From late night to early morning.

That was how long the Uchiha had been walking in the wilderness. The path was winding and mushy in some places from the damp conditions of the weather. From time to time, she found herself slipping and sliding from the terrain. It was no easy task finding a solid foundation under her feet. What made it a little more difficult was the fact that a thick fog had rolled in during the early hours of morning. The progress she was making would be slow. Dreadfully slow. But, stopping would only be the death of her since there was no stable shelter around the area. Of course, she had to take a moment of time to rest under a tree or on top of a boulder. Even she was a human with limits.

Teru Uchiha. Walking through the swamps of her country's wilderness. She was alone on this trail, but she did not expect to be. It was a flash of events, she thought. All that had happened that day, when she first crossed paths with that menacing shadow, was a walk through the village streets. Teru could not recall it quite clearly. Was it a trip home? Or maybe, a trip to the shops for a couple bags of sweets? She shook her head quietly. There was no telling. Perhaps it was safe to say that she no longer held in that fuzzy memory. What a shame it was, she scolded herself. As young as she was, it was a bad sign that she was losing the good memories. But, what happened after that fateful occurrence? Ah, that was right! She woke up in a musty place and encountered a number of individuals. That was still as clear as day. Oh, and it was the day she made her first, official kill. As rewarding as the first time was, she did regret not having second thoughts at the time. Ugh, she breathed a sigh of discontent. The taste of blood from her prey still lingered in her mouth. Flesh, blood, and... bone. If she was losing good memories, then maybe this delightful one would fly away.

What else came with that traumatic event? Oh, yes, meeting her partners. Both were around her age, she thought. Their names escape her, but she was able to recall the excellent teamwork they had. Teru stopped on the path she was on and turned her head around. She wondered quietly if those two had found their ways home. If they lived or died, she did not know. Regardless of what had happened to the two she actually "liked," she wished a safe journey for them. One day, maybe not the next day or today, she would meet them again on the road of endless despair. There was much to discuss with them- this journey she was on and the fact that she was still walking strong. Aching, but strong.

Teru walked on through the mist with her cold eyes focused on the fogbound road ahead. No more did she think of that half-rotted time. Now, anything on her mind was focused on what was to come. She met with the deadly Sero Osada of the Anbu Corp. He let her live, that was for certain, and it seemed as though he was going to let her live her life for a little while longer. It had been a while now, but she was going to see Sero again. Very, very soon. Just as long as she made it through the long road she was on. Oh, but wait. There was one more thing she had to digress to. A memory that had suddenly entered the darkness of her mind. Teru lightly brushed her fingers against her bandaged leg, but she did not stop walking. She recollected again, and remembered the scars she received from the last trial of Sero. The scars would undoubtedly be there forever, but they were the signs of a victorious moment. It changed her for the better, she strongly believed. More serious, strict, and unafraid of killing. Ah... she was going to become a monster if she had not already turned into one. Okay, no more remembering, Teru firmly pressed her fist against her forehead. I need to stay alert!

The fog lightened up only slightly, but it was enough for the Genin to get a better understanding of where it was she wandered. At times, she would stop a moment and kneel down to the earth. She felt around the ground to make sure that it was not a pit she was walking blindly into. And, when she determined that it was safe, she continued on with caution at the ready. Her ears were perked, listening for possible signs of animals or enemies. Being in the wild lands, anything could happen. Anything... Lucky for Teru, she had her gear back, and she was ready to fight if it came down to it. The self-made weapon, however, was cast out a while back when she first had the chance to get rid of it. It was useless, anyway.

Teru paused briefly in her steps. Now, the fog was hanging low on the path to reveal her obstacle. The muddy road led the Kirigakure kunoichi into a swampy area. There were some trees and many bushes. "I... I think I am going the right way," Teru mumbled to herself. Just to be safe, she pulled out a kunai knife and held it tight in her right hand. "There was only one road, so this has to be the way." It made her feel a great amount of concern, though. This unknown territory she was about to go through. Sero was a solitary kind of person, right? Teru pondered. Because she vowed to see him again- not as a foe or simple ally, but as a subordinate- there may not be any surprises. If she had any value in his eyes, there would certainly be warning. She was about to find out.

Without delaying herself any longer, Teru Uchiha took a step forward towards the entrance of the swamp. The feeling in her gut that told her something was going to happen never left her, but she walked forward. If she did encounter anything or anyone... she would kill.

The journey through the swamp was a pleasant one, so far. Birds chirping was all she could hear in the air, but her eyes did catch sight of a tiny animal running from bush to bush. It was only a glimpse, but she could have sworn that it was a fox or rabbit. Neither one was something she worried about. All animals were fine in her book, as long as they kept their distance. Well, if she was desperate for food, then she would have to harm a couple of the cute, little ones. Or, a big one to satisfy her hunger for a couple of days. But, the longer she thought about food, the harder her journey was going to be.

As she walked, Teru glanced up at the blue sky above her head. It was not going to be much longer. The morning was moving by fast, and it was moving onto the afternoon now. If she did not make it to her destination soon, she would be forced to travel in the darkness. She grimaced at the thought. While the shadows were a ninjas greatest friends, they were also among the worst enemies. The speed in her footsteps increased. Not to a run, nor a jog. She simply walked at a quick pace as to not waste so much energy.

What luck...

Clouds were approaching. They were not the clouds of the pure white kind. As much as she wished for them to be the puffy clouds that made everyday a good one, they were not. The ones that Teru gazed upon were of another type. Looming over the distant islands, gray in color and growing in size. These clouds were towering high in the sky. Thunderheads. Anyone in Kirigakure, or anywhere for that matter, could identify them. They were getting closer and closer by the minute. Teru puckered her lips to the side and huffed, "This is just my day." So, she moved onward through a small group of trees. Through there, she found herself in a clearing where she was exposed to the elements. She put her right foot out in front of her, and then her left foot. Not another step was taken, however.

It was far too quiet. The birds had stopped their chirping, mysteriously. Before, she could hear them all over. But, now? She could only wonder as to why they would suddenly settle down. If they left, then she would have heard the flapping of their wings through the tree branches and leaves. It was not because of the storm that was on its way, she could tell that with certainty. Teru narrowed her eyes and pulled the kunai in her hand closer to her torso. Perhaps... there were never any birds to begin with. And, what about the animals that she had actually seen? Were they make-believe, too? Teru opened her mouth to let out a few words, but then she heard the sound of movement in the bushes behind her. No, from the trees. "Is someone there-"

Tuff!

Her eyes were wide with shock as a thin cut appeared on the left side of her neck. It was a shallow cut and nothing to truly worry about, but it could have been if it had been a little deeper. And, if it had accurately struck her in the artery. Teru briefly glanced down at the ground, a few feet behind her. Sticking out of the ground, and piercing it with a sharpened edge, was a shuriken. She was facing the direction where the shinobi tool came from, a hand pressed against the small wound on her neck. "Who are you?" was all she said, and she waited for a response. There was no immediate response, except for a little more rustling. Whoever it was stalking her, they were preparing to attack her yet again. "I'm warning you..."

Two more shuriken flew out from the trees, but Teru was ready this time. With the kunai she had at the ready, Teru deflected both shuriken in two motions, and they stuck themselves somewhere in the ground. Not that she cared as to where they went. With the exception of the first, the two that were just barely thrown were incredibly easy to spot. It must have been a rookie that she was dealing with. It put half of a smile on her face, actually. He or she is not coming out, she observed. In that case, I should force them out with a little heat.

Teru breathed in as deeply as she could and allowed for a flood of chakra to pour in. Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu. A team of ten fireballs shot out from Teru's mouth and impacted the trees of the swamp. The flames were burning and consuming the leaves, and continued on without interruption. A figure leaped out from the expected hiding place, just as she thought would happen, and landed a short distance on the other side of Teru. "...You're a fool for trying to hide from me," she clenched her teeth and watched the cloaked individual with careful eyes. It was a man without a doubt. He was tall, but his build lacked the athletic features that most men had. But, there was no telling if he actually lacked any fighting skill or not. It depended on if he engaged in combat with her or not. "Who are you?"

Without reply, the man turned on his heels and charged after Teru with all his might. He was not much faster than the standard Genin of her village, which was rather disappointing. She could run circles around him if she wanted to. "Rargh!" the man howled like a beast as he swung his arm out to punch Teru, but she ducked and struck him in the abdomen with her fist. It may have hurt him some, but she was the one wincing. He is like a wall, she noted and hopped back a couple of feet. That was not the worst of it, however. The second she reopened her eyes from a blink, she saw that he had disappeared.

"He was right about you," a voice echoed in the breeze. "You're still a pitiful, little brat. Unworthy of the Uchiha name. You can't even tap into the clan's hidden power, huh?"

Teru's eyes were searching, unaware of what this mysterious foe had in mind. Was it a jutsu? Or was he faster than she initially thought he was? There was no telling that fact. "That's a shame..." The voice was close. She was too slow to even catch on the first second, and it was too late now. Both of her legs were knocked out from under her, and a hand crashed down upon her and forcefully shoved her head to the ground. Just struggling against his hold at that point was impossible, but a knee planted in her lower back to prevent her from getting a chance to get away. "Might as well make it easy on the guy and take out the wimp. I'll take my time, though."

Without warning, Teru was struck in the back with a strong kick, and she was sent rolling another three feet. It hurt incredibly, but she pushed herself off the ground and got up to her feet. I completely underestimated the guy, she realized. He's ticking me off already. But, she was not sure if she was going to be able to keep up with him now that she got an idea of what his strength was like. He would snap her like a twig if given the chance, so she was going to have to take extreme caution...

The sudden encounter emerged into a full-throttle battle with Teru on the losing end. All she was able to manage was deflecting a couple of shuriken and dodge a punch. He staved off her punches and kicks, and even knocked her back several feet without too much trouble. "Hah," Teru gritted her teeth as he heel came down on her opponent's forearm. He grunted, but it did not seem to faze him effectively. Crap... The Uchiha braced herself when he took hold of her ankle, but her breath was robbed when she crashed down on her back. "Gah...Huff..."

Teru coughed and gasped for air, but it was not over yet. She could only lift her hand in an attempt to hold him back. It was a weak attempt due to her being dazed. And, the palm of this tormentor struck her square in the chest... Resulting in the young kunoichi coughing and hacking up blood. "Cat got your tongue?" the man taunted, not yet moving from where he was. His hand was still holding her down as she struggled for air. The struggle she was having made him grin. "Yeah, you go on and die. Hurry it up, why don't ya?"

What does he want with me? I've never even met him.... and he wants me to die? Am I... going to die?

This isn't another test... It can't be!

...Ugh, my head feels.... so fuzzy...

I don't want to die. Not yet.

The landscape was blurring and becoming unstable in her eyes. Her body tingled faintly from taking such a beating. Dying. Going to die. On the verge of death. That was all she could think about as this dark silhouette crouched over her collapsed form. His face twisted something into evil. Dark eyes and a cheeky, sharp-toothed grin. He mouthed some insulting words, but they sounded like mumbles. All she could hear was the staggered beats of her own heart. The pain she felt in her torso intensified as he tormented her even further. I'm not dying. I'm not going to die. I am not on the verge of death. Her vision was stabilizing, but she was not out of danger, yet. Apart from the pain in her chest and stomach, something sharp pierced her eyes. It was razor like a kunai, but invisible. What was it that hurt her visual tools so badly?

"Heh, you want to know something?" Teru listened, but didn't answer. The man was looking at everything other than her emotionless face. One of his hands moved away from his side and to her waistline. A finger played with the edge of her shirt, lifting it up and letting it fall so teasingly. "I never did care how young they were." After he said those words, he did exactly as she thought he would. His hand retreated to the belt around his waist and undid it. She could only watch as he attempted to do the only thing the worst of them ever thought to do. Teru's face burned; she was seeing red. This cannot be happening. I cannot let this happen! And the pain died down.

When she no longer felt as much of the pain as before, and she was seeing blood red. Tiger. Teru clasped her hands together as he undid the bonds of his pants, barely noticing Teru take in a deep breath. Fire Style... Great Fireball Jutsu! The orb of fire was massive in size as she exhaled. Light from the fire illuminated the shock on his face as he came to realize that there was no escaping a jutsu like that at point blank range. "Ah..." the reaction upon impact. He was numbing, wasn't he? But then his face became distorted as his burning body rose into the sky, some feet above the peaks of the trees. "AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" And, there was one more, final scream as he fell to the ground, burns covering his entire body.

Teru slowly got up to her feet and pulled out a kunai knife after having lost sight of her other one. He was still alive, but not for much longer. Her burning gaze locked onto his twitching form. The single tomoe was orbiting her pupil, but she was too focused on her prey to bother with discovering this new feature. "You.... still... alive?" Teru mumbled, limping towards him with the kunai. A fine line of blood trickled down her chin and down the front of her neck. She was standing over him now with killing intent. "Let me... change that. It'll be quick." Dropping down to one knee, Teru brought down the kunai and implanted it... in the center of the man's chest. In a matter of moments, he would be dead and not her. The image of gore was complemented by the screams of death.

Raindrops fell from the clouds hanging overhead, and the rumbling thunder informed the kunoichi that the thunderstorm had arrived. The death of her attacker was not cared for, but it would be later on. For now, she limped along to continue her journey to "home." The clothes on her back were getting soaked now from the heavy rain, but she cared not. She needed a shower, nonetheless.

Teru was passed through the swamp and made it to the other side of the wilderness after several hours of limping along the path. Bruised and bloody, she kept walking until something in the distance caught her attention. The lightning striking did well to reveal it. "A... house?" she wondered out loud. Her eyes returned to their original form as she studied the building structure. It was not even a mile away, so she could make the walk. The night-time had come, so that was going to be where she rested until her wounds healed.

"Huff... Huff..."

Teru's eyes were growing weary as she walked on through the rain. The storm was raging on all around her, and there was no end in sight. If she did not get out of it quick, then there was a chance she would not see the morning after this hideous night. The pain she was feeling was so hard to endure. She was not sure if she would be able to go on, but the negative thoughts soon ceased when she got closer to the building. The size of it was like a mansion. Maybe it really was one of those, but only the wealthiest of people managed to get their hands on homes of those caliber. The reasons behind it being out there were a mystery to her, but she was too pleased with being at the doorstep to even bother with figuring that business out.

She was out of breath and ready to collapse to the ground at any second. But, before that would happen, she tilted her head back to really size the building up. There was a wobble in her legs. "Who... lives here?" Teru mumbled. It took so much strength to even lift up her right arm, and all she wanted to do was knock on the door. Only two, light taps on the front of the door were pulled off, and Teru was on the ground with her body leaning against the door. Hopefully someone had heard her rather than something. As she slipped out of consciousness, she silently prayed for the aid of a miracle. Someone had to come. The exhausted ninja was in a state of rest now as the rain drenched her form. Blood-covered- not all of the blood was hers- and badly bruised in some places. It was a wonder that she was still alive. No doubt, recovery would take quite some time.

Is someone there?

The door would remain closed until she was passed out. The smell of blood clear to Sero as he moved to the door. Soaked as it may be with the rain an inhale would tell him there was fresh blood just on the other side of that door. Pain and confusion seemed to ring like a high pitched bell. His pale hand reached out and touched the wood there as his eyes rolled back and he felt out with his sage chakra letting the chakra pull him within and feel everything for several meters around him. Outside the door was some form of corrupted child. A hint of his own corruption within her. Her life blood was safe for the most part though her body was clearly damaged. He could almost feel the fever from her. She was out of a conscious state for the moment as the storm poured down outside around her. No other stood close. His hand pulled back and his eyes returned to normal as he lowered his pale hands. Opening both doors and allowing her to slump into the manor onto the floor. Lights flickering from the gust of wind. He would speak then seemingly to no one in particular. A cold tone from his voice.

"Take her to her room. Cover her wounds in wet rags and have Yasuo preform any needed medical treatment. I will be going to investigate where she came from. The prodigal student returns."

He had of course recognized Teru even feverish falling into his home. His memory was impeccable even without the clean appearance this time. Her wounds were a memory of his. Her leg matching up. It had been some time since she fled and now, it seemed she hadn't had it tended to. He had seen wounds fester and fever set in. Yasuo could handle it though. It had been months but here she was and alive. As he finished speaking the shadows seemed to shift and out of them a wave of spiders moved. Shifting under her and lifting her limp form before carrying her up to her room. Sero on the other hand shifted. His grey robes growing mist out the top as a red hooded cloak shifted over him. Sandals shifting to boots right before the cloak covered him and he seemed to fade from sight with the rain behind him. His form gone from reality just like that. A moment later the doors slammed closed. Sero moved as he tracked her fading signs of movement.

It didn't take him long to smell the scent of burnt flesh and blood a good distance away. He moved through the torn up burning underbrush and stepped into a clearing. There on the ground were spiders beginning to wrap up a body to claim. They sensed Sero and skittered about looking everywhere but seeing nothing. These were not of his own. A different breed. He would allow his chakra to growl out at them and for the moment they scattered. He cared not to deny them a meal but instead he stepped forward. A pale hand moving from under the cloak and pulling web from the forms face. It was the man they had released instead of killing. One of the two. She had killed him it seemed. He would allow a small smile for a second before he would. move his hand back under his cloak. The thunder peeling out before he turned and moved back to the manor. While he was gone they had obeyed his orders and Yasuo had healed the wounds. The fever would break in time. Still Sero returned to the manor and as he stepped back in his cloak and robes as well as his boots faded in smoke to be replaced by silver long robes and grey shinobi pants with socks on his feet inside padded shoes. He moved to the girls room and shifted within. Moving to a chair in the darkest corner of the room and watching her. Only his grey eyes seeming to shine in the dark corner.

No attention was paid to the storm that raged. Not even to the fact that someone was watching her at that very moment. If she was as alert as she had been before, it would have given her the signature chill up the spine that affected most of the human race. She was unresponsive to that familiar sensation, and even ignored the fact that she was falling forward. The door was opening and gave the weakened kunoichi no chance to pick herself up. Before she was lost to the unconscious world, Teru cracked one eye open to a squint. Her vision was blurry, but she was able to make out the lines of a person's silhouette. The Uchiha was at his feet- at his mercy. But, it was gladdening to know that she was getting out of the rain. She closed her eye in wait for what was to come next. Death? Torture? The first was so close a couple times before. And, the second, she was starting to get to know it more. Teru was patient as she lied on the ground, slumped at the air around her became heavy.

Thunder rumbled and lightning struck. Her body was frail and unresponsive, but her ears were still in full, functioning mode. She was still being watched over. "Take her to her room. Cover her wounds in wet rags and have Yasuo preform any needed medical treatment. I will be going to investigate where she came from. The prodigal student returns," were the words that were spoken. They were not directed to her, but to someone else. That cold voice. She remembered it from somewhere. The trial. Yes, there was no doubt about it. This person she was at the feet of. Teru's right, index finger twitched in response to recalling the origin of this person's voice. Sero Osada. The vocals matched perfectly. Oh, the irony of the moment. She departed from that place he had taken her to in an attempt to return to the life she loved before. Yet, here she was, lying at his feet. Fate was a cruel force.

A curious thought came to her mind. He was speaking to someone, but it was not her. She did not hear or feel the presence of anyone other than Sero. There was a tapping sound that lightly vibrated in the floor beneath her, soon disappearing into the storm. Teru was alone now, or so she thought. Mere moments passed when there was a suspicious sound coming from within the manor. Again, she cracked open an eye to a narrow squint to try and see what it was, but she was quickly returning to an unconscious state. Not without catching a glimpse of countless, tiny critters moving closer to her form. They were not ants, but... spiders! There had to have been thousands of them. Dozens of spider legs touched her arms and lifted them with unthinkable strength. Others gathered underneath her body and pulled her along to another part of the manor, and out from the rain. She was lucky to be unconscious now.

Some time passed after being dragged into the manor by the spiders. The strength in Teru's body was gradually returning, and so was her consciousness. In silence, she stirred until she was able to open both eyes. She expected to find herself lying flat on her face in another dungeon-like location, but she was taken by surprise. Teru was lying on her back instead of her face, and on a soft material, too. It was comfortable and made her want to fall back into rest again with the blankets pulled over her nose. How good it felt to be in a bed again. She was unable to sleep, however, for this was not exactly the right setting. This was not her home, nor was this her bed.

Teru slowly got up to a sitting position with her hands planted on the sides of the mattress. Her body was stiff, but she could move well enough. Stiff and feverish, but alive. I'm in a room, Teru pointed out to herself and gazed around the resting quarters. Occasional flashes of lightning lit up the shadows of the room. If it was not for the lightning, she would not have noticed that she was in the company of someone else. There it was- the chilly, ominous feeling that she felt once before. "You..." Teru breathed, catching sight of a single figure lurking in the shadows. The lightning made his pale skin visible to her before concealing it back in the darkness. The reflection in those cold eyes of his were all she could see for a time. "Sero... Osada." She paused, expecting to feel the pain of her wounds from before. But, there was no extreme pain. Everything was healed, surprisingly. "I guess I need to thank you, huh?"

Sero would wait impatiently as the girl slept. He had allowed her to flee and yet here she was. Dirty in the bed once reserved to her with mud caked onto a great deal of her. The appearance of the dead risen from the grave. It wasn't beyond the realm of what he had seen but he could hear her heart beat if he focused. See her chest rise with breath after breath. She lived still but a part of him wondered for how long. Perhaps this was little more than a trap or a distraction. Someones master design to finally reach him. His instincts told him to take the safe road. To reach around her wind pipe and grip it before pulling it out of her. Chances are she would only wake when it was done if she woke at all. Not fast enough to put up a fight. Just laying their gurgling on her own life blood. Drowning as she would struggle in vain for air as terror faded to realization that there would be no saving herself. That there was no way out of such a wound. He had seen it before on other victims. It would not be much of a struggle of conscious.

When she stirred he noticed his finger was tapping on the wood as if he were unsure. So much risk letting her wake. There was no one he knew of beyond the Mizukage and a stranger he met once he could not take down though. A confidence built from experience. For now curiosity was winning over caution. His finger stopped moving and he watched without moving a muscle. Much like a statue off to the side of the room. She would rise up on the bed and gain her bearings for a moment before a flash of lightning from outside would reveal him to her. He knew she could feel him so knowing he was in the room likely wasn't a shock regardless of the fever. Still she barely spoke a few words to him. Becoming more clear with each word spoken as he raised an eyebrow. The fever seemed to have set in and was keeping her from thinking fully. It would burn itself out though as she was in no more danger of dying. Instead he retorted in a cold tone as always. His eyes never blinking as they watched her. Ever vigilant of any tricks she may have.

"You recalled and invoked my name. I would not thank me as of yet though. I have questions that I have grown unsure your feverish mind can offer answers to. If I am not satisfied there are less comfortable quarters ready for you."

He would rise from his chair. His form almost gliding across the room as with his robes it was difficult to tell if he actually walked or if he actually floated over to her. As he passed the window and the light crashed against it again it would appear for an instant as if he had red eyes with a third eye open in his forehead. Long spindly legs shifting back and forth like shadows on the wall and coming for her. As the flash faded he stood in front of her normal once more. A stream of mist finding its way into his hand and swirling before forming a canteen full of what appeared to be chilled water. His eyes watching her as he settled into a seat next to her on the bed and handed the treasured liquid to her. His grey eyes ever studying her as he spoke once more.

"I wish to know where you have been since the first exam. It has been a great deal of time and only now you arrived at my doorstep again. The rest of your squad is MIA and as far as I am concerned considered deserters. Tell me madame Teru, do you feel you yourself are a deserter or a survivor. Give me reason not to assume the first. Yes?"

Teru was not entirely sure about what she should make of the situation. She was out of the harsh conditions of the wilderness, but now she was in the hands of a man who could snap her bones in just seconds. Perhaps she was safer with him than being out there on her own. She was nearly killed by that man, after all. Rather than bother with the possibilities of what could happen, Teru focused her attention on the man sitting in the corner of the room. He was quiet and observing her like a watchful hawk guarding its nest. It was likely he did not trust her on her own. But, could she blame him? Ninjas did what they did to thrive in the world. That did include using the arts of deception. And, Teru was among the world's ninja; therefore, she would have to use deceiving methods to get where she wanted. Use them against Sero? She could, but she knew better than that. The life she lived now was one that she wanted to further. She was smarter than that, so she was not going to do such a thing to the man who spared her life once before.

"You recalled and invoked my name. I would not thank me as of yet though. I have questions that I have grown unsure your feverish mind can offer answers to. If I am not satisfied there are less comfortable quarters ready for you." Teru raised her head as Sero spoke to her. When he stood from his seat, she could have sworn that she was being drawn into the abyss of a nightmare. But, she was awake, and it was all real. She swallowed a lump in her throat when Sero passed the window. The demonic reflection in his eyes was clearly seen, but she remained in the bed. Running away in the state she was in would be futile. In silence, Teru watched as he sat down close and extended a suspicious container to her. It had the appearance of an ordinary canteen, but she was being wary. She was not sure of what was inside. Poison may have tainted the contents. He may have wanted her to drink from it, and she would writhe in pain as the poisons ate away at her life. However, her body was depleted of food and drink. Her throat was dry, and her body cried out for the joys of clean water.

She accepted the offer, and took the canteen into her hands. As hesitant as she was, she drank from it and let the liquid imbue her with a new strength that she had once lost. The water was a precious gift, and she cherished it. Teru sighed in relief and let the canteen rest on her lap, supported by both of her hands. For that, she was incredibly grateful to Sero. Although, she refrained from thanking him just yet. He opened his mouth once more to speak his mind to her, and she listened attentively. Yes?"

That was right, he wanted to question her. Considering his level of superiority over her, it felt more like an interrogation. His words made her think back to the very first trials she faced under his watchful eye. And, then, he mentioned the two girls she fought alongside with. Now that she was thinking clearly, she remembered their faces. One of them was Aozame, a shark-toothed kunoichi from the Hoshigaki clan. Teru closed her eyes a moment and remembered that day they met after Sero's exam. They were... friends. It was so long ago, but that was right. She and Aozame befriended one another after dealing with Sero's test. The other girl, however, was a different story. That girl fled, and Teru had not heard from her again after that. Alive and well, she hoped. It was hard to believe, though, that both of them were unseen. And, it was harder to believe that Sero had not seen either of them with his flawless gaze.

Teru opened her eyes and considered his question deeply. She had also retreated into the shadows to avoid him and the possibility of facing another test. Her eyes narrowed at the thought, and she answered Sero with the sincerest of words. From the beginning, she would start. "I wanted everything to return to the way it was before I met you," she said softly, ashamed of how she was thinking. It was embarrassing to admit to being such a foolish person, but she was ready to redeem herself. "Although, I met with Aozame once and actually accepted the idea of being on a team. I acted on my own after that for a reason I can't explain, not even to myself..." Teru turned her gaze to the shadows ahead, pausing to gather the correct words. "I guess I could consider myself a deserter, but now I'm beginning to see differently. It was an immature move on my part, so I left in search of someone who could keep me from repeating the same mistake. Finding you makes me believe that I'm a survivor. I might not be able to speak for the other two.... but I can speak for myself now. I'd like to avoid being seen as an enemy of yours, and I do apologize for acting in a disgraceful way."

Her head was bowed now, both apologetically and respectfully. "I'll take on test after test if that's what it takes to be forgiven, if I am not already. And, if you would have me, I will act as a loyal subordinate under your wing."

Sero would listed to her words as she drank the water. He wasn't so indirect as to use poison to kill when what he wanted was answers. His eyes seemed to peer through her and see what she would try to hide. He doubted her and so he would listen to her heart beat. It was strong now that she wasn't so weak. She spoke of fleeing him and he used that as the test for any irregularities. She didn't know what became of the other two and so much of this island was too hostile for him to go looking for them. Not all spiders acknowledged him as their king. Their father. Some rebelled and he did not wish as of yet to torment them with acid rains and fog which melted them to nothing. Their mother would not approve. Still he was surprised they had let her be within their territory. The ferry man should of told him of anyone trying to come or go. Any other way off the island along the shore was monitored. The village should send him notice of any figures fleeing. Not that he trusted them to be vigilant nor were he and they on good terms right that moment.

Still she spoke of how she was a deserter. How because she came back she felt herself a survivor. For a moment he felt a sense of something odd. Turmoil in his mind at his reaction. Hidden up his sleeve was a sleek long kunai ready to slit her throat at the confession. The blade sliding down his sleeve into his hand he kept hidden from her. It was the fate of deserters to be given no quarter in Kiri. To slay them and burn the remains. Leave nothing but memory and ashes. However his hand did not fly forth and end her as she continued to speak. She was willing to take his tests and grow if she could. To strain herself and become more. Slowly the blade slipped back up his sleeve and back into its sheath. Not a sound was made that she would detect at the imminence of her own demise but it had occurred. All she may have detected was a kin to the feeling like something hungry looming over her. A starving beast in that moment that wished to consume and consume until nothing was left. The hunger of his blades.

Sero would smile a thin smile as he rose from his seat and seemed to glide to the door. She was only a deserter to his knowledge. The village still considered her a resident. Though unofficially they though perhaps he had eaten her. This gave him multiple opportunities. For him to slay her and lay down yet another report based on his word at this time was simply something he could not afford. Instead the door opened and dim light fell on the room from the hallway. His shadow filling the frame but for a few cracks. He stepped outside and turned. Looking at her mud caked form and spoke in a cold tone. Closing the door when he was finished speaking.

"We will see if you are what you wish to be. Rest tonight and meet me in the morning bathed and dressed. Clothes fitted to you when you were first here are in the drawer. Though it appears you have lost weight they should fit well enough. I will be in the dining hall with me determination."

The door closed and he turned moving down the hall. He of course already knew what he was going to do. However it wasn't something that could immediately be taken into consideration with the storm outside. She would need the cart after all and the large spider with a talent for transforming into a horse. He had a horse once until the spiders grew hungry. It would be up to her to decide her fate in the morning. For now he would go rest himself. Something he was sure his body needed even if he could not feel it.

It was all sinking in now. The painfully still air between her and the superior shinobi suffocated her. Yet, she still sat there alive and practically well. Sero was quiet during and after she had given him her best words concerning her whereabouts and intentions. It was an excuse, however, and she did not doubt that he was a no-nonsense kind of man. The sensation of fear bubbled deep within the pit of her stomach. Perhaps this was the last time she was going to see the light of day. Teru had made one mistake too many, it seemed. She was going to die right there in the bed. The beast was there, and she knew it. Even though her eyes remained in neutral form, she could sense the blood-lust of the beast that would soon devour her in her weakened state. It was a hungry animal, and it was going to have no mercy on Teru Uchiha.

But, the sinister presence suddenly disappeared. Teru's eyes shot up as Sero stood and moved away to exit the room. His movements were silent and light. Sero did not deal the killing blow after hearing her out. He listened, and he let her live again. "We will see if you are what you wish to be. Rest tonight and meet me in the morning bathed and dressed. Clothes fitted to you when you were first here are in the drawer. Though it appears you have lost weight they should fit well enough. I will be in the dining hall with me determination." She listened to him, taking in everything that he had said. It did not seem like he accepted her just yet. So, she was going to have to work hard to prove to this man that she was worthy as something more than a student, but a kunoichi of Kirigakure.

Sero left shortly after giving her instruction, and Teru was alone. She was going to have to work a lot harder when the next day rolled around. It was going to be okay, she thought. In her confession, she vowed to do as he directed. That promise was not going to be broken. Not ever. She agreed to this, and mentally braced herself for what was to come next.

Sniff, sniff.

Teru's nose wrinkled. That adventure she had gone through did a number on her hygiene. Rather than waiting until morning, she was going to hurry to the restroom for a well-deserved bath. Perhaps a second bath would get all of the unbearable mess off of her. There was no way she would sleep as she was now. It was pure luck that she was given a new set of clothes, too. Teru uncovered her legs and gently tossed the blankets to the side. They were still wobbly, but she would make it just fine. She took one step after another, and slowly journeyed through the darkness to get to the door. It would also be a good idea for her to consider doing something with her hair.... The passing months did allow for it to grow in length. She much rather preferred a short style so that it would not get in her way.

Off she was to the relieving bath, and then to the pleasant realm of sleep.
