Round One: Yoshimatsu, Samuru vs. Yuki, Biru UjMGmQZ

Located at the site of one of Konoha’s newly minted railway depots, this arena takes place atop the hustle and bustle of moving train cars. Tunnels on all sides of the arena allow trains to pass to and fro through the arena at high speeds, with each train only remaining within the battleground for a single posting round before making it necessary to jump to a new train. Chakra barrier configurations prevent contestants from leaving or entering the tunnels designed for the locomotives, and in this arena, touching the ground means disqualification.

POSTING ORDER
1 - Samuru
2 - Biru

24 HOUR POST TIMER BEGINS FOR SAMURU 24 HOURS AFTER THIS POST

It was time for the first ever match of his chuunin exam. There was no nervousness. It wasn’t like he had ever been nervous. This was the first time he had participated in anything like this. He had spent many years on the road and alone. It would be through these exams that he wished to make a name for himself while only representing himself. There was no village associated with his name. It was only his will to win that existed within his empty shell of a body. Only a couple of people in the exams even knew what he was capable of. The only thing he would really need to do was survive to the end. There were many individuals that stood in his way, but one by one he would take them out to the best of his abilities.

As he arrived at the arena, he entered the platform of the railway station. He watched as the railcars moved back and forth across the rails. This was going to be interesting. Both him and his opponent would need to keep moving throughout their match. This would be fine for him. Samuru prefered fights that he was able to move around in anyway. He was ready to get this over with. Samuru hoped that he would be able to deal with his opponent swiftly. Though he enjoyed elongated battles, he didn’t want to have to waste energy jumping from train to train. This would be simple enough. Samuru nodded to the protector before bounding off onto a moving train. He climbed up from the side of a moving car before hoping to another car to go the opposite direction. Only thing he would need to do now was knock his opponent off or knock him out all together. Samuru drew his axe as he would wait for his opponent.

“Don’t make this boring.” he would whisper under his breath.

This was it, the day he had been training for for months now. Biru had never been so nervous in his entire life. Walking down the entrance hallway to his arena he could hear rushing air and the sounds of metal on metal. Were they still working on the arena he thought to himself then as he neared the end of the tunnel a train cart flew by bringing a gust of wind behind it that made his scarf flap off to his left. Then as that train cart passed he saw multiple others going by across the entire area in different directions. Now understanding what was going on Biru pulled his scarf off from around his neck and tossed it to the ground. He looked over toward the exam proctor on his side of the arena and stepped forward. As the next cart passed by Biru would hold out his right hand and grab ahold of some railing along the side of the cart. Being pulled along with the cart to his right Biru climbed up to the top of it and scanned the area. That was when he saw his competitor an average sized man with red hair wielding an axe. He looked older than Biru perhaps in his late teens or early twenties, but the most noteable thing for Biru was that he had no village markings anywhere on his clothing.

None of that really mattered now however as he needed to make sure he won this match and moved on to the next round. As the cart he was standing on neared the end of the arena and heading in to a tunnel Biru jumped forward on to a now emerging cart that was heading toward his left. Bringing him back toward his opponent Biru took his fighting stance readying himself for the combat that was about to come. Biru placed his left leg and arm forward while keeping his right arm tucked back tight to his side and his right leg planted firmly in the ground perpendicular to the rest of his body. Biru's stance kept his body narrow as to give his opponent the least amount of space possible to strike him if he came at him in a straight forward assault. With his right hand that was tucked back Biru began making hand signs in preparation for the fight that was about to begin.

While Samuru waited on this train car, he checked his other weapons as he listened for the sound of each. All of his weapons were there. I was everything from his bow and arrows to his kunai and shuriken. Everything seemed to be in working order. It wasn’t like him to leave without his small arsenal or weapons. The fact that he drew his axe made him wonder what he would do next as far as taking on his opponent. He wasn’t sure what his opponent was capable, but he wouldn’t seem to have to wonder much longer. Samuru turned to see his opponent riding on railcar close to him. Samuru eyed the young man that stood away from him. The guy couldn’t have been much older than a teenager. Though, his height made him look a couple of years older to him than he may have been.

Once he watched his opponent begin forming hand seals, he started forming a seal of his own. This was a start. He wanted to end the fight early, but started to have a change of heart. Unlike his spars with Xiao, he wouldn’t gradually move up later with higher jutsu. Samuru decided that it was time to act with great decisiveness as white raiton began covering his teeth. White raiton had fired toward his opponent in a 2m width stream. He then quickly followed it up with a quick shot of Shock Bullets from his free hand. Samuru’s hand formed the shape of a finger gun. With his left index and middle finger outstretched, he fired nine consecutive shots toward his opponent. Four shots were aimed for his opponent’s head as the remaining five were aimed for his opponent’s midsection.

Samuru then quickly looked to another car as he timed his jump landing with his knees slightly bent going the opposite direction and a bit further away from his opponent. The railcar was going into the tunnel and he didn’t want to find out what would happen if he went with it. This was definitely interesting to say the least. Though, he wondered what would happen next. Samuru didn’t always test his opponents, but he felt that these exams shouldn't be easy. The railcars would make it a bit difficult to use some of his techniques, but it wasn’t anything he was complaining about.

He then started forming additional hand seals seeing what would happen next as he rested the axe on his shoulder. Samuru already started to plan what he would do. For now, he was going to keep his distance. This fight needed to be interesting. He would be a little bit discouraged if his opponent wasn’t able to handle a little bit of lightning. Though, his white raiton was something different and unique to his clan. It made him wonder if should actually attempt to hit him with something a bit harder with his next one. Samuru figured that there was no love lost between him and his opponent. Not that he understood the concept of love. It was definitely a strange saying and almost unnatural to him.

As Biru rode the train cart toward his opponent and performed his hand signs he noticed a strange light begining to emit from his opponents face. He wondered what sort of strange technique could do that, but he wouldn't have to wait much longer as a stream of white lightning shot from his mouth right at Biru. Biru sprinted to his right the opposite way that the train was going which made he appear much faster than he actually was. Getting out of the way from the beam of lightning seemed to be rather easy from the distance they were from each other, but that wasn't all  that was coming his way. Right after the beam went past him Biru saw his opponent point his figer at him and then shoot nine balls of the same sort of lightning that moved slightly slower. Dropping to his knees Biru slid underneath the balls of lightning  coming toward him and then rolled toward the back edge of the train cart he was on before rolling completely off the side out of sight from his opponent.

Biru was attached to the side of the train cart like a spider and he then pressed himself off of that cart as it was now beging to enter the tunnel it was heading for. Sticking to another cart that was behind him and riding back toward the center of the arena. Biru quickly pulled himself up on to the top of that cart and finished the jutsu he had performed the hand seals for. Anyone who wasn't familiar with the technique would think their eyes were playing a trick on them as moisture in the air quickly began to solidify and form figures. Within an instant there now appeared to be 7 Biru's standing on top of the train cart he was riding. Each one identical in every way possible. As the cart they were on carried them closer toward their opponent 3 of them jumped off on to a different cart heading toward Samuru's left. Then 2 of them headed straight forward jumping from cart to cart right at Samuru. The last 2 headed off to Samuru's right jumping from cart to cart as quickly as they could. As they began to move and spread out it seemed their intention was to try and close in on Samuru from different angles and give him less opportunity to move around.

Samuru watched from the direction that his opponent would have been from before he, himself, changed trains. As he checked his surroundings clones started to come for him as he ended the sequence of hand seals he started. Samuru watched as the clones started to come toward around him. The Hatake would of laughed it he had any form bone for humor in his body. He wanted to just wipe them out as quickly as he could. The first clones he saw were the ones that were coming up on his left. Samuru figured that he wasn’t going to be able to take all of them on simultaneously. The clones seemed to be sort of spread out to surround him which wouldn’t good for him, necessarily. It would be just a minor inconvenience. He formed single handed seals while releasing static from his body. He needed to make sure that others weren’t going to attack him from behind as he switched cars by using one of his sensory techniques.

There was no way that he was going to wait around and let them force him out of the playing field. He would move toward the ones that were coming for him on his left. He decided to sheathe his axe back on its rightful place on his back They had yet to get close to him as he would move to another train that was going in the opposite direction as he was intending to in the beginning. He formed more hand seals as he fired a 1m wide wave of lightning from his hands at one of his opponent's clones as he passed their train. Samuru wanted to try and take out at least one of them as he passed.

Samuru then put up a suiton barrier around him with a couple of hand seals as he stood on the train trying to contemplate what he would do next. There wasn’t much he could do without wasting a lot of chakra. It wasn’t like there wasn’t enough for him to not go all out. The train cars made it a bit difficult as far as movement than he anticipated. Samuru took a knee on the train he was and waited to see what his opponent would do next. He was outnumbered which sucked, but he figured that he should have just attacked all out when he had the chance. It was a mistake that he wouldn’t make again. He still had other things he could do, but he didn’t want to waste what he had on clones if he didn’t have to. Samuru was also wondering why his opponent was being some passive. Then a thought occurred to him. Why didn’t he just destroy the train car that he was on. It was an idea, but he would continue to play this little game some more.

Biru's and his clones moved in perfect unison as they split up and began making their move. The 3 that had set off toward the left of Samuru were well on their way making sure to keep a nice distance between them so that one attack couldn't take out all 3 of them at the same time. Then Samuru began moving toward them and ifred off a beam of lightning shortly after hopping on to another cart and heading back the way he had come from. The beam was unfortunately for Biru perfectly timed and made contact with one of them right as he was in mid air jumping to the next cart. The beam cut right through the clone and water dispersed in the air as Samuru made his escape from the previously 3 and now 2 Biru's. The other 2 Biru's continued on their course altering it slighty to keep themselves close enough to Samuru to strike. Then they saw something unexpected Samuru surrounded himself with a barrier made of water and went down on to one knee. That is when they made their move and jumped on to the same car that Samuru was on being only 10 meters to his left. One of them raised their hand to it's mouth and the other took a fighting stance.

The 2 Biru's that were heading straight for Samuru made it to their target unimpeded as they witnessed their opponent go down on to a knee surounded by a barrier they stopped on a car that was headding the same direction as the one Samuru was on about 10 meters away. One of them raising his hand to his mouth and the other raising his hand toward Samuru. The 2 Biru's that had made their way to Samuru's right landed on the same cart that he was on 10 meters away also. One of them raised one of its hands to its mouth and the other took a fighting stance that was the same Biru had taken to begin the fight. All three grouped had been moving at the same time so they all got in to position around Samuru at the same time.

Anyone watching would be able to see that Biru and his clones were just now past the center area of the arena leaving only about 40 meters of space between Samuru's back and the platform he had initially left to start the fight. They were also almost exactly in the middle of the arena in terms of the width leaving 40 meters to either side of the Biru's that had surrounded Samuru. Now that all of the Biru's were in place the 3 that had raised a hand to their mouth (one from each group of 2) would spew out powerful torrents of water from their mouths aimed directly at the kneeling Samuru. If they made contact with his barrier jutsu the combination of all 3 jutsu would break his barrier but also be nullified from doing any damage to Samuru himself. Whether that happened or not there would also be 6 senbon that were created from moisture in the air and hardened into ice almost instantly above Samuru that came flying downwards from various angle to try and create as little room as possible for an escape without at least being hit by 1 or 2 of  the senbon. The senbon were launched so that they would make contact shortly after the beams of water had collided with the barrier of water and hopefully slip past his defenses.

In the hands of the other Biru that was right in front of Samuru who hadn't shot water from his mouth there were 2 more senbon one in each hand being held like a long thin dagger. Once all the jutsu had been launched the 2 Biru's who had taken a fightinng stance (one on each side of Samuru) would launch themselves toward Samuru whether he was still in the same spot he had taken the knee in or if he had begun moving. They would move in a way that intersected his location and attack in unison. The 3 Biru who had fired streams of water at Samuru and the one with 2 ice senbon in his hands would begin hopping to different train carts following along with Samuru. Keeping a tight perimeter and not allowing Samuru to move forward or break containment to his left or right without having to go through at least one of them to eascape.

Samuru watched as the Biru's surrounded him. He figured that it was either fight or flight. Samuru was pretty confident that he didn’t need to run, but this train ride wouldn’t last forever. He could respect the tenacity that his opponent ensued toward defeating him. It had been a long time that he was in a tight spot like this. The last time he ended up in a similar predicament had been when he was growing up in the Land of Demons. Though, he wasn’t some slinky kid that could barely defend himself anymore. At least he wasn’t as bored like he was at the beginning of the match. This was definitely interesting. There wasn’t going to be that he would let get in his way or so he told himself.

“I don’t like sharing,” he stated as the Biru’s hopped on to his train.

The ronin made sure to keep track of his distance between his current location and the edge of the train. Samuru also paid attention to the vibrations the other trains passing them made within the twenty meters of his raiton sense. His enemies were now before him as he drew his axe and rested the blade on his shoulder. A few Biru's then burst out torrents of water from their mouths from various directions. Before they released their technique, Samuru enhanced his legs with cerulean lightning while also using the supernatural walking technique. His suiton barrier technique shattered as he began moving forward, but it was only the beginning. Samuru would bolt straight toward the two opponents that were in front of him. As he moved forward, he would swing his axe in front him. At mid swing he would release a wave of white raiton as he would stop two meters from the two clones. He would barely miss the senbon due to the speed he was traveling. Samuru preformed these moves in attempt to take out the two targets that tried to ride his current train.

He sensed two other Biru's attempting to pincer him within his sensory technique. Samuru would let them come within two meters of him before yelling “osu” while yellow raiton shot all around from his body within 3 meters of him in all directions. The raiton had the ability to cause minor 2nd degree burns to the targets within range. In the event that he was successful or not, he would hop a couple of meters backward before jumping toward the train adjacent to him on the left that was going in the same direction. As he leaped into the air, he would draw a kunai lacing it with raiton chakra with his left hand and throwing it toward the Biru's chest, via an upward motion, that was on the train he attempting to land on. He would then bound off of that train to hop onto another train going the opposite direction of whatever was left of the Biru's brigade. The direction he would travel in would move back toward the center of the field of play as he had already started nearing the arena’s barriers. Samuru would then flourish his axe from side to side before resting it on his shoulder.

“Now that’s what I'm talking about.” he would waited to see what his opponent would do next.

As Biru's assault was taking place and the water from his 3 clones jutsu were colliding with the barrier Samuru had put up he noticed something. The water was breaking far too close to himself for Samuru to have stayed in place or retreated. Samuru was actually coming straight toward Biru and it was incredibly fast. Before Biru could react Samuru was already bursting through the wall of water that been created between them from the collision of all the water techniques. Appearing right in front of Biru swinging his axe though obviously too far away to make contact with the blade. That's when the blade of Samuru's axe began to spark while in mid swing then unleashed a charge of lightning coming straight for Biru and his clone. Biru attempted to move to his left and get his clone in front of him to absorb the hit, but he wasn't quick enough with the attack being launched from such a close distance.

Struck by the force of Samuru's attack Biru's clone dispersed in to thousands of tiny water droplets. The real Biru was also struck diagonally across his chest by the blast. Seering pain came over Biru as his momentum carried him off of the edge of the train car and falling toward the ground. The pain began to subside soon as a strange numbness overcame the area that had been struck. It felt as if a million tiny needles were prickling his bare chest that was now exposed in the are thatwas affected. Out of pure instinct Biru reached out with his right hand trying to grab ahold of anything to save himself from elimination. Coating his hand in chakra Biru made contact with a solid metal bar on the train car passing behind where he was previously standing and adhereed to it like he was super glued to it. Being dragged along with the cart only a few feet from the ground.

Meanwhile back on top of the train the two clones that attempted to sneak attack Samuru from behind a he charged forward were somehow detected. A bright flash of yellow light would emit from Samuru as he yelled "OSU!" and then powerful electrical energy would envelope the two clones who were to close in proximity and couldn't stop their momentum in time to evade the unexpected attack. Dispersing in to fine droplets of water that would likely create a nice misting for Samuru against his skin cooling him slightly. By the time all of this had happened the othe two clones who had fired water trumpet techniques at Samuru would be alert to what was happening and backing off in an attempted regroup and then attack again. While one of them was retreating the kunai Samuru had embued with lightning chakra would fly toward him. Narrowly dodging the kunai and continuing on it's way to regroup with the other clone near the edge of the  arena that Samuru had entered from.

After pulling himself up to a standing position the real Biru rode the train car he had managed to grab ahold of all the way toward the eastern edge of the arena before hoping on to the side of another car that was heading back toward the western side. He looked down at his chest as it was dripping blood. He could tell the wound was about and inch deep and crossed his chest completely coming from his right shoulder and then at a downward angle between his pecks and finishing out right where his rib cage started on his left side. He wasn't sure how much longer this numbing effect would last but he knew he wasn't going to be able to fight much longer after it wore off. Attempting to keep himself hidden he pulled closer to the train car and began to think of ways that he could try and finish this fight off quickly.

“I’ll guess I’ll have to hunt you down.”

Samuru watched as his opponent didn’t seem to follow him. There was a slight disappointment in his tone. Though, it wasn’t how he really felt. Samuru wanted to go ahead and finish it. He knew that he at least dwindled down the opponent's advantage of numbers. This match had gone on for longer than he planned. The crowd probably wes having more fun than he was. Whatever fun actually was. If keeping himself busy was fun, then this would meet the challenge. He wasn’t upset that his opponent hadn’t given up. Pushing through your limits was something that he could appreciate. If there was no drive, only death would await you in the real shinobi world. He knew that from experience. Many had fallen to him because they lacked the will to push forward. The drive to keep moving would save many shinobi if they had that kind of resolve.

Samuru jumped to another train car as he headed back in the opposite direction that he was heading. He would then jump train to train as he would push himself toward the three Biru. As he would move toward his targets he would start performing one handed seals as he completed them as he would attempt to land on a train traveling the same direction as the bleeding Biru. The ronin would stand 10m away from his main target. Samuru noticed the injured Biru and thought to himself that this was the real one. It would make it easier to strike fast and efficient to end this madness of train hopping.

“Unlimited Power!” he would say as red colored lightning enveloped him his entire body.

The mass of red raiton chakra around his body would form into a large dragon. The color was purely cosmetic, but it gave his jutsu flare. It was nothing compared to the crimson lightning of his clan. The dragon would launch toward the bleeding Biru with a mighty force that was capable of fracturing bone and electrocuting his target. This would be his trump card to end the match or so he thought. Samuru was actually quite curious to see if his opponent would be able to match the tenacity his technique at such a close range. Samuru was quite pleased with the results of the match from a strategic standpoint. This was the most action he had gotten in months. The match was in no way, shape, or form regretful. He was actually content that he was able to fight in the exams. If his opponents fought like this, he would be fine with moving up the ladder.

After completing his jutsu he would jump back to the train car behind him going the opposite direction, as he hoped that his previous technique would end it. He would then draw his bow and a Peruna arrow from his quiver. He would watch to see what awaited him next. The effort that he and his opponent had put forth were worthy of praise. Whichever village Biru came from, he figured that they should be proud to have him as a shinobi to represent them. Samuru also knew he wouldn’t be able to burn chakra like this forever. He would need to alternate his strategy slightly to reserve the remainder of his chakra.

As Biru rode the side of the train car toward his clones his wound continued to bleed. The tingling sensation still hadn't left the area, but he was sure it would soon and then the real pain would kick in. Turning to keep his back against the side of the car Biru watched the tops of the trains for any sight of Samuru. He had exhausted nearly all of his chakra and jutsu so any chance he had of winning would have to come down to taijutsu. Biru still held of his ice senbon in his left hand and  was ready to throw it at a moments notice. His clones would begin moving toward Samuru as they noticed he was searching for  the real Biru. However having reteated so ar they were nearly 40 meters away at this point and with no jutsu left to spew they too were confined to the option of taijutsu as well. They moved as quickly as they could hoping to close the gap in time to intercept Samuru before he found the real Biru.

Then it happened, Samuru landed on the train cart right in front of the real Biru and glanced down. There was no mistaking that Samuru had seen him either as he yelled out  and then coating himself in a red aura of lightning. The lightning began to rise and form the head of a dragon then elongate outward and up over Samuru's body like a guardian watching over his shoulder. Biru knew just from the sight of it this jutsu was more powerful than anything he had in his arsenal. The Biru clones were still about 20 meters away from Samuru when all of this began and had no hope of reaching them before the conclusion of what looked to be the final clash of these two shinobi. Then with a flick of his wrist Biru launched the icy senbon he held in his left hand upward and toward Samuru. The nearly translucent needle flew through the air effortlessly aimed right for Samuru's throat right as his red dragon burts forward and coming downward over his shoulder and rocketing right for Biru creating a bright crimson light as it arced throught the air.

Biru then exhaled and a strong burst of wind flowed from his mouth upward at Samuru and his red dragon jutsu. However the stream was aimed just slightly below the path of the dragon jutsu and instead created a sort of pocket around the senbon speeding its movement and pushing it upward at it target even faster. The stream released from from Biru's mouth pushed him backwards against the train cart even harder making any attempt at escape impossible now. The red dragon's mouth opened wide just before impact creating an affect that looked like the dragon had swallowed him whole and collided with Biru's body. A loud booming sound could be heard for several hundred meters from the impact. Then the sound of crashing glass and sheering metal as smoke rose from the the site of the detonation. Pieces of the train car that Biru was holding himself up against were scattered about and Biru's clones fell apart dropping in to puddles of water on top of the train car they were currently on before the trains ran out of the arena and in to the tunnels.

Soon enough the site of the impact would become visible as the smoke cleared. There on the ground amongst the wreckage of the train cart that had also been destroyed by Samuru's jutsu laid Biru. Unconscious and severly burned his clothing was fried to a crisp exposing most of his torso and having ripped his pants in certain areas as well. Biru's facial wraps had been burnt enough to unravel and showed his young pale face covered in soot. The crowd grew quiet and waitied for an announcement from one of the proctors as it appearred that Samuru had won by knocking out Biru and ringing him out all in the same move. As far as what happened with Biru's last ditch effort to at least draw blood if not possibly force a tie before his demise he would have to wait for his answer until he recieved medical aid and regained consciousness.

Samuru had escaped basically intact. Though, when he tried to speak his words were jumbled. He looked down as a senbon of ice was sticking out of the side of his map. That was a lucky shot. Not many people were able to land a hit on him. Samuru reached up and pulled it out tossing it to the side. Blood drained down his neck, but he wasn’t too bothered by it. He was pretty convinced that it hadn't gone deeper than a normal senbon, but it actually did. The fact that he was still able to talk after removing the senbon. It more than likely just hit a nerve. He was glad that it was the only thing it hit or so he hoped.

The train he was in began to come to a halt as did the others he hopped from train to train as he would land on the platform. The crowd was speechless. It was like a pen could be heard across the arena. Some spectators looked on in horror as others were a little upset. As the Arena was silent, Samuru would sheath his bow and his Peruna arrow in their rightful place. He looked down as blood had begun leaking over the platform. Samuru moaned a bit at the damage to his body. It shouldn’t scar, but it was a bit annoying. The ronin started to exit as medical-nin began to sweep on to the scene. He would turn around and face the crowd as he attempted to clear his throat.

“I declare my allegiance to Kirigakure no Sato!” he yelled as he walked away.

It wasn’t probably the best time to do that, but he would make his intentions known trying to get the attention of the Mizukage. He has spent the past few months in her village. Samuru wouldn’t represent himself anymore. Perun would now represent the Village HIdden in the Mist from this point onward. He would represent the village throughout the duration of the chuunin exams. Samuru didn’t know what would come of his declaration, but he knew that he needed to continue to get stronger. He would take the advice of his distant family and join a village. Whatever this thing he couldn’t feel, was strange. The road before his was a long one. He would promise himself that it wouldn’t be cut short.

As the quietness of the crowd began to linger on a little too long one of the proctors for the exams landed next to Biru's unconscious body and gave him a quick look before announcing to the spectators "The winner is Yoshimatsu, Samuru." Then stepped aside as medical ninja rushed on to the stage and cleared the debris from around Biru's limp body. While they cleared the area one of medical shinobi held their hands over Biru's chest and began emitting a faint green light. The soft warm glow of the jutsu being perfomed slowly began to seal the deep cut on Biru's chest and stop the bleeding. Many of the Medical ninja had worried looks on their faces as they saw how pale Biru's skin was and how cold he felt to the touch. Yet a more thorough examination would show he still had a heart beat and was breathing ever so slightly. After the area was cleared a stretcher was brought out and Biru was carefully lifted on to it then moved out of the arena and to the nearest Konohagakure hospital.
