Special characteristics are characteristics you can add to your character to personalize them and make them your own, with your own choice of advantages and disadvantages to augment your character to better represent what you envision your character to do. Each character on creation is able to choose up to three positive special characteristics, but no more (other than those which your clan may require you have). Then, for each positive special characteristic they chose, they must have at least one negative characteristic for each positive they have chosen. Though you can add as many negatives to your character as you would like.
When these are apped to your profile, it is required that the coding below the special characteristic be copied and pasted into your character profile, for uniformity and simplicity's sake. The spoiler tag can be seen as the white page with the yellow triangle in your writing tools. Simply highlight the text and click that to create a spoiler, adding the title of the characteristic. Note: That +1 tiers to stats attained through Special characteristics stack towards a maximum of +3 passive tiers a character is able to have at any one time.

The user also has +1 tier to their Perception stat.

Major Positive Special Characteristics are more powerful than their normal counterparts. Below is a list of Major Positive Characteristics, which each count as if they were two Positive Special Characteristics, taking two of the three available slots and each requiring two negatives in order to be balanced.

Touch or Contact based Genjutsu triggers still take effect.

Because of this, shinobi with this special characteristic are unable to flee from combat in any capacity other than as a dodge in reaction to an attack except from foes which exceed their own Ninja Rank by two or more ranks (i.e - a C-ranked shinobi could only flee from an A-ranked or higher shinobi). This includes using bodyflicker to flee a thread before their Lethal Damage Threshold is triggered.

After fighting for three posts, they will begin to feel the effects of the illness set in, weakening their body. Once this happens, they reduce a stat (chosen at creation) by -1 tier and worsen by an additional -1 every two posts afterward, up to a total of -4. The specific actual effects of the illness or defect can be specified in character.

Description: This person has a condition where the pressure of their blood pumping through their body is exceedingly high. This is debilitating for the individual, as he/she becomes exerted by high-level physical exertion and an increased heart-rate. If a subject attempts to exert this ninja physically with a technique or after this character uses their maximum strength/speed for 2 posts without rest, it will result in the individual erupting into a bleeding nose or other orifice(s) which will persist for 3 posts or until healed. If a subject attempts to exert this ninja physically with a technique [b]or[/b] after this character uses their maximum strength/speed for 2 posts without rest, it will result in the individual erupting into a bleeding nose or other orifice(s) which will persist for 3 posts or until healed.
