Peace. Tranquility. Hope

The view was always beautiful in the Hidden Cloud Village and the rain had finally stopped, the sun coming up and breaking up the clouds to dawn a new day. The birds in the air were singing their beautiful song to welcome the sun and the areas around the mountains of Kumogakure no Sato were all lit up and glowing, basking in natures radiance. Misora, Reika had come to the Hidden Temple on this day to meditate on her purpose and to help her strengthen her resolve. She loved this village more than anything, and as of late everything had been truly peaceful. It lifted her heart to hear the birds sing their song and see the rays of sun entering through the windows of the Hidden Temple and dancing upon the beautiful white marble floor, the different patterns that the rays created being able to lift the heart of any person.

Everything in her village was at peace, as she had always fought for it to be since she had become the Raikage. There was no villager who had needed to fear attacks from the outside world, which was a security that most villages didn’t have. This village, her village, was a safe haven for those who lived within it, and Reika was more proud of this fact than anything else. She knew that if any threat attacked her village, they would have to get through her first, and nobody was as protective as a mother defending her children, which was how Reika saw every member of the Village Hidden in the Clouds.

She was meditating today on her position, in a secretive place so she wouldn’t be disturbed, a fiery look in her eyes as she looked over the Lightning Country, her Lightning Country. Her resolve was steeled and she was prepared to face the challenges of the day.

This....was cake.

Or pie. Or some other nice, sweet treat. Blood was his drink of choice today. The Mind's Eye of the Kagura, coupled with his own Hiding-With-Camouflage Technique, kept Tame out of the eyes of the Kumo ANBU. Not a difficult feat....Tame's abilities were well above that of many of the ANBU in the Hidden Cloud. Such a shame that they didn't make ninja like they used to......they were all gung-ho and straight-on attack, the Raikage herself included in this category.

Whether or not people thought he was politically inclined, Tame made his move on Kumo out of pure whimsy. The power of his sensory abilities could not be overstated....once he found the Raikage's chakra signature, he could track her to the ends of the earth....thus, when she decided to take a small excursion. A small, quaint location in the village's outskirts, a hidden jewel of a place where no one visited....or so it seemed. The cliff that held the Hidden Temple was rather....archaic, if that was the right word. Perhaps fossil-esque. It seemed so untrodden, save for the fresh prints that could only have belonged to the Raikage. Dainty, yet somehow large for a woman. Either way, Tame had been visually tracking her and knew she had followed this path.

Mimicking her path by walking in her own footsteps, Tame made sure to leave nothing. Jumping off the edge, Tame did a full front flip coupled with a horizontal one-hundred-eighty degree spin, letting him use the momentum to catch the edge, swinging forward to the underside of the cliff. Supernatural Walking was for amateurs. The term that was widely used for this type of thing was free-running. Accurate, he supposed, being free from the normal bounds of movement, even by ninja standards. It was an art one had to train in, but it was worth it.

And with a few maneuvers, Tame was easily in the temple. Silent, this place was. No wonder she wanted to come here....it was the antithesis of Kumo's hustle-bustle. Using his own shoes, which had soles of crystal dust, the Whimsical Sniper glided around until he found the Raikage, himself hanging from one of the balconies on the inside of the temple's upside-down pyramid shape. Sweet success.

It was peaceful here, and in that peace she found clarity, hearing the sounds of nature all around her, the singing of birds, the quiet sound of the breeze, the odd sound of something scraping granite… Wait that wasn’t a normal sound… She stood up from her seated position and looked around the room, not noticing anything in particular but knowing that in the shinobi world, that didn’t necessarily mean anything. As she stood up she brought her hands out in front of her, one foot taking a position slightly in front of the other as well, right hand palm to the left in front of her left hand which was lower and palm towards her right side. She didn’t imagine anyone would dare to attack the Raikage in such a place, but she knew that you could never be too prepared and that taking a defensive stance was always in good interests.

As she scanned the room she sighed slightly and, in a loud and clear voice, imagining that anyone who was in the room already would be able to see her anyway, said “Who goes there? Show yourself.” As she said this she was preparing herself, in the event that something was awry. Even while unarmed, Reika was far from helpless, being a Taijutsu master and having a wide array of abilities at her disposal. She did not want to think that combat was going to ensue in this peaceful place and was hoping at most it was one of her ANBU agents come to check in, but at the same time she was prepared for the worst as well.

“I said show yourself.”
That’s when she saw him. He was in the balconies above, impossible to miss with his green hair. He was small and looked young, and as far as Reika could tell, he didn’t belong here. He wasn’t one of hers and she had doubted that he had checked in with the village before entering, as she would have heard about him. She looked up at him, keeping her defensive stance in the event that this mysterious shinobi was to attack her, and spoke once more. “Who are you and what are you doing here?”

How cute.

Tame was never one for being too stealthy, anyhow...that ruined the fun of the dance.

“Who are you and what are you doing here?” My, so direct. I guess we must skip directly to the formalities, hm....

I'm the one who will leave here alive. And I...suppose....this is an assassination. Thus, these words resounded into the Raikage's mind. The sounds of speech, yet not audible, the feeling of talking but lips not moving. And what else was there to say....there were no other chakra signatures in the area, no one to intervene....no one to save her.

Tame undid the grey bandana that served a decorative belt, as well in the past as a cloth version of his hitai-ate, and brought it to his head. He then put it over his eyes, and tied it underneath his hair, at his neck-area. As he finished the knot, a rather vile aura surrounded him for a moment before subsiding into nothingness. Yes, even without using chakra he did not need to see. This was his power....

Quite frankly, he did not have to do anything by himself. It was such an easy task to just counterattack. Not exactly the type of thing an assassin should do, but the word Tame would have for it would be 'meh'. He raised his arms, then jerked them back down to his sides, slightly spread, his hands open; small bursts of chakra, and his barrel-less arrowguns were spinning in midair, just at the palms of his hands. Mid-spin, he caught them, one in forward and one in reverse grip; he then combined his two arrowguns into something more resembling a rifle. That was all he needed, really. Everything else would just....fall into place....

I'm the one who will leave here alive. And I...suppose....this is an assassination. And there it was, this was the threat that she was expecting. It only took her a moment after asking her initial question to realise that this man was in her village’s Bingo Book for the assassination of the Hokage Tatsumaru Uchiha and the destruction of half of Konohagure no Kato. This was Tame, and he was one of the most dangerous Nukenin in the Shinobi world. Reika didn’t take an extra second, and watched as he flourished his weapons in the air as she began to run towards where he was. She clapped her hands together forming a quick hand sign and a large cloud began to form around her, surrounding the majority of the room. As the cloud formed she ran along the wall towards where Tame was standing, forming another hand sign as a clone of her was formed and began similarly running towards the missing-nin. The two of them ran along either side of him, making sure that they wouldn’t be able to get caught up in some large area effect as they made towards their mark.

If he was stull there when the two Reikas reached him, Reika would use her Clone Synergy technique, creating two clones of herself and each of her clones, they would each attempt to overwhelm him with force and end this quickly, striking until they were able to get him to the ground so that she could drive her heel into his skull. Were he not, the one to the left would begin to mould the unton chakra into a pair of small double sided spears that rotated around her body, preparing to launch them upon discovering where he was. The second Reika (the real one) would form a small barrier around herself in order to protect her from projectiles, which would be nearly invisible to the naked eye. Either way, as they ran towards him they would yell out; “I will not let you harm my village! You will not leave here today!”

[OOC: Assuming that my ruse makes your first chakra usage true with Clone Synergy. You're free to react differently, though, and my next post will have adjusted chakra amounts accordingly.]

“I will not let you harm my village! You will not leave here today!” Right, like I wanted to harm your village....did I say anything about that? Doi.

She had decided to charge straight against him. Such imprudence....were all Kumo-nin like this? Can't we just talk this all out?, he projected to her in a 'voice' that sounded so genuine it could easily be told as a fake; he had even gotten adept at mimicking acoustics, so the sentence seemed to come from him. As he did so, a thick vapor enveloped the area. Indubitably the Raikage's infamous cloud ninjutsu, of her Kekkei Tota; the Misora clan, or any clan that boasted a release of their own, never ceased to astound him. Except that of the Yamada clan, which he had spared the shame of a Missing-Nin by changing his name....yes, he had a full grasp on what Crystal Release could do. He was the only known man in the world who had such sway over the clan's ability. The clouds began to fill the tall room, eventually completely making the sense of sight useless.

Silly, silly girl.

Had she not noticed? This jutsu....essentially a cloud equivalent of the Hidden Mist Jutsu....did she not know he had obscured his own vision intentionally? What was she trying to do....? She had the advantage in Kumo, she had no need to create her own clouds....unless she was planning something. Focusing inward, Tame would not allow himself to be caught off-guard. Having intentionally blocked his own vision, he began to see even with a blindfold. Forms....of chakra, energy, life. They moved with crisp clarity, in real time, as if he had sight after all. Such was the power of his sensory jutsu....such a technique couldn't obstruct him, as it wasn't a Doujutsu. Sharingan was nothing to the Itagaki; this evidenced, of course, by his inaction in transplanting at least one of them into himself.

Either way, he would begin his strategy, formed within his million-miles-a-minute mind at the minute mistake of the Raikage. The missing-ninja first performed a clone technique. Not even the Crystal Clones jutsu he'd been working on....that would not be necessary for this. No, just the simple, Academy-level Bunshin no Jutsu. Five in all. Two were hiding farther behind the middle one at 5 meters behind him, which was left in Tame's position after he fled the scene. Another two flanked him to the left and right within 3 meters. All of them brandished one sole arrowgun, aside from the center clone, who held a combined rifle-arrowgun. As the two Reikas (one of which was a clone, the one on the center clone's front-right being the real one) approached the position of the clone, Tame would hide to the left of even the leftmost clone, in the projected blind spot of at least one of the Raikages. And then....the poor clone was smashed into dust.  It curved and dodged the strikes of Reika's cloning-clone(?) jutsu, but ended up falling on its rump; this, of course, all by Tame's direction. Then, Reika delivered what would have indubitably been a killing blow.

However, all four of the other Tame clones were upon her, moving close enough to see. Except one....

The first two brandished illusory versions of Grieve Edge (which Tame had admittedly not mastered, but was wearing anyhow) and performed a spin and axe kick, one aiming at each of the Lightning Shadows, aiming to divert their field of vision. Then, the other two, which were situated farther away and hopefully behind or in the blind spots of the Raikages, shot at the clone of the Misora. Yes, they shot.

No, you idiots, they did not shoot.

It was Tame's technique that let them shoot, of course. His Warp Snipe Jutsu....it gave the appearance of this. While in his self-named 'Arbalest' mode of shooting, Tame fired one bolt (which admittedly moved at quite the speedy pace) for each clone that was pretending to shoot, curving their trajectories so that it would seem that these clones actually were attacking. The bolts themselves, having not curved much to give the facade that they were being emitted by the clones' arrowguns, could also change their path a tad more. Whichever direction the clone of Reika would go, the bolts---as of now, parallel to each other but a little less than 2 meters apart---would veer up to seventy degrees to hit her. Tame, in the meantime, fled to another location, keeping tabs on Reika the entire time. He went to a 180'd position of where he was before, now flanking an unknowing Raikage. Quite simply, he flicked a crystal at her. In all the commotion it would be lost....but this would be her downfall.

She saw them come and she smiled. This fight would be a challenge and a test of her ability like none she had had in her recent history; this would be more difficult than the Uzumaki she fought. The six Reikas all became more focused and alert when they shattered one of the clones that Tame had made, the real one having managed to disappear at some point. She looked around for all of the Tames that were around and did her best to find them, seeing a pair of them coming at her with some form of bladed weapons. She threw up her hands to block them, but that wasn’t needed, the clones dissipating upon touching her. Had it not been for the clouds she would have quickly realised that they were ordinary clones due to their lack of shadows, but due to her obstructed vision it was impossible to tell. She wasn’t sure why she had done something so foolish and regretted her mistake instantly. The Raikage wouldn’t defeat herself in such a manner and began searching once more to find the real Tame. What she ended up finding her was something much more problematic. Her primary clone had two bolts flying towards her, but that wasn’t the issue, as she had assumed they were not real. The problem was what happened when they actually hot, as the clone didn’t dodge them due to their speed.

The Reika clone spun and saw the bolts before they hit her, after a warning from one of the cloned clones. She quickly compressed the clouds in front of her and forced them behind, boosting her speed and allowing her ample time to move out of the way. As she was doing this the real Reika took the opportunity to scan the area, looking for the real Tame when the clouds had been moved. She didn’t realise that Tame was right behind her and didn’t notice the crystal attack go into her skin, burrowing deep inside of her. The clone had dodged towards the real Reika and was therefore able to see where Tame was, pointing him out to the real Reika who proceeded to begin gathering compressed clouds in front of herself and moulding them into blunt projectiles. She launched three of them towards the missing nin, one directly at him and the other two to either side, making it so they would all be hitting approximately where his chest was or would be, and if he wasn’t to move the two on the sides would strike both of his arms.

The Clone Reika made her way towards Tame, continuing to mould the clouds in front of her, this time doing a variation of the technique that the real Reika had just performed. As she did this, six two meter long lances formed from the clouds that she was manipulating and began to surround her. She would use these, launching three of them, similarly to how the real Reika had done it, intending to hit Tame square in the cribs, and then on either side of him within 6 inches of each other. She was approaching from the side with her twocloned clones, and Reika’s own clones were guarding her, prepared to attempt to strike away and unwanted jutsus from the sapphire sniper.

This was pathetic. The Raikage, the strongest ninja in Kumogakure, and reputedly the most powerful of the five Kage at the time of the last Summit....

Was she this dumb?

To fall for a ruse using clones, the basic Academy Bunshin no Jutsu, no less. This was almost shaming his choice of assassinating her. He actually thought this was going to be a challenge. Were all Kumo-nin like this....? Brash and over-confident seemed to be good words for the way they fought. Because truly, he expected better foresight from someone of her calibre. Because, seriously, who obscures their own vision against someone who is very, very obviously obscuring their own vision? Truly disappointing.

Well, it turned out....she had driven him into a bit of a corner. Not a truly sticky situation, as fate would have it, but she had him in check; and forced him to move. And he supposed, he had to give in to that wish of hers. What she didn't expect, though, was that Tame was far faster than she had thought. Despite using her own jutsu with the clouds, quite a few in fact, it did not adulterate the fact that there were still clouds about. Even if they were a bit thinner than before.....well, visibility still wasn't good. But that wasn't an issue for Tame. No, now even her jutsu were clear as day to him. They illuminated themselves with a higher concentration of chakra than the surrounding chakra-infused brume.

Activating one of his signature jutsu with a mental effort, Tame braced himself for the oncoming cloud-projectiles.

Not.

Bracing was for losers. Only the cool kids dodge. And dodge he did....because his Diamond-Dust Dance technique let him freely walk in midair. Combined with the crystal dust he had cleverly placed on his shoes, he could maneuver freely in midair. Not even just run or walk, he could glide. Doing full loops and midair 720 vertical flips to rather flamboyantly (yet oddly minimalistically) dodge the compressed puffs of cloud that seemingly were a form of attack. But next...

Reika moved in for another attack. Or at least, one of her. He knew from his earlier observation that this one was her Kage-Bunshin....which really meant he should get rid of it. Quite simply, he needed only a momentary distraction. Right when the lances were about to hit their mark, a distortion started to envelop Tame's immediate area. Not even a nanosecond later, the distortion seemed to blend itself back into regular air....and Tame was gone.

He had soundlessly reappeared 3m from the clone Reika, and immediately fired as many bolts as he could muster in a second---four, using his Fusillade mode---directly into her back from no more than two meters away. He added an extra round of six bolts in the original Reika's direction (from which he was about 8 meters away) for good measure. If perchance he missed....oh, well. Sheer force of direction would remedy that. Along with his bolts curving to compensate for any feeble dodging maneuver either the clone or the original (hitting the other, less-powerful clones was futile; one just vanished at this point).

Now it was just a waiting game. Tame jumped as high as he could, and floated there. Tick-tock....This is really pathetic. Kumo is weak, pitiful, barbaric. Even you, the epitome, shall perish.

Reika

Reika

Dead
She could feel the warmth all over her body as the sun shone through the cracks in the building, a warmth filling her to her core as she felt time come to a standstill. She knew exactly what was happening, it was hard not to know. She had felt the sharp pains growing inside of her as the battle raged on, knowing full well that the crystal user has found his mark early on. Her body was crystallizing from the inside out and she knew that her time was very limited and she would have to act fast if she wanted to take the crystal user out with her and protect the rest of her village from him. She would save her village in the end and someone else would take her place. She thought of the strong members of her village who would be prepared to step up as the Raikage, names such as Bokuden, Binsu, Kenji, Skye and Sanosuke, and she knew her village would be left in capable hands.

She could feel a small tear forming at the corner of her eye which rolled down her cheek to her chin, falling off in an uncharacteristic moment of emotionality on the part of the Raikage. She was able to dodge an attack that came by a hair but she watched as her clone was destroyed by the crystal user; impaled by several small crystal bolts. She had to act fast in order to end this and she would make her last assault one that people would tell stories of for generations. She had never lost the crystal ninja in the clouds that were her playground. As she watched for an incoming assault she sprung forward towards him with blazing speed the likes of which were unmatched in this world. She moved with the speed of a person possessed and she could feel the building pain and pressure inside of her as she closed the gap like a thunder clap.

Once the Raikage was on top of her attacker she wasted no time grabbing his wrist on his right arm with both of hers, keeping his crossbow pointed elsewhere and breaking the wrist so he would have to drop it before yanking as hard as she could. The sounds and different feelings that followed were satisfying to her. She could hear the pop of the bone seperating from the shoulder joint, the loud tearing of muscle and tendons and finally of skin and then she heard the spurts of blood as she completely separated what was once Tame's arm from his body. She kicked him down to the ground and jumped on top of him, raising his arm above her head and smashing it into his face, knowing she had reached her limit.

As she went to raise the arm once more she felt the feeling passing through her skin now, the lifting movement more sluggish than any before. She knew she would be dead before she could land another blow. She looked down at the man with fire in her eyes and an angry scowl on her face before twisting it to a soft smile, tears running down her cheeks.

"Kumokagure will prevail. Someone more powerful than me will inherit her and they will destroy you for what you have done today." She closed her eyes and finally felt one last sharp pain before her body was fully engulfed in the crystal, the arm still clutched in her hand above her head and crystal tears frozen to her face as she wept for her family and for the village she loved. A great tragedy had befallen the world; the Raikage Reika Misora was dead. She stood as beautiful and powerful as ever and she would forever more quite literally be a gem of Kumogakure.

Everything was going according to plan.

Well, almost everything. The Raikage....well, she continued her title's legacy of being impossibly fast. The very pressure of her chakra....it was indescribable, almost inhuman. Not that he would ever mention what happened here...to anyone. No, the story of the Raikage's death would be known only to him. However....

Instantaneously appearing in front of him, the Raikage grasped his left wrist with strength not at all befitting her frame, and easily shattered it, the part of the hand he had extended to kill her clone via shooting. Not broke...shattered. The Nuke-ninja promptly threw his head back in a silent scream. This...is impossible....I HAD her...what the hell is she....Ugh. I am NOT letting her have her way....! HENKAN NO JUTSU! Tame grabbed his upper arm above the elbow, and for dear life tried to hold on....but as his casting of a jutsu just before that forewarned, he was nowhere near strong enough to resist the Raikage, another penchant which the title held. So, he did the only thing he could do: he crystallized his hand and forearm, and allowed her to break it off. If he hadn't....well, he would have gotten a lot worse of a fate. If he hadn't crystallized that, it would have easily been his entire arm she had torn off....and it would have been bleeding. But Tame supposed he could live with a stub, for a little while. He had his ways and means.

But what he didn't expect after this, was the brash girl adding insult to injury. She literally....PUNCHED him with his own arm. But very shortly after, the moment he had been waiting for....for so long. The Raikage froze in place, a look of shock in her eyes being immediately replaced by sadness. She knew just what the Whimsical Sniper had done to her. He almost felt sorry, in a way; this was his first victim that he had ever crystallized alive. He relished the pain that she must have been undergoing, knowing full well that this was her just-desserts for causing him what was probably an equal amount of pain. However.....hers would only last a little while longer. Tame noted that she had dislocated his shoulder, which would be a bitch to undo later, if he could even do it himself. Regardless....he knew just the man to go to for that.

And before he knew it, a beautiful, glistening statue of the girl who was once the Lightning Shadow. With a morbid, sadistic and satisfied look on his face, he approached it and sealed it away in his spare scroll. The scroll where all statues went.

However, he needed to go now. If he had any indication from Konoha's retaliation to him openly attacking them....Kumo would be quick to check this place for their Raikage after hearing the commotion. He supposed he shouldn't leave them in the dark, however. So he unsealed the concealment-cloak with a blue rose on it that he had received as a gift, and placed it on the ground, grabbing a piece of the Ninth's hair and snapping it off while un-crystallizing it; this would go on the cloak. Guilty by association.... With his good right arm, he repeatedly shot the ground to engrave: 美空れいかはここ死亡しし (Misora Reika-wa koko shibōshi - Here Died Misora Reika)

Sighing, he muttered to himself mentally as he left the Hidden Temple; right at the entrance of the atrium where this battle occurred, he twirled his arrowgun and 'reloaded', so to speak. All the dust he had expended here was taken back into his weapon, which promptly vanished. He himself had left the only trace of someone's presence there, aside from maybe DNA evidence from the Raikage. Perhaps it was the equivalent strategy-wise of a 'dick move', but Tame reveled in seeing other people squirm. And this organization which he had framed was far too civil to exist outside the bounds of the law.

Using his Hiding-with-Camouflage Technique, he skulked out of the area as easily as he had entered. And that was that. He did, however, need to start thinking up a list of people he could contract to fix the....er, problem on his left side. It was not difficult at all to think of the prime guy for the job.

But for now, he was home free. And for the time being, he would just have to find his way back home. That was where he would get the help he needed.
