Elements: Katon
Clan History: The Sarutobi clan is an influential clan from Konohagakure. As one of the original staple clans of Konohagakure no Kato, they have been along longer than most, nearly as long as the Senju and the Uchiha. It has produced several notable members who have held positions of high authority, such as Hokage, or membership in the Twelve Guardian Ninja. All known members have also been observed devotees of the Will of Fire, a drive to protect the thing that is most important to them, the future of the village. They have many prominent members who played a key role in the history of the village of Konohagakure no Kato, including the third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, also known as the God of Shinobi. Sasuke Sarutobi, the father of Hiruzen Sarutobi, was such a well known and well loved shinobi that many others named their children after him, including the infamous Sasuke Uchiha.
The most revered and well known member of the Sarutobi clan was Hiruzen Sarutobi, who studied under Hashirama Senju, the first Hokage. His skill with ninjutsu was considered to be unparalleled and he would become extremely famous around the world. He would then serve in the First Shinobi World War in a team under the second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, along with several other prolific shinobi from the village. During a mission during the war, they were being pursued by Kumogakure's Kinkaku Force, who were someone that someone would need to distract and sacrifice themselves to so that the rest of their team could get away. Hiruzen volunteered to sacrifice himself, thinking that he was the most likely person to be able to survive. He asked his best friend Danzo Shimura to look after the rest of their group, but Tobirama ultimately decided that he himself would be the distraction and that Hiruzen would be named the Third Hokage. He would later famously train the group known as the Sannin, who would all become world famous shinobi. He would then lead Konoha through the second and third shinobi world wars, and was famously known for having ended the third world war when he signed a peace treaty with Iwagakure. He would eventually step down as Hokage, passing it onto the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze, and after the death of Minato he would become the first Hokage to take the office twice. When Orochimaru, one of the Sannin, came back to attack Konoha, Hiruzen would sacrifice himself by using the Dead Demon Consuming Seal, which would sacrifice his own soul as well as disabling his opponent. He died a hero to the leaf, and a legend to all of the other villages across the world, everyone having heard the tales of his heroics and his craft.
After his passing, the Sarutobi clan would strive to continue to live up to his legacy. His son Asuma Sarutobi would go on to train the Ino Shika Cho squad, helping to create one of the village's greatest ever tacticians in Shikamaru Nara. He would sacrifice his own life in order to save theirs and ensure that the future of the village would live on through them. After him, more Sarutobi would continue to step up to the plate with defending the village, training hard in order to continue to make sure that Konohagakure no Kato would continue to live on and be protected, and that the Will of Fire would be alive and well in the future of Konoha. They were always people who worked to protect the village, achieving high positions within areas of the village such as the ANBU Black Ops. Many would become teachers in order to spread what they knew to the future generations of the village, and their name would continue to grow in reputation and prestige as one of the pillars of the village.
Members of the Sarutobi Clan would end up focusing greatly on their mastery of ninjutsu. The proficiency of Hiruzen Sarutobi was something that lived on in every Sarutobi member after him, and it was drilled into them at a young age, causing them to work extra hard in order to live up to the legacy passed down to them by the God of Shinobi. They would often be seen at the tops of academy classes, training extra hard to master different techniques. Many members of the clan over the years were considered to be prodigies, people with immense skill and dedication to their craft. They were well respected and revered for their hard work and dedication to the village and for sacrificing more than any other in their protection of Konoha and its people, and in their drive to see that the future of the village was always looking up.
To this day the influence of the Sarutobi clan is still felt in the village. They are still active members of the society, and are well known for being great leaders, having produced ANBU Captains and even great legends in the shinobi world once more. They continue to strive to ensure that the Will of Fire lives on through them, through their future generations of the Sarutobi, and throughout all of the village of Konoha. They are teachers, squad leaders, division leaders and even idols to the people in their community, always holding a position close to the Hokage, generally as a protector or an advisor. They are also powerhouse shinobi, training at all times to be the best that Konoha has to offer and achieving that goal quite often. They push themselves with their training more than any other, and are revered worldwide for it. Almost every shinobi has heard the name of the Sarutobi clan, either for its past members or for the current members out in the world making a difference everyday, and bettering the name of Konohagakure.
Members:
Sarutobi, SasukeSarutobi, HiruzenSarutobi, AsumaSarutobi, Konohamaru- Sarutobi, Mitsuo

Kekkei Genkai Name: The Will of Fire
Kekkei Genkai Description: The Sarutobi, unlike many other famous clans like the Hyuuga or the Senju, do not possess a special bloodline trait that runs through their veins. However, their devotion to Konoha is unrivaled, and it is their willpower, combined with natural talent, that has led the Sarutobi Clan to produce some of the finest shinobi in the village.
- Monkey Summoners - The Sarutobi Clan has long had a good relationship with the monkeys, and therefore every Sarutobi starts out with a contract for Monkey Summoning (Sarutobi Clan members must start out with Nin and Fuuin of at least C-rank).
- Ninjutsu Specialists - The Sarutobi Clan has long been revered for its mastery of ninjutsu. They have become so proficient at this specialization that all techniques requiring ninjutsu, including combined techniques like the summoning jutsu, require five less chakra for them to cast; this cannot reduce the chakra cost of a jutsu below 5.
- Natural Ability - Members of the Sarutobi Clan have long been naturals at learning new techniques and specializations. They can trace this back to their ancestor Hiruzen Sarutobi, and since his example, they have been known to be very capable learners. They get a 10% wordcount reduction to all training and receive an additional specialization rank (this counts towards the maximum of 25). Because this is innate to their clan, they are not allowed to take any special characteristics that grant wordcount reductions or additional specialization ranks.
Drawbacks:
- Exclusive Summoning - Members of the Sarutobi Clan can never sign a contract with any other summons besides the Monkeys. They can never use summons of any other animals, and if they try to they will expend their chakra for the summon, and it will automatically fail.
- Fundamentalists - Members of the Sarutobi Clan must begin with ninjutsu as either their primary or secondary specialization, as well as katon as their primary element. They do not start with a secondary element and must train it as if they were learning any other element. Because of the weakness of fire to water, they can never learn Suiton, and their aversion to "odd" specializations makes them unable to learn Kugutsu or Genjutsu. Additionally, although Sarutobi Clan members have been known to use several elements and specializations, there are many techniques throughout the ninja world which escape their understanding. This void of knowledge and familiarity creates an ingrained weakness toward these bizarre natures. Advanced element natures such as Kekkei Genkai and Kekkei Tota deal an additional rank of damage to Sarutobi clan members.
- Undying Devotion - As a result of the Sarutobi Clan's reputation for resilience and hard work, the village administration is sometimes known to exploit their devotion and send them on more missions than average before giving them a promotion; as a result, in order to fulfill the requirements for a secondary rank promotion, a Sarutobi must complete extra missions, as detailed below.
Chuunin*: Requires five additional C-rank missions, adding up to a total of four B-rank missions and five C-rank missions.
Jonin: Requires 1 additional A-rank mission and three additional B-rank missions, adding up to a total of six A-rank missions, seven B-rank missions, and five C-rank missions (including those used for the last promotion).
Sannin: Requires five additional A-rank missions, adding up to a total of six S-rank missions, eleven A-rank missions, seven B-rank missions, and five C-rank missions (including those used for the last promotion).
*If a Sarutobi is promoted through the Chuunin Exams, they do not have to fulfill the missions that would have normally been required of them as a chuunin. As a result, a Sarutobi who is promoted to chuunin through the Chuunin Exams will require only six A-rank missions and three B-rank missions for their jonin promotion and only six S-rank missions, eleven A-rank missions, and three B-rank missions for their sannin promotion.
Furthermore, their dedication to mastering the fundamentals can often cause them to "overtrain" before moving on to more advanced skills; as such, to rank up to the next primary rank, a Sarutobi must learn more higher-rank jutsu than normal.
C-rank: Requires six C-rank jutsu and six D-rank jutsu, in addition to freebie jutsu.
B-rank: Requires six B-rank jutsu, in addition to freebie jutsu and previous requirements.
A-rank: Requires six A-rank jutsu, in addition to freebie jutsu and previous requirements.
S-rank: Requires all available S-rank jutsu slots to be filled and previous requirements.
