What would have usually been a strange sight was right at home in the middle of the festival grounds of Takigakure. For once it wasn't weird to see a fourteen year old girl carrying a rabbit plushie in her arms like it was the most precious thing in the world - children, adults, even seniors could be seen strolling through the busy streets with arms full of plushies and prizes, won from games or purchased from shops. Not that it provided much relief to the kunoichi who so often enjoyed the attention that she received. For once, she blended in, and she was beginning to think that it wasn't too much fun to be part of the crowd, as opposed to being the center of one. Even her flowing white dress somewhat fit into her surroundings - those not wearing shinobi gear were mostly all dressed up. But she had to admit, the busy stalls of games and foods were fun and lively.

She herself had visited the main festival store located in the heart of the marketplace earlier, where a few shoves and wiggles got her to the front of the line to the source of the adorable Chuunin Exam contestant plushies. Although having no knowledge whatsoever of who those people were, the desire to possess the entire set of dolls overcame what little willpower she had in the first place to save money. The interest she had in the dolls probably faded the moment she stepped out of the store, but it didn't matter as she handed over the ryo, satisfaction radiating off her little being as she walked off with a bag full of thirteen plush dolls. Hauling the bag of plush dolls was no easy feat. While the weight wasn't an issue, the sheer size of the bag was enough to overcome her. Thankfully, the first inn she stopped by had a small vacant room, and after dumping everything but her rabbit plushie down, she had set off once again, following the large moving crowds towards the festival grounds.

"Onee-chan, look, look! Goldfish!" A soft squeal escaped her as she knelt down beside the small inflatable pool, surprising two younger children who were in the process of trying to catch some of the tiny goldfish swimming in the water. Lilac-colored eyes followed the swimming creatures and suddenly, without warning, she reached out to poke one of them, finger darting out fast enough to make contact with the poor fish.

"Hey! You can't do that! If you want to play, you have to pay up!"

Whoops. Time to go. Even if she lacked the social skills to keep out of trouble, she wasn't all too keen on ending her exploration of the festival grounds by starting a fight over some goldfish. Waving her hand dismissively at the shopkeeper, she proceeded to skip away, rabbit plushie dangling by an arm. Time to explore whatever else there was around. Perhaps watch a performance or two?

“What a boring day,” Kyohei thought to himself as he made his way alone through the bustling streets of Takigakure. He had agreed to travel here at the request of Risu who wanted company while on her vacation and had planned to spend his time with her, but today she was busy with clan related business. So far this whole trip had not really gone as he had planned. Sure he was able to spend some time with her, but they didn’t even travel together. She was on duty as an ANBU in the Hokage’s convoy on her way there, leaving Kyohei to make the trip that he only agreed to for Risu without her. And so he found himself wandering the streets alone, browsing the vendors merchandise with no real interest in anything in particular and wasting time because he had nothing better to do.

It had been a very long time since Kyohei could be associated with anything even remotely festive. Festivals and parties were for those who valued social interaction. Kyohei himself wasn’t particularly fond of people. People had been nothing but resentful and dismissive to him in his life. How could he simply set that all aside and be happy go lucky? Besides, he had been alone for so long. When someone is inherently uncomfortable in situation with crowds of people, facing it alone is hardly a desirable option. Even so, his only other option was sitting in a hotel room bored to death… which he was not going to do. At the very least he would be able to explore the area, maybe even discovering something that could keep his interest.

The smell of grilling meat and spices would wafted through Kyohei’s nose as he wandered aimlessly through the Takigakure Festival Grounds, suddenly giving him a purpose and a goal. He hadn’t even noticed this whole time how hungry he was, but the aroma of festival food demanded his attention as his stomach growled at him and his mouth began to salivate. Like a blood hound he followed the trail of the aroma that lured him in relentlessly, letting his nose be his guide. As he drew closer and closer to his goal he would push any man in his way aside before finally approaching the stand that the aroma was coming from. With awe in his eyes he stared down over the open flame grill with all manners of meats and vegetables cooking over the charcoal and smoke. With no hesitation he would throw down cash onto the counter and purchase his kebabs.

Three kebabs in hand with assorted barbequed meats and vegetables placed onto the skewers he would walk off happily back into the crowd, continuing on his search for something to do. He didn’t appear to be any closer to finding something of interest, but at least he had food. Before long he would come across a rather large crowd gathering in a large, open area. Looking over the shoulders of others in the crowd he would see a stage in the distance with a group of women dressed in ornate and uniform attire walking on in unison. “A performance?” he thought to himself as he tore off a piece of barbequed beef from his kebab and chewed hungrily, “I guess I’ll stick around.”

It seemed as though festive was another word for chaotic. As she neared the performance areas, the hordes of people got thicker, rendering free movement near impossible. Something pushed against her, and she pushed back, tripping over someone else's foot in the process. Vision for the 4'6" kunoichi was limited to sweaty backs, various festival-y hairstyles, and children sitting on the shoulders of their parents, further reducing the possibility of her being able to see even the solid structure of the stage itself.

A cheer began filling the air as the performers walked onstage, the sound rippling from the front rows and spreading outwards, drawing in even more curious festivalgoers. Gritting her teeth in frustration, she attempted to jump on the spot, desperate to catch a glimpse of what was going on. Nothing. What she did manage to do, however, was pull on the hair of the girl sitting on her father's shoulder in front of Mikage, and a satisfied smirk made its appearance on the kunoichi's face as the girl screeched in pain and whipped around, nearly unbalancing both herself and her father. A flash of white fabric would be all the girl could see as Mikage wriggled away, dodging elbows and dropped food. Holding the rabbit plushie close to her chest, she tried to ignore the feeling of envy as she passed by families enjoying the performance together. No, she wouldn't think about that. She still had her sister with her, and that was enough.

Pushing her way through the crowd for a better angle in hope of actually seeing the performance, she found herself beside a man devouring meat from a kebab like a starving animal. Casting a curious glance over at him, her attention was diverted back to the stage as the sound of music reached her ears. Straining on the tips of her toes, her body swayed from one side to another, attempting to find a gap between the lines of people in front of her for a clear view of the stage. Unfortunately for her, the person standing in front of her was also doing the same thing, and somehow they made contact, the slight pressure from the front forcing Mikage to lose balance and fall backwards. In an attempt to regain balance before hitting the ground, she would grab at the kebab-eating man to the left of her, other arm flailing wildly with her plushie in hand, smacking another stranger on her right. Whether the attempt at staying upright was successful or not, she would soon be standing back on solid ground, just in time for a reprimand.

"Watch it, kid! What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Mikage blinked up at the large man, momentarily forgetting about the other person she had grabbed at. Ehhh ~ It seemed as though people couldn't even handle an accidental tap on the arm anymore. This was a pretty large man ... that took up a lot of space ... If only she could just take his place instead, she was sure it would get her the view she wanted. A grin began to form on her face, and the man would be infuriated to see the girl stick her tongue out at him in response, provoking him into attempting to grab at her. Ducking under his outstretched arms, she would hit him square in the abdomen area with an open palm, enough to dislodge him from where he was standing, but not enough to really incapacitate the large man. Not bothering to see what would happen next, she would slide over to take his spot, clapping her hands in delight at being able to see the performers onstage.

Kyohei’s peace as he waited for the performance to begin while devouring his kebabs would soon be disturbed by a foreign tugging feeling down near the bottom of his shirt. Looking down curiously he would see a small white haired girl clinging to him in an attempt to regain her balance after apparently tripping. He smirked at the site of the little girl holding her stuffed rabbit taking particular interest in the color of her hair. Being one of the oddities born with white hair himself he thought it a good omen that she happened upon him like that. He may not have been good with people, but children never gave him any problems, most of them too young to resent him the way adults seemed to. Lowering his free hand he would press onto her shoulder to stabilize her, but before she even noticed him it appeared that the rather large, brutish man next to them had taken exception to her accidental slip.

When the man reached out attempting to grab the girl Kyohei would turn one of the empty skewers in his hand, ready to intercept the man, but the small girl seemed to have it all under control. Swiftly she avoided the man’s grasp, ducking down before striking him in the abdomen and sending him stumbling back into the crowd. Not even bothering to ensure that the man had been dealt with for good she would move into his spot in the crowd, clapping her hands in excitement as she peered over to the stage. So this girl was no ordinary child either judging by her movements and her ability to overpower a grown man with little to no effort… a good omen indeed. After a moment the man would come roaring back out from the crows, making a beeline right to the girl’s location, but would promptly be cut off by Kyohei. A kebab skewer would graze his cheek, peeling off the skin and drawing blood to make the man halt where he stood. What he would see next is the blood red glow of Kyohei’s sharingan as he glared him down.

“Would you still call yourself a man if you sucker punched a little girl?” Kyohei growled as he tilted his head sidewise, giving off almost a mad, bloodthirsty aura, “I have a few ideas regarding the proper punishment for men like you.” The man would become visibly shaken as Kyohei took a single step forward, waving his arms in front of him as he apologized and tried to diffuse the situation. “Why are you apologizing to me?” Kyohei snarled, pointing down to the small girl, “She’s the one you need to grovel to mut.”

In the brief excitement in dealing with the infuriated man, she had forgotten about the one she had grabbed onto. Distracted and too busy entertaining herself with the performance that was now starting, she appeared to pay everyone else no mind. The soft jingling of her anklet bells would alert her of the man scrambling to regain his balance and assault her in return but before she could react, something whizzed over her head - a small pointed object that cleanly sliced the side of the man's face. Turning to glance over her shoulder for the source, it was upon seeing the remaining kebab skewers that she realized what had been used as the weapon. Definitely a fun choice. It wasn't everyday she was protected by a random stranger, so this came as a welcome surprise, enough to keep Mikage as part of the audience as opposed to an active party. A small smile danced across her features as the two men faced off, widening when she saw an interesting red glow in her protector's eyes.

A Sharingan user, how interesting ~ Born in Land of Fire, she was somewhat familiar with the famous doujutsu clan, but this would be her first direct encounter with one. The eyes really were something to behold, and she found herself blatantly staring, even knowing the dangers of making eye contact with members of this particular clan. The man had white hair similar to hers, with admittedly attractive features accented by the red irises that were fixated on the large man, accompanied by words that redirected the apologies to her. All of which she would lose interest in and ignore as the crowd cheered for whatever was happening onstage. If there wasn't going to be a fight or something of equal amount of entertainment, it was no longer worth her time.

'That was no fun. Wouldn't it be so much more interesting if they fought? I would bet all my plushies on the Uchiha.' The mental thought was 'sent' to her sister, spoken a tone that was quite normal - deviating from her strange third person speak that most people knew. Of course, this went unknown to the others around her, unspoken words saved only for her precious sister. Up on her tiptoes again she would go, still struggling for a good view as the crowd shifted, the entire situation becoming a comical adversity for the short girl to any onlooker. The frustration on her face was plainly written, and part of her was tempted to simply clear out her immediate surroundings and pave a direct path for herself up to the front. That would undoubtedly draw lots of attention, but it would get her what she wanted. The temptation was strong, and she wasn't one to be rational enough to consider the consequences. But maybe ... she glanced back over at the white-haired Uchiha, lilac gaze pleading.

"Neh ~ Mister ... Mikage wants to see the performance, can you help?" She would ask innocently, pointing at the crowds blocking her view. The way her question was worded didn't clearly reflect her intentions - Mikage herself was thinking of asking the man to clear the crowds for her, as unreasonable as that was.

Kyohei would raise an eyebrow curiously at the request of the small girl. She seemed more than able to toss around a grown man with little effort, but she still could not overcome her naturally small stature. He let out an amused huff as she pointed to the crowd of people that seemed to tower over her, blocking her vision from the main stage. He wondered what he could do to help her in that situation though. It wasn’t like he could magically make her taller, and there was nothing in the immediate vicinity that could be used to boost her up above the heads of the other spectators. Trying to clear a path for her through the crowd forcefully would also be likely just get them both thrown out of the area by security, and they had already drawn far more negative attention than they needed with her roughhousing the man from before.

Kyohei hummed to himself aimlessly, racking his mind to try and think of a way to help the small girl. From the corner of his eye he noticed another child perched atop the shoulders of what he could only assume to be her father, boosting her clear above the heads of the crowd and giving the girl clear vision of the stage as they prepared to start the performance. Could that be the answer? “Uhhhh,” he began, pointing over at the girl atop her father’s shoulders, “There isn’t much around here to prop you up, but I guess if you really want to see you can hop up onto my shoulders like that? That seems to be the only way we are both seeing the performance without missing the beginning looking for another place to see from. How about it?” Awaiting her answer Kyohei would peer over to the stage to see the dancers beginning to take their positions. Should she agree he would simply kneel down to allow her to get on his back, although from what he saw earlier she could probably have just jumped up from the ground anyway.
