Clan History: The Shimazu clan are a school of ancient warriors, with their roots founded in the time before the Shinobi schools were truly established. They are loyalists, dedicated to their ancient ways of fighting. When the schools of combat used by the shinobi were established, the Shimazu rejected them. They were local to the ways of the blade and the bow, and refused to adapt to the newer techniques. Large numbers of the Shimazu clan's sister tribes split off, adapting and forming new ways of fighting. This lead to the birth of the modern ways of swordsmanship; Battojutsu, Santoryu, etc. The remaining Shimazu families were forced to scatter, with their numbers withered and their survival at risk. They have, however, survived into the modern era. The main tribe of the Shimazu clan can be found in Sunagakure, as it is the best location for forging their blades given it's large iron sand reserves. However, members of the Shimazu clan can still be found throughout the Shinobi world, all dedicated to their ancient ways.
Kekkei Genkai Description: The Shimazu clan members are loyalists to the Bushido way. They are trained in the ancient samurai arts; Kenjutsu and Kyujutsu. While they have rejected most forms of Ninja techniques, they still train themselves in the ways of Chakra Flow, seeing it as the incarnation of their will on their blades. All members of Shimazu start with Bukijutsu and take the Specialist special characteristic (without having to take a negative) to learn both Kenjutsu and Kyujutsu. In addition, the Shimazu use their own form of Kenjutsu, known as Bushido. It is a dynamic sword style, based around wielding up to two katana, but centering around mastery with a single blade. Due to their training in this art from the time of their birth, Shimazu clan members gain +2 to Bukijutsu.
Drawbacks: Members of the Shimazu clan have abandoned the way of the Ninja, and as such cannot learn Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Fuuinjutsu, Medical Ninjutsu, Puppeteering or Summoning (limiting them to Senjutsu, Seijutsu, Bukijutsu, and Taijutsu). The Shimazu have difficulty learning other forms of Bukijutsu besides that of Kenjutsu and Kyujutsu, such that the word counts for training those sub-specializations have double the word count than normal to train. The Shimazu can only ever learn one element; Fuuton (Shimazu cannot take Hesitant (Elements) as a special characteristic), and they only start with a single specialization, Bukijutsu. Members of the Shimazu clan can train their second specialization at the rank of Chuunin. They can either learn it from an NPC and pay 1500 ryo, or learn it from another character (the starting rank would be D for the specialization after it is trained). The Shimazu clan members cannot use SS rank techniques in any of their specialties. Though their bodies are experienced with dealing with close quarters combat, the Shimazu have little experience facing ninja techniques, and as such Ninjutsu and Genjutsu hit them with +1 effectiveness.
