The heavy rains that beat down on her didn't deter Kotone from the current task at hand. The young kunoichi's face remained as stone, unmoving in the face of the pain that was rippling through her body. The strong current that would lead over the waterfalls threatened to knock her back if she didn't maintain her concentration. Out of her siblings she was physically the weakest. Frail and with very limited amounts of stamina, it would be only a matter of time before these problems reared it's ugly head in and would most likely cost her and her team dearly. Taking a deep breath she slowly picked her right foot up and moved it forward. The weights that were placed on her ankles were far too much for her to be able to physically handle, but she knew that she had to get over that hurdle and keep moving forward.

Kotone's training for today would help her build muscle and a resistance of sorts to force and weight, or at least that's what she told herself. The rushing river that led down the waterfall was a constant reminder that if she let it get the best of her she would be swept away and sent down the river and to the bottom of the waterfall. The thought alone strengthened her resolve because that's where she had started this training. With weights that were twice her own weight strapped to her ankles and weights that were halve that on her wrists, it was a wonder that she could move at all. She had started from the bottom of the waterfall, climbing up the wet, slick, rocky wall and falling back down multiple times to the base of it. With each failure she would buckle down and throw herself back at her task, until little by little she made it further and further towards the top. Her goal was to reach the top and make her way safely back towards the village before nightfall.

For someone on the outside looking in they would have thought the training that she undertook would seem too arduous for someone her age, not to mention being a genin straight out of the academy. It would seem that she was pushing her body far too hard but for her she wasn't pushing herself hard enough. She had been soaked for hours from the downpour of rain and the rush of the river's water. It was the late afternoon when she finally planted both feet at the top of the waterfall, and that was saying something since she had been training before the sun even rose. Her feet and hands were pruned, violet locks slicked back from her face, and a fire in her belly that burned like coal in a furnace. She was sore but she didn't feel bad and maybe that had something to do with the water being enriched with nutrients and minerals from the rocks in it. Whatever it was she felt more than accomplished from her training, and the weights that once felt too heavy to move were now slightly less heavy. Now that she had made it to the top of the waterfall, it was time to make it onto dry land and into the village. Kotone had some daylight left but if she didn't hurry she wouldn't enjoy her personal reward for getting this far, and that was the sweet rich taste of teriyaki beef.

It was almost a surprise to Kotone that she could even still see the sun's rays with all the thick, greyish clouds in the sky and the heavy rains. Flashes of lightning and the booming of thunder every now and then caused her heart race to quicken. It was the sort of thing that got her giddy with excitement, a side of her that she wouldn't dare let slip in front of someone else. Deep down she was still a child, things like lights in the sky caused her to watch with awe while the boom sounds that followed made her blood rush causing a stupid smirk to play on her face. It was times like these that she wished she could let her guard down around people but she already felt that she had something to prove to the villagers and other ninja of Iwagakure. She wasn't born in the village and she was constantly reminded of that from others when she messed up in their eyes. It was painful that was for sure and it caused the young girl to wonder about her parents. Sometimes she would curse them for giving her up, other times she would cry about their passing. Each time it was different, a different reason for a different emotion as to why she wasn't with them. But make no mistake this only made her stronger, those that bore down on her with mean hearted words were only shaping the rock within her. All her life she has known nothing but Iwa and she was like them, a Iwagakure ninja through and through.

Being lost in her own thoughts of silent daydreams with her being the best ninja, loved and adored, with the strength to protect what she loves, all the things anyone would want, these thoughts helped push her and without even realizing it she was at the gates of her village. The rains let up and the downpour was nothing more than a mist. She thought about going home and cleaning up before dragging her body into the establishment where they sold her beloved beef teriyaki, but she was too hungry and the thought of the sweet meat was another factor that drew her body to continue moving, like some hypnotic force. With her mind filled with so many thoughts it was easy to ignore that she was moving at a nearly snail's pace. Since all that rain had happened there weren't many people roaming the streets of Iwagakure, mostly patrol ninja and the like. Most ignored her while others gave her a passing look with either confusion or disapproval in their eyes. At this point she didn't make any eye contact with any of them with each step getting her closer to her destination. Kotone could have sworn the scent of the meat alone was filling her body with the strength she needed to keep going. It had to have taken an hour at most before she reached the small shop, a place she had learned to love due to the kind nature of the owners and the superb food they created. It was truly one of the few places she enjoyed in Iwagakure, and as she walked in the little shack of a restaurant, an elderly woman with snow white hair and a heart warming smile was there to greet her.

Now look what we got here. I see you've been working hard.. And it sounds like you've been working too hard on an empty stomach. Oh dear that's no good, come in come in and sit down. I'll whip you up a bowl of the fluffiest white rice and richest beef teriyaki you've ever had! Before Kotone could even say a word the elderly woman's soft voice had started going. All Kotone could do at that moment was smile and take her usual seat near the window of the restaurant. She had been here so frequently that the woman already knew what she wanted but it was the speed of the delivery that nearly caused Kotone to cry. It was true, she had been stupid in going out to train on an empty stomach, thinking it would help her grow strong if she could work past hunger. In a sense she was right, but boy was that not a good idea, it was one of her more least thought out ideas. The savory scent of the meat wafted into her nose before the food itself came out but she had only been in the place for no more than five minutes. It made Kotone wonder if this sweet elderly lady always waited for her to show up. The thought alone was enough to warm Kotone's heart and she could only be thankful.

Here we are darling. Now eat as much as ya need to. Let's get that those energy levels back up. Don't be afraid to call me if you need anything.. Now let this old lady get outta your hair so you can enjoy yourself. Kotone could only smile and nod, picking up her chopsticks she quickly dug into the meat that was glazed beautifully with a sweet and rich sauce that soaked through the rice only enough that she still had regular white rice to balance the flavors. Kotone learned a long time ago that training came in many forms, and eating and resting was some of the most important as the body healed and rejuvenated itself from the rest and nutrients. With each bite of the fluffy rice and melt in your mouth beef, a part of her felt like it was floating away into a different plane of existence. It took her less time to finish the food than it did to get to her and an overhwleming presence of sadness washed over her as she realized her bowl was empty. Uh...Baasan... May I have some more please.

Her words slipped out, meek and embarrassed that she ate that much food in such a short amount of time. Kotone knew that left unchecked she could eat this poor woman out of business. Fortunately for Kotone the woman didn't mind at all. Oh dear, I knew I should have given you more. Don't worry, I've got an even bigger bowl right here for ya. And don't worry your little head about the bill, I know you'll take care of it. Right now let's get you full and on your way. The elderly woman smiled as she placed the bowl in front of Kotone, along with a pitcher of water and a glass. Kotone bowed her head in thanks and without losing another wasting another second without food in her mouth she dug into the bowl. The space between her and the bowl might as well be void as the young girl shoved rice down into her mouth, taking bites of meat just as frequently and only sipping water in order to clear her mouth for space in order to shove more food down her throat. The only thing that stopped her from going any faster was the weights on her wrist. Still even know she was in training as the heavy weights put a strain on her muscles cause her to grunt a bit as she ate through the pain that was baring down on her arms.  She kept reminding herself that this meal was a reward for each bite she took was her powering through the weights on her wrist to eat it.

When all was said and done she was full, full and happy with the results of her training. She helped the elderly woman clean and close up shop once she was done devouring her meal, as she was the only person left in the shop and it had gotten late, far beyond closing time. Kotone enjoyed the time she spent with the elderly woman and thanked her once more for the meal before she headed home, weights still on until she made it inside of the cozy house.
