Such a nice weather this time around. The sun was shining, birds were chirping as they swirled around in the sky and moved synchronized into the same direction. From this high up, Rei had the view that he wanted to have; it was perfect, actually. He was sitting on a tall cliff, right on the edge to take in the scenery on his day off. At the bottom of the cliff, stretching along the left side of the sea, there was a beach. You could see many people enjoying the weather and bathing in both the sunlight and the water to cool themselves off. Rei, however, decided to spend his time just relaxing by himself up here, almost being positive that no one would get it into their minds to walk all the way up here, while all the action is going on at the beach. He inhaled, taking in the fresh air and exhaled shortly after. The wind, which was just the right temperature, crawled up against his skin, beneath his clothes. His white hair swayed from left to right. Closing his eyes, he just wanted to take in the sounds of nature. Because of this, the sounds from the beach were blocked out. Both of Rei’s legs hung off the edge of the cliff, dangling in mid-air and his hands placed on the ground a little behind him to support himself, find his balance and attempting not to fall down from this height. It would certainly be his death. Besides the beach, from this perspective you could see parts of the small coastal towns, as well. He had never seen this part of Kirigakure before and was kind of interested in what more this village had to offer. Although he has already been here for a little while, it seems there are still a lot more things to explore and check out other than the most common places people would come to.

One of the birds that swirled around in the air eventually made a landing, right next to Rei. Surprising. Rei thought that normally birds would just steer away from humans and get scared with every little movement that they made, but it seems that this bird didn’t bother with it, at all. Maybe Rei thought wrong? Birds weren’t scared like that, at all? Rei chuckled a little bit. Looking at it right now, it seems that the bird was taking in the scenery itself, as well. Just standing there next to Rei, even looking into the same direction. Almost as if the bird was his own pet. Slowly but surely, he raised one of his hands, that was used to keep his balance, in order to touch the bird, but it seems Rei thought correctly. The bird flapped its wings and just like that, flew off into the horizon to join up with its friends. This wasn’t what Rei expected and considering one of his hands wasn’t touching the surface anymore, he had trouble keeping his balance. His body swayed a bit, moving closer and closer to the edge of the cliff, even to the point where he balanced himself forward too much that he would be able to look right down at the rocks that covered the surface of the sea beneath. A thought crossed his mind as if he was indeed falling down, snapping out of it at the moment that that ‘vision’ reached the ending sequence, resulting in him making an impact on the pointy edges. As soon as he snapped out of his thoughts, he regained his balance and leant backwards, falling with a thud back on the cliff, on his back. His breathing has gotten a little heavier. It really was a near-death experience. If he had shifted his bodyweight a little differently, it might’ve been over. Trying to calm himself down, he looked up at the blue sky, covered by just a few pure, white clouds that didn’t seem to bring any rain with them. It’s nice like this. That’s what he thought to himself, his arms thrown to their respective sides, just laying wide on the rock surface, still trying to shake off the thought of what just happened.

This world is not deserving of such tranquil beauty. The stones of us, beasts, ripple the calm surface into waves and thus we shall never know peace. Nor morbid nor cynical, simply a daunting truth. However, she wondered as her crystalline eyes skirted to and fro edges at the welcoming scenery, do they know? Do they know of the danger brewing at their borders? From within? This land had seen many hardships and will continue to do so no matter how strong it may have been. War is all it will know. War is all the people will know. Time and time again someone threatens their livelihoods, their homes, family and friends will be lost but perhaps not. Perhaps if negotiations fall through and a certain kage learns to keep his temper in check, this will all turn to a huge misunderstanding and they can all go home. Otherwise she surmised as sea salt tickled her nose as she walked, blood will soak this sand.

Of course who was she to care when she had herself to worry about? True as it may be that she has pledged to lay her life on the line to protect Akira and his interests but it was all a matter of playing her cards right. In the event of full scale war, Kumo stood no chance against Kiri, their chances even slimmer with Iwa's alliance with them. Both nations played to the other's strength. Iwa's technology and specialist and Kiri's military power and location. Kumo had at one point plenty of pawns to use but in recent years those numbers dwindled. There was no loyalty or comrade among the people. The recent defection of the Raikage's prized pupil was truth to that statement although she still had to gather evidence to support her claim but a sound claim it was.

As she plotted how to gain the evidence she needed, a small pubescent body bumped into her side. Looking down to her side she sees a young child holding a beach ball. It was about to apologize but felt weirder out by the ominous glow of her eyes and the dark circles around them. After whimpering out an apology he ran off back to his family, his mother held him as she comforted him and glare at Jet. Rolling her eyes she walked away pinching the bridge of her nose and opted to go somewhere more private so she wandered. Wandered around she followed a trail of stones and the crash of the waves. Seagulls cawed and dived towards the water, swiping up unaware prey that flew under the tide. Higher and higher she got until she reached a grievous edge. It seemed she arrived in the nick of time. A young lad with hair as white as snow as dangerously close to the edge and, her breath caught itself as he almost fell. Her hand stretched out to help him, kami forbid someone thought she was responsible if he fell to his death! That was not what she needed- oh no he was okay. Carefully and with the luck of a god, the lad managed to get himself back to safety, breathing heavily as he came close to death. Relieved and humored she chuckled "Perhaps it would be wiser to back away no?"

On the background of his heavy breathing, still attempting to catch his breath because of what just happened, there was an unfamiliar voice. A voice that he couldn’t put into place, one that he hadn’t heard before. The voice kind of pointed out the obvious. It was indeed smarter to pull himself away from the edge to prevent that kind of thing from happening once again. But even so, Rei couldn’t help but crack a smile and chuckle once the strange voice mentioned that. Without opening his eyes, the only thing that he could determine about the voice is that it was a female, but he was certain that he didn’t know the individual. To see who he was confronted by, he tilted his head a little and shifted his pure blue eyes over to her direction. Indeed a female, though a stranger in his eyes. His smile still across his lips, he used both of his hands to push himself off the ground into a sitting position, then once again used his hands to swirl himself around so that he would face the girl, though still sitting on the cliff, almost near the edge. “You’re right about that, though.” He mentioned in the process of picking himself off the ground and dusting off his clothes. His jacket and pants both had layers of dirt across them, but Rei wasn’t the kind of person to care about his clothing all that much. In fact, if he did then he shouldn’t have become a Shinobi. They’re bound to get their clothes dirty every day. Once he stood up from the ground and dusted off his clothes, he stretched out. His body had gotten a little stiff from sitting one position too long, not to mention tensing up from almost falling to his death. Shrugging off that thought and not lingering on it any longer, he turned his interest over to the girl now standing in front of him.

The things that stood out the most about the girl was her hair and eye color. Rei and the girl’s hair color were about the same. The only difference being was that the girl had a more silver tinted color to it, whereas Rei had his hair color more resembling snow white. Onto her eye color; it was actually breathtaking. Rei found that the brighter the eye color, the more amazing they came across. Their eye color resembled a little bit as well, though he realized that her eye color was probably brighter than his own. His eyes shifted from left to right to scan every bit of the girl, only seeing slow hints of scars, but shrugged it off. He didn’t see it clearly, nor was he in the position to ask the girl if they were actually scars or not. They weren’t even acquainted yet, so those kind of questions weren’t respectful. They would be brought up later. With the genuine smile still covering his lips, he pointed his index finger towards himself, ready to introduce himself. “The name’s Yuki, Rei.” He began, briefly introducing himself by just giving him name off the start. The surname might’ve given away the bloodline he possessed, but it wasn’t a secret at all. In fact, he was kind of proud to be from the bloodline that he is. “How did you like my save just now?” He spoke, grinning slightly, almost as if pretending that that was all part of his plan all along, but some people might easily be able to tell off his expression that he was just messing around. “You came here to get away from it all for a change, as well?” At least, Rei did have that purpose to come here. It was quiet and peaceful, though he didn’t mind making room for one more person. After all, it seems that they both got here for the same reason, if Rei isn’t mistaken, that is. You heard the faint sound of the waves crashing down on the rocks beneath the cliff and people splashing in the water, but not enough to let Rei be bothered by it. In fact, it did come with a certain feeling of serenity. Not only did he show it by his behavior, but he actually hoped the girl would stick around and keep him company.

When the lad managed to get himself situated and give a full front view of him, she was able to examine him closely. Her observation made her slight weary yet amused. The first person, real person, merchants and village guards didn't count, she met in the Hidden Mist was someone who looked close enough to her that they could be mistakenly related although that argument would be null as she was born with bright green hair and matching eyes. It's a pity. She tries to be unique when she did her wardrobe change and there is already someone who looks like her and was natural to boot as the texture and color of those hair and eyes could not be achieved through dye and modification. Then as the man introduced himself gears clicked into her head and she found herself not only fortunate but curious. Her curiosity may have damped a bit as she realize she would not have the opportunity to examine him on a more intimate level. The thought made her heart heavy with disappointment. She was in a village of some of the most spectacular specimen in the world, and she couldn't have her fun with them because of their supposed alliance with Kiri. She almost wished that she were aiding kumo in the conflict so that she may be free to do as she wish. All these specimen, ripe for the picking, and she could only observe them from a distance. Smile and wave but not touch. But...she wondered, could the same rule apply to them? Did it apply to kiri nin who found their way to her of their own, unbiased, leisure? With a small smile from her pale pink lips she gave off an air of amusement and intrigue; bowing her head a bit in greeting."It's our pleasure to meet you Yuki. Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are Jet"

A jovial lad, untainted by darkness...how it vexed her. Rei was kind and personable, a joy to be around and it made her stomach flip in disgust as the vicious green beast reared it ugly head in envy. He was so nonchalant. Or was she too discriminating. So unguarded. Or was she caged between her own walls. All the roads lead the same batter, the destination nothing new only the same. She could not find it in her heart to fault Rei only how carefree he was and how she was too high strung. Blinking once and twice she shook her head smirking as she gazed upon him with lazily narrow eyes as if Jet caught him red handed; his lie in the act"If you were more flexible and turned your hip better you would have achieved a better outcome. Of course this all could have been avoided no? Unless perhaps we walked in on something we should not have?"

Although she felt her heart strung, the burden ebbed off her in moment as she recalled what was plaguing her thoughts prior to this meeting and only now realized how far she wandered while lost in thought. Now more aware of her surrounding she gave the area a look over once more "Perhaps. However this" She paused then waved her wand gesturing to their surroundings of frigid stone and crisp sand that crashed in a furious yet melodic battle against the waves "was not what we planned for. Beautiful scenery however, as if straight out of a postcard. A timeless beauty however not one we would frequent ourselves. We can only assume different for you?

Judging her already, even though they had just met, he could tell that she was a polite person. She bowed politely before she introduced herself, though her way of speaking was what pretty much interested Rei from the start. “We”? He thought to himself. She talked about herself as if she was two individuals in one, but was that actually the case? The thought wandered through his mind for a while, witnessing as she examined him closely. Their traits; they did seem alike, indeed. Though Rei’s hair and eye color were natural, he actually wanted to know if that counts for the girl as well, since if not, this would really be a rare event, indeed. Looking at the smile that crossed her pink lips, he could tell that he wasn’t the only one intrigued by this meeting. “Likewise, Jet.” He put as a response, the smile still crossing his lips as if it would never fade. With weather like this and peaceful sounds all around, he couldn’t help but keep that smile going, possibly creating a more comfortable atmosphere for the girl in front of him, as well. She smirked and shook her head, gazing upon Rei as if he did something.. unappropriate. Just like herself, Rei blinked once or twice as well, listening to her give some.. advice, and ending it with something that sounded like an accusation. The way she put it, there was actually only one thing that Rei could think of, but didn’t really have the heart to put it into words. He didn’t let it get to him, however. He shoved both of his hands into his pocket, letting out a chuckle himself, showing that he does appreciate the sense of humor. Rei wasn’t shaken up by it, however. He even decided to play into it for a bit.

Well, naturally I thought I’d be alone out here in the middle of nowhere, but you walked up to me from behind, so.. I got caught by surprise.” He mentioned, raising one of his hands out of his pocket and rubbing the back of his head, smirking like there’s no tomorrow. He knew that he didn’t do what she probably thought he did; or joking thought he did, but what’s the harm in playing along for a little bit? This does cause some amusement, to say the least. And Rei didn’t mind it at all, no matter the subject. “I’m guessing the scenery just did it for me.. How amazing it is.” He jokingly continued. “Though, you seem surprisingly calm for someone who thought I was doing something inappropriate.” He deflected it back at her. You could say that Rei wasn’t entirely sure they were talking about the same thing, but the only way to figure it out was to head into the conversation without hesitation. She waved something around, gesturing towards her surroundings. It was the first time he caught wind of it, but the female, Jet, was wielding some kind of wand which she waved from left to right, pointing out the scenery. Was not what “we” planned for? Again talking like she’s two individuals. It didn’t bug him, but more peaked his curiosity, as it’s the human’s strongest type of emotion. He couldn’t help himself but bring it up the next time he spoke. Rei nodded, looking back over his shoulder, into the direction of the edge of the cliff. The beauty of the world; it was something that Rei wanted to experience firsthand, especially after the horror he’s been going through. But judging from the scars the female had herself, he figured he wasn’t the only one that had it rough. He turned around completely, raising both of his arms stretched out, each to one side, as if embracing the world itself. “You’re right about that, Jet.” He began. “Places like this are places I often visit, if not all the time. It’s because the sensation I get is freedom. ‘tis a warm feeling, not just my skin bathing in the sunlight.” He paused for a moment, feeling the light breeze crawl up against his skin while his hair fluttered along with it. His blue eyes watched the currents of the seas, clashing up against the rocks while the reflection of the people and some of the trees surrounding it reflected on the surface of the water, sparkling with the effect of the sunlight shining down upon it. Rei shifted his eyes and eyed Jet, looking back over his shoulder. The smile was back. He didn’t move and his arms remained stretched. “Don’t you ever have it? Not even once?” He asked her, though not really pointing out what he meant with it until a few seconds later. “..The taste of freedom.” He finished what he wanted to say. After that final word, the only thing that else could be heard were the birds chirping and circling above their heads, as if looking for their prey to hunt. Rei’s blue eyes never stopped fixating on Jet and only after a little while, he turned back around to face her. His eyes, just like hers, narrowed, though carried along a gentle vibe.

"Alone? You thought you were alone. The fact you reacted so poorly further backs up our claim" She chuckled once more, her voice like bells however empty; she was both amused and tired at him. His joking manner reminded her of folk she rather not name, nor remember. All of them were filled with regret and forced her into disarray. The kind that made it seemed she had not changed. Her masks all blended into her that after looking into the mirror she could no longer identify herself. Walking like a puppet she was a marionette dancing, dancing in circles in her shoes dyed red in this dance with death. Her strings were heavy chains of agony that weighed her down closer to hell with all her sins. The last thing this woman was is calm. The last thing she was safe, not only from foes of past and present day but her own inner demons. So she laughed. She laughed as if she faced no inner turmoil. She laughed as if she were sane. She laughed as if she simply were normal. A stranger to hardship like the snowflake before her. Her mind wasn't depriving her of sleep and peace. She was just a girl, just as he were a boy. She further hid herself behind a mask free from cracks. "Well if you could have heard our heart skip a beat you'd see we aren't. Seeing as you lost yourself so easily makes it seemed much more intimate than it needed to be. Does this place reminded you of a friend?" She paused for a second as her lids became heavy and her eyes glowed in a sultry light full of mirth. Her lips curved with a single fang exposed teasing the snowflake as if she found out a dark secret. "Perhaps a lover?"

Her grin grew as she pushed herself of the bark of the tree and walked closer to the snowflake, her hands behind her back and back bent as she lowered herself to get a good look at him, disregarding something as trivial as personal space before she turned on her heel away from him and glanced back at him "Why do you desire freedom? You must have more than enough of it? Or perhaps the life of a shinobi requires too much of your precious time?" Her voice never wavered nor cracked. Nor was it resigned. Simply curious and teasing but without conviction. As if there were no warmth behind her words or a drum beating in her bosom. Often she were asked and asked herself this questions. Those who sought her guidance asked her in moments of weakness. No matter how large the herd or how strong the pack, there was always a weak link. A herbivore. It needed sought help at every turn and lived off the kindness of others, using them like a crutch day to day. They needed constant reassurance that everything was fine, that they were fine, that everything would be okay and it was all worth it. But as unfortunate it is, for them that is, they eventually snap, no longer able to cope off idle words and propaganda. The missions would strip them of their sense of self. The blood would stain their skins. They cannot dream, but remember the screams of victims not enemies. If everyone who did not conform to you and the villages ideas this entire world would burn. So it was all a matter of time. Like a weapon they will rust away from age and weaken from constant abuse no matter how hard its polished, nothing can mend a broken soul. Their entire world would become gray. All the colors in the wind, the ones that lit up the sun or gave life to the earth, the ones that gave an identity would bleed away to leave a canvas that was empty. Turning different shades of gray. Everything would be gray, their face, their hair, their breath, their dreams. It would get to the point if they saw color they wouldn't know what it means. Soon enough their world would be breaking in the seams until the last bit of sanity would no longer be seen. Perhaps by then they could break away. After all not everyone was meant for this job; this life style. Good thing she was a carnivore. She shed herself of her weakness a long time ago and basked in the blood turning her soul black as it could be.

So she decided to not answer with an answer but a question of her own."Outside your walls what do you see? What do you see out your village? We aren't talking about something so tangible as borders or stone walls but the past the prison bars. Past the disillusionment it provides?" Her voice became noticeably cooler like ice. Something this snowflake should be familiar. It was darker, somber and grainy. As it the texture was so uncomfortable and irritating to soft skin unlike her leather, worn down by various scars and wounds that melded into her skin as if they were meant to be there. Her eyes lost a bit of life of to them and became hardened, the kind that saw harsh done and done worse to others, like veterans of war. But carefully it was hidden by dainty lidded eyes and a smile. A smile that welcomed others who felt pain just as she did and frighten naive children who still haven't felt the sting of loss and betrayal. It was these moments that reminded others she were not a child no more. She hasn't been for quite some time. Innocence was a luxury she never hand. Her time in the troupe only furthered that notion. Both in mind. And as she placed her hand on her lower abdomen where her womb was, in body as well before that hand fell into her pocket as she leaned back onto the tree once more.

She got him right there. He misspoke and actually further backed up her assumption from before. A complete miscalculation on his part. Although he was positive himself that he wasn’t doing what this girl probably thought he was doing, he had the urge to continue and prove her wrong, but that would only further complicate things for himself and put himself in a completely bad light, right off the bat. The last thing Rei needs is to shun a person away, only having good intentions, himself. For some reason, he couldn’t help but feel the two were similar, only wasn’t sure that Jet felt that, as well. For some reason, he had a feeling where this was headed and only confirmed his own assumptions by the next words that slipped through her lips, which were curved with a bare fang showing, almost blinking in the sunlight revealing it, as a sign that she was actually teasing him. ”Perhaps a lover?” He blinked at the thought, letting out a chuckle himself, partially reminding him of the past he had. Lover? There have just been a few occasions where Rei thought about that sort of thing, but having been in lockdown more than half of his life, he never had the chance to explore that experience. All this time, since the time of his so-called ‘freedom’, he had been busy building up his life, leaving every little bit of detail from his past behind him and create a new future for himself by only keeping your head held high and moving forward. He didn’t let his background affect his personality and in fact used it as an experience that made him stronger than he was before. At least during the difficult times, he honed his mind and the mining honed his body.

There’s never been a thing such as a lover in my life.” He spoke, slightly shaking his head as an addition to the response. His attitude slightly showed a bit of regret, though that was quickly shrugged off and not dwell on it for the moment. Because at this moment he was interested in getting to know the person before him. She intrigued him. “There may have been a friend that crossed my mind for a brief moment.” The smile still remained on his lips. Although that best friend of his had never once in his life had seen the broad daylight, Rei has grown wiser over the years and knows better than to cling to the past. He needs to not throw away his life, yet live it to the fullest for both of their sakes. Obtaining freedom. That friend of his was only being holed up in that isolated hell, one person after another dropping dead to the ground from exhaustion, only praying that they wouldn’t be next to succumb to their torture. Rei didn’t, that friend of his however, although still in his mind, he’s not here physically anymore.

Noticing her grin widened as she pushed herself off the bark of the tree and moved outside of the tree’s shadow zone, closer and closer towards Rei. Her hands were hidden behind her back as she leaned in, as if scanning Rei from top to toe. This was, however, the perfect opportunity for Rei to check out her features, as well. He blinked, his eyes moving from the bottom, slowly making their way upwards, stopping once he fixated his blue eyes with hers. Their eyes didn’t match for long, however, once Jet turned around, though glanced back over her shoulder. Rei his blue eyes moved away from her being for just a few seconds, as if remembering something that probably shouldn’t faze him at all. Regaining his composure, his eyes beaming with the confidence that he usually has, he revealed to her just a little bit of his background. Still hesitant on the entire subject, hopefully the feeling that they’re similar was correct. “Doesn’t a slave always desire freedom?” He mentioned something so short and simple, yet those words said enough, for now at least. “Even now that I’ve.. escaped, this world still doesn’t offer one the ultimate form of freedom.” He laughed off the thought almost immediately. It was a rather immature thing to think about. “Of course, the ultimate freedom would come with the price of chaos. If everyone gained such a freedom, they would lose control as well as lose sight of what’s important.” He paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to explain it better, actually almost being able to hear his brain crack, grinding together any possible set of words that fits it best. “I expected upon my escape that I’d obtain the freedom I so much desired. But it turns out, in a world like this, you still have priorities. Needs. Expectations to live up to. Goals to strive for. Shinobi or civilian, everyone encounters these problems and deal with them accordingly. I’ll deal with it my own way and create a life for me and those like me, where freedom isn’t just a word.

He hasn’t talked like that in a long time, explaining something so thoroughly, almost being certain that he didn’t explain it properly even after all that hurting of his brain trying to make it simple for Jet to understand. She might think that Rei’s a bit confused himself and blabbering on about what appears to be just a childish dream that could never even begin to flourish. He didn’t expect Jet to be the talkative type, but she sure didn’t make this conversation boring. In some way, it relieved him to meet a person such as herself. What he sees outside of his village, she asks. There are many possible answers to that question, but there’s only one answer that suits Rei more than any answer in the world. “The sensation you get from standing outside your village walls and not even being near the village. Stand in a field one day, emerald green grass covering the ground and only surrounded by trees and the wind crawling up your skin. Take a deep breath, clear your mind. Forget about everything that has happened and is happening in your life for a change. You’re breathing in the very thing that I desire, though it’s blocked by the conditioning humans have taught themselves. Humanity itself has pretty much shunned itself away from the outside walls and build walls to separate each other. I’m pretty sure that, in the beginning of time, there were no villages. Only.. Freedom?” He ended his answer with a question mark himself, to show that Jet could decide for herself whether or not to agree with his answer. Despite what she might think, the smile on his lips were saying more than words could say. He genuinely believed that one day, freedom would embrace him and those around him. A cheesy way of saying it, but difficult to describe it any other way. “Tell me that you don’t want to feel that sensation one time.” He grinned and narrowed his eyes just slightly before turning around, facing the open area, the stretched out beach reaching til far into the horizon. As an example, he took a deep breath, puffing up his chest before releasing it slowly, bit by bit. It almost felt like the fresh air itself was cleaning out his lungs.

Why do humans desire things that they shouldn't have? Why do the prose the side of a sleeping beasts, glowing green smoke flaring out its enraged nostrils, its sleek glimmering obsidian skin tempting them, luring them into a false security it were harmless while both parties knew better yet the other never chased after them, humans did. The beast laid dormant, asleep, awaiting for the skies to turn dark after being washed out by the murky air of ghastly breath. It waited for years or seconds, time hardly a cage but rather a broken frame, there was no way to hold it in and it all but slipped through the cracks. So why? Why did humans desire it so? Why were humans. . .so dreadful, pathetically, unapologetic ally. . .evil? No other specie caused so much havoc, ripping babes from their homes and feasting upon their fathers' flesh while using their mother's bosom as a exotic spreadsheet of the highest quality as the poachers would say running amok and stripping the world of color, its life, it's essence. It seemed the more humanity grew, the more putrid their existence became. Stones flew into the air and ripped through mountains, overturned seas, and forced fire to spew on the surface world, letting ashes burn on them not nearly as gentle as men. Slowly and slowly the hands of time turned but not so much more. It simply ticked and tocked, droning on and on faster than one could comprehend. So why? Why were humans so eager to destroy it all? Were they so confident that they would not be harmed? Their intelligence far exceeded the lesser beings so they refused to fall. How. . .pitiful, yet why cannot one feel pity for them. The more pain they caused, the sooner they would become worst than the beast.

It seemed she were not the only one touched by the devil's hand, held to its charcoal bosom, lulled into insanity while it reptilian tongue slid down its neck leaving it dependent on them for air, oxygen that would fuel the flames of war. Yet why were he not the same? If what he say were true and not a play on words, to trick her, why did he accept his past and move on...

Just as she were to speak, a burning fire in her, her mind crazed wanting to rip out his throat for daring to fool her, she was stopped. Just as she flashed in front on the boy in a blur ready to claw out his jugular with her bare hand, a subtle beat stopped her and made her stomach dropped before she decided to flash behind Rei. As if her feet could give out at a moment's notice she was too close to the edge. It seemed no matter where she was she would've rid herself of that pest. Sighing she breathed out slowly and shallowly, the sea breeze caressing her cheek as if to soothe that pain in her heart as she regain herself before she uttered out four words, words that held much more weight than she can help bare "There is no freedom"

From the conversation they had, he still hadn’t figured out much information about Jet. She did seem to value freedom, but did not believe it to be around anywhere. Although, that was just from Rei’s perspective. With his normal carefree expression, he just gazed into her direction. What he told her was the truth. It’s how he, personally, felt, but it would only be up to Jet to feel the same way. There is no freedom? Genuinely, her words confused her. Compared to the past that he has outlived so far, the past where he was enslaved, tortured and kept from the vitamin D the sun provides, what he has right now is definitely something. It’s not the ultimate freedom he so much desires, but being out in the sun, alive and kicking right now, it’s definitely some kind of form of freedom, although limited. If he had to put it in his own words.. If there was hell on Earth, it would be that place. It’s not that he didn’t want to tell Jet what he’s been through, it’s more that he didn’t want to pull her into all of the crap he’s gone through, at least, not at a time like this. Although the conversation took somewhat of a strange turn, resulting in Jet claiming that there’s no freedom, Rei actually believed otherwise.

This is where Rei perhaps believed they were the opposite; one accepting the past while, although unknowing as to what Jet’s past is, the other clings to the past. It made Rei feel it all the stronger that he needed to change the mind of Jet and convince her that there is freedom, although not directly within our grasp. A freedom an individual can create by themselves, with their own hands, rather than relying on another and waiting for it to happen. That’s not how things work in a world like this. If you desire power, claim it. If you desire wealth, claim it. If you desire freedom.. Before he could finish that sentence in his mind, images flashed before him of the past, the moment where he broke free and covered those slavers under the avalanche he crashed down upon them, only him remaining standing on the thick, cold layer or snow and ice beneath him. …Claim it. The images stopped and the sentence was finished. He did indeed claim his own freedom.. At least, part of it. He wasn’t done yet; there were greater heights to reach. A long future ahead of him. His blue eyes showed that he snapped out of his thoughts, despite what she said, her smile remained on his lips. He was unfazed. He continued believing. It was set in stone. He’s going to show Jet that she’s wrong. That there is freedom. That there’s a future. For the both of them, whatever their background.

…Claim it.” He voiced the two words earlier which he continued repeating in his mind just a few seconds ago. Just those two words might’ve sounded vague to Jet, but to clear everything up, Rei figured he’d elaborate himself a little bit more. “Your freedom. Claim it.” His eyes, although the smile was still on his lips, shown more confidence and seriousness than his carefree expression from before. He wanted to show that he wasn’t kidding, at all. Only if Jet realized this, it would make it all the more easier. He wouldn’t blame her if it took him time, however. But he had nowhere else to be. Wings flapped in the distance, crossing the blue sky above them and slowly lowered altitude to get near them. It was a message pigeon, a scroll attached to its feet. Turning around slightly, he put out his arm for the pigeon to land on, and so he did. Flapping its wings a few more times, Rei removed the scroll from the feet and sent the pigeon back on its way. It was a tiny scroll, but it contained just enough information for them to get a clear explanation from it. Opening it, he scanned the contents with his eyes, shifting along the sentences. It was a call out for a mission. Oddly enough, both Rei and Jet’s names had been listed. Little did they know, they had already been acquainted. A mission like this would be no problem for the two of them. In fact, this would just work in Rei’s favor to lead on Jet and change her perspective on what the definition of freedom is. As a sign, he walked over to Jet, just a little before the tip of their shoes met, showing the scroll with its contents shown. “Coincidence, isn’t it?” He smirked, moving past Jet, his eyes moving along hers as he did. He stopped for a moment, looking back. “Are you ready, Jet?” He questioned her, patiently awaiting her response. If she’d agree, he’d walk with her towards their mission location.

Claim it. My freedom. Our freedom. Claim it. That is what he says. He says to claim it! Claim it! Haughty voices laughed and screened at this ridiculous spectacle. The lad is mocking us they whispered. Fooling us. Trying to play tricks and pull the wool over our eyes. What? Did he think we were born yesterday? Please child you not nothing, absolutely nothing, about suffering.Jet let out a belly deep barking laughing that pieced together a vibrant red hue on her cold pale cheeks. Her lips morphed into a vicious grinned and her voice smothered the warmth it once contained making it lower and melodic, almost tantalizing, and hypnotizing."You claim to know what slavery is yet you were so willing to return to it. Time in chains is the same in these ranks. Shinobi and civilian are plagued by the same disease and scarred the same wounds. Both parties answer to a higher being and scrambled to achieve any recognition of their existence"

All the while she edged closer and closer to Rei,her eyes focused solely on him yet looking past it. For a second, a mere second it soften in recognition and remorse but those were forgotten. Just like her past self when she began anew she would forget it, her weaker self and move on. But she will carry a piece of it in her heart as a reminder of what not to be, to not be weak,"Come now then, if you speak so highly. Show us what freedom is if there is any of it at all. Show us how you live" But as she caressed her smooth pale hand across his frozen cheek, gliding it down his chin and picking it up in the air she let it go and stepped back twirling around as her voice grew darker, and sinister a peak of her uglier truer self."Hehehe, you can't can you hm? How could you afterall? Perhaps now you see my words speak true as a philosopher's fact. Freedom may be in the air that we breathe but the price we pay for it. . .Is it worth it?"

"How many families have you torn apart? How many women have you seen raped? Children cut open and sold for spare parts? Men with broken will turn to savage demons"

"How many bodies have you cut down? Have many lives did you take? How many have you buried? How many sins will it take before you become a monster like them?"

"We believe in neither coincidence nor fate, just the strings binding us to this plane of existence. But let us move forward no? Let's us move forward! We got work to do don't we Yuki?"
