Round Three: Yoshimatsu Samuru vs. Raiu Yasuke IYbJonR

Entered from the North and South, this dusty arena is beset by howling, gale force winds from the East to West. Contestants in this arena running in the same direction of the wind have their speed increased by 10m/s, while those moving against the current will have their movement speed decreased by 10m/s. This effect is conferred to projectiles and jutsu speeds alike. However, these winds are not natural, and instead generated by jutsu used by proctors instructed to change the direction of the gust: each posting round, the direction of the wind reverses (East to West, then West to East, then East to West again, etc)

POSTING ORDER
1 - Samuru
2 - Yasuke

24 HOUR POST TIMER BEGINS FOR SAMURU 24 HOURS AFTER THIS POST

Samuru walked out onto the field. He looked at the one of the proctors as the woman would give him a thumbs up. Another battle he would be thrown into. His opponent’s so far had been interesting. Entertaining, wouldn’t really be the word he would use. The first match was against an ice user. It went by a little too quickly for his liking. The Yuki he fought against had a strong determination that he had to admire. Samuru almost lost the fight due to the fact that he almost didn’t have enough time to react to his opponent’s plan. Though, he ended it with a literal bang that took his opponent out of play. The second match was against some weird guy that used barriers. That didn’t go to well. He knew that he had slipped up on that last match. He believed for that to be a fluke. He wouldn’t allow that to happen again if he were to face his opponent again.

Samuru made it out toward the middle of a windy field. All of his weapons had been in place. If the field would be split in half, he would have been standing 20 meters from the center. He noticed as he walked that his walking was a bit conflicted. It seemed like he had to force his body to move differently. It moved slower than what he was used to. The winds blowing the grass and the sound in his ears hinted to him that it was the wind that was causing this. He stood on the North side of the arena as the wind moved left to right. Samuru was ready and his body was prepared. He figured that he would make this a long distance batle. Looking down at his hand, he flowed raiton through it as he noticed the slight distortions in the lightning around it. He grunted in a low tone, “Cerulean Raiton it will be. Maybe even White.”

This fight better have been interesting. Samuru was glad that he was finally put on even ground. On this field, he wouldn’t be too out of place. Wind would be nothing to him. This would be the end of the exams if he lost this. Samuru was confident. His body was strong and his pride was stronger. He was a Hatake a man birthed from struggle. Combat is where he dominated. No matter long range or close range, he would overpower his opponent. This was the time for him to show his power to the fullest. No one, not wind or man would prevent him from seeking out total victory.

Yasuke would be at the entrance on the opposite side of the arena, as he would wait for the proctor to give him the go ahead. The proctor then waved her hand signaling Yasuke to enter, Yasuke would gently nod his head at the proctor confirming her gesture. As soon as the proctor opened the door noticeable gusts of wind would escape, Yasuke then began to slowly strut into the arena once inside, the door would shut behind him immediately. Yasuke would begin walking toward the center as he would take in the environment, this battlefield would be a pretty open terrain overall, a few hills here and there with bushes and flowers sprouting in abundance. Yasuke would walk up to a bush and break off a chunk a bit larger than his torso, thus sending chakra into it an placing it back into the bush. This was a fail safe method which Yasuke had always used just in case.

Yasuke would then continue walking in a straight path to towards the center of the arena, by this time Yasuke had noticed that the wind that had been generated in the arena was rather consistent. Yasuke would conclude this was some type of machinery, or in fact ninjutsu being used either was Yasuke could use this as an aid in battle. While walking Yasuke would test a quick theory as he grabbed a kunai with one hand and a couple shuriken in the other, he would toss both into the air, letting the air carry each item for a few seconds before catching them and placing them back in his pouch. Yasuke learned a few things, how fast the wind was blowing he gauged it was somewhere between 8 to 10 m/s, he also learned how much resistance it gave to projectiles and his own body as well. Lastly but certainly not least Yasuke would be able to tell that the wind was blowing from the east, from the south entrance in which he walked in it would be coming from his right side.

Yasuke continued walking finally reaching the 50 meter mark from center field as a figure came in to view and as Yasuke closed the distance between the two he would get a clear image of a man with blonde hair and blue eyes much like his. Yasuke would stop leaving about 40 meters between the two as he noticed the mans hand glow with a cerulean chakra it flowed with a strong similarity in which raiton did. Yasuke was up against an older foe once again his last battle with Bau he had been bested by exerting more chakra and  reaching the time deadlline which caused his opponent to win by a point difference. Yasuke second match was nothing short of a match as his opponent was  immobile to begin but Yasuke used this time to rest and train a bit, however this match would be different he had all of Kumokagure riding on his back and he couldn't let his village down. Yasuke began to draw some chakra for a basic technique to test his opponents abilities

"Yo, I'm Raiu, Yasuke of Kumogakure, best of luck to you, but I have to take you down"

Yasuke would shout with a thumbs up and a smile on his face, as he would immediately draw 2 shuriken tossing them toward the east in the perfect trajectory to line up with his opponent. The shuriken would start out slow but as soon the wind affected their path flipping their trajectory they would take off propelling at 20 m/s. He would use his technique to add a velocity of 10 m/s with an assisted 10 m/s from the elements provided by the arena the projectiles would be aimed at the targets torso but when they reached 8 meter from their target one shuriken would ricochet off the other causing the path of both to change now one aimed at his head, the other aimed 5 meters ahead of his current position where his lower leg would be near his calf muscle. Yasuke had began to draw more chakra in preparation if his opponent intended to parry both shuriken and counter Yasuke's attack.

Samuru watched as his opponent finally arrived across the arena. He watched as his opponent walked up to a large bush. It made him wonder if he was a Senju. Though, that didn’t seem to be the case as the boy introduced himself as Raiu, Yasuke of Kumogakure. Oh, another advanced element user. Just his luck, a Ranton user. These foes weren’t getting any better. This match he wasn’t going to play around. The only thing that would get in his way would be himself. He wondered what his opponent would do to stop the mighty Perun. It wasn’t long before he found out. Samuru had already begun attempting to run forward fighting the wind that was blowing side to side.

His opponent in front of him threw shuriken at him. Samuru wondered why would his opponent throw shuriken with a crosswinds moving the way it was. Plus, the distance between the two of them didn’t make much sense. That was until he realized that he was throwing into the wind. The redheaded sighed as he drew his axe and started spinning it like a pinwheel. The shuriken were deflected off of his large weapon as he started moving forward. He made it about 10m from his previous spot before performing a single one handed seal. Samuru would continue to attempt to run forward being perpendicular to the wind. A large cerulean dragon emerged from his body as he was now 20m from his opponent. The dragon moved forward toward his opponent. The technique would normally travel at 35m/s being enhanced with cerulean raiton, but it would travel at 25m/s with the crosswinds. He wondered how his opponent would deal with it.

“Begone, worm.”

Samuru planned to start this match off strong. He cared not for pleasantries. This was an exam. He refused to fail or give up this time around. Samuru knew that he would need to get closer than where he currently was to truly end this competition. There was no time for games and he wasn’t going to toy around this match. He would continue to move forward until he made it 10m from the very center of the field to space about 20m from his previous spot. There, Samuru would stop and drop to one knee leaning his body forward.

Yasuke would already be on the move shortly after tossing his shurkien moving in 7 m/s bursts(D2) panning to his right against the wind while closing in on his opponent approximately 10 meters and diagonally 7 meters to his opponents right. His shuriken would not hit as his opponent deflected it with an axe, as expected he had good reflexes. His opponent began moving forward in a straight line as he would form a hand seal and continue running he would be at about the 10 meter mark utilizing the Lightning Dragon Missile technique one that Yasuke had seen before many times being from Kumogakure of course. However, this would be cerulean colored as Yasuke expected his opponent used a cerulean raiton, something he had never seen before he had to be careful. By the time Yasuke knew it the dragon was flying past him at an incredible speed, good thing he wasn't in direct path of the technique as he truly dodged a missile in this case.

Yasuke's opponent continued traveling forward now directly in front of where Yasuke stood when he first engaged his opponent, but since he panned into the wind to his right 7 meters Yasuke would be 7 meters to the right of the man as he would kneel. In that same instance Yasuke would feel the wind shift completely as the breeze now flowed from west to east, against Yasuke's back this would give him an advantage if used correctly. Yasuke would use his still connected chakra strings he had attached to his shuriken he previously threw to control them both ripping them out of the groundand pulling them toward himself before letting the wind guide them again with it's 10 m/s assist toward his opponents back who was only 7 meters away but Yasuke would shuffle back another 7 meters as his shurken would close in on his target who would still be kneeling both aimed at his lower back. Now with 15 meters between the two and the wind now against his opponent Yasuke would take note of how long the wind would stay before it shifted again he was sure it worked on an interval.

Samuru watched as his opponent narrowly avoided his attack. The dragon collided into the barrier that was set up around the arena to protect the bystanders. Though, he wouldn’t just allow him to do what he wanted. This was interesting enough, but he wondered how long his opponent was going to keep this up. Contorting his face a bit as his opponent got close enough to him, Samuru moved forward powering his leg muscles with cerulean raiton chakra. With the wind against him and his opponent at the moment being 7m away from him, he would move at 30m/s toward his opponent instead of his normal 40m/s. The short distance between them would make this in his favor. Noticing his opponent’s hand motions, he charged toward his opponent swing his axe toward his opponent’s mid-section as he would move through the swing. This would be in an attempt to cut and carry his opponent with him as he would move 20m forward before shifting the blade upward. The Hatake would then shift the blade toward his opponent’s chin carving flesh with it if successful.

The redhead was thirsty to end this match. The timing of his attack was well thought through. It would allow him to interrupt whatever his opponent was planning at that moment. Samuru prided himself in close range combat. He wished to show his opponent why getting in close proximity to him was a bad idea. This match may have well been over, but he wasn’t sure what his opponent was capable of and knew not to get cocky. Pride was the downfall of many shinobi. He figured that it would take more than that to break his opponent down. It seemed like his opponent was just as determined as he was. Samuru appreciated determination from both sides. It made things a bit more interesting. If he had any emotion to fuel him, he would have been more appreciative of his current opponents thus far. He wanted this match to end faster. Long drawn out matches were usually fun for him, but he found no interest in letting this go on too much longer.

Yasuke would watch as his shuriken would close in on his opponents back, before his legs began to glow a cerulean color and he would seemingly disappear, moving that fast in a instant closing the gap between the two. Yasuke now had come to the conclusion that this cerulean colored raiton was something of a speed enhancer as it not only helped increase his opponents speed, but also the speed of his techniques as he had seen before the dragon missile move at speeds such faster than he was use to seeing back home in the village. Yasuke would now have his opponent in front of him engaging him with his axe swinging at his torso, his opponents legs moved with incredible speed but that's all, although leaving Yasuke without enough time or room to evade he could only intercept the blow and do as much as he can. Yasuke would already have his arms extended he would slightly move them attempting to grab the handle of the axe where his opponent wasn't holding, he would then lock the elbows of his fully extended arms if successful this would only give Yasuke a leeway of 2 inches between the blade and he torso. This would be a battle of strength and who could or would over power who.

Yasuke would now have his hands locked with a firm grip on the axe stopping the motion of the swing, but not the momentum of the drive as he would be carried back from this. Yasuke however would have already been drawing chakra he would release it in a stream of water which at the range they were at would cover his opponents body from head to toe. This water wouldn't be normal it would have a high viscosity causing it to be very sticky, by the time Yasuke would have been pushed back by the his opponent to the 20 meter mark he would notice his speed drop -1 tier. As he opponent stopped his would shift the axe and drive it upward, in that same instance Yasuke would jumped up hands still locked and place both feet on the handle of the axe thus, using the momentum of the swing to aid him in flipping backward through the air landing 10 meters away from his opponent. Yasuke would then use the chakra strings once more pulling the shuriken out the ground where they were stuck aiming them once gain at his opponents. Yasuke would pull his 3rd shuriken out of his pouch and toss it at his opponents chest.

As the redhead ronin moved quickly toward his target, his opponent would catch his bladed weapon, but was that truly the best he had? Samuru wouldn’t appreciate this as he would continue moving straight forward. He pushed his opponent back 20m as his technique ended. His legs wouldn’t act like he wanted as his opponent attempted to maneuver himself as he continued to hold onto his axe. Samuru screamed, “OSU!” before his opponent jumped backward as a bright 3m x 3m squared sphere of yellow raiton formed around him moving at 10m/s due to the wind’s direction. If successful, he would have dealt minor 2nd degree burns to his opponent.

Samuru making his moves had a separate problem all together. His opponent seemed to have hit him with a sticky substance. It made his legs a bit slower, but he didn’t care. Stopping him from moving faster would only be a small hindrance. It wasn’t like he absolutely needed to attack at close range. Though, it did help with the way the winds were changing. Samuru would then form a couple of half hand seals with his left hand before creating a suiton barrier around him. The barrier would take on a 3m by 3m clear sphere as water would form visible ripples. The older man would place his axe on his shoulder as he would wait within his barrier to see what his opponent would do next. The barrier would block basic attacks, so he would be safe from his opponent’s lack of chakra enhanced ninja tools. Samuru felt quite comfortable within his barrier as he would use it to give him time to plot his next assault or some decent strategy. The sledge around his feet would make it a bit minorly difficult to move around, but he would walk 5m to the left. He knew that it would only be a few moments before the substance would harden. It would be easier to sit in his barrier and wait for it to harden and disperse it than to run around with it attached to his body.

His opponent started to make things more interesting. Samuru thought that the young lad would definitely make a decent team leader. Not too many opponent’s thought about attempting to immobilizing him in his lifetime and two of them were within these exams. Samuru would be quite interested in how these next few moments would play out. There wasn’t much he could do until after the sticky substance did its thing. Plus, he didn’t want to burn up all his chakra like he did last match. That definitely hurt him in the end. The chuunin exams weren’t a worthless endeavor. They helped him to think outside of the box. It was one of the reasons why he preferred live combat than simple training. These scenarios were more realistic and helped one grow further than one normally would outside of combat. Samuru believed that combat was one of the better forms of training. Learning patience and techniques was one thing, but live combat stimulated the brain, body, and spirit.

Yasuke would have pushed off his opponents axe, only to notice raiton chakra glowing from his opponents body, by this time Yasuke would be mid air contorting his body into a flip. As the perimeter began to expand very quickly a clone would appear in between Yasuke and his foe quickly extending it's arms pushing Yasuke in the back and out of the range of the technique if successful. However, for the clone it would intercept the attack cancelling it out sacrificing itself for the creator, in that same instance after 3 more clone would appear 2 behind his foe about 2 meters directly him and the 3 would appear where Yasuke was going to land as he would still be falling out of the air. The 2 clones that appeared behind his opponent would quickly attempt to subdue the foe by each grabbing one side of his body and attempting to keep him held still before he would be able to form handseals.

If all went successful Yasuke would finish his motion for his backflip as the clone he had summoned would catch him mid air and launch him toward his opponent who would be subdued not only by the clones but also the water that still covered his opponent from head to toe as it would be nearly completely hardened constricting the movements of any body part that got covered. Yasuke hand would be glowing with raiton chakra releasing an wave of lightning at point blank range coupled with the speed and force of Yasuke traveling so fast. This attack would be aimed at his opponents chest it wouldn't be fatal but enough to put him down, if all went as planned Yasuke would stand over his opponent as his clones would be pinning the man down to the ground drawing a kunai and kneeling putting it to the mans neck Yasuke would smirk.

"This match is over, I'm not a killer but don't push me"

Official Ruling wrote:It is difficult to time the interval between when Samuru uses Kiai to create an area of electricity and when he creates a barrier around him, and Samuru has a 3 tier lead in Reaction Time.

Thus, Yasuke likely couldn't create the clones in the window between the 3m area around Samuru being a zone that could have vaporized them instantly, and when he created the sphere of water. Given this, Samuru has time to retake the battle's flow with his varied repertoire of projectile, melee, and homing jutsu.

The flow of the battle has been fairly even, but Samuru simply has a wider repertoire of jutsu with which to overtake his opponent, especially while his opponent's jutsu are on cooldown.

Samuru takes the bout.
