Round Four: Yasubei vs. Samuru TF2a3bh

Taking place at the historic Blossoming Pillars Stadium (Jūhi Dōhyō), the final rounds of the Exams forego the tricks and surprises of earlier, making way for an arena that is both iconic and neutral. In spite of a modest 25m radius, this arena is no less grand than those which preceded it, boasting stands that raise high above for observers to watch the anticipated final matches and a fighting zone where legendary heroes and Kage once fought. A dusty circle surrounded by sparse shrubs and a high wall encloses combatants, who enter from opposite ends of the arena, the crowd roars, the Chūnin Exams draw to a close.

When he was informed that the upcoming round, would have a significantly stricter time limit Yasu knew that he had to change up his game plan. He typically enjoyed figuring out the trick to the stage before acting. Guess that wasn't happening this time, because as Yasubei stepped onto the stage, a thick, dense aura of orange chakra enveloped him. With his second step he'd break into a sprint of towards his opponent using enhanced speed to move at 19 m/s. His alabaster hair would being to whip in the wind behind him obscuring the claws of the little tiger hidden on his back, animated by a chakra string that snaked through Yasu's undershirt, chain mesh shirt, under the back of his billowing cloak, and to the puppet itself.

Yasubei wouldn't slow for a moment as he made his way towards his opponent's location, not for an introduction, and certainly not for his opponent if they hesitated or looked for an item to place a substitution in.. He didn't know his opponent or what they could do, but he wouldn't have time to find out anyways, so he was going full speed. Once he was within 25 meters of his opponent, taking into account his opponent's movements, he would change his angle of approach by 45 degrees in one bound so he would be on their right side. He would begin sliding, on both of his bare feet like a snowboarder skidding to a stop, his body slightly tilted towards the direction he approached from as he skidded. He would be less than a meter from the spot he'd leapt from when, from the perspective of people with less than C-3 perception, a burst of air would kick up dirt, and he'd be gone.

Anyone with B-Rank or higher perception could easily see that Yasubei was making an attempt at flash stepping. He'd cross just behind his opponent, with his toes within a meter of his opponent's heels. He wouldn't appear directly behind them, as he moved in a straight line, but he would attempt to get pretty close. His head would rotate as he landed to catch sight of his opponent. Assuming there was a valid target still there, he would use a bit of  chakra to explode his foot upwards with increased speed, fully committing to a kick that he would use to deliver his legendary technique. If that strike hit cleanly it would cause moderate bruising to his opponent's stomach. If it was a glancing blow because his opponent was faster than him or could react quicker than him, Yasu's talon-like, pointed nails would rake up his torso causing up to 3/4 inch cuts. Either way if contact was made, Yasu's Legendary Front Hand Technique would activate lifting his opponent 35 meters into the air, making sure his opponent didn't peak next to a wall or any shrubbery.

Every move Yasubei did after his flash step had been a distraction in the hopes for the following to bear fruit. Once Yasubei confirmed his opponent's location after the flash step, the bushy tail of his adorable puppet would snake out, up to forty meters at 20 m/s, until it tightly grab his target's left ankle. It would give a tug upon the the grappled ankle to trip up his opponent to make dodging more difficult as Yasu's foot rose upwards towards his opponent's stomach. If its opponent moved away from Yasubei the tail would maintain its grip and extend with its opponent's movement. If that movement was because of The Legendary Front Hand Technique, the tail would wait a moment before slamming the target back down into the ground.

Samuru had been resting before he was alerted about his next match. He wasn’t exactly pleased about it. It was more annoying than anything. The shinobi wasn’t quite mentally prepared for all of these back to back matches. He prefered to get out there and complete everything out in one go. The ronin knew that his body wouldn’t be able to quite long durations of time. It was what it was. There wasn’t much time to be lax and sit around. Samuru wasn’t much of a complainer anyway. The way things had been going seemed to be flexing. He hoped that this wouldn’t be his last battle. Though if it was, he had accomplished what he came there to do. The main goal was to test his might and gain some experience in live combat. His opponent’s had been an interesting bunch with various styles. He took and learned from each other their styles. There was nothing negative the way they handled themselves. They were all skilled and were quite persistent.

He hoped that this match would be quite interesting as the rest. Motivation was somewhat dead to him. He didn’t want to lose, but he now didn’t care for winning either. Samuru would have felt a slight discomfort from the decision of continued, but his body wouldn’t allow it. There was no physical feeling that would push him forward. Samuru wasn’t even sure how he wanted to fight this round, but he felt that it would be all depending on what his opponent was capable of. That was the wisest thing to do. Samuru wasn’t as bored as he was during the beginning of the chuunin exam, but it started to settle in pretty hard. The young man wondered was keeping going even worth it at this point. He even thought about throwing the match, but his pride wouldn’t allow him. Not without some semblance of a fight that is.

Samuru had arrived at the stadium as he heard the crowd. The voices were obnoxiously loud. There wasn’t much he could about. It was time for his match. The hallway to the entrance to the main arena. The walk was long and dark as he walked closer toward the arena with each step. The door opened as he withdrew his axe from its sheath into his hand. All of his weapons were on him and ready to be utilized. The door to the stadium closed as he was somewhat prepared to traditionally. He looked to his weapon before looking out to the stadium before looking out toward his opponent. His last matches had been a learning experience. It wasn’t like he really wanted to use it, but he figured it was probably safer than naught. The substitution technique wasn’t for the weak and he had to remind himself of that. The technique could have been the separation of life and death.

The next thing he knew, his opponent started to look blurry as he stopped within 10m from his entrance. Samuru quickly formed a quick three half seals as a yellow 4x4 cubed barrier formed around him. The last two matches he had been him being on the offensive most of the match. He figured that he would hang back this match to see what would happen. This would also give him enough time to think. He then formed a single hand seal as he whispered, “Hidden Mist.” A heavy mist protruded over the area covering him and everything within a 15m radius of him. Samuru wanted to give him more time to figure out his opponent. Though, Samuru would definitely be vulnerable to his own mist. The ronin formed two hand seals as he activated his sensory technique allowing him to feel the vibrations within the 20m radius around him. Samuru wasn’t quite ready to start off this way, but he wanted to preserve himself awhile. The barrier should have protected him from whatever attack his opponent had drawn up against him for the time being.

When Yasubei reappeared almost next to his opponent, having cleared the distance between the two of them with relative ease, it took him a moment to get his bearings as he'd been effectively blind. Before he could get his attack off his opponent performed three half seals Bird, Tiger, Ox. This alone would have raised Yasu's guard, but a large barrier shortly after projected itself from the battleaxe wielding genin. As it rippled to life Yasu squirmed backwards moving just about as fast as the barrier he was trying to avoid touching as it expanded about two meters towards him before coming to a stop. He would opt to not let the barrier touch him over using the Front Hand Technique

A single scroll would fall from Yasubei's right sleeve, which he'd tap with his hand infusing the scroll with chakra as his opponent named his next technique. The Hidden Mist Technique was one that Yasubei had encountered before, and while he had no definitive counter for it the puppet body he was currently in could see through it, at least decently. The summoned serpent would arrive on the scene as the scroll rolled back up Yasu's sleeve, it would already be connected to its master by a thin string same as the Little Tiger who was prodding at the barrier from its spot on Yasu's back looking for a way in.

As the mist escaped the Raiton user's mouth, seeing as there were no nearby water sources, the snake would go for the barrier its master's puppet strings demanded. Yasu would slowly take a couple steps back as the scaled corpse, gouged and burned by a long ended fight, encircled the cubic barrier. Yasubei would hop further back as the cube boxed in the dense fog, slightly obscuring the goings ons within, until his snake had covered it. If the snake, which had been summoned next to the barrier had encircled the barrier with its crushing grip, its already massive jaws would expand to slowly attempt to fit the cube in its unliving maw if this revealed Yasu's opponent the constriction would tighten, and Yasu's snake would go after him instead.

If the snake could labor enough to engulf its target, with or without having the 4m by 4m cube in its mouth, a gas would begin pouring from the insides of its mouth and digestive system. Three post exposure to the gas would cause near asphyxiation, and put the target into a state of unconsciousness. The inside of the snakes body seemed to be better maintained than the outside, most of the internal injuries having already been treated. If the cube was swallowed the Little Tiger would cease its inquiry. Additionally if it turned out that the Mist was capable of permeating through Perun's barrier, Yasu would stand close enough to replicate the described actions - within five meters- otherwise he's a safe 8 meters away observing.

Samuru became quite interested in the events that transpired next. He could sense multiple presences vibration presences forms within the mist, but one was massive. It seemed to wrap around his barrier and tighten itself around it. He wasn’t sure what it was. A giant earthworm or a serpent? There was no telling, but then he noticed that his barrier was being consumed by it. Samuru definitely figured that it was a serpent, but dead or alive, he knew not. Everything seemed a lot darker as he wondered what this could mean for him. It was everyday that you found yourself swallowed by a huge creature. Samuru wondered if this was some kind of kuchiyose no jutsu. He had only seen it a couple of times and was curious on how to utilize it himself. This was very intriguing to him.

The darkness didn’t seem to end everything around him. There was a awkward smell as his breathing started to become more labored. Not good, he thought. What was this that he was now plagued by. Just based on the sounds of his breathing, he figured that this was something to incapacitate him in someway, but he wasn’t sure how it was happening. Samuru was glad that his opponent was quite skilled and quickly had been able to subdue him. It was mind racking as he questioned what he should do. There wouldn’t be enough time for him to stand around in the belly of the beast and find out. This needed to be accessed quickly as the round wouldn’t last very long and probably neither would he. Immediate action was definitely needed.

The ronin lifted his axe in the space above his head as it sparked to life with crimson lightning. It became clear to him that he was inside a beast stomach. The interior walls showed as much. He sighed as he figured that he would just have to cut himself out of it. He lifted the weapon into the air and swung it after dispersing his barrier. A wave of crimson raiton would make contact with the beast stomach as it would act against any defensive technique as one rank higher. He would then cut in the opposite direction of his swing before it became too cramped to do much. Samuru would attempt to cut through the flesh and release him from the fleshy prison as his axe would now have 3 inches of cutting instead of its usual 1.5 inches and able to deal minor first degree burns. If successful, he would attempt to slip himself out of the puppet and run four meters away from it. Samuru would remain in the mist and would keep himself hidden within its humid shroud.

Yasu stayed relatively close to the digesting cube, so he could maintain an idea of what was going on inside. Since he was only able to make out general shapes he thought it best to stay close to his query. A vermilion light would radiate form the serpentine corpse as its bulge lost its cube-like shape, and Yasubei could feel his technique overcome by his opponent, and within that moment he knew Lamya's Fang's purpose had been extinguished. There were things he could do to protect the corpse, but the benefit of protecting the corpse was minute enough that he'd choose to abstain.

As the first cut pierced into the snake's flesh, Yasu would watch as the vermilion glow almost seemed to move from within. The vermilion light would move again and a white light would launch out of the snake's body from the opposite side. With less than a thought the string that attached Yasu to the snake would retract back under his cloak. The once engulfed ninja would spread the snake's flesh apart as he left quite fittingly from the belly of the beast. Yasu watched as the ninja emerged from three meters away with a battle axe covered in a cloak not dissimilar to his own only his opponent's glowed, something Yasu needed to look into.

As he moved out of the beast four senbon made of water would fly at 55 meters per second one at a time to hit the ninja less than 5 meters away. The first would be aimed for the thigh of the first leg to step out of the snake. The second and third would be aimed for the genin's gut, track his movement or keeping pace with him if either were necessary to ensure a clean hit. The fourth would aim to pierce the genin's leg once more, aiming for where he guessed the femoral artery might be, but the mist made that shot the most difficult.

While its master calmly watched the boy emerge from the other servant's gut, the Little Tiger wouldn't remain still. It's long, snaking tail would go for its target once more from an angle above it. Piercing the air at 20 m/s, the creature's prehensile tail would go for the hand holding the glowing weapon that not only managed to end Yasu's capture technique, but also didn't waver in strength or intensity after doing so. If it were to make contact, which would be after the senbon possibly hit, it would attempt to hold tight onto the wrist and hand of its target with its C-0 strength, both to impede his ability to swing and stop him from letting go. If the Little Tiger wasn't fast enough to grab the genin as it exited the corpse Yasu would maintain distance as his opponent moved away, so his puppet's superior speed could make up the difference. If Yasu could confirm a successful grab, he would actively maintain the four to five meter distance with his opponent, and he would take up a defensive, reactive stance.

Not soon after he made it out of the stomach of the beast. He felt a quick vibration coming toward him he attempted to move his axe, but it didn’t seem to budge. Not even opening his hand worked. This was a unexpected. Since the beginning of the match, he was hit with curveballs. This match was out of his usual experience. Samuru wasn’t sure what to think, but he did noticed that the large body he came from ceased to move, but there was a lack of blood that came from his exit. That’s when it clicked that he was facing a puppet user. Though, that assessment was late with how far the match had gone. He was simply out maneuvered. It wasn’t anything he could do about it. Lack of experience dealing with puppets played a huge part in this as well.

Samuru seemed to be hit by something. It seemed heavy as he heard whatever it was connect with his flesh. It would be the first time he really suffered any real injury during the exam. Fortunately for him, it would make no difference as he could feel no pain. There was no mental shock as the projectiles hit his body. It wasn’t like he could dodge it anyway. He was sure where the vibrations in were coming from within the mist. Though, he would need to choose wisely who his next target would be. He could either aim for the target that was binding him or attack from where the projectiles would come from. Samuru figured that the opponent wouldn't attempt to latch onto him, so he would just need to aim in the direction of the projectiles as he felt the vibrations of his another figure within his sensory move. The ronin was also aware that he was burning chakra way too fast. He would need to act quickly.

Using his sensory technique, he noticed that his opponent was pretty close as there wasn’t any vibrations on the outskirts of his sensory. This may have been in his favor as he formed a couple of one handed seals with his free hand as he released a surge of cerulean lightning toward his opponent. The surge of cerulean lighting would travel at the increased speed of 30m/s and its range increased to 50m. With how close he was and the speed it traveled he would wonder how his opponent would deal with the technique. It was the quickest and most immediate action that he could think of. The technique would end any maintained technique that this his opponent. It would also could cause bone fractures. If successful, the technique would land a hit on his opponent and also end his opponent’s puppet technique allowing him freedom.

The sound of the senbon hitting was confirmation enough, and though he could vaguely see them it was difficult to tell precisely where the holes had pierced his target. He didn't have time to rest though because the ninja that had just been hit was a veritable beast, absorbing the hits without flinching. Yasubei could see the figure raise a hand to make hand signs, while this wasn't the first time even in the exams he'd had to deal with this, it usually ended up poorly for him. He resolved himself to stop the jutsu from even forming, and with less than a thought he allowed his prepared mantle of chakra to do its job. As he released the tonjutsu he'd be launch forwards at 30 m/s to close the gap between the two ninja. As he was closing the distance he would begin moving to grab his opponent's non-wielding hand using his mirroring hand to do so, and his opposite hand would be rearing back for a strike.

Yasu would attempt to grab the ninja's hand as he formed the second one handed seal,  if he succeeded he'd end up grabbing the hand as the cerulean raiton chakra was emitted from it, instead of before the jutsu went off. At the same time two flexed and extended fingers would launch towards his opponent's suprasternal notch, using the additional effect of the Advance technique to increase the speed of the blow by ten meters per second. The dense chakra of Yasu's mantle would briefly fight against the glowing cerulean of his opponent's technique, as the tonjutsu mantle extinguished his opponent's extremely dangerous technique. The two fingers would, if unimpeded, aim for the soft spot located on every human where their necks and collar bones met though Yasu would take any hit he could get as they adjusted to his puppet's assist.

If he were to hit the fingers would rip three quarters of an inch into his opponent's neck and would also cause moderate bruising in the area with the base power of the strike alone, but Yasubei now that his mantle was gone was no longer confident in his ability to fight in this mist, so there would be more to the strike than that. A successful hit would also knock his opponent up into the air and backwards, 35 meters away from Yasubei, over the snake and towards the center of the stage, and 28 meters in the air. If his opponent were hit by the technique, he'd release their hand and four more senbon would erupt from Yasu's horn following after the flying genin using his puppet's tail to guide him.

When his master noticed the hand seals being made, the Little Tiger jumped from its master's back to the ground. Once there it sink its feet into ground as its master approached the target from the side of its restrained hand. This would attempt to pull on his opponents arm would hopefully knock him slightly off balance or prevent him from swinging the weapon. The Little tiger would maintain tension on the line unless his master made contact, at which point he would allow his tail to extend as the target was launched 35 meters away while still gripping tightly with the end of its tail.

Samuru was able to get off his attack off as his opponent had been able to grab his hand. Samuru sensed the vibrations in the air as his opponent’s hand moved toward his throat. The ronin leaned his backwards to avoid a strike to his neck while using the Supernatural Walking Technique was used on his non-weapon hand while it was still being gripped. This was an attempt to tether them together while stretching his arms appropriately to give him more distance between his neck and his opponent's thrust. The redheaded shinobi screamed, “OSU!” with his head leaned back. As a bright yellow sphere 3m x 3m expanded from his body at 20m/s. The sphere would be able to induce minor 2nd degree burns to targets around him. The technique would also free his weapon hand’s binding.

His next reaction had been swing his lightning enhanced axe upward toward his opponent’s midsection while enhancing his arms with raiton chakra. As his weapon hand was already choked up toward his axe’s blade, the blade would attempt to make contact with his opponent’s body cutting 3 inches deep into his opponent’s body while causing minor 1st degree burns. Samuru would then let go of his opponent’s hand and jumped to his right side three meters. He wouldn’t back down as of yet. Samuru was ready for this fight over, but he would persist on. There was too much investing into this fight that he put in extra effort into it.

Samuru was intrigued by the speed and tenacity of his opponent’s attacks. He was quite envious that his opponent had items like puppets to aid him in battle. Samuru definitely preferred to be up close and personal with his opponents. There wasn’t much in the way of regret as for fighting his opponent. This whole thing was somewhat intriguing in the way. Though, he still had mixed thoughts about the match.

“Osu!” His opponent would yank his head back to make space between Yasu’s hand and his head. After he dodged a few things would happen nearly simultaneously prompting Yasu to instinctively and defensively flow chakra through his body and hair.  The yellow light would begin to sear his jacket, pants, and the thick chain undershirt he was wearing, but the body beneath the clothes was reinforced. Hair would snake down his neck and his back before spread from him and expanding into a sphere. Yasubei wouldn’t be letting go just so soon.

Yasubei’s immediate focus wasn’t his opponent’s glowing yellow aura or the possible effects it might have on the Little Tiger. His hand would move 15 m/s faster than normal as it snapped to meet his opponents arm in an attempt at intercepting the strike. As a backup his hair would already be wrapping around him expanding past his opponent as he reached to grab his opponent’s wielding arm taking advantage of the new tactic his opponent had taught him on both of his hands, assuming he made contact with his other hand. Spikes would protude from the hair wrapping around him pointing away from Yasu to punish the assault.

Yasu would pull his quarry closer through the ball of spiked hair, each hair would be able to pierce 3/4 of an inch into flesh, but his opponent had already proven himself to be made of tough enough stuff to take worse. That’s why as Yasu would pull his opponent closer he would split his lips for the first time this fight. Razor sharp teeth would reach for his opponent’s throat aiming to pierce 1.5 inches into his neck on both sides. Yasu would go fully commit to this attack though. Simultaeneously ten more senbon, this time made of hair, would launch at both of his calves sides of his chest cavity aimed at his ribs. The senbon would originate from the massive mane that was rapidly expanding to a 4 m radius. Yasu would maintain his grip against the slightly weaker ninja with the aid of supernatural walking practice. He could feel for the first time ever his endurance begin to waver.
