S-rank
The seven swordsman of Kirigakure, are legendary weapons masters who are each granted one of these new bladed relics, each of which are known far and wide for both their power, and their difficulty to wield. To become a member of the Seven Swordsman is the highest honour the Mizukage is able to bestow upon ninja of Kirigakure.
Each of the ninja given one of these blades become an Honorary member of the land of waves, becoming protected by its edicts and its boarders, this means that a ninja who is a part of another village becomes entwined in an interesting position between two villages, while non Kiri criminals and Ronin become bound to Kirigakure by both honour and Duty.
Though the swordsman are powerful ninja in their own right, their duty is more the safety and the village and the country, rather than the word of the Mizukage herself. The Seven Swordsman are in fact, in such a trusted position that the Mizukage often holds their council on par with the villages Sanin in importance.
These swordsman are the Elite of the Elite, and though many of them hold the rank of Jounin or even Sanin, they stand apart as the most powerful members in Kirigakure, and by attaining the weapons they wield, their names are etched in the annals of time and are never forgotten.
The Seven Swords
- #1 Sesho Sekki:
Name: Sessho Sekki (Ishi o Korosu 石を殺す- Killing stone)
Type Of Weapon: Lance/ Straight Sword
Rank: SS (Legendary)
Elemental Alignment: N/A
Ability/Function: (Requires Sojutsu)
The blade though thick and cumbersome, bears two helix coiled blades which, at the cost of -10 chakra per turn are able to rotate rapidly. Wounds caused by this spinning edge are wide, literally turning what substances impact with the side into a fine mist or dust with little effort, able to knock even a blocking opponent back a meter with the spin force while barely slowing the blade down...
However the weapon's core function lies at its tip, with -20 additional chakra, the drill is able to launch a single powerful strike per turn, its spin powerful enough, that anything penetrated through by the tip is shredded outward into nothing by the violent vortex surrounding the weapon, creating a perfect tunnel like hole expanding 2m in every direction. This force is able to be used defensively against A rank and lower jutsu and people alike to devastating effect. Even missing the tip and being caught in the vortex is capable of delivering multiple 4" deep cuts to effected areas, internal bruising and throwing a person up to 5 meters away with violent force.
Appearance: see image.
History: Sessho Sekki is the first of the Remade Legendary seven swords of Kirigakure, and is considered a child mixed between a lance and a blade. Myth surrounding the blade tells of a Wandering Ronin who wandered the forests of the country searching for a safe place to rest, managing to stray into hostile territory with his bride to be. Attacked by a fierce demon, the former Samurai drew his blade and fought the beast with all of his might to protect his beloved wife. Though honorable and a skilled a warrior, the Samurais blade had no magic with which to harm the foul demon no matter the hundreds of wounds he delivered, and eventually, the blade was snapped from its handle.
Though his wife deep within held a secret, and moments before the death of her beloved husband, the woman transformed, and a powerful array of chakra struck the unsuspecting demon dead, vanquished before the eyes of the Samurai. In place of the samurai's bride stood instead a beautiful fox spirit... Convinced the spirit a trickster having deceived him with mortal love attempting to lead him to his doom, the Samurai in fury at the trick penetrated the Huli Jing's Heart with his blade. Dying the spirit regaled her love for the mortal man. Finally, unable to atone for his crime, the man killed himself with his broken blade, and lay with his wife resting for eternity.
A wandering smith was said to have come across their graves, the blade made from the demon blood soaked steel had never dulled, so it was reforged into this weapon and the hilt remade of Huli Jing bone.
- #2 Midnight Childs Blade:
Name: Midnight Childs Blade (Mayonakanokodomotachi no ken 真夜中の子供たちの剣 )
Type Of Weapon: Tanto, Katana, Zanbato
Rank: S (Legendary)
Elemental Alignment: N/A
Ability/Function: (Requires Kenjutsu)
The Midnight Childs blade is a fascinating chakra blade. Second of Kiris legendary 7 swords, and probably the strongest chakra blade in world history. At the cost of -15 Chakra per turn the blade is able to rapidly create around itself an up to 1.5m chakra blade coating so fine and pristine, it looks like it were solid crystal of which the length can be altered once per turn.
In addition, the near weightless nature of the blade makes it almost effortless to wield, This weapon can also block basic strikes with ease which have a strength stat equal to or lower than this weapons rank.
Cuts made by this sword are so fine, they are known to create a slight delayed reaction, able to almost phase through a person, rock and light steel with equal ease with no visible signs of damage until another impact or breeze causes the victim to separate.
Appearance: The blade is a small dagger with a longer than normal foot and a half long hilt which is bound in leather but in the same pattern as a katana. The blade itself is platinum white and heavily engraved with ancient hirigana, though its edge is pristine it produces an blue aqua colored blade of pure chakra which overlaps the entire weapon when activated that seems as solid as any metal.
History:Ippon-Datara, the Legendary one legged mountain smith once saw a ball of fire fall from the sky and crash into the land. Looking to his sons he asked the reluctant children to fetch whatever lay there for him. The boys complained, but the smallest and youngest of his sons, eager to prove himself accepted the task, only to be jeered at by his brothers and called weak and strength-less. Rebellious and proud, the smallest son made his way down the mountain to the site of the crater.
There he found a core of strange iron which had fallen from the sky, but he was unable to lift it, before being sighted by travelers, who asked the small boy of his task. The boy told him of his mission and they laughed at the boy, claiming him too young to even drag the core up out of the crater, yet alone the mountain. Though the boy asked for aid, they would not give it, so the boy asked for a blanket for the night... the travelers gave him a blanket out of pity, but they boy chose to wrap the iron to drag it up the hill, and the travelers went on their way.
Half way up the mountain however, the boy tired, as crows circled his head, waiting for him to die. The crows laughed at his failure, and claimed that soon they would feast on his meek body. The boy laughed at them in return, claiming that they would have no food i he were to waste away unfed. So the crows bought him berries from the far away brush to feed the youngest son, to plump him up. Filled and re-energized, the smallest child made it up the mountain, to the shocked and horrified looks on his brothers faces, as he told his story of how he was nobly helped by the birds and travelling men. Ippon-Datara was proud of his son, and from the steel forged a dagger, gave meat to the crows and blessed the travelers journey. The blade he forged his smallest son became a blade that even in a child's hands, could rival the blade and swordsmanship of any trained samurai... And his brothers never jeered him again.
- #3 Soul Cutter:
Name: Sourukattā (Soul Cutter)
Type Of Weapon: Katana
Rank: SS
Elemental Alignment: /
Ability/Function:
Soul Cutter possesses the ability to cut through chakra based techniques, such as ninjutsu. It can cut up to S rank when in its incorporeal form. Additionally, it is able to cut through the chakra pathways in the human body. Once these pathways are cut, the victim is unable to channel chakra to or access any chakra from that part of their body. The blade goes directly through a person’s skin and armor in order to cut these pathways. However, it can be stopped by S rank armor and higher. The damage from this lasts for the entire thread (but can be healed by techniques which would do so). In order to cut the chakra pathways, the sword must penetrate through the ninja, as if it would remove the limb.
The blade transitions between a corporeal and incorporeal forms upon the user’s will, at a rate of once per turn, with a cost of -10 chakra every time it changes from one form to the other. In its corporeal form, the blade is unable to phase through armor but is able to clash against another sword or block attacks. In its incorporeal form it can phase through armor non chakra enhanced armour and cut chakra pathways, and jutsu, though it is unable to do physical damage.
Close/Long Range: Close
Appearance: Soul Cutter is a large eastern sword, a Po-Dao bordering on the length of a Nodachi. It has a simple, smooth hilt made out of reinforced wood. Its scabbard is also made of the same material, though decorated with a floral pattern. The blade has its own name etched into it in kanji and is 15 cm wide. The base of the blade has a glowing green skull on it that adds to its appearance as a spiritual sword.
History: A sword created by a group of monks that lived in the outskirts of Kirigakure several hundred years ago. These monks are faithful people who did not believe in harming the human body in conventional ways. They were an organization that prided itself on stealth, believing that sometimes the weapons that appear to be simplest and least harmful are the ones that should be feared the most. So the monks created a weapon, a weapon that would not harm the human body on the surface, but still be able to kill ones who try to oppose their monastery and even the village of Kirigakure as a whole. The blade was handed down from one generation of leaders to the next, though it always remained within the monastery, to the point where hardly anyone knew of its existence. There were many versions of the weapon, though they were all only a shadow of the final product, all a Po-Dao. It has been hidden within Kirigakure, a secret weapon for when needed to be used in war.
After one hundred years of remaining hidden within the monastery, the blade was gifted to one of the Mizukage, who vowed to put the weapon to good use in respect of the monk's wishes. After he died, the blade was presumed to be lost. It wasn't until one hundred years later that a Mizukage by the name of Juro Osada uncovered the scroll that had Soul Cutter hidden within it. He gifted the blade to Gin Kuroka, who was the Kazekage at the time. The blade has been with her ever since.
- #4 Kūkan & Sōzō:
Name: Vorpal swords: Kūkan & Sōzō
Type Of Weapon: Twin Swords
Rank: S (Legendary)
Elemental Alignment: N/A
Ability/Function: The Vorpal swords are twin blades which are molecularly identical to one another to such a fine level that the chakra which is imbued within them flows freely across the gaps between them as if they were one weapon, uniting them even if they are far apart. Techniques used through one of the blades, are mimicked to the other, replicating the effects at a cost of -10 chakra per turn (in addition to the jutsu used).
However, if one technique is used on 'each' blade of differing elements and is maintained (-20 additional chakra). The visual effect of the chakra becomes black as night, and wounds/ Damage dealt by the blades or the effects cast on them cause a powerful lingering pain which reduces a ninjas speed by -1 tier and do not heal naturally, causing wounds from blades in this state require B rank or higher Medical jutsu to heal from as an additional effect.
Appearance: Twin black blades which have an off feeling about them, the material they are made of is charred steel with soft patterns running across them much like pattern welded Damascus steel. The chakra which is infused within them causes the patterns to shimmer with rainbow colours, like oil when they hit the light. Each of the swords is a total of 3'4" in length with 3" wide blades at the thickest point, extending to 5.5" at the guard with about a half foot long handle.
History: Twin fire country monks came to settle in Kirigakure not a century ago, each of them were known as excellent spiritual teachers and followers of the way of peace. The twin monks fancied festivals and merry making, and were often seen demonstrating their mirror fighting style, where one of them was able to perfectly mimic the other down to the finest possible detail seemingly no matter the action.
A young man and his twin brother came under the tutelage of the two monks as idolers, though they intended to follow the way of peace, they were aspiring Genin of the Village hidden in the Mist, one with a dream to become a great hero, and the other a great smith to make their land a safe and better place.
The monks taught them their style, and how they fed their chakra between each other as they were identical, and were once one being, which allowed them to mimic each other so. And that themselves as one being with one soul and one chakra, had never truly been severed, although their bodies may have been as children in utero.
As the boys became men, and their masters long deceased, the smith of the two became a master metallurgist, the other, a master Swordsman. And together, with one making their superior weapons, and the other's superior sword skills, they made the land a safer place for everyone who they could spread their shield out and across to. And, as time repeats itself it was not long before another pair of twins came to them for the same tutelage as idolers.
The newer, younger twins had a bright set of ideals, however not long into their training one of the twins fell ill, and died not long later from a deadly fever. The other twin fell into depression and despair, having lost a friend so dear as his twin. So the blacksmith, now in his waning years, forged two blades, made from the same smelt, and the same ingot, splitting them from their original whole and imbuing them with their chakra, and telling him of the power of the swords, and reminding him. 'That you and your twin will always be of one spirit, of one mind, of one chakra... although you may not be one of body, his soul has simply returned to its home in you... so together, you can wield these swords, as one...'
- #5 Eidleweiss:
Name:Eidleweiss
Type Of Weapon: Bastard Sword
Rank: S (Legendary)
Elemental Alignment: Katon
Ability/Function: (Requires Swordsmanship)
The one and a half handed sword; its stance suggesting can operate one of two functions. With two hands on the blade, and for -15 chakra per turn, this weapon plumes fire from the full length of the blade, giving the sword itself amazing cutting potential and super-heating the blade to be able to transfer 3rd degree burns instantly on contact. On all strikes the fire leaps from the steel of the blade in long licks of katon, able to deal second degree burns on contact. Each tendril of flame cannot travel more than three meters in the direction of any strike, each lick having a 3" wide diameter, but being as wide as the sweeps taken with the blade.
However, while wielding the blade with one hand, the user can with a cost of -20 chakra per turn, Eidleweiss is able to draw the heat from the blade and conjure a 2' diameter shield made of flame as a buckler on their other arm (in a shape of the users choice). The flaming buckler is solid and is able to block S rank basic attacks and an 1 A rank technique (2 of 1 rank lower), a second A rank technique (or a third of 1 rank lower) will break the shield and deal 1/2 its damage to the weilder. If the shield is broken, this words chakra abilities cannot be re-activated for 4 turns.
Appearance: The weapon is a 5' long European double edged bastard sword. The weapon looks nicked and used, but it this seems to bear no weight on its structural integrity or its cutting edge. The weapon is a cleaving weapon, as opposed to a fine slicing one and looks as if it would bare some weight behind its strikes. The weapon bears an ornate cross guard of copper/ gold coloration and its 10" hilt is bound with shark skin.
History: Oni no Kuni, an evil land in the country of swamps was where the bearer of this weapon was found upon a blasted heath, surrounded by nothing but death and warped inhuman corpses for meters in every direction, little is known about the sword, but it is said by the people of the village tell a tale that the mummified ashen statue of a man who held it was a hero...
The tale tells of a ninja bearing the headband of the land of waves, a large, kind man who took up residence in the land of swamps and, upon his back, a weapon sealed in chains. Whenever he was asked about the sword, or whenever he was challenged to duel, he told all he swore he would never draw the blade against a human being, win or lose, a vow he held close to his heart and never failed in. After some time, he took up a wife in a nearby village, a loving mystic healer, and with her, he had a daughter. Life was good, until the ogres came...
The Ogres were foul monsters who set upon the village and within their wake came death and flame... The aged ninja drew them away into the forest, knowing he would never see his family again... So, upon a heath, he drew the blade which shone with righteous glory, and one by one he smote the Ogres where they stood down to the very last one, his fire so bright it burned their already charred skin, and it was said one could mistake the night for day.
Death met the man after the battle, preserved as solid ashen stone from his wounds, kneeling, presenting the blade to whomever would so claim it. His idol was revered as sacred to the town, and for many years, none claimed the legendary sword of fire. Until one day the idol was found by a wandering Kiri ninja, bearing the same headband, so, with the permission of the town, the mighty sword was bought back home, with a scroll detailing this story, and the title of the fifth of kiri's new legendary 7 swords.
- #6 Raidachi:
Name: Raidachi
Type Of Weapon: Double Ended Sword
Rank: S (Legendary)
Elemental Alignment: Raiton (Does 'not' Require Raiton to use)
Ability/Function: (Requires Bojutsu to use)
The Raiton weapon charges up its lightning in the form of kinetic energy so long as the blade is moving, allowing the user to not require Raiton to use the weapon. (This means the raiton on the blades however, 'can' burn the user) At the additional cost of -10 chakra the weapon is able to create one 'charge' per turn which the momentum and movement of the weapon maintains so long as it continues to move. Charges increase the weapon's strength in varying means and ranks depending on the amount of charges the weapon has. Charges only dissolve if the weapon is disarmed or forced to be stationary for a round. Charges can also be expelled in a single offensive technique whose power, considered rank, and effects range depending on the number of charges accumulated, not needing to be maintained otherwise. (A character over three turns could pay -20 chakra to add two charges, but does not need to maintain the charges so long as he does not let them dissolve and could add the third at any point so long as conditions are met.)Appearance: Raidachi is a 3 foot long onyx coloured pole which adorns 1'3" blades extending from either side, the blades are double edged and the weapon bears ceremonial patterns all across the weapon's length and width. The weapon shimmers various colours on inspection lightly under direct sun or moonlight and is notably light to hold.
- Charge Table:
~ 1 Charge: (C rank) The weapon has a light coating of electricity, able to numb the areas of an opponent it makes contact with around the impact zone and down (if hitting an extremity) for 3 turns. This can be expelled in a single bolt of lightning travelling at 15mp/s over a 20m range, which, on impact, can throw a ninja back 3m and deal second degree electrical burns over its impacted area (3" radius)
~ 2 Charges:(B rank) The weapon retaining the numbing effect from before, is able to be spun faster than it normally would making it a blur of motion, giving opponents -1 to the their reaction speed involving attacks from Raidachi itself (not the user), as long as they keep this level of charge. The charges are able to be expelled in a direction as seven thin (2") bolts of fork lightning which travel at 30mp/s and deal heavy second degree burns through an opponent, able to lightly burn internal organs and throw a ninja back 5m.
~ 3 Charges:(A rank) The weapon's blades become encased in a potent array of lightning which is able to deal moderate 3rd degree electrical burns on contact, but does not receive any of the prior 2 charge level's effects. The charge can be released to fire a continuous ray of lightning from both ends travelling at 40mp's over a range of 10m, which are sharp enough to cut through a single unarmoured person, lasting one second before dissipating, allowing the user to spin the weapon and attempt multiple hits with the beams.
History: One of the former Daimyo's of Mizu no Kuni ruled in an era called the time of storms, where lightning and thunder were often seen and the sea swept over the land violently. Hurricanes and Tsunami were common-place as the Country seemed to be at war with the natural elements that surrounded it, plunging the people into chaos while the Daimyo lived in peace and comfort... the people starved and drowned in the streets, until one day, there was a revolt.
The Mizukage of the time, lead the people toward the Daimyo's palace and into bloody war with the leader of the Country who fought back with Samurai and military might. Throughout the battle, the needle which stood at the top of the manor of the Daimyo called to the lightning in the sky, as it repeatedly struck the conductive steel, illuminating the bloodstained night. As the battle waged, the people's army was routed, leaving only the Mizukage, bloodied, beaten, and battling the warrior Daimyo with the last of his might. But as the final blow was about to strike, the Kage vanished, and with a final blow of lightning the needle was snapped from the roof, and thrust from the heavens through the Daimyo's chest, ending his reign.
From the conductive steel needle, Raidachi was born, melting down the steel which had been struck a hundred times in the age of storms, its natural lightning still coursing through the weapon which had turned semi crystalline from the repeated blows, requiring only a sliver of chakra to re-invigorate the inner charge... Though a point of note, only the pole was forged from the needle, the smith spoke that the blades were specially crafted to focus the weapon's lethal voltage. Years later, the symbolic weapon was dredged from the vaults which harbored it, it became the sixth of Kiri's legendary seven swords
- #7 Serpents Tongue:
Name: Serpents Tongue
Type Of Weapon: Whip-Blade (Onojutsu)
Rank: S (Legendary)
Elemental Alignment: N/A
Ability/Function: Serpents Tongue is unlike any weapon ever seen before, able to retract to become a model short sword, or extend on a chain to have its individual segments become a bladed whip. The blood whip, through taking a sample of its wielders vitae (causing -1 to reaction speed during the turn it is drawn each thread) is able to operate in tandem with the user's mind, allowing the user to control the whips movements mentally at the cost of -5 chakra per turn while it is fluid. while the whip is fluid like this, it is exceedingly hard to track with the naked eye, users without ace eye react as if they have one tier slower reaction time from attacks from this weapon when in whip mode.
Though should the wielder have S rank chakra flow and weapon style Kyujutsu. The whip is not restricted by the length of the chain which connects each of the individual bladed butterfly like segments. For -25 chakra, each of the 20 2" wide segments can be removed from the blade and shot at a speed of 60mp/s toward a single or multiple targets in a straight line within 30m before curving and returning to their respective places on the chain at the same speed.
The blade of the weapon is sharp enough to easily penetrate through full ninja, be it in sword, whip, or projectile form.
Appearance: The sword whip at its shortest length when retracted is a gladius like 2' long short sword which has many separate chitin like sections. Though fully extended the blade is over three meters in length. The steel which the weapon is made of is silver in colour with a red wound hilt.
History: Serpents tongue belonged to an old man who in his old age as a ninja retired in an old house by the old sea which was often a landing ground for old pirates. The old man would offer his home to the scally-wags so long as they never bought him harm nor harm any of his family... In return, he would provide them food, shelter, a place to port and sleep so long as they showed him some respect. The deal was honored for many a year until the old man's granddaughter came to visit him...
The pirates docked the day she was collecting shells, and seeing the beautiful maiden fair, the murderous scum thought her acquirable by force... The old man, having not seen her for a time, took out to looking for the girl to no avail, only finding a small pile of sea shells and an old snake fang necklace which he had given her many a year ago.
On returning to his home, the Pirates had shacked up as per usual, hungry and in want of shelter and service, to which the man protested for a moment before thinking, and asking of if they had seen a girl upon the beach, and that if they had, she was family, and under protection of their agreement. The Pirates, who, at sea had mutinied their old captain, decided this agreement had suddenly become more trouble than it was worth, and gleefully spoke of his Granddaughters falsified death, and boasted about the old ninja's helplessness...
It was within a moment, the new captains head was severed, as well as the men of his crew by the lightning quick sting of Serpents Tongue and he moved to take his vengeance. Boarding their ship to see her unconscious body lying cloth-less on the deck. Rage overcame the aged ninja, as one by one he slew each and every member of the ships crew until a single explosion rang aloud, and a wound appeared on the old man's heart. A pistol round penetrating his heart... With a final cry the ninja slew the pirate as the poisoned round tainted his vengeful chakra, and spilt into the whip like blade as his granddaughter awoke, and ran to her grandfather's aid, though he perished, she buried him, and returned to kiri with his blade, and honouring his memory with declaring it the Seventh legendary weapon of the mist.

National Icons
Each of the Legendary Seven Swords of Kirigakure are relics which for generations have been wielded by the most powerful swordsmen of their respective ages. As such, the blades almost have a living need to be used by those with skill in swordsmanship. Should the blades fall into disuse for very long periods of time, they are known to find their way to the land of Mist for relocation.
Upgrading
Each of the S-Rank Seven Swords as legendary artifacts are each aged relics, some of them little more than shadows of their former selves or future potential, be they degraded by years in both power and sharpness or greater than they appear. But that is not to say that they shall forever remain this way, to the ninja willing to look for ancient and secret means to reforge the blades into their 'true' selves would find their power dramatically increase into something truly fantastic.
At the cost of 10k Ryo, and a 6k word minimum 'plot' thread organised by the kage OOC, a member of the 7 Swordsmen can journey on a search for a means to awaken the true nature of any of the S-Rank swords they possess. The method of tempering can take many forms, be it searching out for the legendary smith whom forged them, renewing the fading chakra within the weapon or many, many other means which can 'awaken' the power within the sword. Once the deed is done, the weapon is reforged by the kage into its true state, and the swordsman's epic tale is recorded for the ages on the weapons history as part of the weapons' legend for all to know and see.
