kaiya wouldn't be facing her. Having her clone move to the far side of Kaiya and turn her attention away from the wall, giving Ren a safe chance to spy out her next maneuver as she could. First The clone would jump and give a light spinning kick towards her head, nothing she couldn't counter out of then moving past Kaiya and drawing her attention from the wall like she hoped. The next move, well, that would depend on what sort of opening that Kaiya would give her, if any at all.
