Puppets (傀儡, Kugutsu) are of course used by those with the specialization of the same name; these people are known as Puppeteers. You can register puppets in the Self-Creation Item Shop; please denote in the title that they are puppets, for the Moderator's convenience. Then proceed by using this template here and wait for a mod to review it.
There are two types of puppet.
Traditional puppets (文楽傀儡, Bunrakugutsu) are those that are normally seen in use by ninja. They are the ninja tools that are made of wood and steel, and can be made in any image, be it human, monstrous, or otherwise. They can be broken just like an item can. Generally, they are dangerous by merit of the many traps and hidden weapons they have on themselves. Puppets which can be worn to cover a shinobi’s body, or which are otherwise operated from within begin at A-rank.
Bunraku puppets in themselves are nothing more than complex weapons; they can all have chakra flowed into them using Kugutsu no Jutsu or a similar technique.
Human Puppets (人傀儡, Hito-Kugutsu) are very special and rare puppets which are able to be used by ninja skilled in both Kugutsu as well as Medical Ninjutsu. They are made not from regular weaponry materials, but from the body of a freshly-deceased human being, usually a ninja. The puppet has a 'core of living flesh' that contains the majority of the shinobi's essence. The technique to make a corpse into a Human Puppet is an S-rank Kugutsu/Medical technique; the jutsu must be trained before a Human Puppet can be made. The jutsu used can vary between ninja. In addition, the puppeteer must use this jutsu in the topic that they intend to acquire the human puppet (they do not have to complete the making of the puppet within the thread, but simply activate the jutsu).
Puppets, by themselves, are durable dolls, which, unlike other items, require being hit by two techniques of equal rank to be made vulnerable, instead of one; they take all their threat from their hidden mechanisms and weapons. These can range from tools that ninja themselves would use, to more complex and mechanized weaponry, like buzzsaws and even water-jet cutters.
Modifications are integrated weapons, augmentations, machinery, and mechanisms which are incorporated into a puppet’s chassis. If the ninja wants their puppet to use another item (such as a sword, shield, etc), they have to apply for it separately and pay full price for it as an item. Modifications and weapons, however, must stay on the puppet if not applied for separately. If the puppet is broken, all its inlaid weapons and mechanisms are assumed to be functioning at either sub-par or zero efficiency. Additionally, modifications can be destroyed or rendered non-functioning by a single technique of equal rank or made vulnerable by a technique of one rank lower.
All Bunraku puppets have tier-0 Strength and Speed for their rank. Human Puppets keep the tier of Strength/Speed they had in life, if it was higher than tier-0 of their own rank, or tier-0 of their rank in the case of NPC human puppets.
The amount each weapon can have is as follows.
- E-rank: 2 modification of equal rank.
- D-rank: 3 modifications of equal or lower rank.
- C-rank: 5 modifications of equal or lower rank.
- B-rank: 6 modifications of equal or lower rank.
- A-rank: 2 modifications of equal rank, 5 of lower rank.
- S-rank: 2 modifications of equal rank, 6 of lower rank.
- SS-rank: 2 modifications of equal rank, 8 of lower rank.
Human Puppets are accessible to shinobi who have both the Medical Ninjutsu and Kugutsu specializations. Human Puppets may be made from the corpses of dead Player Characters or applied for as items with the NPC Human Puppet Template. When a PC is killed and turned into a human puppet, they retain all Statistics, Specializations, Elements and techniques they possessed in life. To turn a PC into a Human Puppet requires the use of an S-rank technique capable of transforming a corpse into a Human Puppet in the same thread they are killed, unless they have been preserved in some manner by another technique. After this, they are applied for as an Item using the NPC Human Puppet Template (with the PC information listed, and a link to the thread where it was acquired). In the case of NPC Human Puppets, there are additional limitations.
NPC Human Puppets are always S-rank items, and in addition to their Ryo cost, require a shinobi to possess an S-rank technique capable of transforming a corpse into a Human Puppet, and a single 2500 word training topic (training approved with purchase once the puppet has been approved). NPC Human Puppets are allowed two Specializations and two Elements, and may train any number of techniques of A-rank or lower which these Specs/Elements would allow. In addition, NPC Human Puppets do not possess Kekkei Genkai abilities, and Human Puppets (Whether they are a PC or not) cannot hold Summoning Contracts. Techniques trained for NPC Human Puppets are applied for, trained, and paid for as normal, then added to the Puppet's Jutsu section in the Owner's locker. Furthermore, Shinobi are limited to the use of a single Human Puppet per thread (SS-rank not included, the first Human Puppet that is used in a thread is the only one that will be allowed for that particular thread.
Human Puppets' true uniqueness comes from the puppet itself retaining chakra. Because the core is still alive and the body is the shinobi's own. Kugutsu techniques that do not exceed the rank of the puppet can draw from the Human Puppet's chakra pool. Because they cannot be built from nothing with weaponry in mind, Human Puppets have 3 fewer modifications than Bunraku puppets (-1 of it’s rank and -2 of lower rank). NPC Human Puppets begin knowing a single technique of each rank they are capable of (1x D-rank, 1x C-rank, 1x B-rank, 1x A-rank).
If a Human Puppet has its core destroyed (the core has the same durability as a B-rank item), the puppet loses its ability to use chakra. Human Puppets have a Chakra Pool of 150 Chakra.
