The transition from slumbering peacefully to being wide awake hit Kaia so suddenly upon the clock hitting four in the morning that it had almost made her jump. Nothing in the house had woken her - there was no creak up the steps, no sound of a door closing in the distance, no ghostly moan or groan. Nothing at all. It was if her body had simply realized the time and told her brain it was time to get up and go on about the day. Instead of moving to do just that though she inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly as eyelids fluttered open, breathing in Daremo’s familiar scent as her head remained resting on his chest. She was comfortable in his arms, her preferred sleeping position being cuddled up next to him, and the sound of his beating heart that she could hear so well soothed her in ways no other sound could. This was how she preferred to sleep each and every night: the only position that brought her the peaceful and dreamless slumber she craved so hard. She was loathe to move from her spot, remaining exactly where she was was something she could do all day - not that they’d likely be able to get away with that.
Still, she was more than willing to take advantage of it while she could. Laying there, in that peaceful silence of the house, hearing nothing more than Daremo’s gentle breathing and the sound of his beating heart, she felt the inner peace she had been missing for the three months they were apart. This was exactly what she had needed after such a long distance, and yet somehow she knew this peaceful morning could not last. Almost as if she had jinxed herself she heard in the distance a knock at the door. Shifting her piercing blue gaze back to the clock she found that it only read four o’ five: meaning she was more than willing to ignore the door in exchange for remaining snuggled close to the love of her life a little bit longer. But, whoever was there clearly wasn’t going to allow her to get away with that, as a second round of knocking soon reached her ears. Holding back a sigh and moving gingerly as to not disturb her love - whom she assumed was still asleep - she moved herself away and out of the bed after untangling her nude form from the sheets that had covered her modestly.
Instead of heading out of their bedroom immediately she paused by one of two hooks on the back of the bedroom door where their robes hung. Her hand reached out, the thought more subconscious than conscious, as instead of grabbing her own she grabbed his. The fabric draped delicately over her flesh like a protective second skin, covering her nude form while smothering her in Daremo’s scent in the process. Unable to stop herself she paused before opening the door, pulling a bit of the robe up to her nose and inhaling deeply with a smile: breathing in the scent that had become so familiar with her it was as if it were a part of her very soul. Yet, once more the knocking came, dragging her from her peacefulness once more, a sigh escaping Kaia’s lips before she opened the bedroom door and stepped out, closing the door only partially behind herself. She made her way to the front door, whoever was knocking thankfully not doing so again. Pausing on the other side she adjusted the robe once more, ensuring her naked form beneath it was hidden entirely from view - she was for Daremo’s eyes only after all - before opening the door with a fairly annoyed look on her face. “Can I help you?”, she asked, her gaze noticing the official attire that marked the messenger as a member of the village they were currently visiting - the only reason her newly acquired attitude hadn’t made its presence known.
The individual gave a polite bow - which Kaia did not return considering what she was wearing - before beginning to speak, “My apologies for the early hour. The help of you and your husband has been requested. You will find all the information you need here.” A scroll was held out to Kaia as the young male stopped speaking: it was clear to Kaia he was nothing more than a messenger - he knew no more about what that scroll contained than she currently did. While she had very much wanted to give the poor kid a hard time, perhaps bust his chops a bit, she instead reached out and took the scroll without allowing any contact between either of their hands. Instead of a verbal replace she simply stepped back, closing the door in the young male’s face and locking it. As a gentle groan of annoyance escaped her she made her way back to the bedroom, her plans of returning to bed and cuddling her husband for a few more hours all but destroyed. Stepping back into the bedroom she closed the door behind herself before looking over towards the bed where she had left her beloved. “Are you awake, sleepy head?”, she’d ask playfully should he still be laying there, making her way over while keeping herself wrapped up in his robe.
