Today was another day of hard work for Hikarou Chi of the Leaf. The grass squeaked under his pivoting feet and the wind whistled with each movement of his body. Though fighting a lifeless opponent, the Genin refused to take it easy. Each punch and kick acted a small step toward the future, and the sounds of his determination reverberated throughout the training grounds. Crack after crack blasted through the air as Hikarou relentlessly assaulted the defenseless stump. But after hours of this, the sunset had finally drew nigh. Hunched over and gasping for air, the exhausted Genin decided to take a break. Quickly, Hikarou spun around, pressed his back on the stump, and slid down. His body went limp with satisfaction and a smile crossed his face.

His mind began to wander forward, into the impending Chunnin Exams. However, the young Genin knew he was not prepared. He needed more jutsu, more training, more techniques, more intelligence, and more will to succeed. But this would only come through working away the sunlight, and Hikarou knew time was a small price to pay for dreams.

However, the question of methods persisted. Would he simply toil away on a tree until the exams, with no company but the sounds of his labor? He thought to himself, 'Surely there is a better way to train.' But he knew very few ninja in the Leaf Village, and absolutely none who could assist him with his predicament. Luckily, the head of his clan would be teaching him a few new jutsu in the immediate future. But, until then, the lone ninja needed to figure out a more efficient way of training.

After much thought, Hikarou was feeling revitalized and ready to continue training. So, the Chi ninja jumped up on his feet and spun to face his lifeless enemy. He was almost out of time, only having about an hour and half of training left. 'It is time to stop messing around. Whether I have a training partner or not, I need to continue to grow. Moving slowly is better than not moving at all, and the Chunnin Exams could be starting any day now.'

And so the cracks began to fill the air once more.

Yoichi walked, singularly focused on one thing in his mind. He was thinking about how interesting the Chuunin Exams would be, and what a test of his abilities they'd provide. After all, his only real challenge to this point had been Neci, and even he wasn't really all that big of a deal. A chuunin, supposedly, but one weak enough to have to turn tail and run. Arrogant one, that one, although, Yoichi supposed he'd earned being a Chuunin somehow. Although, fresh as a genin, Yoichi had beaten him. Perhaps some of the other genin in the exams will provide more of a challenge to him.

It was for this reason that Yoichi was approaching the Training Grounds, as he'd been lately. Getting his practice in, honing his skills, his talents, his basic power. Rarely did he utilize jutsu, and not in the sights of others. After all, Yoichi needed to maintain his anonymity. If people knew what powers he possessed, they could develop counter measures, ways to beat him. That wasn't something Yoichi wanted to divulge. It was the main reason he wouldn't go all out in the exams either. He'd developed ways to bring up the power of his jutsu immensely, to make normal jutsu lethal. Jutsu people would expect to do only minimal damage would prove fatal, allowing him to get in surprise attacks as someone thinks they can take a hit.

He'd refrain from doing so in the exams. After all, killing was usually frowned upon, but... accidents do happen. If he could lower the power of another nation while raising that of his own, perhaps it would be worth causing accidental death on someone. But, that would be Lady Risu's call. If she told him to kill, he would kill. If she told him to refrain from doing so, he would refrain. It was that simple to him. Following orders was the simplest of tasks.

When he wasn't on assignment, he was usually busying himself, training, improving. Using others to help him do so, on occasion. Like now, as Yoichi approached the training grounds, he could tell instantly he wasn't alone, by the sounds of someone hitting the post. A smile donned on his face. Perhaps one he'd met training again. Perhaps someone different. Either way, they'd provide some measure of fun and training for him as well, or at the very least some company while he got some exercise in.

Approaching the Training Grounds, Yoichi adjusted his eye patch once more, and started off to work on a training dummy, using only basic taijutsu. He needed to improve the strength of his punches a little more after all. He was fast enough and could move well, but his physical strength was lacking.

"Damn this weak body!" was all that Hikarou could mutter through his gasps for air. He found himself doubled over again, wishing his body could catch up to his mind. He prided himself on intelligence and knowing all he could about the ninja world. However his body was still that of a Genin, and could not hold up to all his mind could imagine. So many plans existed in his always working mind, but he would have to spend years recognizing them. As for now, he could only continue in his hard work.

Off in the distance, a person walked toward the training grounds. From where he was, Hikarou could not tell the physical characteristics, but he was just surprised to see another joining the fun. 'I wonder what this ninja's rank is. Maybe he could be of some help to me.' Ironically, the Genin was what most would call a loner. He loved solitude and peace over all else. However, when it came to training, more people meant more opportunities to train in new, exciting ways. And so, Hikarou decided to approach the distant stranger.

As he walked across the ground, drawing closer to the unknown man, he began to discern the physical attributes of the guest. The man was a shorter ninja, with jet black hair and a slim physique. Nothing about his appearance necessarily stood out, except for an eyepatch he wore over his left eye. This intrigued Hikarou, especially since the guy could not be any older than himself. But that did not mean he had lived an easy life, and the possibility remained of the man being a high-ranking veteran. For that reason, the Genin shaped up and made sure to curb his body language toward respectable. He did not want to overstep his boundary, or offend a ranking officer. That was a sure fire way to gain a disadvantage at the Chuunin Exams.

Walking tall, the Chi ninja stood off, an expanse away from the dark. He was training on a dummy, performing basic shinobi jutsu. Though Hikarou hoped to see some amazing technique, he doubted anything like that would take place, 'Anything worth seeing will be guarded. All the best jutsu is secret, kept in a person's mind under lock and key. And I am no exception.' So, knowing he would see nothing of interest yet, he approached. Coming in from the side, in order to not startle the man, Hikarou motioned his hand to get his attention, "Hello there. My name is Hikarou Chi. It's nice to see a like minded ninja out here honing his skills. If you don't mind me asking, who are you?"

When he stated his name, the speaker gave a slight bow. He wanted to be inviting and respectful, and let the other ninja know he was an honorable man.

Yoichi had only been practicing for a short amount of time, not even a few minutes really, when he felt someone's eyes on him, watching his basic form. Yoichi wasn't any sort of taijutsu specialist, so he really wasn't going to learn anything off of Yoichi other than simply how to punch and kick. It didn' matter, Yoichi didn't mind being observed. It was better than if he'd been displaying some of the techniques he was going to utilize in the Chuunin Exams. Those were planned out to be vicious and game ending straight off the bat. In that end, nobody could have any clue of what talents he displayed, nor could he afford to reveal too much on his strategies. Those were practiced in private, not out in the open. In the end, those techniques were more than likely going to be withheld until it was absolutely necessary to use them. Secrets weren't very good if everyone knew them. Strategies could then be formed to work around them. That was the true secret to winning a fight, after all. Weak or strong, fast or slow, none of it mattered if you could efficiently counter an opponent's abilities. As long as you were able to see the cues, know what to look for, be fast enough to do what you needed to, and could properly counter their abilities, then you'd be virtually unstoppable. Although, if you were fast, were strong, and out right better, it just made it that much easier to beat someone.

It didn't take long for him to approach Yoichi though, in a manner that suggested he had no clue who the other was, or what his skills were. This was a smart man. Even if they were of the same village, one should always be careful when approaching someone, especially at the training grounds. Launching a couple more kicks onto the training dummy, Yoichi stopped, to give his attention to the other man, eyeing him up quickly. Now that they were in a closer proximity, the scar under Yoichi's eye patch would be much more visible. "Who am I? Yoichi Uchiha. Pleasure to meet you Hikarou Chi, not many people are extremely polite when it comes to conversation. Anything I can help you with? I'm only out here to hone my body for the Chuunin Exams, but it doesn't matter that much. I'm just maintaining my form at this point." he said, waiting for the response that the other person would give him.
