~Strength Training~

The lanky man cautiously skirted through Konoha's forested training grounds, his blank eyes darting about in a continuous scan for any sign of a potential threat. Odd had developed this habit as a natural method of protection; a survival instinct adapted over years of serial murder and other activities often frowned upon by civilized society. Under the cover of darkness, shrouded in the pitch black of the night, Odd felt most secure outside the protective walls of his home. A single kunai and three shuriken located in the pouch sitting upon his left hip, Odd was especially prepared for any sudden onslaught.

Odd only trained at this time of night, and only in this location, where the treetops smothered the light of the moon, enabling the perfect darkness which concealed the young genin. Sufficiently hidden, Odd commenced in his training. The young man's skinny limbs did not yield much power, and thus he saw it fit to implement some new methods of strength training into his nightly regimen. Beginning, Odd dropped to the ground, supporting the entirety of his body and weight on his two pale palms, and straightening his back and legs like planks. With a few painful bends, Odd lowered his body, and raised it back up, supporting his own full weight. After fifteen of these push-ups Odd grew tired; he had never focused on strength training. Alas, while Odd did not necessarily like training his strength, he realized the necessity of doing so, and resolved to practice similar methods each night. Fatigued by the brief exercise, Odd crept home once more.

The following night, at the same time, lurking beneath the same darkness, Odd slithered out of whatever dank crevice he called his home once more. Deftly navigating the oppressive blackness of the night, Odd made his way to the same training spot, which he knew would be completely vacant at this time of night. A few minutes of stretching and simple warmups preceded the actual content of Odd's training, for he had to enter with limber muscles as to prevent injury and such. When his muscles felt sufficiently loose and stretched, Odd dropped back to his palms and began with his regimen of push-ups. Of course, with the passing of but a mere day, these did not feel any easier to perform than they had the day before. The weak young man struggled to hold himself up as he eked out the series of fifteen push-ups. His arms trembled under the weight, and felt as if they might give out at any second, causing the one to whom they were attached to painfully face-plant. Thankfully, gritting his teeth and breathing heavily, Odd managed to maintain form for all fifteen of his push-ups. Upon rising out of his fifteenth dip downwards, Odd was filled with some sense of rugged determination, and growled as he resolved to perform a single additional push-up. What would it say about his resolve, his determination, and his overall progress if he could not even perform one more push-up after a whole day? The sweat rolling down his face, stinging his eyes as it seeped into them, Odd slowly sunk downwards once more, though maintaining his flawless form all the while. This movement was quite slow, as to avoid collapsing, and his arms protested with every fiber of their compositions. Though, Odd bit the bullet, and he ferociously bore the pain and discomfort. Rising out of his final push-up, Odd felt an immense sense of triumph that made the entire process worth it. Seeing that he could push himself to achieve that final push-up, regardless of the pain it entailed, Odd felt as if he could push himself to do anything. If he kept on this track of steady improvement, he would be buff in no time. Feeling a satisfied sense of fatigue and drowsiness, Odd, quite proud of himself, somehow managed to bring himself back onto his feet. A strange grin on his face, he set off into the night, heading for the dark recess he inhabited somewhere.

Over the next few weeks, Odd rigidly adhered to this strength training routine, continuing to steadily push himself further and further, and forcing himself to perform one additional push-up each night. At the end of two weeks, Odd was doing thirty push-ups in a row as if it were nothing, and as time went on, he even began to do multiple sets of these reps. Though he did not build bulky muscle, his musculature certainly increased in mass, but in the form of very compact and wiry muscle, which stretched itself around his bones, keeping its strength, but leaving Odd with only a slightly fuller, yet still apparently skinny figure. He preferred this look to the bulky gorilla look anyway.

~Endurance Training~

It had been quite some time since Odd had taken a hit. The memory of being assaulted was but a fleeting image in his mind. Reflecting upon his thus far brief shinobi career, Odd noticed that the times when an opponent had gotten so much as a scratch in were few and far between. Now, perhaps this was more due to the fact that Odd tended to play it safe, intentionally fighting those whom he knew he could beat, as to save himself from the humiliation of defeat. Odd, being a very careful and calculating individual, rarely placed himself in situations in which he might incur damage or injury of any sort; such caution was only logical. Though, being subject to beatings and heated combat certainly came with the advantage of fortitude. Naturally, one used to rolling with punches and taking damage from being hit would grow to suffer from less severe injuries in combat than those with no experience in rolling with the punches.

Seeing that Odd had no experience with taking hits, he resolved that he had to improve in this respect, for otherwise he would be in for quite a rude awakening when it came time to fight a truly skilled opponent. The naturally frail genin had already worked tirelessly to improve his strength, and had even managed to put some lean meat on his bones, but, though he was stronger now, his frailty still reflected in his fragile composition and delicate body. Odd often noticed that his skin bruised easily, and that even slight bumps against furniture or everyday objects caused large black and blue welts. Perhaps this was due to his haemophilia, a chronic disease which prevented his blood from clotting, but Odd doubted so. The true danger of his haemophilia lay in his thin blood, which, if Odd were cut, would gush outwards unstoppably until Odd die. As such, the young man had to be very careful in fights, and even more so around anything sharp, which made the shinobi life a difficult one. Perhaps this was one of the main factors determining why Odd was so hesitant towards heated combat. Nevertheless, despite his flawed blood, a sturdy frame for his body would provide him with extra resistance in combat.

Odd knew that no man could dodge attacks forever, and that one day he would have to face this truth and learn to take a hit. As such, Odd set out in search of a way he could gain actual combat experience, and improve his endurance and fortitude. Now, obviously, he was not going to just walk around asking people to beat the living daylights out of him, but, rather, he needed to find some true battle opportunities against individuals whom he knew could match his prowess. So, in the evening, Odd set out in search of some sort of club or organization on which he could spar against other people and train his ability to both inflict and incur damage.

After a couple hours of searching, as the sky grew black in the later hours of the night, the genin finally stumbled upon a stable environment in which he could safely spar other individuals. The place was a square brick building with a large boxing glove logo adorning the front; it was clearly some sort of boxing arena or martial arts studio. Odd entered through the glass doors, observing the multiple rings and the large amount of people inside. It became clear to him that this was more of a nighttime business. Two older men stood in stances in a ring in the leftmost corner of the room, beating the living shit out of each other. Each man was sweating heavily, and was covered in black and blue welts; one man even bled from a few of his wounds. This was a place where shinobi came to test their skill against one another after hours, but Odd would probably wind up dead if he dared to go up against a higher-ranking shinobi, and thus he resolved to seek out an opponent of his own rank.

After a bit of asking around, Odd managed to find a genin-level shinobi of around his age, but with much more mass. He was not fat, but he had a thick, sturdy build, and while his muscles were not clearly visible, and he was not "ripped" per se, he was certainly larger and stronger than Odd, and thus would make a good opponent in the fight to come. The man graciously accepted Odd's offer to spar, and the two of them duked it out in the ring. Both got beat up pretty badly, and Odd certainly gained some experience being hit. Thankfully, none of the man's strikes broke his skin, so Odd didn't die or anything. The genin continued attending this gym for quite awhile, until he felt that his overall constitution had improved significantly.
