Clan History: The Hyūga Clan is among the oldest clans known to date, and one of the four proud founding clans of Konohagakure no Sato. The Hyūga Clan was originally divided into two sections, the Main House and the Branch House. The ruling family of the Hyūga Clan was known as the Main House and controlled everything the clan did and was taught. The Branch House made up the bulk of the Clan and was taught to defend the Main House at all costs, even at the cost of their own lives. This was accomplished through the barbaric practice of branding their youth with a Cursed Seal.

The Hyūga Clan has become infamous for three separate things. The most notable of these three things is their legendary Dōjutsu the all-seeing Byakugan. The Byakugan, one of the three legendary Dōjutsu is the pinnacle of sensory Dōjutsu, allowing the wielder to have between 270 and 360 degree vision. The awe inspiring power of the Byakugan does not end at that point, not only can the user see the most minute details around himself or herself, he or she can see chakra pathways as well as Tenketsu or major chakra points in the body. Finally, this Dōjutsu allows the member of the Hyūga clan to see through objects or people with little to no effort.

Ultimately, through training and effort, due to the unison over time between the Uzumaki and the Hyūga clan lines, the blood of the Ōtsutsuki flows through the veins of the Hyūga, though diluted and the emanation is rare, the Byakugan has been known to transform into a grander state, once known as the Tenseigan, elevating their abilities and granting the user incredible power equal to the strength of even the Mangekyo Sharingan. Though, now little more than an evolution of the Byakugan itself, the Tenseigan has been long lost to the Hyuga, the Ultimate form of their silver eyes, little more than a shadow of their paragon's power.

The second most notable feat the Hyūga clan has accomplished is their Taijutsu fighting style, which is largely considered to be the pinnacle of Taijutsu fighting styles and is the clan’s Hidan technique. When used in unison with their Byakugan the Hyūga Clan member is able to cut and seal chakra flow in their opponents through expelling quick bursts of chakra from their hands. These bursts of chakra can be lethal to an opponent if they are stricken in vital areas, such as the heart, or gut.

Finally, the Hyūga clan was known for their Juinjutsu, in which the Main House members would brand a Cursed Seal onto the foreheads of ALL Branch House members. This Cursed Seal would give Main House members complete control over the Branch House members, even the ability to kill them if they pleased. This practice was abolished and outlawed by the tenth Hokage, which caused some Main House members to flee Konohagakure, fearing punishment and death. Though the practise was abolished, there are rumours floating around in the underground about the illegal practise of the Kinjutsu to date amongst its members between the houses.

Kekkei Genkai Name: Byakugan - 白眼 (All Seeing White Eye)
Kekkei Genkai Description: The namesake of the Hyūga clan stems from their legendary Dojutsu; The Byakugan. Known far and wide as one of the three legendary Dojutsu inherited from Kaguya Otsutsuki alongside the Sharingan and the Rinnegan, the Byakugan is known for its far superior visual prowess compared to that of its kindred with its abilities to see in microscopic detail, the chakra within others including their pathways and tenketsu and even the ability to see into the hearts of others.


The Byakugan visually is almost unremarkable, appearing as a silver featureless iris without a pupil, though this color has been known to alter depending on the user or the chakra flowing through the body of the wielder causing the hue or effects to change.When activated, the act of flowing the required chakra through their eyes causes great strain, often causing the veins around them to become visible. While many within the clan are born with it visually manifesting in some manner, it’s not unheard of for a member of the Hyūga to have to awaken their eye through an emotional event, or for a member with more dilute Hyūga blood to only manifest it in one eye, rather than two. However, its with the use of this brilliant Dojutsu that the Hyūga mastered the art of Taijutsu, using the sight abilities of the Byakugan to study chakra and its networks to such a degree within themselves and others they perfected chakra flow like an art, giving birth to Jūken.

• Jūken - 柔拳 (Gentle Fist:) Gentle Fist was the style lovingly crafted by the Hyuga to take advantage of their ability to see the Tenketsu and chakra pathways within both themselves and their opponents. Allowing them to effectively use all 361 Tenketsu within their own bodies as well as precisionately strike the Tenketsu of an opponent by injecting chakra projected from their own tenketsu, using their jutsu to either open or close the chakra gates. The versatility and strength of combined blows to a person's’ chakra system causing a potentially crippling effect on their ability to use their chakra or even severe physical ailment. Unlike other Taijutsu, Gentle fist focuses on the swiftness of their open palm strikes, and not power or mobile performance, as such Gentle fist grants an increase to Reaction Time as opposed to Speed or Strength.
  
  Members of the Hyūga clan with Taijutsu are able to app their Taijutsu as; Taijutsu (Reaction Time -Striking - Jūken). Jūken is a unique fighting style that, with the aid of an active Byakugan, projects needle like projectiles of chakra into an opponent to strike at their chakra points. Hyūga with Jūken are able to app and train taijutsu techniques which attack an opponent's’ Tenketsu to varying effects, be it ending jutsu, sealing away chakra points by closing them, or opening their tenketsu causing chakra to bleed out or empower others. Additionally, with each of the Jūken users’ successful basic strikes, the Hyūga is capable of targeting the chakra flow of an active technique allowing them to disturb the flow and ultimately end the jutsu and commence its cooldown with enough hits. The amount of hits required is dependant on the activation cost of the technique the Hyuga is targeting, requiring one successful blow for every 5 chakra the technique costs.

Byakugan Ranks:

Unlike the Sharingan which requires intense emotional trauma or emotion in order to mutate and unlock its potential, the Byakugan simply requires training and skill on the behalf of the wielder in chakra control to be able to increase the power and versatility of the Dojutsu.

Standard Eyes:

The standard eyes of the Byakugan while they’re not active or not even yet attained by the user. The Byakugan in this state can appear in a number of ways depending on whether the eyes are physically dormant within the clan member, there’s a unique type of chakra flowing through the user passively or simply if they’re not trained to the point of its use yet. Generally however, they appear as silver-white iris’ without pupils, and confer no bonus to the user.

D Rank:

At Genin (D Rank), after the Hyūga has completed a 2000 word training thread and paid 500 ryo, they’re able to activate their Byakugan, gaining the visual power of the legendary Dojutsu! At this rank, the Byakugan is able to see the basic chakra system and tenketsu of ninja within its 275 degree range of sight for 30m (even through clothing), granting them a +1 tier to their perception stat to visual cues. Additionally, it allows the user to use Jūken (Gentle Fist) and its techniques!

C Rank:

At Chunin (C Rank), the Hyūga is able to complete a 3000 word training thread and pay 1000 ryo to attain this stage of the Byakugan. At this rank the Byakugan's range of vision is increased to 300 degrees of telescopic sight in a 45m Radii and is able to vaguely see chakra as translucent colored light, even through light armor and thin walls as well as the world around them in minute detail. Additionally at this rank the Byakugan is capable of penetrating D rank and lower stealth techniques within its range.

B Rank:

At Tokujo (B Rank) the Hyūga is able to complete a 4000 word training thread and pay 1500 ryo to attain this stage of the Byakugan. At this rank the Byakugan grants the user an additional +1 tier to their perception stat to visual cues and the range of vision is increased to 320 degrees in a 110m radii and is able to see through non chakra enhanced metals / armor as well as through most terrain and chakra enhanced fogs or smoke screens such as the ‘Hiding in Mist Technique.’ Additionally at this rank the Byakugan is capable of penetrating C rank and lower stealth techniques within its range.

A Rank:

At Jonin (A Rank) the Hyūga is able to complete a 5000 word training thread and pay 2000 ryo to attain this stage of the Byakugan. At this rank the Byakugan's range of vision is increased to 340 degrees in a 450m radii and gains total X-ray vision capable of seeing through all substances within its range in almost microscopic detail as well as gaining the ability to definitively see how much chakra is within the chakra systems of others as well as the world around them as its formed and cast, but cannot ascertain their elemental affinity. Additionally at this rank the Byakugan is capable of penetrating B rank and lower stealth techniques within its range.

S Rank:

Once the user has reached the pique of their training (S Rank.) the Hyūga is able to complete a 9000 word training thread and pay 2500 ryo to attain this stage of the Byakugan. At this rank the Byakugan's range of vision is increased to 360 degrees in a 900m radii in pristine detail, enhancing the fine control of their sight to be able to ascertain basic elemental affinities of people within their sight range as well as in jutsu as they’re being cast. Finally, the Byakugan at this rank is capable of penetrating A rank and lower stealth techniques within its range, additionally, a Hyuga who has mastered their Byakugan to this degree is capable of learning Soul-Sight.

Drawbacks:
The Byakugan is well known as one of the most powerful Dojutsu in the ninja world, though the Hyūga themselves are not without their fair share of weaknesses. Other than the gap in their vision the Hyūga suffer in the lower ranks of their Byakugan, they suffer from the following traits.

• An Ocular Crutch: The Hyūga were born into power and trained from the time of their birth to use that particular power, so it’s understandable that they grow to rely on it more and more as it becomes stronger and stronger. For each tier of perception the Byakugan grants the user while it is active, as a drawback they recieve -1 tier of perception to anything they cannot perceive with it.
  
  
• Limited Expertise: The Hyūga mode of training follows a strict series of protocols to draw out the strength of their Byakugan as well as their Jūken, often placing more emphasis on their strengths than covering their weaknesses. Because of this a Hyūga must take Hesitant (Element), which cannot be balanced with an additional positive and cannot learn a fourth specialization. As such they cannot take the Hesitant (Specialization) negative SC.
  
  
• Gentle Fist: With the creation of the Jūken style, the Hyūga have seldom needed to deliver powerful strikes in order to cripple or overwhelm their opponents, instead focusing on precision finesse and speed to target key locations to break enemies down. As such, members of the Hyuga clan get -2 tiers to their strength stat.
  
  
• Wealthy Reputation: The Hyūga is a massive clan of some renown, known to all within Konoha as well as the world at large for their strength and wealth. It’s not uncommon for merchants to hike their prices knowing that members of the clan can often afford even ludicrous markups and tend to pay without much thought. Because of this Hyūga clan members must pay an additional 10% Ryo on item and jutsu purchases.
