They were late. Or maybe, it was he who was late, and they had already gone. Or maybe, he was on time, and they were as well, just in the wrong place? But.. would that not make them late as well? Oh well...

He was waiting, lazily sprawled out beside the river, watching the clouds go by. He'd called this meeting a while ago --roughly an hour or so-- with the hopes of getting o know his students a bit. After all, it was his job to teach them how to be Shinobi, and to represent the hidden leaf. But, before any of that, Naota to need to know his students, and what better way to learn about them? Thats right, squad meeting. And so, here we was, eyes cast upward to the sky, waiting quietly for his students arrival...

The sky was riddled with clouds with the slight opening that allowed you to see the sky'd blue color peep through. It seemed like a rather normal day to Kenta but his squads leader had called for a team meeting. First one I think? Who knows. Kenta had been too busy with meeting the Hokage, missions and recovering from an all-nighter. Not one of his wisest choices but oh well.
Kenta released a huge yawn as he came to the designated area for where they had been told to meet up. Was he late? If he was, the squad leader was bound to be at least annoyed. He hadn't gotten to know him properly so he wasn't knowing what to expect. Someone that radiated pure evil? Someone who was nice? Nah, doubt it. Not many nice ninja's within the village nowadays. The nice ones were always out on missions and such. Complete bore!

Kenta looked around for awhile. It was quiet in here and the atmosphere was somewhat, calming. It felt nice up to the point where he noticed a man standing alone in the middle of a rather wide circle of trees. Strange. It must've been the squad leader. Walking over to the man Kenta raised his right hand and waved.
"Sensei? is that you?" He shouted in a rather monotone voice.

The male cringed some, sighing loudly as he heard Kenta speak. It was going to take some time to get used to being called Sensei; Naota was still a annoyed with the Kage assigning him a squad without consulting him first. Not that Naota had anything better to do anyway.

Black eyes lowered from the sky, staring at the male before him. Youngish kid. Not very impressive looking. Sliding the impassive expression into place like a mask, the Uchiha stared at his 'student'. "Your name is....?"

Chinmoku was late. Anyone who knew her well would probably be able to guess the reason. Of course, she had been drawing and lost track of time. She didn't know exactly how late and hoped the meeting wasn't over and that everyone had left. Running into the forest, she saw two people stood near the river, both of whom she recognised from somewhere. She was pretty sure that they must've been part of her squad because there wasn't anyone else in the forest but she decided to keep her distance just incase. She climbed up into a nearby tree, watching them closely.

Kenta stared at the man. There was something rather odd and off putting about him but he didn't know what. He kept his guard up incase of anything.
"My name is Kenta Sarutobi." He replied back to the Sensei, bowing his head slightly in respect.

Scanning his visible area infront of him, to avoid too much suspicion, Kenta examined the area rather well. The place was slightly damp from yesterday's rain and the clouds weren't helping dry it any faster. the trees, covered in moss looked as if you were to stand on their branches that it could break. Strange, the trees around here were supposed to be resilient to all types of weather conditions. He hadn't noticed Chinmoku arriving but he had a feeling that he was being watched, then again; his sensei was standing infront of him so he could just be paranoid about the current situation.

Those black eyes rolled, catching sight of something moving in the forest. A girl from the looks.... eh. Probably another student. Joy.

Turning his attention to Kenta, he lowered his eyes some, blinking slowly. "So, kid. Whats your story? You aiming to become Hokage or something? Do I gotta 'Believe it'?" He was refrencing the infamous ninja of the past, but it wasn't necessary. Perhaps he was being a touch more cruel than he needed to be, or even what he was aiming for. These kids wanted to be ninja, then he would give it to them; straight, no chaser.

Listening to the conversation, and noticing the taller one bow his head after stating his name, Chinmoku presumed they were both members of her squad, and that the black haired one was the sensei. She was rather excited about meeting the people she would be working and training with. A small smile on her face, she jumped out of the tree, landing softly in a patch of tall grass. She began to walk towards the two, waving to get their attention before signing "Before pleasantries, might either of you happen to know sign language?". As she walked, she noticed a strange, fairly sweet aroma coming from the direction they were in.

Kenta looked at Sensei with confusion. What was he on about with this whole 'Believe it' crap? Kenta wasn't really one for the history. Even if it was the history of his own village; he should probably start his studying on them soon though...maybe just to keep up appearances although he had figured it was a reference of some kind.
"What? No, I just want to serve my village like any other ninja though I want to be remembered for it. Not just referenced as 'Some ninja'" He replied back to Sensei. "Being a Hokage would be a drag anyway. All the work and hours...No thanks."

Kenta turned as he felt another presence, not too sure of what to make of the feeling, he turned his head from right to left; eventually seeing a girl walking towards them. Was she maybe one of her squad mates? He had seen her about the village but she was always incredibly quiet nonetheless; always waving her hands about as if she was trying to say something...
The girl began waving and in reply, so did Kenta. A faint aroma slowly drifting by them as the wind gently blew through Kenta's hair.

Calais was late, he thought. When he reached the river, however, it didn't seem that way. His two other teammates- He assumed- and his sensei... They seemed relaxed, perhaps. The sensei seemed more lazed than the other two. They obviously hadn't been there long, as he could tell. They "felt" the way a person did when in a new place for a short period of time. He didn't get that feeling from his sensei, understandably. He had likely had time to get accustomed to the area, maybe even been here times before.

Calais' dress clothing was black, strict and taut against his frame. He didn't sweat, he wouldn't sweat. He was used to the heat his clothes drew in. His hair was silky black, smoothed as if it was skillfully done, down to his shoulders though not covering his ears. His eyes were the most interesting part, a piercing, intelligent red that flared against his pale skin. He was a sight to behold, a bland smattering of dull colors but highly noticeable all the same.

He stopped moving the moment he reached the river's edge, looking in. He got lost in the waves, the moment of the water. For all intensive purposes he was ignoring the squad near him. He'd be addressed when they wanted to speak to him. Until then, he could lose himself in his thoughts.

It was so peaceful there.

"Right..." Those blaack eyes flickered up and about, catching sight of the other two entering the area. Well well, and here they come...

He lifted his arms, rolling his shoulders rather slowly, as if he were tired. He was, in fact. The Hokage had waited until Naota's day off to stick him with these three as his genin squad, a move which Naota was supremely unhappy with. The furry bastard could watch his own damn kids from now on. But there was nothing that could be done about it now; perhaps he would come to enjoy them.

"Oi! You two, get over here!" Not the most respectful greeting, but it would serve. He didnt know these 'kids'; and even if they were around his age, he outranked them by a long shot. Respect was reserved for those who deserved it. And they had yet to prove it was warrented.

Kenta's ears tweaked as the sensei as the sensei shouted both his other squad mates over. He hadn't realized that the third had arrived with them. Then again he also hadn't noticed Chinmoku arriving either. Where the hell was he? Looking about he noticed someone sitting by the river near them. That was probably him. God damn it.

Looking at Chinmoku as she ran towards them, Kenta's face remained unchanged. He'd met her before and had little conversation so he was unsure as to how to greet her since he's socially awkward. Raising his hand, he waved it about like Chinmoku had with hers but he seemed a little... I dunno. Not right? It seemed as if it was just forced and fake...Urgh! How great(!)

Calais' ears twitched when the words the older man, their sensei he assumed, registered in his head. He was being called in. Not a very... Warm greeting, was it? Though, what had he been expecting? Calais stared down disdainfully at the water, realizing how silly his question was. Nothing, of course. He had no reason to assume anything that he didn't already know. Assumptions caused trouble- They only worked when backed by facts.

He slowly turned his back towards the river, his eyes calm and calculating, absorbing the faces of the two males and the single female surrounding him. Teammates. Likely trustable. Valuable. Though... They had their own characteristics. The sensei, not one to take... shit. The girl, kind and quiet. He felt it was something more than that with her, but he couldn't put his finger on it. His wave back was abrupt and short, his thoughts never slowing in their hectic movement around his head. The boy was awkward. Out of it.

Of course the sensei was the strongest, but he didn't know what secrets the other two held. He could speculate, but that meant nothing. He'd see them in action sometime he figured. Enjoy the peace now. The calm before the storm. They didn't even know each other yet. There still wasn't the nagging stress that came with friendship. That's how Calais saw it, at least.

Not that he didn't like friends.

His walk was slow, a thoughtful pace, not meant to be rude but he found it difficult to care that his sluggish movement might irritate someone. "Hello." His silky voice flowed from his mouth, a bored tinge to the sound yet you could tell he was attentive enough to the events. There was even a spark of something in his eyes, something akin to amusement.

They were finally gathered. It was time to start the meeting properly. The male stared each oh his students in the eye, memorizing their faces. “Congrats on graduating the ninja academy, each of you.” As he talked, the male began pacing, walking before them. “I'm sure each of you are aware of your duty now; you are Genin. You are the foot soldiers of the Hidden Leaf Village. Three raindrops in the flood of thousands, each an instrument of change, bearing our crest.” He pointed to each of them in turn, a soft smile upon his face. He was hoping to inspire them somewhat, to drive them forward.

“I do not know what effect you will have upon the world. Maybe you wont affect it at all. Maybe your influence will spread no further than the walls of this village. Or maybe, you'll be the greatest thing since sliced bread and Nutella. Who knows.” He stopped, walking and talking, rolling his shoulders once more, groaning with satisfaction at the loud CRACK that echoed through the area. Turning those black eyes upon his students again, his expression turned grim.

“It is my job to teach you how to be ninja -- ninja that Konoha can be proud of. And if you think this is gonna be easy, they you're fucking wrong!” As he spoke, tendrils of smoke began to drift from his nose and mouth. Ignoring it, the male continued speaking. “As of right now, everything you learned at the academy means nothing to me. I've seen your papers; I know your strengths and weaknesses. You were each selected for this squad based on them.” Looking up at the sun, he sighed, then looked back at his students. Time was growing short. “We shall come back to this. Introduce yourselves, and take your time. Give us your likes and dislikes, your goals and your fears...”

Kenta frowned slightly. Foot soldiers? I am not a foot soldier. I am a ninja of the hidden leaf yes but I will not be treated like some noob. He thought to himself. Honestly, was this guy for real? He didn't seem to be very professional at all, more like he was taking this as either a joke or just a really boring job. Great, now Kenta felt like a burden.

Listening to his sensei go on about 'making impacts' and this 'Nutella' was beginning to bore Kenta to an extent. Holding back a yawn, he shook his head whilst looking at the floor, doing his best to avoid looking as if he had no interest. He didn't though. The sensei was actually boring him and looking around, everyone else looked bred to a certain extent. You could clearly tell however he snapped back into reality when he had heard a large cracking noise. That must've been sore. Surely. Looking back onto his sensei's face, his face went from...whatever emotion he was showing before to a more grim look. Finally, things were getting interesting.

Hearing the sensei swear and go on about how their time in the academy ment nothing, really brought Kenta to a more interested stance. Now it was getting good. Finally.
Taking a step forward Kenta cracked his neck at both sides, along with his knuckles and back. Ah the ease! Sweet, joyful ease!
"My name is Kenta. I don't see why my likes and dislikes really matter to be honest and my fears?" He said, closing his eyes and clearing his throat.
"Again, I don't see why that really matters. What matters is that I make it far in life and survive."

Calais tilted his head to the side, listening to the words of his now-sensei... To an extent. Really, it was a basic lecture. He'd read things similar to it multiple times over before this. A foot soldier? Of course he was. It was elementary knowledge. Though, he was less one of the village... And more one of his own clan. The Nekonote leader had more of a hold on him than the Hokage himself has, but of course... Of course... All of this was silly things to be reminded of.

He began picking at his lips through the rest of the speech, his mind in a whirl- When wasn't it?- and snorted inwardly, a soundless gesture. He never expected this to be easy. A ninja's job was never easy. This was the easy part, right here, the standing around and talking part. When it came down to training, to missions... To killing- None of that was going to be easy. What did this sensei think they were? They graduated from the academy. They learned their lessons, and now they were here to learn more. Anyone who thought this would be easy isn't a very smart person.

Now came the part that Calais liked the least. The share your feelings part. It was necessary to get to know each other, sure, that didn't mean Cal had to like the exercise however. He was never one of sharing his emotions. The impudence of his squad member, the male, made his lips pull up at the edges. He could tell he would be a fan of this one... Or not. A slight shrug came from his slim figure. Such a personality could go either way. Arrogance was a two sided blade.

It was now his turn, and his fingers fell from his lips, his body hunched forward an inch. "Mm..." He began, the trademark of his speech. "I'm partial to puzzles... Challenges, you could say. I like to be made to think. Mysteries... Even the kind in novels. You could say I would make an excellent detective. I like entertainment, as well, which thought gives me. Theatre... Plays... Dances... They're all very entertaining to me. Now my dislikes," his voice cut off as his face turned in to a grimace for a fraction of a second before settling back in to it's calm mask. "I dislike mutts. They canine species. They... Smell." His head tilted backwards so he was staring towards the clouds. "Slow human beings. They annoy me. Not the kind that's slow in movement, but the kind that's slow in thought."

"My goals are simple. The same thing every normal ninja yearns for. To become stronger. Better. Faster. My clan's purpose is to become the assassins and bodyguards of konoha. The guards. That is my goal, as well..." A final sigh slipped from his lips, the sound drawing out. His fears weren't something he was going to go in to. "I'm afraid of the knowledge I want. The truth can hurt, as you must very well be aware of."

And with that, he fell quiet.

Eyes would narrow upon the Sarutobi, tendrils of smoke curling from the male's nostrils. He spoke slowly, each word punctuated by puffs of smoke from his mouth. "With an answer like that, you must be content on being a mindless drone. If this is the case, then you are dismissed from my squad. I have no time for the likes of you." Those black eyes would glimmer with a brief activation of his Sharingan; a clear indication of how serious he was. "I do not teach mindless drones."

The male turned his eyes upon the other student, the red fading from them. "Thank you for answering the question. But let me ask you this; if you fear the knowledge, then how will you learn?

Kenta felt a small flame ignite within himself as his sensei compared him to a mindless drone. Worthless. Useless. One of Kenta's fear were to be useless and such. Gritting his teeth he took a step back, the dirt kicking up a small cloud around his foot. He then clenched his fists, fighting back his anger as best he could.
"I am not a mindless drone." He replied back. "You want to know my fear? My fear is to be weak and useless! Something that no one...no one..." He couldn't force himself to finish the sentence for some odd reason.
Shaking his head he decided to start over...he wasn't making a very good first impression. He drew a long breath and exhaled it slowly and began talking a more calmed voice.
"I like music, any genre, fruit, sleeping and a few other things but my minds a smidge hazy at the moment..." He said, his mind still in rage mode from being called a drone. "I dislike being asked one question after another, having time wasted, people boasting about every little thing that happens to them, being called a liar and injustice." He said. It seemed more of a rant from the way he was going on and on but he still managed to get his message through in the end or at least he had hoped so. "My goals are undecided at the moment I'm afraid..."

Kenta was a bit of a loner and yes, a little straightforward about most things which is why not many got along with him but a mindless drone? He was not! He felt his heart stop and his blood run cold when he saw the sharingan but he wasn't going to let that stop his determination. He lowered his head and brought his shaky fists into his pockets where they could rest. He hadn't shown this much emotion in a while now, especially infront of two people he didn't even know.

Hearing the Calais's reply to the sensei, he could tell that this was one to be watched. When he mentioned the loved ones, Kenny couldn't help but have a short flashback of Aoi when they were a child. He stared at Calais for awhile before returning his head back to it's previous, lowered state.

Calais' ears twitched, interested, as his squad member was chewed out by his sensei. He figured what he had been told wasn't going to be left alone, but he hadn't realized his new teacher had such a... Temper. It was entertaining to watch, and Cal had to hold back a stiff grin. The reply given by the male genin in return caused Calais to tilt back on his heels, his eyes flashing with amusement. The boy was arrogant, yes, but he felt. Calais had been a bit worried he was a mindless drone, as well. Nice to be proven wrong. All in all... It was a bit droll. Patiently waiting for his turn as the rant was given, he hunched forward. When words stopped sounding, Cal took it upon himself to began his own reply, chewing on the tip of his thumb in thought.

'... Mm... How, you ask? Overcoming a fear... That's a challenge, indeed." He looked up at sensei, his eyes alight with mischievousness but his face betraying no emotion. "As I said... I'm partial to challenges. And thoughts. I fear what I might learn... However, I don't feel the learning itself. I would never hesitate." His head tilted to the side, the thumb held against his bottom row of teeth. "I shall never hesitate to acquire knowledge of any sort. It's too valuable, whether I don't wish to accept it or not. So... I guess... My answer is... Fear is merely an obstacle, mm? At least at this caliber of it." The thought of flames that filled his mind at the statement likely showed through his gaze as well, and he shifted his eyes downward.

"It won't stop me from learning." He ended, simply, the unwavering note of the words hanging in the air after he finished speaking. He did his part, he answered the question he was given, so he returned to the thoughtful silence he so often took up.

Now to see what happened next.

Kenta looked back at his sensei. Not catching eye contact as he was slightly ashamed of how arrogant he had acted. He doesn't usually mean to be but he can be a bit of a dick at most times. He waned to apologize for his actions but he didn't know how to and he wasn't sure if it was going to cause another rant. He did take in the words his sensei said however. There was one thing he was confused about though.
"If you know our fears, how exactly do you plan on using them against us?" He asked.

Kenny was getting better on how he acted around people and towards them but he was still a bit shaky. He tilted his head and scratched it a bit on the back of his dome. The air was a bit chilly and sometimes you kinda forget about it, Kenny did and shuddered slightly.
