Misoka

Misoka

D-rank
It would be best if she could find a secret entrance. Then she had to figure out the location of her father's prison cell. From there, she needed to knock out one of the guards and take the keys. Open the cell. Get out with her father before they attracted too much attention. Off to Kumo.
Misoka played out the whole scene in her head while she was rushing forward, jumping from tree to tree. What else? Was she forgetting anything? She thought it all over once more, but couldn't find another must-do-point she might've missed. Good. On to the how-to-do-part.
How was she going to find that secret entrance? She had never been at the Karisuma estate before. All she knew was where it was located, but nothing about its appearance, let alone how many entrances there were and which of them could be considered unusual.
Misoka bit her lower lip in frustration. The first must-do-point and already no idea how to accomplish it. Same with finding her father's prison cell. She could only guess that they held him captive somewhere in the basement of the estate. And would she have trouble beating a guardsman unconscious? What if the man was stronger than her, a Jounin or even a rank higher? If their fight took too long, everyone else would be awake by then and notice the intruder or in other words: her.
Suddenly, the tree branch she had just landed on cracked beneath her weight, snapping her out of her thoughts. Misoka quickly jumped off and sent chakra to her feet to keep herself glued to the tree's trunk. At the same time the branch broke and crashed to the ground. She followed its fall with her eyes. Her heart grew heavy at the sight of it.
The branch had looked strong enough to support her weight, but in the end it had still broken. Something which turned out to be more fragile than it had appeared at first sight. Or someone? She started comparing herself to the fallen branch in silence before tearing her eyes away from it and moving on.

She tried her hardest to keep running throughout the morning and afternoon with hardly any breaks.
The little time she had left in the evening Misoka used to train her skills. She started with ninjutsu, knowing this was what she could do best, and still found herself to be far behind Jounin level.
Then she regretted that she'd never trained with Bokuden. He might have showed her one or two useful tricks. Skill-wise he'd seemed ahead of her, but she'd never asked him about his rank. Considering he was already in charge of a squad, he must be Jounin at least though.
'Stupid, stupid girl,' she would curse herself before she went to sleep and thought about how much she could've learned from a training session with Bokuden.
Instead, she had spent her time throwing herself at him. A light blush bloomed across her cheeks. Now, now, that was exaggerated. It wasn't like she'd intended to fall for him... but anyway. She quickly pushed the thought of Bokuden to the back of her mind, going back to concentrating on her training.

The days passed so fast that she came close to losing her sense of time. By the third, no, fourth day - she had to go it through in her head once more - she finally reached the Kaze no Kuni border.
It was a weird feeling approaching her hometown after all the months of running away from it. Her heart hammered against her chest as she thought of the vague plan she'd come up with on the way. Was this really going to work? It had to. Her father was counting on her. Bokuden was waiting for her. But the odd feeling in her stomach wouldn't go away.
She basically had to force herself to move toward Suna's gates. When she crossed the border, she couldn't help but feel trapped forever.
