Oh Sensei, My Sensei (Karumo / Private | No Kill | Flashback ) 21e5mc9
Book One: Dawn of Oomi
Chapter Three: Oh Sensei, My Sensei

-Prologue-

“Oomi!” It was the fourth time he’d called her name. “OOMI!” And that was the fifth. Still no response from poor old Harou’s slumbering daughter. Only now did he get up and march to her bedroom, frustration in every step. He’d wanted to avoid having to get back up. Already he’d gotten up once to answer the door, which ruined his relaxation enough. Hell, he’d even waited until a more reasonable hour to rouse the young woman and yet there she was when he opened the door, still sleeping.

An arm hung from the bed and with it dangled a leg that were it but a bit longer might have found the floor. Her body seemed precariously close to the edge of the bed as if she might slip off of it at any moment. This was a fate that had befallen her sheets probably long ago. There on the floor they lie bunched up in a mess. The pillow too had been evicted though it was tossed to the opposite side of the bed.

“Oomi…” Harou started. “get up, girl.” He went on to demand. He got a snore in response, which infuriated him. Legs attached to a six foot frame carried him to the side of her bed, the side of the pillow was on. She was going to pay for not hearing him. A swift kick was delivered to the side of the bed and a wide grin followed.

The shifting of the bed was enough -- Oomi went tumbling down to the floor where she sprawled out on her back. Surprisingly enough still sleeping quite soundly for a few moments longer. Or at least long enough for Harou to drop the letter that had been delivered earlier this morning on her belly and leave the room. When her eyes finally did flutter open it would take a few seconds before she realized she was in her room. A long night of training had sent a zombie back to her fathers apartment in Iwagakure’s Living Quarters.

When she finally gained some semblance of consciousness she finally noticed the letter and quickly opened it. Inside was a message; that she was to be meeting her new sensei this morning somewhere at the training grounds. Oomi leapt up and shouted some unintelligible garbled mess at the top of her lungs.

-Waiting for Sensei-

It had been just under an hour since Oomi received her letter, or rather since she’d read it. No time had been wasted in making her way to the Fissure Training grounds. Now stood anxiously in the center of a plateau atop of a pillar of rock. The plateau itself was about 20 or so meters in diameter, while the pillar stretched down just over 90 meters. A wood and rope bridge dangled from the plateau’s southern side, this being the only access to the area being that the other end of the bridge sat atop a rocky outcrop nearly sixty meters away. On the western side, just over 80 meters away from the pillar, the jagged face of one of Iwa’s many mountains sloped upward toward a peak hidden among the clouds. To the north stretched a vast serious of pointed and flat pillars of rock of various sizes. Tree’s poked up in the empty space between them, daring to transform the landscape so far below into forest. The nearest of those pillars of earth was 25 meters away. On the eastern side of the pillar a series of jagged mountains stretched as far as the eye could see, none much taller than the pillar until about 100 meters down the chain. Down below the pillar was a valley type area where other shinobi were currently training among the dirt, rocks and shrubbery. The plataeu upon which Oomi waited had been cut from this stone long ago by another shinobi who’s name had been since forgotten. As such it was near perfectly flat and had little to offer but small rocks and dust, though in northern side had begun to grow small tufts of grass here and there.

Oomi, who had been watching the bridge, pivoted on her heel to turn toward the northern side of the pillar. This was one of her favorite places, specifically for the view north of it. Not to mention it was peaceful up here, at least when there wasn’t another shinobi already present. Sun tanned legs carried her body toward the northern edge and in moments she was sitting, legs dangling over the side. Her only job for no was to wait, and wait she would.

While she did so, her mind wandered to what type of person her new sensei might be. There’d been a name included in the letter, though she didn’t recognize it. Thus she had nothing much to go on, but let her tell it he was going to be some kind of super ninja that would rocket her toward her goals and dreams.

Karumo sent his letter off early in the morning, he was hoping that it would arrive at it's intended place with plenty enough time to change her plans for the day. He had gone from delivering the letter himself to her door and then heading to check-in with administration before he began his day. His task list was relatively empty after he did some quick check-ins and final preparations for the mission he was about to leave on with Harichimo. And once he returned, he would be eligible to become a special jounin, to join the Oracles, and to take on a student of his own. He even had his eye on one student, which is where the letter comes in, he intended to bring her along and get to know her while going through his mission, and possibly even getting some training in early before the official announcement. He went from office to office, finishing off paperwork, he imagined that his student should be on her way to and nearly at the training grounds at this time, assuming she went fairly soon after he delivered his letter.

He quickly wrapped up what he could, making arrangements for the cart and supplies they would need fairly quickly before leaving the building. Stepping out into the fresh open mountain air, he looked in the direction of the village gate and the training grounds, the sun shone bright through the few clouds that were there. He flickered and ran off towards the village gate, moving at full speed and jumping from roof to roof, probably disturbing those within the buildings but he didn't really think much about it. It wouldn't be far too the village gate from the administration building, waving at the guard as he shot by the door to the village. He was glad he got to know most of the guys working around as chuunin and handling smaller tasks in the village, he hadn't done much recently but it was good to spend his time grinding because it had paid off. And now he was going on important missions for the village and taking on students soon as well, he may not be very busy today but his future would be very busy indeed.

Making his way through the wilderness he looked for the training grounds, Field 42, where he told his student to meet him at. It was a nice plateau that would do well for his simple and quick test and it would provide a nice view as well in the meantime. As he closed in on the gate to the field he slowed to a relaxing walk, the gate was open as if someone had already gone in to train. He entered in and closed the gate gently behind him, walking up the plateau and keeping an eye out for his student. The wind picked up and the air was slightly cooler out at the training grounds, he was glad he brought his jacket for this trek. Sliding his hands into his pocket he made the rest of the trip up looking down towards his feet and keeping an eye only on what was a few feet ahead of him.

He approached the top of the plateau, it was quite with a few birds hanging around on the edge, vultures and crows and the like, he looked around and noticed a girl off to the distance sitting and watching the sun and the surroundings. A few birds had been brave enough to venture near her, as he watched from a distance, having walked up the opposite side she was sitting on. He kept his hands in his pockets as he exhaled and headed towards her, he didn't know how long it would take for her to notice him approaching but he picked up his feet so they wouldn't shuffle but instead make light thuds on the rock. His nervousness began to take over as he approached, this going to be a future student of his, she had to have expectations for him, right?

He wondered what he should say, if just walking up behind her was the right thing to do, if the test and questions he had for her would be sufficient? Would her style be compatible with his and could he really teach her anything? He was even wondering if she would accept him as her sensei. It was quite nerve-wracking as he made his final steps before alerting her to his presence, this being his first attempt at having a student and having that responsibility at all.

Coming a few steps away he stopped, leaving his hands in his pocket and exhaled loudly and quickly, more blowing out air than breathing at that point. Like a loud sigh of relief as he began to think of what to say, Oomi, right? Is that how you say it? he said as he waited for her to turn and acknowledge her name, Well, I'm Karumo, you can call me Karu if you'd like, your choice. I'll be your sensei. Well not just yet, not officially, but very soon. he paused as he took his hands out of his pockets and stretched out some.

Continuing on as he stood there, There are a few things I'd like to accomplish today and a few things I need to make you aware of as well. You're role as a ninja is about to change a lot, your path in life is no longer going to be limited to guard duty and escorting the Daimyo's advisors around the country. From here on you have a chance to change your stature to become an important ninja to the village, becoming part of he hierarchy and maybe one day even leading ninja of your own into battle. his purple eyes followed her and watched her reaction. But that will really be up to you, I'm just here to teach youm how to think I should say, as well as to help you develop your skills to a degree but most everything will be on you. he took a breathe and then began to go again, So, I'd like to start by learning a little about you as a person. I'll lead as an example. I've told you my name, Karumo. A few things I like, well I like to learn and play strategy games like Chess or Shogi. I enjoy relaxing and hanging out with my friends. Other than that, I'm sure you'll learn kind of how I am and how I tend to be. he continued his ranting for a moment and taking note of her expression and demeanor.

Scratching the back of his head and looking at her with a bit of a grin on his face, If there's anything else you want to know about me now would be the time to ask. Otherwise, please, tell me a little about yourself. he said as he went and took a seat and began to look at the view she was looking at when he arrived.

-You are my Sensei-

In the few moments that had passed since she’d sat down, it seemed an eternity had slipped by. Ironically, this was the longest she’d sat still in quite sometime now — at least when she wasn’t sleeping, though the stillness of her sleep was up for debate. Even while she was still in the academy she spent most of her time on the go, training her body or some kind of jutsu. It was actually kind of nice to stop and admire the land of earth with its vast stretches of rolling mountains and plateaus covered in clusters of tall trees. A smile slipped across the young woman’s lips as she leaned back slightly, her arms stretched behind her to support her as she gazed upward at the sky. She’d not often enough stopped to realize just how close the village of Iwa was to the sky. It seemed that if she were to reach out she might be able to draw down one of the clouds so far away. The thought drew her mind toward envy of Kumogakure which she had heard actually sat among the clouds.

Now came birds, perhaps emboldened by the girls aura and far too trusting. They landed among the small tufts of grass that lie around her and peaked at the ground in search of meals. Others perched on the plateaus edge to watch vigilantly for other sources of protein. The smallest of them dared hop closer to the young kunoichi, and closer still until she might have been able to reach out and snatch it up. Eyes a steely blue followed it as it bounced around, never actually looking for food but seeming more interested in the girl herself. It tilted its head and Oomi did the same in response. Unfortunately the sudden noise of feet approaching robbed the little bird of its courage and with a leap and a flap of its wings it was airborne and circling the area as if still curious as to why the girl and now the young man were here.

Oomi didn’t turn to look at her new sensei until he’d spoken, having chosen instead to keep her eye on the bird. Though when he did she twisted slightly and flashed a wide grin. “That’s it!” She chimed in response happily just before standing up. Once she was up she turned to face Karumo and shifted her arms behind her back while leaning forward slightly as if it might give her a better view of her new sensei. “Ka-ru-mo~” She sounded out as if the man’s name was difficult to say. She simply nodded and allowed him to go on, her eyes wandering around his frame as he did so. He certainly looked the part of a Super Ninja that would rocket her to all her dreams and goals. To further confirm that what he was saying seemed to convey the same. As she listened she began to rock back and forth on her heels, until finally he was done with his introductory speech. Across Oomi’s face was plastered a wide and overly excited grin. She was taking what he’d said to mean that she was somehow special, selected to be groomed specifically for some important role in the village — hopefully that role was to be a Monolith and one day the Tsuchikage.

She was supposed to be answering with some facts about herself, but it was then that she truly noticed. “Oh. My. God.” She forced out in choppy bits as she slunk a little closer to Karumo. A second step put her face about as close as she could get it given their three inch height difference. “Your eyes!” She exclaimed, staring into what she was pointing out. “They are amazing!” She’d reach out to grab his face if he allowed it, whether he did or not her face twisted into a pout. “I want purple eyes. They’re so kawaii.” As she finished she let his face go if he’d allowed her to grab it in the first place.

A finger tapped against the corner of her mouth. “I bet I could train my eyes to be purple if I tried really hard.” Of course, she couldn’t and she knew that she couldn’t but that kind of logic had no place here. She was going to do this thing and nothing was going to stop her, not even genetics. “Right! I’ll have purple eyes just like you one day, Karu-sensei!” She shouted with a triumphant fist pump. “Oh! You asked a question and I’ve got answers!” She said as she slipped her arms back behind her back again and began to pace left and right. “Let’s see… Well, you already know I’m Oomi.” She started. “I guess you already know where I live, too. Hmn.” She tapped a finger against her chin, though left the unused arm behind her back. “Oh! My favorite things are; purple, fights, training, annnnd~ …monkeys! Oh and squishy things… and ramen! She finished as she finally stopped her pacing and turned to face Karumo again. She grinned and took up her fighting stance. Both feet were spaced no more than shoulder width, the right slightly further back than the left. Her hands were lifted to a position just in front of and slightly to either side of her mouth and nose. “I’m also the current Taijutsu Princess and future Queen, and will be not only a Monolith but the Tsuchikage one day!” That said she let her stance relax. “I guess that’s it. Oomi is an Oomi, mhm.”

Karumo awaited her reaction, at first she didn't turn towards him but gave delay. Once he spoke though she turned and began to exam him, and he to her as well, she smiled broadly and began to make sense of his name. He noticed a few things, that she was younger than him, but not by many years, probably had been out of the academy a few years of her own. She also didn't wear too much in the clothing department, he was actually a little surprised she wasn't cold out here in the mountains. But before he could comment and before she gave him any answers there was a still pause as her eyes widened and her attention was drawn straight into his. He raised an eyebrow and looked at her for the split second before she began to freak out. Apparently his eyes had some special factor that made him special, she grabbed his face and began to examine them, pulling on his cheeks and staring deep into his eyes. Having, what Karumo could only describe as a mild panic attack, over his eyes she ended up releasing his face after some slight resistance from him.

Followed not long by an affirmation to train purple eyes herself, Karumo shook his face and blinked his eyes, regathering himself and his composure. Right, now that that's over. he said as he turned his attention back towards her. As she gave her answers he watched her pace about, he payed attention to her answers but her body language gave away much more than she probably anticipated. He could immediately tell before she rambled long that she was spontaneous and would be quick on her feet, If I can teach her to see ahead in a battle then she could really be something one day. he thought to himself as she began to tell him of herself. Once she paused she stopped pacing and quickly took up a fighting position towards Karumo, who had crossed his arms and was listening intently. “I’m also the current Taijutsu Princess and future Queen, and will be not only a Monolith but the Tsuchikage one day!" she then relaxed her stance and continued on, “I guess that’s it. Oomi is an Oomi, mhm.” before ending.

He thought about it for a second before he continued on, looking her over before he made any final judgements, Right! So, just a couple of questions of my own. First, are you always this...chaotic? he asked rather plainly, not sure of the word to describe this ball of energy. And second, we have a couple of options for what we're gonna do today, honestly we could probably knock a few of them out but I'll let you be the decider. he would wait a second for her to answer his first question and ask any questions if she had any before he would continue on.

Once they were both caught up he would continue on, So, choice time, we can do... realistically... one of two things. Still your choice, but we can either have a quick spar here, I can find out some of your skills and weaknesses, and you can see where I'm at. Or, we can head back into the village and I can test your personality. So it's your choice. he waited to see how she'd answer, any shift in stature he would read and try to interpret. Honestly, he was going to do both, but this way he could see what Oomi would prioritize. He own physical skills and become a stronger fighter, or if she chose to hang out, then he would read her as more oriented to relax and become a smarter fighter. But before she could say anything he would add a little flavor to make it more interesting.

And to make things even more interesting, I'll say this. If we spar, and you win then I'll buy you ramen after, however if I win then you'll be buying. But if you choose the path of learning and return to the village then we'll each be on our own. he would say calmly after he knew she had thought about it at least some. Looking for any change in her expressions, another psychological experiment to see if his incentives could affect her decision at all. And further more, to let him learn about his student and how she would act.

- Decisions, Decisions! -

“Mmph.” Oomi nodded to Karumo’s proclemation of coming questions. The first however caught her a bit off guard. Had she really been… chaotic? The young girl tapped a finger against her chin and thought on it for a moment. This would be a moment of deep introspection for her — it lasted all of fifteen seconds. “Yes.” She nodded with her answer and slipped her arms behind her back. As she listened to the explanation of the second question she rocked back and forth slightly, seemingly unable to sit still for more than a few seconds at a time. “Oooh, decisions! It’s like picking a flavor for the day! Hmmmmm.” She drew her right hand forward and rubbed her chin as if she were trying to make a decision, despite not being told the options yet.

As if the realization that she didn’t actually know what she was deciding on had fallen out of the sky and hit her, she dropped her hand and set her gaze on Karumo. “What are the choices?” She asked, and he continued with his explanation. Before he’d even gotten to the extra particulars of the choices Oomi was already back into her muay thai stance a wide grin smudged across her face. “That’s an easy choice.” She mused.

Yet, still Karumo added extra spice to the dish. “Free Ramen. Confirmed.” She nodded just before drawing in a deep breath which she exhaled slowly. “I’m so gonna win, Karu-sensei~” She chimed afterwards. “Nothing will stand in the way of me and free ramen!!” She shouted.

Oomi’s right foot was slid back a bit further than her left, both at about shoulder width. Barely noticeably she bent her right leg, preparing to move forward and begin her assault. “Ready. Set. Go!” That was all the warning that she was going to give him. In truth it was probably too much, but it would have been in poor sport to not tell him that the fight was starting. Besides, this way he’d have no excuse when she won that free ramen he was talking about. Yep, all that confidence and then some.

At the sound of her shouted ‘Go!’, Oomi pushed forward from her right leg while stepping forward with her left. The movement gave her the momentum she required to throw her opening punch; a straight right to the center of Karumo’s chest. This was immediately followed by a second step forward and another straight, this time with her left hand. She wasn’t expecting to actually hit him yet though. This was her test, this would be how she determined how hard she had to fight. As if she might be able to fight hard enough to beat the man in the first place. Still, she was sure that she was capable of it and though she may not know much… she was born for taijutsu.

Just as Karumo imagined, Oomi chose to spar, and to be honest he was a little glad, this would let him know everything he needed to for the time being. But she was busy going about how locked up it was for to win the ramen meal from him, he chuckled to himself as she went on, Like I would make it that easy to win. he thought to himself as he gathered himself and stretched out his neck. He removed his jacket and began to fold it as she prepared herself, he didn't pay much attention to her until she called out, “Ready. Set. Go!” to which his eyes shot up. He figured she would be eager given how energetic she was but he wasn't fully ready for it, he channeled some chakra into his jacket and watched as she charged forward. Tossing the black jacket to his side, leaving a solid grey t-shirt behind, the jacket fell with his clan symbol facing up.

Oomi rushed forwards at him, from her bit about being the Taijutsu Princess he knew that she'd be taking this to that avenue to start. Something that in Karumo's days in the village he had been all too familiar with handling. He watched as she closed the few meter distance and punched right for his chest, Such simple movements and with no ferocity. he thought as he swatted the punch away from her wrist and grabbed the second punch that followed. Holding onto her hand for a moment to create a pause in the action he spoke, Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. I was expecting more from the Taijutsu princess to be honest. Feel free to use everything you have to attack me, if you're not trying to kill me you'll never win the free ramen. he leaned in for the last sentence, almost taunting her. He wanted to see everything, at it's peak, not these simple combinations.

He would release her hand and jump backwards, She should have ninja tools on her, let's see how she handles this one. he thought while jumping back. He quickly signed through some handseals, (Dragon → Rat → Horse → Tiger) before he hit the ground. Then once he landed several rocks around him would begin to shake and float up into the air, after they would compress down and begin spinning like shuriken he would let them fly at her. None aimed directly for anything important, just ten sharp and spinning objects all flying at her and around her. He would set his stance and wait to see what she would do to counter-act this and to see what she would after that, it was now time for her to show him something worthy of being called the Taijutsu Princess.

- The Taijutsu Princess -

He didn’t seem to take her seriously, taking his time to remove his jacket and toss it aside even as she moved in for her first attack. It was painfully obvious why he’d not thought her a threat. He easily swatted the first punch aside and the second was caught in his own hand. Oomi sucked her teeth as he taunted her, as he taunted her claim. She’d spoken the truth! She was the Taijutsu Princess!

Oomi kicked her left leg forward toward Karumo’s abdomen. Unfortunately, he was already on the move having released her hand and leapt back away from her. This left nothing but air for Oomi to kick and thus she was shifted forward slightly with her kick and nearly thrown off balance, having put all of her strength behind it. “Ugh.” She huffed in disgust with herself. Though immediately her stance was renewed. Her eyes narrowed on Karumo as he performed a seals of rapid hand seals. She could almost recognize the combination, but almost wasn’t nearly enough. She’d have to wait and see. No point in rushing in just to get knocked on her ass by a jutsu she already knew was coming.

It would happen that her decision to wait, worked in her favor. Small pebbles and rocks were drawn from the ground and flattened into sharp weapons; shuriken. Ten of them in total. Oomi’s lips slipped into a wide grin. He wanted to see more from her, he was going to get it. The young girl drew a vast amount of air into her mouth and quickly exhaled it in a somewhat powerful stream of chakra infused wind. The stream was directed ahead of her toward the stone shuriken which were headed towards her. The simple jutsu would easily knock them away, leaving them to fall far short of their target. As Oomi did this she kicked off the ground and allowed the force of her wind stream to push her back to just 4 meters from the edge of the plateau. This was more than enough space.

Oomi’s smile returned and like a bat out of hell she darted toward Karumo, quickly reaching her top speed in the space between them. Not that she was all that fast at the moment, more training was required for sure. This the young kunoichi realized and even as she ran toward him she manipulated the flow of her chakra throughout her body, shunting it to the eight gates around her body. This would increase her speed by one rank, giving her a sudden burst of speed that might catch even Karumo who seemed unimpressed thus far off guard.

When she was within arms reach, Oomi took a last left footed hard step forward and feinted with her right hand. A false right hook which she twisted her body with, aimed somewhere about the 8th to 10th ribs in Karumo’s side, that stopped about half way. Even as that hook stopped, Oomi threw a second punch, a swift left jab that if successful would find Karumo’s jaw. Whether this was successful or not she followed up with another right hook, this one aimed a bit lower for a place just beneath Karumo’s ribs. She wasn’t done, however, with the motion of her prior punch she stepped across her body with her right foot. This set her body into a spinning motion, which as she did she she looked over her shoulder, keeping her eye on Karumo. With the spin she brought the heel of her left foot around fiercely toward the side of Karumo’s head. When the kick was finished her left foot would be placed slightly behind her body just beyond shoulder with. This enabled her to push up of the ground somewhat and forward from her right foot, thrusting her right elbow downward, with the aid of gravity, toward the soft bit of flesh between Karumo’s neck and collar bone, as if it were a dagger she meant to pierce him with.
(Right Hook [Feint], Left Jab, Right Hook, Spinning Heel Kick, Elbow)

That done she’d land and retake her stance, a wide grin on her face. The adrenaline was starting to pump through her veins. This was why she enjoyed fighting so much. She might have lost all feeling in her body, but she could still feel the chemical pumping through her. It was like a drug, and she an addict. Oomi bounced on her feet slightly and prepared to begin her next combination.

Karumo watched her kick as he jumped backwards, maybe hoping to land a punishing strike before he could get anywhere but it failed. His jutsu followed not long after, something simple to push her a little bit further. He watched ready to leap into action as she pushed a large amount of fuuton from her mouth and knocked the projectiles away. Karumo's eyes widened as he saw it happen, Not a bad move Oomi, not bad at all. And you can use a little ninjutsu, now that's something I can work with. he smiled as he saw her continue on. She smiled even though she was getting dangerously close to the edge of the plateau, then with ferocity she darted towards him, moving quite quickly and then suddenly, not long after she was going, she burst forward even more. Throwing his timing off by just a little bit, he watched as she stepped forward and spun, throwing a right hook towards him.

He would fall backwards to avoid it, trying to give her a chance to make something happen, he was a bit overconfident with his substitution sitting by at the ready. Landing on his hands and letting himself become a human arch he watched as she continued on, her combination growing more fluid and complex. Good, this looks like something worthy of a Taijutsu Princess. he thought as he rotated his palms on the ground so he could push off of it. He watched the left jab start to come forward, anticipating where he would be but instead, he began to flip backwards and used his leg to kick her hand upwards and deflect the kick that way. Using the kick as momentum he would throw himself into a handstand as quickly as he could then bring his legs down and flip back into a standing position. As he got back to his feet he started to get his eyes back to Oomi and what she was doing he saw a right hook aimed right for his midsection.

Thinking about what to do from there he did all he could do and grab her hook and throw it to her side, in the same direction she was already beginning to spin. She was quick on her feet and continued through with a kick aimed at his head, though this time with his arm across his body and him slightly leaned in he would take the full brunt of it. Her heel coming straight across his cheek, drawing his face to the side and pulling him along with her foot. He watched it happen and couldn't do much about it, it was good he would admit, but he needed to see more, he wanted more before he would concede defeat. She then continued on one more time with an elbow aimed right for his neck, whatever that soft squishy part above the shoulder was, and with him still reeling and recovering himself from the kick he prepared to take this one on full force as well.

Only this time he would activate his substitution, merely to break her chain of attacks and to reset the battlefield. As soon as she landed the blow a puff of smoke would appear and the loud audio cue along with it, leaving his jacket from earlier there to fall to the ground. And Karumo, jumping back several feet and looking at her. She regathered her stance and was reeling to go for another round, he could see it in her eyes, the adrenaline of the battle had kicked in. Karumo landed on the ground and rolled his neck, like a taunt to tell her to push harder and give him more. She was bouncing on her toes and waiting for something to happen. He would call out before making another move, Come on Oomi, there's no substitution this time, you're next move may earn you the free ramen. No holding back now, we're nearing the end of our battle. he called out while chuckling to himself. He found it funny but he intended to see how quick on her feet she really is, and if not then she would certainly pay for it.

As soon as she would move he would form a seal for a singular shadow clone, coming to life in a poof of smoke next to him. He would then have himself and the clone charge forward towards Oomi and attack her head on. Switching places with the clone and himself to throw her off he would have the clone charge at her side and slide, bringing his leg out and spinning his body to deliver a leg sweep. While at the same time Karumo would deliver a heel kick directed for where her head was, but spinning in the opposite direction. This would force her to either step up her next technique, take one of the hits and avoid the other, or take both hits if she would wait too long to react.

Oomi was fast, probably one of the fastest Genin around all things considered. Yet, still Karumo out ranked her in every way. Despite, she’d managed to land a solid blow on him. Hell, technically she’d managed to hit him twice. Though her final dropping elbow had been thwarted by a substitution technique. Even as Oomi bounced about, an adrenaline filled smile on her face, she cursed herself for having not seen the substitution coming. If she was more perceptive she might have realized that the removal of his jacket was more than what it had seemed. No matter, she’d proven that she could lay hands, or rather feet and elbows on him. If he was taking it easy on her then she was going to use that to her advantage. She had no other choice. The first failed punches proved that she wasn’t actually fast enough to hit him. She was going to rely on his holding back and her ability to string combinations together near seamlessly. She’d make him pay for taking it easy and leave him with no where to escape.

“Ha, of course my next move is going to win me that Ramen!” She shouted pridefully. Of course, the truth of the matter was that she was afraid Karumo’s next move might put her on her ass. He’d increased the distance between them yet again and if experience proved useful here he was going to attack. She’d already discerned that, at least during this fight, he was prone to attacking when there was space and time for him to do so. With that in mind she assumed that he was no Taijutsu ‘master’ like herself. This meant she had a small advantage where that was concerned. If she realized this, then he more than likely did as well. But what did that mean he would do next? Another jutsu? Perhaps more shuriken? Surely, he couldn’t perform that technique a second time so quickly, but perhaps he kept actual shuriken on his person just for that purpose.

The young girls mind was racing, a new thought springing to life with each beat of her heart. She might have been an impulsive and chaotic fighter, but she certainly was no slouch. She prided herself in her prowess in battle. However, her inexperience was bound to rear its ugly head… and so it did. Despite her better judgement she decided to rely on her speed. Whatever Karumo was going to do, she’d be able to avoid it if need be. What she needed to do was close the distance between them again, she needed to get in close where she was feeling that she had some kind of advantage, however small. Again, the thought being that his holding back just might grant her the precious seconds she needed to deliver a devastating blow. Not that she was actually sure it would even work. The technique was iffy at best, and her physical strength just might not be up to par.

The entire time, Oomi had continued bouncing from her left to right foot, however, now when her right foot hit the ground she took off in a burst of speed toward Karumo. Still her clans most basic technique was active, increasing her speed. Unfortunately, she’d not have the advantage of surprising Karumo with the burst. She’d probably already become accustomed to her swiftness by now and realized how much faster he was. It wouldn’t matter though. The instant that she took off, Karumo himself moved into a sprint. With a shadow clone at his side, no less. Karumo and his clone launched a simultaneous attack against the girl, one high and one low, both spinning with a kick that at first glance made this new technique seem near impossible to avoid.

Oomi was the Taijutsu Princess, however. Control over her body came as naturally as breathing. As Karumo neared she stutter stepped and kicked off the ground into a forward dive. The stutter was to take advantage of the opposing spin of either kick. This meant that there would be a brief period in which both Karumo and his clone would leave a large gap in their attack. Through this gap, Oomi was going to dive. Unfortunately, however, being so much slower than the man left her off target by just a bit. Thus, instead of making it through the gap safely the clone’s kick collided with her foot just as she was kicking off the ground causing a certain wildness to her dive. Instead of hitting the ground behind Karumo and rolling back to her feet, she instead move between the kicks and hit the ground face first — sliding just a bit.

Almost. Oomi pounded a fist into the ground. “UGH!” Almost doesn’t count. Still, Oomi bounced up as if she’d never been on the ground and turned to face Karumo, who she assumed had landed by now. Scrapes from small rocks imbedded in the plateau streaked across her face, a few of which leaked small amounts of blood. She couldn’t feel it, and perhaps that was a good thing. “I like it, I’m going to steal that move one day.” Some day after she learned how to make clones, it had never been one of her strong suits. She’d never really seen the purpose in them, or rather her pride in her own skill had never allowed her to see the benefits of creating a clone. It was obvious now though. The girl slid back into her muay thai stance, ready to continue. She was having more fun than she’d had in a while.

She’d just found her new addiction, something to compliment her love of adrenaline… she find people stronger than her… she’d test herself against them until there was no one left to defeat, until she was the strongest there was.

Karumo and his clone went through his combination, their attack pressed on and it became evident what they were going to do from the start, doing their best to make their movements obvious. It was as they slide and began their rotation, aiming to knock Oomi off her projected path that she began to react, first a step and then a leap and soon she was trying to dive between their attack. But it seemed he had moved just a tad bit faster than she had anticipated as she was snagged on the clones sweep, her dive becoming ungraceful as she soon met with the ground. She began to pound the ground as both Karumo and the clone noticed, not knowing if it was some ninjutsu and taijutsu combination, they both quickly jumped back and began to observe her. Leaping back and stepping further still to make the distance between them and Oomi each 5 meters, with one on each side but still in the peripherals of her eyes.

She jumped up to her feet and remarked about how she was going to steal that move one day, Karumo himself smirked, You can if you want, but I have a feeling you'll come up with better things. he thought to himself as he watched her position herself and get ready again. Both of the Karumo would watch her, it seems with each move he made it would only reaffirm her to struggle on and continue the battle, a very good trait to have Karumo thought as he planned his next move. He was looking to wrap up this spar soon, and push her to her limit, whatever that may be and find out if she had any techniques she was hiding up her sleeve. His real body glanced towards his clone and the clone returned the gesture, as if they had non verbally knew what the other was going to do and how to act from here.

It was time for his final test of this spar and to see how well her intuition and her battle instincts are, and how well she'll be able to react in a hairy situation. He knew his next combination would put her in the way of taking a serious injury so he knew he had to make it count and hope that she could react quickly enough and with some cleverness behind her as well. Both he and his clone leaned in and picked up their stance, nothing more that squatting slightly and eyeing into their target. As they sighted in Karumo himself called out to her, I like it Oomi, you show some instinct by diving through us though you should have known we were faster and reacted sooner. And further more you should have thought ahead to what you would have done should you have made it through and a contingency for even if you failed and were hit by us both. I know it's not a real battle, but falling like that may mean life or death one day for you, perhaps it's an instinct you'll have to learn through experience, but now I'm going to truly put your experience to the test! he yelled out the final few words as the muscles in both his and his clones began to twitch.

Karumo himself jumped backwards and formed the horse hand seal, he was about to deliver a large katon jutsu straight at her, while his clone charged right for her. The clone intent on distracting her or restraining her while the jutsu would have a chance to make contact, it would take some clever decision making to figure this one out and he knew that much. Once he would make his first movement he would inhale deeply, building up chakra and converting it into a black ash substance in his chest and then he would begin to spew it outwards towards here. The cloud of dust taking form it would be detrimental to breathe in and she would most likely figure that out soon. All the while his clone would be closing the mere 5 meter gap he had created initially reaching his arm out towards her shoulder in an attempt to grab her, there was no way he would let her get away so easily.

It would now be up to her to react before Karumo could ignite the gas all while his clone pushed the gap and would try to force her to stay on her toes and be clever.

- Breaking Bad -

Oomi’s lips curled into a half smirk. She’d gone down but her actions had seemingly impressed her new sensei, at least enough for him to acknowledge what she’d done. This softened the sting of her failed attempt at dodging his attack. Still though she felt the urge to prove that she was better than that. She nodded when he finished his bit of advice. “Got it! I wont forget!” She announced as she began formulating a plan. Already he was at least 5 meters away, a distance she could close fairly quickly but he’d already proven to be faster than her. She wondered what jutsu he might use next and if she’d be able to react to it in time if she charged him again.

As if he knew that she was considering another attack Karumo jumped back a bit further, increasing the distance between them. With it he also increased the likely hood that she’d not be able to get close to him before he performed another jutsu. Which, ironically enough, he was already preparing. Oomi’s eyes darted between he and his clone, which was already on the move as well. He’d told her to consider all the possibilities. The young girl’s mind raced, but she was drawing blanks. Until it finally hit her. A quick series of handseals were made; she’d deal with the clone first, though she was still unsure which of them was actually the real Karumo.

Her hand seals completed, a massive river of mud formed in the dirt beneath the clone’s feet. The three meter wide river would drag it back 5 meters, giving Oomi just enough time to take steps against the cloud of smokey ash that was spreading toward her. At first glance Oomi assumed that the jutsu was meant to mask Karumo’s movements. She wouldn’t realize what the cloud was actually for until it happened. Still, she did realize that the cloud could only be in use to set up another jutsu of some kind, or even for him to attack her physically.

Oomi sucked her teeth. She had to try. The girl summoned fuuton nature chakra to her hands after performing the bird hand seal. With that she darted forward toward Karumo and his clone. As the clone was sliding backward in the river of mud, or otherwise if he’d dodged it, Oomi fired 2 air bullets in his direction; one aimed at about the center of his right shoulder and the other at his heart. Realizing that she was still unsure if he was the real or the fake, Oomi decided to fire 2 more bullets at the clone. Desperate times called for desperate measures, she was going to over use this jutsu at the cost of her chakra. With a little luck things would work out for her, but this also probably wasn’t the best of plans. The 2 new bullets that she fired were aimed at the clones gut, left shoulder, and right leg. To be honest, she was working from memory here. She could only hope that the clone hadn’t moved and that her river of mud jutsu had been successful. Otherwise, she was missing completely as the clone wouldn’t be on the trajectory she’d thought.

Whether she was successful or not, Oomi pressed onward. Her goal was to stop the Karumo that had created the could of smoke. Unfortunately, by now she’d completely lost sight of him. Still, her thought was that he’d be busy preparing another jutsu and wouldn’t even see her coming. If she was lucky, she’d burst out of the smoke and stop him before he did whatever he was going to do. A big risk, but worth it. He wouldn’t be expecting that right? Kyōkatai was increasing her speed, but she was unsure if it would be enough. A hard decision was to be made. Give up the element of surprise or take the chance that a few well placed air bullets might disrupt her sensei?

Oomi gritted her teeth and fired a single air bullet in the direction that she’d last seen Karumo. She’d come behind it soon after; flying through the smoke with her right knee stretched forward and her arms held up ahead of her body and face for protection should the Karumo that may or may not be there attempt to counterattack. A flying knee from nowhere, that would get ‘em right? If so, he’d find a knee in his chest. Afterwards, Oomi kicked her left leg forward toward Karumo’s right shoulder. If successful, she might managed to knock him to the ground, after which she’d extend her right leg and quite literally step on his face. If she did it, that would certainly stop him from doing whatever he was going to do right?

She could only hope. Either way she was exhausted now. She’d put everything she had into that, fail or not she was quite proud of herself. But hey, at least she wouldn’t feel it right?

As Karumo began to act he quickly lept into analyzing each and every move she made, his every move had to be precise in order to keep everyone safe. Lucky for him his clone was near her and not himself, which would mean that they both might walk away scot-free. Karumo's Burning Ash technique began to fill the plateau with the black smoke, his clone lept into action and so did Oomi, he would commend her for her quick action, though it may not have been the best plan of action there was some degree of value in wasting no time. It would only be seconds before he would begin to stretch his lungs and push all of the ash outward, less than a few seconds to completely cover the plateau and a little beyond that. And then not much longer after that he would bite down with his teeth, enough force to crack against each other and create a harsh cut in the ash and a spark to ignite it. It would be up to his clone to act and get the both of them away or to help her beat the impending explosion to come, at the risk of both of them.

His clone watched her for a moment, break down her options and begin to weigh which threat was more pertinent and dangerous to herself. He watched her ignore the smoke, which ended Karumo's clones decision, had she decided to deal with the real Karumo he might have helped her out and saved them both, with Karumo being numb taking the damage wouldn't be a huge deal. But since she turned her attention to the clone heading after her he knew that he had to act, and find a way to get them both out of the way or off the platform, maybe? He watched her make her hand signs and then a river of mud began to pour out, which was actually perfectly timed, the mud river technique he had seen before usually would push him back quite a bit and near the edge of the plateau, which would be a good escape route as far as he was concerned. But the trouble for him now would be how to get her out of harms way, with a cloud of explosive ash beginning to work it's way around them, it was as he began to slide back that it hit him.

His clone extended out his hands and began to funnel chakra in the form of chakra strings, the puppet technique, to grab onto her and pull her away from the smoke and towards the clone. Using multiple control, he would make a string for each finger and aim to attach as many as he could wherever he could. He didn't know if she would see it or be able to react to it effectively but he had to try to break her movements and prevent her from moving on and destroying the clone or putting herself further into the ash cloud.

If he was able to get his strings attached he would use all of the available strength and focus he could gather to pull her towards himself with quite a jerk and then grabbing her in a bear hug fashion and jumping off the side of the plateau before Karumo himself could ignite the ash. And it wouldn't be long from when he started his technique to when he would be in a position to destroy the plateau. Karumo himself had a similar idea to jump off, stepping back quickly to the edge as the ash formed, going to jump back and ignite the gas once he was confident he had given the other two a chance to act or get away. Hoping to turn his extremely destructive Burning Ash technique from a threat to more of a grandeur way of destroying a plateau.
