And once again it was time for the ice princess to go after her diplomatic duties. Verdandi wasn't sure if her aunt took a specific perverted pleasure in sending her to do all these errands, but despite the part of her that was openly complaining about it, a very self-aware part would end up realizing that she deeply enjoyed the plenty amount of attention she was getting from the Mizukage. Not rarely leading to ill-tempered and jealous eyes around her. But that was their problem. If the kage wasn't allowed to have some quality family time then what good was it for Ayakashi to consider herself the mother and caretaker of Kirigakure?

Verd shrugged. She yawned big time. Not from sleeping too little but rather from doing so too much. Scratching her neck and idly slithering her clothed frame onto the back of a rather large, growing polar bear that was by now almost the size of a human in his sheer height from paws to shoulder. Verd enjoyed the fact that her little monster was getting a bit fatty. The extra fluff just added to his wonderful posture and power. Dandi nuzzled her face into her pet's neck as the large bear just casually trotted on. He already knew the way towards the Konoha encampment. Having already accompanied her on the previous mission in the last phase of this 'reclamation project'.

Whilst many seemed to be having troubles with how things were developing Verdandi had a distinct pleasure in what she was doing. Even now when many claimed that the war was failing them. Verd didn't really lost any faith in their ideals. Seeing as how they were at least helping a lot of struggling civilians. Arriving at the Konoha encampment. Verdandi would meet an already battle-ready regime of soldiers. She couldn't see clearly but it must seem like around fifty people were in the group. Various levels of strength however made it questionable how many of them were really worth to count, as evil as it might sound that way.

Verd stepped from her imposing bear, he was yet to become fully adult but his size would leave the puny little soldiers terrified by what the beast could possibly do to them. Verdandi walked past them and inspected their weaponry and armor. She picked out a few that she deemed too young for the service. Sending them back to the camp where they could pick on a less risky task. Not afraid to hurt their pride as long as it kept them safe and allowed them to properly mature into soldiers with an actual chance of survival.

Once all supplies had been evenly distributed among the men. Verd let some of the guards add a little supply belt to Avalanche's back, balancing it with two softly weighted bottles filled with drinking water and a multitude of smaller ones all over the band. Hydration was important in this mission. Verd was to meet the second half of her army on her way to the front lines. She was yet unaware whom might be in charge of the second part. But linking the two units together would actually give them a certain strength even the nasty suna radicals had to consider deeply if they wanted to mess with that.

Verd tugged herself on her water-loaded bear and slowly moved off. The soldiers neatly followed her in a slow but steady pace. Their travels would pass them through the primal dunes of the desert. They would reach checkpoint Charlie in about an hour. Once the units were combined, the actual frontlines were but only a few minutes away. Verdandi wondered what they would end up facing out there. Midst the chaos and destruction of war and wondered if this wild band of soldiers really had what it takes to push forth until you either fail with honour or claim your victory with blood and tears. But Verdandi was in an upbeat mood. The shinobi she was supposed to meet up with, apparently a very renowned man with a high reputation.

She always adored it to meet new faces. Especially supposing strong or famous ones. Best if mixed together into one fine yummy cocktail. Once they arrived at the oasis checkpoint, Verd would first just fall back in line until they moved on to properly set up camp nearby the frontlines. Eventually, before the actual battle. There would be time to talk with her partner and get to know him a little better. Maybe for once it was a friendly chap.

Nayoko

Nayoko

D-rank
Nayoko looked down once again at the scroll he had been given. On it the names of men and women that would be fighting, and possibly dying by his side were written. He knew that as a jounin of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, he should have come to grips with the severity of his position a long time ago. On top of that, being an ANBU Captain for his village, he should not feel so strongly about life and death. And yet as he scanned over the names written on his scroll, he felt a pang of remorse over the loss of life that was bound to occur. He hated war, and now war had come. In the effort to reclaim and rebuild the Village Hidden in the Sands deep within the heart of the Land of Wind, all that had been accomplished was death upon death. The desert sand had now been soaked red with the blood of hundreds of people that had laid down their lives trying to fight for what they believed in. And who was right? Was it his own home, who simply thought Sunagakure no Sato should be left behind so that the people could be focused on? Was it Kumogakure no Sato, who were trying to claim the now destroyed village as their own land? Or was it the independent men and women who just wanted the influence of the ninja world to leave them in peace. They had lot so much already, so why did more blood have to stain their home?

Regardless of his personal thoughts on the matter, Nayoko Hattori was a shinobi first, and in this case, it was his job to believe in what the administration of Konohagakure no Sato told him to believe in.  And so after glancing over the names of his new comrades one last time, the ANBU captain turned open the flap of the tent that he had ben standing in and stepped out into the scorching sunlight of the Land of Wind. He was still not used to the dry heat that constantly permeated all the desert, and despite being that for some time now, Nayoko did not think he would ever grow accustomed to it. In truth, he missed his home. The Land of Fire was so much more verdant than the country that he now found himself in, and by comparison it felt almost barren. He could not help but shake his head as he looked out at the empty expanse before him once again before turning to face the regiment of soldiers that had gathered to be led by him. The first part of his mission was simple; Nayoko was to lead this group of soldiers to a rendezvous point in the desert, check point Charlie, where he would meet up with a ninja from Kirigakure no Sato. The allied nations were to then work together as reinforcements for the actual battles that were occurring across the desert.

It was a simple enough task, but he knew that it was important considering the level of ninja that the higher ups were sending to complete it. Himself being a jounin and his counterpart supposedly of an equivalent rank. He did not know very much about the person he would be meeting; only that she was a kunoichi from the Land of Water and that she was somehow related to the Mizukage, his mentor and teacher, Ayakashi. As he looked over the assembled soldiers before him, Nayoko smirked at how fate had once again brought him to meet someone close to the Demon Ice Witch. Their lives had crossed over many times now, and he was sure that there was no end in sight for the “coincidental” interactions he was experiencing. After going through the thirty or so people that were supposed to be with him and ensuring that all of the name on his list were present and accounted for, the Hattori raised his hand and signalled for them to follow; they had a bit of a walk ahead of them.

The dangers of this mission were not a blade through the heart or a blazing fireball from an enemy shinobi, but they were just as deadly. The jounin found himself coordinating times for his men to eat and drink to make sure that they were all healthy and hydrated for the fight ahead. It was unlike any mission he had taken before, but the change of pace was not unwelcomed. When he finally arrived at checkpoint Charlie, Nayoko was greeted with a slightly larger host of soldiers, along with a young woman standing next to a large bear that seemed very much out of place. Confident that this was the kunoichi he was to meet, Nayoko dismissed the soldiers to set up their camp as well and approached the girl as he lowered his hood and revealed a smile on his face. “Hi there, I’m Nayoko Nozara of Konahagakure no Sato. Are you the kunoichi from Kiri that I’m supposed to meet?”

Verdandi moved past the camp and watched how the second part arrived at checkpoint Charlie. The Konoha forces quickly mixed themselves. With the Kiri-nin. The allied nations having a commonly good understanding and relationship, causing no problems unlike joint operations with the rather paranoid Iwa-nin or the seemingly crazy Kumo-nin. Verd was a bit torn. She had a lot of conflict with Kumo over the course of phase two in Suna's Reclamation Project. But for today. It didn't matter. She would lay eyes upon the handsome lad with the charismatic face. The shimmering golden glint in his eyes was something that both irked and intrigued Verd to begin with. His fancy apparel was something that reminded Verdandi that she had to work on getting her own equipment to that level of standard someday. Scratching her head, she smirked. The eye-patch still covering her left eye. Leaving her partner unaware of what was going on below it.

Verdandi only needed her one healthy eye to get through these missions. She would take care of that little… eye boo boo afterwards. For now, it was more important to get to the gist of the mission. Checkpoint Charlie was a return point the medics would set up camp and remain here for the most part. Only emergency care would be delivered on-field. The wounded would be properly being brought back here. But before they would huddle off, the men had to reorganize their resources and started to gather before the camp. A few guards would remain for the medics but most of the soldiers had to get ready for battle.

Dandi bowed shortly to her companion in this undertaking. "Pleased to meet you, Nayoko-san. I'm Verdandi Yuki and this cuddly 'little' furball here is Avalanche. Tactical officer in the ranks of Kiri's advance forces. It'll be a pleasure to fight by your side." She added bowing again. Not being really much of a good talker, despite that she preferred gestures and actions over words. Avalanche shortly leaned in and sniffed at Nayoko to get familiar with his scent. Bumping his nose to the man seemingly without the slightest worry in the world. However, they would be cut short. One of the leaf-nin moved in. Saluted and reported. "Alpha Squad is reporting massive hits by the enemy at the frontlines. Requesting immediate backup." He commented and Verdandi nodded.

"I guess we'll have to find a proper tea time another day. Let's secure our troops first." She added, giving her bear a little pat on the butt before following right after him. Overtaking and soon speeding her way up the closest sand dune next to the readied forces. The soldiers slowly starting to move. Verd and Nayo would both be starting down at the battlefield before them. The almost thirty enemy forces bullying the remains of the frontline team back further and further. Verd grabbed on Avalanche's leather straps and pulled herself onto his back. "Well I guess I can leave you to your own devices. Be careful… friend…" she grinned and squeezed her thighs to her pet bears hips before the little monster started to charge down the sand dune. Behind Verdandi their soldiers would follow. The ninja in the valley, on both sides would certainly see and hear the incoming reinforcements charging down the dunes. A good dozen D-Rank ninja would move to the side to try and intercept the incoming ninja. At their speed, Nayoko and Avalanche were clearly far ahead of the footmen behind them. Allowing them to clear a path into the moderate mass of enemies. Threatening to squeeze them between them, the footmen behind them and the already, previously retreating village-nin forces.

It didn't take too long until the D-Ranked men would get a clear picture of the white monster that was charging them. Avalanche crashed straight into one of them. The impact along fracturing and breaking the bones of the poor sod. Not even minding him as he moved on to crash into the rest of them. Once nearby Verdandi would jump off his back. Press the little button at the bottom of her blade and activate the weapons second blade layer that brought shark like sawing teeth to its surface. Quickly slicing her way through the masses. Remaining ducked as various blades and projectiles were incoming for her. Ready to slice into their flesh. Carving them apart and leaving them to bleed in their own misery.

Nayoko

Nayoko

D-rank
As his partner to be gave a short bow and introduced herself, Nayoko sized her up, looking her up and down in an attempt to understand what sort of skill set he would be working with on the mission. She seemed ever so slightly underweight, considering that she was a kunoichi who would need have a little bit more muscle mass to fight people hand to hand. That led the Hattori to believe that she probably was more of a speed based fighter rather than one that used brute strength. Even so, from her posture and the tone of her muscles that the jounin could see, he was confident that she was talented at whatever her focus was. From her name Nayoko also assumed that she was able to access the same Kekkei Genkai as the Mizukage herself; Ice Release. It was a powerful advanced nature release that Nayoko had need seen personally in practice other than when being used by Ayakashi, and he did not want to make her ability the basis of his assumption about the blood-given power. Instead, he merely made a mental note of the fact that she probably had a few tricks up her sleeve that he would never be able to learn himself. The last two things that the ANBU captain noticed about the young woman was her eyepatch and her polar bear. Both of these things were unusual, but one of them had teeth and claws that filled Nayoko with confidence rather than trepidation. The eyepatch was a bit of a concern, considering the disadvantage that it would give her in regard to blind spots. But if she was a jounin and she lived without that eye, then she would probably be fine. Even so, the Hattori made another mental note to try to watch her blind spot.

This analysis and introduction was interrupted by one of his own soldiers approaching the pair. He seemed to be a little more stressed than he had on the journey, which meant that that he probably brought news that was not simply that the troops had settled in. His suspicions were confirmed shortly as the man saluted and reported the enemy assault on their front lines. It was truly a war that the jounin found himself in now. He found it to be strange that blood would be shed in the open without repercussion for some time until the warring parties finally decided to focus on peace. The leaf ninja’s gaze followed his partner as she began to lead her large bear forward and he fell into step beside her. Even as they approached the battle from a distance, Nayoko could already hear the sounds of the criminal forces overwhelming their own. They were the backup that had to save this battle, and save it they would. As Verdandi pulled herself onto the back of her bear, Nayoko returned her encouraging grin and kept pace with the beast. Faster and faster they moved toward the enemy lines as their soldiers behind them tried desperately to reach the fight as well. As the about a dozen of the enemy forced turned toward he pair, Nayoko’s grin only grew. They were so very slow; a shortcoming they would not live to regret.

Their speed did not slow as the great white bear crashed against the vanguard, tossing them to the side effortlessly. It was a beautiful sight to see combined with the leap of the bear’s rider. In an instant, the one-eyed woman was brandishing a saw bladed that cared its way through more of the enemies that now surrounded her. Unfortunately for them, that left her in the perfect position to slaughter them. Seeing the way that she handled herself, Nayoko launched himself from the dune that the pair had been running down and instead landed past the first dozen soldiers. Behind the ones that had turned remained the rest of the forces: a dozen or so more foot soldiers and what appeared to be two samurai watching from the dune further back. Nayoko simply stood still as he took in the sight before him. The enemy soldiers were too foolish to know that he was a captain of the Konoha ANBU, which mean that none of them stood a chance.

Instead, they charged him, causing his grin to fade. He would deal with them quickly. The first two that reached him swung out with swords clumsily, the first from Nayoko’s right and the second from his left. The jounin simply stepped back twice, leaving mere inches between the steel of their blades and his body, but it was all the space he needed. While they were off balance the Hattori simply took one step forward and lashed out with both of his hands, each of them aiming for the throat of one of the attackers. The one on his left was killed instantly as Nayoko’s hidden blade carved into his windpipe and jugular. The one on his right was less fortunate, fining himself in the vice like grip of the ANBU before being thrown like a ragdoll into another of the approaching criminals. With space between him and the remaining soldiers, Nayoko quickly weaved a series of hand seals and produced a dragon of water form the ground beneath his feet. The great beast crashed into found of the men that stood in shock, leaving them with crushed bones and organs. Even as the water was still falling from the aftermath of the jutsu, Nayoko was moving through the ones that were still standing. He weaved through their attacks effortlessly, breaking arms and legs with each blow as the foolish men tried to fight back.

As he worked his way through the men, he had the presence of mind to call out to Verdandi to get her attention. “Looks like there are leaders on the dune. Break off if you can and stop them from retreating. Avalanche and I can deal with these ones.”

Verdandi

Verdandi

D-rank
Verdandi punched a nearby soldier away, hitting him on the nose with her left palm. Jumping onto the next with her legs clinging to his shoulders. Her crotch being pressed to his face would be the last sweet thing he'd get to remember in his life as the whole move was intended to use the momentum for her to make a forward roll and pull her locked-in enemy with her. Planting him on his back on the floor. Knocking him out. The incoming enemy around Verdandi would get to know that her pockets were filled with projectiles. She stuffed her blade in the poor man's gut that was below her. Using her free hands to pull a multitude of shuriken from her back pockets. Tossing a full six of them at the incoming men's feet. Letting them all kneel down to the ice princess before a full six kunai were equally launched to hit their throats and leave them to bleed and suffocate at their own devices. The kneeling men would fall forward. Verdandi sitting up from the guy she had straddled, pulling her blade from his stomach as she watched Avalanche bite into another man's neck and tear the skin away from his shoulder. His brute strength powerful enough to grab them and with a single hard motioned push of his arm they would be sent flying backwards. His body could easily render concussion to anyone colliding with him when he was at speed and potentially fracturing their bones as well.

He continued to reap through the masses with his superior body strength. The slight cuts and bruises he received along the way were not serious as of yet. His endurance strong enough to take a few hits without really caring much as long as it didn't cause him to bleed much. Verd would watch her partner go about his way. His own powers seemingly on par if not certainly above Verdandi's own skillset. A more refined motion could be seen in his very movements. A talented one indeed. Verd tried to see into some of his movements but was unfortunately disturbed by another poor sod running her way. She moved to the side with a simple step as he missed to impact on her. Pulling up one of the kunai on her previous targets with her foot. Lifting it just enough to catch it with her left hand. Tossing it to hit the guys left foot as he returned for another try. As he stumbled Verd turned her sword around and let him casually fall against the backend of her katana. Knocking him out too. She scratched the back of her head and wondered why these types were even on the battlefield. Nayo called out on her and pointed towards a set of coordinating forces on top of the dune. Verdandi nodded. Sheathing her blade to form a series of hand seals before she seemingly disappeared from view. She had casted the silhouette technique and was now casually moving within the shadows of her enemies.

Verdandi followed the next best soldier that would go about to meet his leaders in wish to report to them. Standing all bossy on top of the dunes and all. Their personal guards donning their mighty spears below them while they shouted at them. The 'leaders' of mere C-Rank were of no concern for this battle, the real leader was somewhere further up the dunes. But these two had to be eradicated as well. Verd nodded to herself while she was still conveniently standing in the messenger's shadow. Unrecognized. Hidden. Her eyes continuously moved between the two on top of the dunes and the many many spears of the soldiers below. It would be… a real tragedy if someone… were to push these two off that dune and… eventually have them impaled on top of their own troops spears. Verdandi shuddered. The perverse concept of her idea was almost making her giggle. She quickly formed the hand seals. Then kicked the man who's shadow she was standing in into his balls from behind. To let him sink to his knees forward. Stepping out of his shadow the two 'leaders' before her were pulling their blades but she already had the fuuton chakra in her hands. Pushing a palm each into her enemy's bellies and sending them flying backwards by the massive amount of wind energy exhaled from her hands.

The first one got perfectly impaled on his own gut as a spear would push through his back past his belly and leaving his organs to see some sunlight. The second one probably had a bit of an odd flying path as he landed face first on the spears getting himself impaled to his throat and chest rather than his back. Verdandi bit her own thumb at the view. That was a little brutal even for her standards. Unsheathing her blade to shortly shove it into the back of the messenger before pulling it out and cleansing it of his blood. Waving down the dunes to Nayo to signal him that the targets had been taken care of.

Nayoko

Nayoko

D-rank
It seemed like after his shout toward his ally, the battle reached a calm that was unexpected. While away from their immediate area the battle raged on, the two jounin were faced with a brief moment of respite.

Nayoko inhaled…

The sound of his breath moving into his lungs seemed to overcome everything else as the battle field around him fell silent in his moment of focus. Verdandi was suddenly missing, though he assumed it was because she was moving on the targets that he had marked for her. After seeing the precision with which she moved, across the blood-stained desert only moment before, there was no doubt in the Hattori’s mind that his one-eyed friend would make quick work of the two armoured enemies on the sand dune. With that confidence in mind, Nayoko turned back to his own surroundings in a n attempt to note the number of enemies left in his vicinity. While he held his single breath in his lungs, the jounin’s eyes leaped from target to target as he counted the remaining criminals that surrounded him. There were six soon to eb corpses standing before him. None of them had quiet realized the danger that they were in, and instead were still turning toward the ANBU captain with the goal of killing him. Even as they turned, Nayoko had already planned out his entire assault. They would be dead in seconds.

Nayoko exhaled….

Three of the remaining soldiers moved to attack the jounin. One ran head on toward him, one from his right, and the last one from behind and to his left. They were slow to the point where they might was well be standing still when compared to the ANBU captain. In order to maneuver the situation into is desired position, the jounin took one step back and to his right. As he did this, the bandit that had been behind him and to his left stepped toward where Nayoko had once been while simultaneously swinging out with a katana in his right hand. The arm holding the weapon found itself extended completely in front of Nayoko, and he reacted with what any ninja of his level would: lethality. Lashing out in an instant, Nayoko grabbed the wrist of the extended arm in his right hand and struck with his left at the elbow. The bone shattered completely and bent the arm into a position it was never meant to experience. The man screamed in pain as he instinctively released the grip on his sword just as Nayoko let go of the wrist and caught the falling blade. Spinning it in his hand, the jounin wasted no time in thrusting it through the eye socket of the man that had once held it. The man that had been directly in from of him was still stepping forward at this point, and his momentum was too much to stop his movement, much like his companion that had been to Nayoko’s right. The dead man’s body was then thrown at the oncoming man, sending him crashing to the ground. The third enemy was momentarily distracted and turned his head toward the flying body. It was a fatal mistake as Nayoko’s blade found its home in his temple. The fallen man tried to stand for a moment, but was prevented by the Hattori’s foot crushing his skull as he lay face down on the sand.

It was at that moment that Nayoko noticed his companion standing on the dune where the leaders of the small group they were decimating had once stood. Instead, there were now two more bodies on the ground, their blood soaking the sand of the Land of Wind along with their friends. Nayoko found a moment to wave back to his new friend as the last three bandits simple stood in shock and awe of what they had just seen. He was about to turn on the last of the soldiers when he heard a growl from behind him. Turning around, he watched as Avalanched charged past him and mauled one of the remaining criminals. The teeth and claws of the mighty animal tore the chest of the man open effortlessly and caused a shirk to emit from the last of targets. They turned to flee, only to find themselves fact to face with Nayoko once again. With a smirk, the Hattori grabbed the two men by their heads and smashed them together. The resounding crack indicated that the men would either be dead or unconscious for a long time, so Nayoko simply dropped them at that point and moved up toward his partner.

As he arrived next to his companion, he wiped the blood form his hands onto his robe and looked out over the battlefield. The arrival of reinforcements had shifted the tide of the battle in their favour for the moment, and they would be foolish not to capitalize on the opportunity. With a swift nod, the jounin turned his attention toward Verdandi. “It looks like they’re on the ropes now. We should probably push forward if we want to push the advantage. Do you see a good place to strike? Maybe any kind of leadership?”

Verdandi watched Nayoko do his moves and quickly getting rid of his enemies and a quite brutal way of his own. Verd flinched a few times as she could clearly follow his last moves. The violence brought on to this battlefield today was beyond her usual standards. She had to inhale a few times to calm herself. Not that she minded or really was bothered with it. She just had to adjust sometimes when her head wasn't in bloodbath mode just yet. The battlefield dispersed. Their own soldiers had killed the remaining militiamen while Verd and Nayo had eliminated all real threats. Verd could feel an uneasy presence within the sands though. As if someone incredibly strong and malicious was staring down on the two and gazing his nasty eye onto the advancing forces. This entity and their apprentice would however soon move elsewhere. Giving Verdandi a rest to her worries as she was not quite ready to face a monster that could exhale such a killing intent over distance. As the corrupted aura disappeared. Verd watched Nayoko and Avalanche catch up with her on the overview of the sand dune. Their men would get in formation. The reinforcements were by now fully integrated into the previous army. Verd stared at the enemy forward camp and lifted her arm. The troops exhaling a loud "HA!" in response and started to march towards where Verdandi had pointed for. She would turn about and gaze at Nayoko with confidence that their next step would be successful as well, thanks to having him around.

"Intel proclaims that their leader is in the forward camp. If we can take him down and burn this camp to ashes, all suna forces in the vicinity will call off their attacks for sure. They are already on the losing side anyway. Let's make sure it stays that way.

I unfortunately used my stealth technique to get behind the leaders here. If you got anything useful at hand I suggest I take the troops for the frontal assault while you sneak in and take care of the leader by surprise. I will take some of the strongest men we got to directly launch for his tent and come for your support. If we eliminate him quickly. The rest of the camp shall fall to our advance.

I do not sense a superior strength in the camp. He will certainly be skilled but beatable. There seem no sensory types to be in there either. I can usually feel them from miles away when they scan my chakra. But there's another presence in the dunes. Something powerful… We have to be careful. If they were to come and mess with our attack we're screwed. We have to take the camp first and then deal with them. Maybe that way we have a chance to fully destroy the sands influence here. It is, after all what your mission HQ has commanded us to do right?"

Verdandi chuckled the army had adjusted their motion. It was time to move forward. For the first part of the distance. Verdandi would climb back up on Avalanche's back. Offering a palm to Nayoko to join them. Either way they would make their motion to the top of the army. Seeing how the camp was barring their makeshift wooden walls, fences and spiked defense lines in the distance. Nothing that could not be completely and utterly annihilated with a well-placed technique from Verdandi's arsenal. She would scan the camp for weak spots. Exhaling to herself a few times. Seeing various holes in their defences. Broken watch towers. Walls that were just makeshift repaired. But Verd could feel into the camp. Her ability for now a mystery to Nayoko would be revealed in due time. She felt how it was taxing her however. So, she had to stop, especially sensing the powerful monsters somewhere in the distance was highly disturbing her.

Verdandi would nod to Nayoko. If he agreed with her wish to take the stealthy approach, he would have to move out now and separate himself from the army. Verd would have no worries about him. His speed alone would probably carry him where he needed to go. Dandi just hoped her forward launch would be powerful enough to break the line and get her charge team to the camp and support Nayo in time he might need it.

Verd remained on her battle bear. Drawing her sword. The camp coming closer. The enemies behind the camp walls shuddering at the army's presence. Arrows would clash against the shields of Verdandi's men. Avalanche would paw a few from the air that threatened to his him and Verd casually intercepted another few with more shuriken. A number of five would suffice. Her pockets were filled with projectiles. She had enough to do this all day. Once the arrows were silenced. Verd lifted her sword. Avalanche stood on his hind legs for a moment and sent a roar of passionate anger forth. Sending chills down the spines of those daring to stand where he would impact. Verdandi screamed for what it was worth. "CHARGE!" and the men behind her would become the most fearless monsters the sand had ever seen. With the bear ahead. The ice princess on his back. Hyouton chakra was already forming around her. The icy glare of sapphire light would beam from her. The impact she would have on these gates would be far from nice and mild and the soldiers behind her were ready to bring victory for Konoha. Ready to massacre the last of whom might stand in between them and their final claim over these parts of the desert and its resources.

Nayoko

D-rank
Nayoko glanced back at the remaining soldiers as he waited for his comrade’s response. The group shifted into their new formation, forming ranks that were indicative of a charge. They already knew what was coming. They were exhausted, sweating, and in danger; some of them were beaten and bloody, and the jounin was certain that a few of the bodies that littered the desert sand were bodies of his allies. But even so they seemed steadfast and resolute. They were here on a mission and they were not about to give up. Such a clear picture of the Will of Fire that burned amongst Konoha’s people would usually bring a small smile to the face of the Sage; but today his mouth remained as a neutral frown. He was concentrating now; trying to push past the feelings of sorrow over the fallen allies and instead channelling that into an anger toward the enemies in the camp before him. Turning back toward Verdandi, the jounin nodded slightly and stared back at the camp that laid in the sand ahead of them. As his ally from Kirigakure no Sato began to give her report, Nayoko simply reached out and pet the fur of the great bear he had just finished fighting with. Avalanche was as much of an ally as any of the soldiers behind him, and Nayoko figured that the least he could do was acknowledge his presence at the forefront of the platoon.

The fact that the leader was supposedly present in the camp ahead caused Nayoko to tense a little bit. The upcoming battle would be nothing like the previous one if they had to deal with an actually skilled fighter. He knew that it would be his own responsibility to keep the strongest fighter away from the rest of the soldiers so that they would be able to do their job. That thought was only reinforced by Verdandi’s own idea being voiced. Stealth was something that Nayoko certainly had access to, and if she was willing to charge the front gate while he snuck through without an interruption, then that would work out perfectly in the long run. The Hattori had no doubt that the young woman would be able to handle herself at the front of the charge; and even if she did slip up, she would have a large bear at her side. Nayoko remained silent and listened to the rest of her report. For a moment he wanted to know how she could be so specific with sensing sensory type shinobi at such a distance, but instead of prying, Nayoko thought it would be best to agree with her. The kunoichi of the Land of Water were some of the strongest in the world, and if her perceptive ability was that great, then who was Nayoko to question it. When she finished, Nayoko finally spoke up. “That seems like the best plan at our disposal. I can move in and take out the leader as quickly as possible, and your charge will make sure the soldiers stay off my back. I like it.”

There was nothing more to be said at that point. Their plan had been set, and Nayoko was ready for his assassination mission. What did surprise him, however, was the hand that was extended to Nayoko inviting him onto the back of Avalanche. The corner of Nayoko’s mouth curled into a small smile as he took the offered palm and swung up onto the back of the great beast. He had never been one to ride a mount, but the feeling of the bear’s powerful muscles beneath him was almost enough to convince him that he needed one of his own. As they moved forward, Nayoko also scanned the camp below then for any signs of weakness. They would have seen the group coming by now just base don’t their size alone. But they would not be able to make out details like Nayoko could unless they were very well trained. And judging by the bandits that he had already fought today, they would not be that strong. It was easy enough for the jounin to pick the way for him to enter the camp. A watchtower stood just inside of the ramshackle walls near the front of the camp. It would be a simple task for the ANBU to jump over the fence and onto it, where he would be able to get a better vantage point on his target. Before leaving though, Nayoko spoke once again to his new friend. “I’m going to move in now. When the leader is dead I will send up a signal. I trust you will be able to push in and take over the camp at that point with no issues.” He paused for a moment to make eye contact with Verdandi’s single eye as he slipped off of Avalanche. “I’ll see you on the other side of this. I’m glad we got to work together. Hopefully it won’t be the last time.”

With that, Nayoko formed the Ram hand seal before shimmering for a moment and then completely and utterly disappearing before Verdandi’s eye. Expelling slightly more chakra, Nayoko masked all sounds of his movement as well, leaving only silent footprints in the sand as he dashed off toward the camp. He neared the fence in no time and leaped onto the side of the watch tower with ease. Scaling it took a little bit more time, and as he got to the top and killed the single soldier napping on his watch, the jounin turned back to hear his comrade shout her battle cry. The fight was going to begin in earnest in a moment, and Nayoko needed to have the leader distracted as soon as possible. His invisible smirk disappeared as he scanned the camp below, looking for anyone that looked like a leader. Thanks to the charging Konaha platoon in front of the camp it soon became very clear who was giving the orders. Standing atop a nearby hastily contracted tower was a man with two bodyguards, shouting out to those below him. At a quick glance the ANBU captain knew that this man was not going to be a joke to fight against like those earlier, but his bodyguards were probably just as pathetic. He quickly formulated a plan before executing it right away. There was no time to second guess himself.

The Hattori took too steps forward and jumped from his tower toward that which the leader was standing on. Mid-jump, Nayoko threw Hurricane Reaver, his fuma shuriken, before forming the shadow clone and seal. In an instant, exactly one hundred fuma shuriken were flying toward the leader and his bodyguards. The two underlings stood no chance at all. Their bodies were town to pieces in an instant as the deadly cones of his weapon shredded through them. But the leader raised his hand and created a wall of wind that destroyed the clones upon impact. Nayoko hit the ground below him and released his stealth technique. He raised a hand has his weapon returned to it, arcing through the air until be could sheathe it again. All the while, the jounin continued to push toward the leader who had now seen the Hattori. The man ran toward the edge of his own tower and jump down toward Nayoko as well. The battle was about to begin.

Verdandi

Verdandi

D-rank
Verdandi watched how her partner vanished in the use of his hand seal. She smiled. Nayo was indeed the skilled and warm shinobi she had perceived so far. In a world of odd characters. Verdandi admitted. She had been missing the presence of a seemingly normal, strong, level headed and humble person. To find such a character mix within Nayo was both motivating and inspiring. The men for sure, were thriving with enthusiasm. Despite their weary limbs. They were ready to go to battle under his name. His nature too affecting Avalanche. The bear clearly able to sense when someone was of good will to him. He however didn't lick Nayo's face when the leaf-nin was so kind. Due to the fact that Verd once told the bear that people didn't like getting their face wet in the midst of battle. Despite the bears immense self-control to keep him from expressing his love. He couldn't help but wiggle with his tail happily. The army of men were ready. The army of enemies however were too. They were guided by the wise words of their captain and leader. Ready to go to battle for him. To die for him and to show that they were as strong and pure as their leader had made them. Bandits or criminals, survivors of the past suna, weary veterans, mercenaries. The people opposing the villages were a weird bunch of collected enemies. But they were certainly not without strength, or will to fight for their cause. May it be a noble one or not.

Verdandi was ready. Ready to wreak havoc upon her enemies. Not long until Avalanche crushed into the masses. Soldiers were sent flying. The one getting between Ava and the wall he aimed to crash against got squished like a small fruit. His blood would spill equally amusing as Ava's weight could crush the man's bones and empty his body fluids from his meat sac skin within a mere second after impact. The bear was now covered in the red of his first victim and his appearance would only become more freighting as he roared loud. Smacked his clad into the first enemy's chest before he went in to crush another enemies face by the use of his own jaw. The leaf soldiers meanwhile crashing to the remaining front line of bandits with a seemingly unbreakable will and motivation. Knowing well the advantage was at their hands, they would gain a limitless morale boost. Fighting like beasts to bring demise upon their enemies. Verdandi had once more jumped off Avalanches back. Rolling off to the ground to unsheathe her sword and a kunai. Being tossed in the midst of the reinforcements. Verd would keep rolling at ground level as she simply used her blades to attack her enemies' footing. Slicing into feet and leg. Cutting into vulnerable flesh and leaving enemy forces to tumble down onto their knees. It was not deadly but certainly effective as a dozen of them seemed to be crawling at her feet by the time she actually stood up on her own feet.

Once Verd would stand tall. She would gaze into the depth of their eyes. The leader was still shouting nasty commands at them. Eventually leaving them a chance to win this battle if lead by the wits of their chief. But Nayo's cue was up and he did so perfectly. The shadow windmill blades cut down the guardians that were tasked to protect the leader. As they died with loud cries the men of the suna defences would stare back. Seeing that their glorious chief was soon to be engaged in a powerful clash of powers. Without the lead and tactical support of their captain. The soldiers started to feel panic come up within them. The insane morale of the leaf soldiers. The bear. Verdandi wanted to make use of this psychological warfare further. She unleashed the Hyouton chakra limiter that she had been hoarding for a while now. A huge chakra wave would unleash itself like a shockwave over the battlefield. The men of the sand would glare at the cause of this. Verdandi was starting to float a bit above ground. Her eyes would turn glowing with cyan colours. Her skin starting to get covered in a thin layer of crystal, glassy frost. The hue of diamond dust exhaling from her skin. Various runes would appear on her body. Her whole appearance starting to glow massively. An extremely intimidating view. Especially to the mere D-Ranked soldiers surrounding Verdandi.

Psychological warfare. One of Verd's absolute primary tactics. To appear stronger than you are. Results in people often fleeing way before they even try. Or in a large battle where two soldiers' armies clash. It would raise the spirits of those you fight for while it would force a few enemy militiamen to grab their stuff and run for their lives. Verdandi watched in joy as quite a few enemy soldiers broke from their ranks and ran in awe of the demons that were attacking them. Verdandi however, had techniques of use that would reinforce her appearance as an all-powerful goddess. It was also part of psychological warfare to back your seeming appearance with physical proof of your illusion. Verdandi had several techniques to do so. First, she placed her palm on the ground to summon a large body of water straight into spot beneath her. She then proceeded to open her mouth and exhale a thick mist of Hyouton chakra into the air. The soldiers could see how the water spreading at Verdandi's feet was starting to freeze slowly. The men inhaling Verd's frozen breath would idly grip their palms to their throats, starting to cough and helplessly gasp for air. Falling to their knees as they would feel the Hypothermia crawling up their lungs and feeling is if they were burning with frost from within daring to suffocate at the icy hands of frozen poison that was intruding their bodies.

The third move had to be one of actual devastating power in display. Verdandi would create eight senbons and two thick blades like shards out of seemingly thin air. Staring at the enemies around her as she sent the projectiles their way, attacking multiple targets before her. Crushing their frost into their skin, most of them just going ¼ to ½ inch deep into the targets but still, aimed at critical places like their throat or face it would knock them down and leave them to bleed. Verdandi's move was over. The effect lingered for good. Her goal and tactic were complete. The leaf soldiers would keep screaming their motivation as they charged further to cut down their foes. Avalanche pushed past his own enemies ahead of him. Slicing into their flesh with his powerful claws. Their puny little weapons no match for him. Nayo was giving their leader a battle that left them with little hope of success. The ice demon Verdandi was hovering like a monster above them. Shooting ice projectiles around, breathing frost that removed their ability to inhale air and sending dozens of men to kneel all around her, wounded and sore. The multitude of those that already fled growing larger. The psychological torture found its end. The view remaining forces that were ready to battle the incoming army would be on the retreat. Screaming that their battle was over. Showing clearly that they had no intentions to stay here and die an ice-cold death at the hands of either intruding shinobi.

Verd would make sure to get the soldiers running by using a last technique. The supernatural evasion allowed her to skate on ice with her feet. Since archerfish had created a large body of frozen water below her feet. Verdandi could now skate around the battlefield and use her insane speed to cut her saw-mode activated katana to pieces. Wrecking massive wounds into their bodies. Cutting them to mere shadows of their former strength. Laying waste to a full army of enemies while the rest would eventually flee the camp to run for their lives. While the leaf soldiers were willing to follow them. Verdandi was not. She'd motion for them to hold as she too would eventually stop the illusion technique that had turned her into the Hyouton demoness. She would quickly make sure that the soldiers would search the enemy camp, accounting for the resources within. Claiming the defense structures for themselves. Locating potential traps to disarm them and confiscating intel, radio codes. Frequencies. Advancement plans and so on. The camp was now under control of Konoha. Verd made sure that the soldiers would spread themselves within the camp and would make sure that the few entrance gates would quickly be manned. The watch towers as well, needed skilled archers with high perception to scout for enemies. Verdandi still had that feeling that something was out there, somewhere in the sand. Something far more dangerous than anything either of them had seen coming as of yet.

Nayoko had taken his own, personal epic battle with his enemy to the outsides of the camp. Maybe the leader didn't want to damage or destroy what he presumed to be his. It would have certainly saddened his soul to see his camp being taken over, his men either slaughtered or sent to flee into the wasteland of the desert. But he would most likely not make this day anyway. Verdandi left Avalanche in charge of defending their new camp and would make her way past the walls of it to find Nayoko. She wanted to help him in case he needed it. Or at least check on him to see if he was alright after his clash with the leader. Being of equal rank could at least prove to be an annoying battle for him, Verdandi would try to use what she so far had hidden from her battle companion. The little secret that was beyond her supposedly blind eye. The technique that would allow her to have perception and senses of sensory way out of her usual skill set. The Sharingan. She would try to use it and seek for her sensei and eventually for the shadows of those energies she had felt so far. Lifting her eye patch to set the eye aflame. But it only hurt and gave her a blurry display of what she was hoping for. Verd closed the eye again and sighed. Relying on her belly feel and the eventual noise or aftershocks of a powerful battle between strong shinobi.

As the distance between Nayoko and his adversary began to disappear, the Sage took a moment to size up his opponent. He appeared strong; that much was clear by his muscular upper body that was covered only by a light vest that hung open. His pants were large nd baggy, but Nayoko assumed they they were probably equally as impressive. His dark skin suggested a life spent under the Sun of the Land of Wind, which made sense considering he was fighting for a radical independence that was extremely dangerous to the relief efforts. For some reason he did not believe that the people of the village formerly known as Sunagkure no Sato did not need any help. Instead, they should rally under his banner and do what he said was good and right.  It was a delusional sense of self-importance that Nayoko knew he would enjoy ending, through it was a shame to see that so many of the man’s deceived comrades would have to die in the process. He snapped out of those thoughts as the distance between the two shinobi finally melted into noting. The pair leaped forward with their right arms across their bodies. The forearms collided in a clash of two burning wills, and for a moment the pair simple hung in the air silently.

The silence did not last long thought. The two warriors pushed off of each other before running back into striking distance, with Nayoko beginning on the defensive. The criminal’s left hand struck out for the Hatti’s jaw, but a quick swipe with Nayoko’s right rm pushed it out of the way with ease, causing it to harmlessly move past his head. The next attack came from his left arm, moving with an open hand as it it was trying to chop Nayoko in the throat. With his right hand, the Sage struck out at the wrist of his opponent and moved to push it up and over his head. But this time the foe reacted by bending at his elbow and throwing it toward the jounin’s temple. Quickly, Nayoko drew his head backwards so that the elbow missed its mark, leaving him in a slightly vulnerable position. The criminal took advantage of this by kicking with his left leg at Nayoko’s right knee, but thanks to his extensive training, the man saw the attack coming. Instead of trying to block the attack or bracing for it, the jounin continued to fall backwards and threw his hands above his head to brace for the handstand that he fell into. As he fell back, he pulled his legs up and out of the way of the kick. Instead, his right hell found itself connecting with the chin of his enemy as he flipped backwards form his handstand and landed on his feet a short distance away from the man.

Now it was his turn to go on the offensive. Since this man seemed so eager to engage him in a battle of taijutsu, Nayoko had no qualms about showing him his own prowess. Stepping forward to close the gap, the Sage began with a simple combination hat would spiral into the man’s end. Flowing chakra through his body to enhance his speed and strikes, the jounin began by unleashing a Leaf Gale from his left leg, a rear spinning low kick that hit the man’s ankles and sent his spinning upward for a moment in a wild, uncontrollable beginning of the end. Next came the Leaf Great Whirlwind; a combination of four kicking attacks starting from a low sweeping kick that kept his adversary in the air. Following that kick came a second and third middle and high horizonal kick in mid air as the jounin began to lift off of the ground along with his enemy. The strikes left the man in a horizonal position. Finally, the jounin twisted in the air and delivered a final, devastating heel drop onto the man’s back, sending his rocketing toward the earth.

But Nayoko was not done there. As the man flew towards the ground, the ANBU captain quickly weaved together a series of hand seals ending with a mass of suiton chakra gathering in his hand and being launched forward like a whip towards his target. As the Water Whip collided with the helpless man just before he hit the ground, the ward coiled around him and allowed Nayoko to pull the criminal back towards him. The resulting movement left Nayoko moving down quickly toward the man who was flying up at him. A small smirk curled on the corner of Nayoko’s mouth as he brought his right fist forward with all of his strength, intending to crush the man without mercy. His goal was accomplished as his fist slammed into the criminal’s solar plexus, caving in the rib cage and causing his lungs to be punctured violently by the shattering bones. The force of his blow carried the men to the ground where a large plume of sand erupted around them thanks to the force of his attack. There was no more movement form the corpse on the ground before him as the jounin slowly stood up and dusted himself off.

As the dust around him settled, the Hattori’s eyes quickly darted around the scene, checking to see if there were any more enemies to dispose of before joining Verdandi on the man battle field. When he was confident that he was clear of any other danger, the jounin looked toward the approaching Kiri kunoichi and smiled. She had done her part of the mission perfectly, leaving the camp at their mercy. Moving quickly, Nayoko approached his ally and nodded his approval. “Great work Verdandi. Your plan worked perfectly.” He paused for a moment to look past her at the ranging battle from whence she had come. His smile remained as he caught a glimpse of Avalanche mauling one of the bandits with relative ease. “With their leader dead, it’s only a matter of time before they flee. We’ve done good work here today. But something tells me that is not the end of them. Do you have any more intelligence that we can work with? I’d like to end this threat completely if we can."

Verdandi and Nayoko eventually returned to their new camp. Mission HQ from Konoha was very clear that their progress was highly appreciated but their task not yet completed. Many rogue factions were still at large in the area. But before the two of them would go hunting. Verd needed a little break. Avalanche would bathe himself in the oasis pond the camp was built around on. The soldiers that have been travelling with Nayoko and Verdandi were eagerly rebuilding the camp and its defense. They would highly appreciate the break from battle and Verdandi figured that most of them, especially the ones they originally rescued anyway, needed to be done with this war. Verd would continuously contemplate the situation with Nayoko and both would most likely agree that this battle squad had seen enough of their war. Once the reinforcements from HQ arrived. Verd would make sure that the soldiers would be allowed to remain in their new camp and be assigned a completely defensive role. Leaving them out of harms way for now. Verdandi would furthermore move to the tent where she had dragged the corpse of the leader to. The one Nayo had killed so vigilantly. Doing her limited analysis over the corpse and its potential hidden secrets as part of her own ANBU initiate education. Once she had finalized her report for both Leaf and Mist HQ. The corpse would be sealed away again. The scroll returning to Verd's inventory. It'd be handed in with the rest of the quest objectives.

Verdandi and Nayoko would spend quite some time together from here on out. Multiple days would go past as they teamed up with or sometimes without Avalanche to hunt down minor fractions, splinter groups and terrorist cells from the remaining enemy troops. Verd was pretty sure that after just a few days they had eradicated most of the remaining troops. Returning the full control of the area once again into the hands of Konoha. Verdandi had never lost the feeling of being both, watched, seeked out for, stalked, hunted and wanted. Her emotional perception against sensory impacts was high but whenever she tried to use her eye to catch the target in question. The feeling would leave and disappear again. As if the stalker could feel what she was up to. Verdandi had never before faced a power so seemingly destructive while also stealthy and sneaky. It didn’t come to Verd's surprise that, when the two of them tried to get a proper report from HQ, they kept hearing intel about leaf soldiers, whole squads disappearing. That despite the regained control over the area. There was an enemy still out there. A stronger, smarter one than any other rogue group Verd and Nayo had obliterated these last few days and so, it was time to seek them out. Verdandi had recovered a good portion of her strength and been slightly training her eye to casually do its job a little. Always hidden beneath the eye patch. Not wanting to promise Nayoko about an ability just yet she didn't have full control over.

But it was on another sunny day. When Verdandi and Nayoko had followed the spilled beans of a captured prisoner to head to a little mountain passage not all too far away from their new 'home' camp and their 'home' squadron of troops. Verdandi was casually leading the way, going by both Avalanche's nose that had already found quite a few rogues during clean up duty. But also, Verdandi's intuition and Sharingan. Nayoko still didn't know about the eye. He seemed to be fine with Verd's explanation that this is just a thing she's good at. Her previous success on rooting out those criminals would have spoken for her anyway. But it didn't take long until Verdandi realized that the two of them weren’t the hunters this time. As Verd and Nayo entered the little dome of free space within the valley of the mountain side, a multitude of projectiles would be launched in their direction. Senbon. Sleeping and poison dart. Kunai. Shuriken. Probably over a hundred of them flying straight for Verdandi and Nayoko. But Verd had seen these hiding people the very moment they entered the valley. She had seen the flames of their faint, clearly non-ninja chakra natures glowing away behind the rocks they were hiding for. And so, it didn't come without reason as the moment those projectiles would aim for the two of them.

Verdandi had already set foot onto ground by locking her body with the supernatural walking technique, the wind chakra had already been concentrated in her belly. The final hand seal would allow her to release the massive wave of wind chakra. "Fūton: Daitoppa!" she would exhale the power of the storm against the ambushers. The projectiles forced either to the side, or following the wind blast back into the people that originally sent them off. Three of ten enemies would instantly die in response to Verdandi's counter trap. It would be up to Nayoko to eventually deal with the remaining seven. Surely he could do so easily, considering the enemy was no ninja.

With their mission a complete success in the desert, Nayoko and Verdandi were allowed to return to their oasis camp once again. The forces that had once occupied the area had been fished back for the time being, and soon enough they would be completely decimated. But Nayoko was not foolish enough to believe that their work was done, The Hattori knew from first hand experience that no leader of a group like that would be so easy to deal with. No, both he and Verd had sensed a much stronger presence at the scene of their first battle, and that fact returned to Nayoko whenever he began to feel too complacent. That constant reminder combined with the praise that he and Verdandi were receiving for their part in the battle that day was distracting from his true goal of forcing the criminal element out of the ruins of Sunagakure no Sato. Even so, the ANBU captain did enjoy the recognition, but he constantly made sure that the rest of he soldiers were receiving their share of the reward as well. After a few brief discussions with his partner, the pair decided to give the group that had fought that day a new post. While they headed up the defensive front, Nayoko and Verdandi began their own work on the destruction of the criminals of the Land of Wind.

Most of Nayoko’s time in camp was spent with the soldiers that came from HQ in order to replace those that were being put on their new defensive duty. Though most of the soldiers had seen battle before, they were nowhere near as strong as they needed to de if Nayoko was going to accept them on the front likes of battle. They were not nearly aggressive as they needed to be, and they did not understand the basics of communicating on the battle field. Because of that gap in their training, the ANBU captain often found himself running drills while sparring with them until he could be confident in their ability. It was a long process, but Nayoko also found time to spend by himself in the oasis. Almost every evening the Hattori would slip down to the moonlit oasis and slip into the waters, hoping that they would grant him some kind of respite before the coming battle; and there would be a coming battle. The lack of resolution regarding the camp they had taken constantly haunted him, but there were more important things to do than speculate over what they might have missed. Instead, the camp decided on a more proactive approach.

Much of this time was spent alongside Verdandi and sometimes Avalanche. The pair fought off as many small cells of enemy combatants as often as they could while they waited for something more concrete to act on. Often, the duo would capture criminals that they were confident they could subdue and would then interrogate them for any information hat they would not volunteer freely. With each group that Verdandi and Nayoko eliminated, the sense of hope grew throughout the camp. The soldiers were ready to push further into he desert to take back the Land of Wind of the refugees. But with that sense of hope in everyone, a sense of dread rose in the Hattori. Something was growing in power, and very close as well. It was a distraction that Nayoko could not escape, as even his Sage perception could feel ripples in the nature energy that he was so in tune with. He knew that one of these days, he would need to fight back, even if it meant leaving the camp without himself and possibly Verdandi for a small while. The threat needed to be stopped, and Nayoko was confident that eventually their intel would lead them in the right direction. And little did they know, it would happen very soon.

After one particularly invasive interrogation of a captured lacky, Nayoko and Verdandi found themselves wandering through a mountainous area that rose out of the sand of the Land of Wind desert. It was another particularly sunny day, and despite being in the desert for quite a while now, Nayoko was still not used to the intense heat that he constantly experienced here. He could not wait to be done here so that he could return to the Land of Fire or Water where the weather was much more…agreeable to the Hattori. As the pair moved through the area in search of enemies, or information, Nayoko sensed a shift in the winds around them. There was movement, and it was close to them. He could hear the shuffling of feet against the sand and the unsheathing of weapons. His body tensed as he waited for the strike that he knew would come. As he predicted a plethora od throwing weapons soared toward the duo as they stepped into a dome shaped valley near the mountainside. He would have reacted to defend them, but it seemed that Verdandi was just as prepared, and Nayoko was not surprised by that. As she stepped forward, a chill filled the air and a blast of fuuton charged energy erupted from her, sending projectiles back at their enemies. Nayoko watched three of the ten criminals fall, which left seven for him.

Nayoko smirked as he pulled senbon of his own from a pouch on his right leg, holing three in his right hand between his fingers. Leaping to his left to close the distance between himself and some of the assailants, the ANBU captain threw his three senbon to his right while pulling pout a kunai with his right hand and throwing it shortly thereafter. Two of the senbon struck one of the enemies to his right and the third struck another. They dropped instantly as their throats were pierced and filled with blood, leaving them drowning in their own blood in moments. The kunai also struck true, severing an artery in a fourth man’s leg and leaving him crippled and bleeding out. By this time, Nayoko had managed to close the distance to the other four and was surrounded by them. One made the foolish mistake of throwing a kunai combined with an explosive tag at him, which the ANBU deftly snatched out of the air and turned on one of the other soldiers. With the kunai embedded in the arm of one of his foes, he kicked the man back into another man and let the explosive tag do the rest. The last two were in so much shock that Nayoko simply stepped up and overwhelmed them with taijutsu, eventually grabbing both of their heads and smashing them together, leaving them dying on the ground. He then jumped back to his friend and let his smile fade as he furrowed his brow. “I guess we’ve found them…

Verdandi

Verdandi

D-rank
Verdandi watched as Nayoko quickly cleaned up after her initial move. His motions leaving not questions as to whom was of highest rank and skill. It'd all have been quite fine if the whole dome around them didn't suddenly close itself shut completely. A weird thick suiton technique would start to fill the holes in each and every exit and electric discharges could be heard roaming and zapping within the water. A heavy mix of suiton and raiton element. A little wind hose, a whirlwind would appear in the centre of the dome and from it would step what seemed like a very twisted version of a Hoshigaki and an unseeingly lady with a rather twisted facial expression. Both of them donning a katana at their hands. The seemingly elder and taller Hoshigaki-like male would proceed to slowly walk towards Nayoko while the younger weird lady quickly advanced for Verdandi. The ice princess was honestly not really mentally prepared for any of this her eyes would widen at the speed of the incoming student seeing quickly that she was on part with Verdandi if not even faster. Verd's reaction and reflexes however seemed to surpass the woman's own, becoming visible as Verdandi pulled forth her own blade from her sheath, instinctively countering her enemy's first slice and moving fluently to the side to let the woman rush past her. The crazy looking woman growling in quick and clear displeasure over the simple failure she endured. Charging again and hitting her blade vertically and horizontally down on Verdandi's own.

Verd would potentially act as if it was an easy task, but the amount of times she got barely hit by the lady in such a short amount of time. That wasn't going well for her. She did see her become quickly angry and frustrated. Screaming at Verd whom was growing quickly scared of an enduring close combat. Dandi quickly started to get her chakra pool going. Stepping a few times on the ground as she started channelling chakra into the ground below. Amassing suiton energy rather quickly. But the sword lady wouldn't give in to Verdandi's defense's either, folding her blade once to form hand seals. Verd jumped back and quickly pushed her own blade into the sand. In a sudden and insane speed Verdandi's hand would suddenly copy the exact same hand seals of the lady. An ability only possible if one was able to completely read through an opponent's motions. It would not go without saying that beneath the eyepatch something red was brightly glowing. Verdandi's sharingan had awoken under the distress of the situation. Verdandi's limited control over the new organ would be forced into action. With a simple tilt of Verd's head the eyepatch dropped to the ground and the bright sharingan would rotate heavily. Verdandi would have used the copy wheel if she didn't already knew the technique that was being formed against her. But the sharingan allowed her to simply see through the attack. Both of them, apprentice and dandi casting a huge water dragon.

Either of these would spew suiton at each other before crashing against each other. In the middle colliding hard. Splashing all over the battlefield. But Verdandi was going to use it to her advantage. Out of the still clashing suiton suddenly two Verdandi's would form. The suiton chakra swallowed within, that was hers and the suiton chakra of foreign nature would instantly freeze down and brittle onto the ground. Either of the two ice clones would form hand seals quickly casting a huge amount of Hyouton chakra into the place. Raising from the suiton and icy remains of the ground a heavy attack against the sword user. Ice spears would appear from all sides around her. Each of them coming in a new angle to slowly move her into a very specific position, until the last spear would directly force itself into the woman's belly. Verd could watch how she screamed. Using her sword to cut off the ice spear in her body. The spike remaining in her flesh as she was bleeding. But even while she was wounded she would scream again and charge towards the real Verdandi. The Hyouton clones would quickly charge after her. Soon the woman's blade would clash on Verdandi's own again. With a brute force that would toss Verd backwards against the huge suiton / raiton wall. Sending a sudden current of electricity through Dandi's body. Leaving her in massive shock and pain. Staring up as her enemy was already charging again. Coming for more.

Verdandi would quickly get back on her feet, shaking off the pain while electricity still seemed to roam within her muscles. She could feel the spasms in her arms as she lifted them to counter the incoming slash of the blade woman. Kicking her back and yet barely able to move. Verdandi was however in the lucky position of not being alone in this fight anymore. Soon the ice-born blades of the clones would slice down on the woman's back. Adding insult to injury as the wounds on her skin became aplenty. Verdandi would kick her back again but before the clones could deliver a finishing blow to her, she would suddenly disappear. Her position replaced by but a mere stone. Leaving the clones and Verdandi as well, baffled as to where she had transported herself towards. This fight wasn't over just yet. Verd needed to finish this. But she also needed a short break as the electric current within her had left but the numbness and spasms remained. Forcing her to calm down and concentrate on her legs to properly work and move again. She was well versed with paralysation. Her body had yet not received a full direct blow of a raiton attack but merely went into contact with charged suiton technique. The electricity was still there and Verd was generally weak against raiton. She disliked an element that could crush through her ice. Luckily the raiton user was busy on the other end of the dome fighting Nayo. Dandi tried to figure out if he was doing well or not. Potentially sending one of the Hyouton clones in his direction to spy past the sand dunes and take a look over what was going on there. The other clone searching for the bleeding enemy. Wishing to finish her off for good. Verdandi could eventually move with her own feet again. Sheathing her blade as she tried to concentrate on her remaining chakra and using her Sharingan to locate the enemy.

Nayoko

Nayoko

D-rank
The brief victory that Verdandi and Nayoko had won against the pathetic attempt at an ambush was quickly forgotten as the small dome that the pair found themselves in began to shift and change. A combination of suiton and ration chakra swirled around them and grew taller until it completely surrounded them. The jounin’s brow furrowed as he realized that there would be no escape from the fight that was about to begin. As yet another elemental chakra nature was used to create a sort of fuuton portal into the space, the ANBU captain’s hands clenched into fists. He was ready for a fight, but the disfigured Hoshigaki looking individual simply stepped forward; katana in hand. The woman, however, instantly attacked causing Verdandi to rush into action. Nayoko wanted to help, but the strength of the chakra seeping from the man before cautioned him to let Verdandi handle herself. If he turned away from this man it could mean his end. But instead of fighting directly, the Hattori found himself merely staring down his soon to be opponent. The grin on his face was undoubtedly evil, but it also seemed overconfident. Nayoko decided to see if that could be used to his advantage, even as his ally clashed with the woman only a few feet away.

“You’ve sealed yourself in with an enemy you know very little about. That seems like a poor decision does it not?” Nayoko called out to the criminal, trying to size him up as they stood beside their clashing partners. “You should know that you are facing two of the most elite ninja of the Land of Fire and Water. This battle will not end well for your or your friend. If you care about her at all, you will surrender yourselves.” He paused for a moment, hoping that the man would simply give in. The ANBU was confident that he could win the fight, but he knew that he would not get out of it unscathed. It was a dangerous situation; Verdandi and Nayoko had no other way out of the dome other than ending the fight, and judging by the silence of his opponent and the ferocity of the fight that Verdandi was participating in, there would be a fight.

“Very well…” Nayoko said quietly to himself. His body tensed as he readied his attack. He was about to launch himself forward into he fray, but it was at that moment that he caught a sight out of the corner of his eye that brought a smile to his face. As Verdandi clashed with her opponent, her eyepatch fell to the ground, revealing something that he never would have expected. She bore an eye of legend. The crimson Sharingan spun relentlessly in her eyes in her single eye, tracking the hand seals being formed by the woman that she was fighting. The perfect mirroring movements were a sight to behold, and the two great dragons of water that grew and collided in a beautiful clash only made his smile grow. As the water rained down from above, Nayoko sprung into action, reinvigorated by the familiar sight of the legendary dojutsu.

Nayoko wasted no time from that point forward. Deashing forward, the Konoha jounin was acutely aware of he blade that his opponent was using. He knew that if he let that get any measure of hold on his flesh, it would easily rend through him. It was a dangerous thing to fight without a weapon of his own, but his skill in taijutsu would certainly help him fend of the attacks. As he closed the distance, the criminal swung his sword in retaliation and prevented Nayoko from striking him directly. Instead, Nayoko resorted to quick side steps and turning of the blade. Each swing came closer and closer to carving into the jounin’s flash, but Nayoko’s reaction time was superior to the man before him, and so each strike narrowly missed. The wind from the blade moving past him reminded him on the danger with each pass, and the Hattori knew that he could not keep up forever. It was when the man made a particularly low swing for the jounin’s knees that he decided to fight back. Leaping over the sword, the world seemed to slow down as the sage extended his right leg and struck the man in the face. The criminal reeled back in pain and Nayoko followed after him, leaping forward for a follow up strike. But the man was too fast. In an instant, the nukenin threw his hand forward and sent Nayoko flying backwards as countless small cuts opened up on his body. He grimaced form the pain, but managed to regain control of himself as he skidded to a halt a few meters away from his opponent.

With a space between the two ninja, Nayoko took a moment to look toward the ice princess battling close by. It seemed that the fight was mostly going in her favour. The attacks form her advanced elemental nature were catching the woman off guard and leaving her vulnerable to more attacks. It was a perfect situation that Nayoko was confident in. But things changed very quickly when he watched the apprentice of his opponent swing into Verdandi’s blade with such a force that she was thrown into the surrounding barrier. The pain she was in was evident, but she was a strong girl. She was back on her feet in moments, but that did not mean that Nayoko was not concerned. His attention quickly turned back to the man, a new emotion now on his face. The rage that Nayoko felt seeing his comrades in danger was matched in intensity by very few things. As his anger grew, the silver manifestation of his Senjutsu chakra began to flow around him before he decided that it was time to show this fool just how powerful he was.

“You had your chance. Now you will fall to the Butterfly Sage of Konoha!” He shouted at the man as his hair changed from brown to silver and his eyes shifted from dark to a bright blue. Silver marking spread all across his body and two wings of chakra unfurled on his back. His feet lifted only an inch off of the ground, but the display of power was enough to cause the man to take a step back. The Sage quickly weaved a series of hand seals before producing a Blade of Wind in his right hand. The fight was about to end.

Nayoko flew forward; a blur of silver and blue that burned bright with chakra that would be foreign to anyone who had never seen a Sage Mode before. His body was enhanced and his senses were so tuned to everything around him that he did not even need to look over to Verdandi to know that the battle was back in her favour. As he reached the man, Nayoko quickly sidestepped an attack from his sword before swinging up and breaking the blade in an instant. With no defenses left up, Nayoko swung down at the man’s leg and left a deep cut on his thigh. That, combined with the numerous cuts that opened on the man’s body from the mere proximity of the weapon caused him to jump back and strike form a distance. For a brief moment, Nayoko saw the man forming hand seals and felt a gathering of chakra that he knew would be incredibly destructive. Instead of trying to didge it though, Nayoko stood his ground and raised his left hand. Raiton jutsu that the criminal released would have vaporized anyone who was not defended in that moment. But Nayoko stood his ground as the lance of lightning reached him in an instant. The explosion from the force of the attack caused the earth around him to explode, and for a moment, it looked like Nayoko was completely destroyed.

But as the dust settled, Nayoko stood with his left hand still raised. A small burn mark was on his hand, but nothing more. The Sage then clenched the hand into a fist. The fight was over.

Verdandi

Verdandi

D-rank
Verdandi could see Nayoko's seemingly ultimate form in the distance. Her eyes would widen for a moment as her Sharingan gave her a view onto the situation not many ninjas would be aware of. How Nayo's chakra exhaled itself and interconnected with the surroundings. It was beautiful to watch for a moment. But Verd couldn't keep concentrating on him and his powerful opponent. He'd have to find a way to deal with him. That guy seemed to be far past Verdandi's comfortable limits of power she'd try to mess with. The mere supplementary effect of the suiton and raiton barrier alone had hurt Verdandi. Not to speak what could happen if she was to be hit by a real high ranked raiton technique. She probably wouldn't have much to defend herself against such. Verd continued to scout through the area. The dome was large and she was kind of happy to escape the proximity of the other two, higher ranked ninja and as to not get caught in the fray of their techniques. Not long until one of the ice clones Verd had created would be attacked. Verd would quickly catch on her chakras heat signature and follow. The other clone joining in as well, until once again the bladed lady was surrounded by three Verdandi's each of them charging in against her. Quickly using their number to their advantage and force the apprentice to defend herself against multiple blades at once.

Verdandi's reflexes were inhuman at this point. Her perception was raised by her sharingan. Her speed was almost as perfect as the apprentices. But the numbers would make the difference. Using her perception to find an opening, her reflexes to seize the opportunity and her wits to attack with three bodies at once. It wouldn't take long until the apprentice would find herself getting cut down by multiple blades, slicing into her flesh. She screamed loudly. Exhaling a sudden burst of wind chakra from her palms she used up a large amount of energy to blast two huge wind blades onto either side of herself. Completely shattering both frost clones to glassy pieces. Verdandi would feel how her enemy was inhaling for a deep breath just moments afterwards. The bleeding lady covered in cuts and yet she exhaled a large blast of wind that was supposed to tear Verdandi to shreds. Verd was being blasted away. Backwards into a whirlwind that seemingly teared dozens of wind blades over her body. But by the time she dropped from it, by the time the wind chakra subsided. Verd would be seen to glimmer and shine, her body covered in a thick fat layer of ice armor. Cuts that first ought to have broken her skin and badly wounding the princess, were but only shadows on the almost impenetrable armor of frost. Verdandi's superior element showing off blatantly, like a queen on the battlefield she would burst a wave of chakra from her skin. For too long had the apprentice resisted her claim. It was time, time to put her down for good.

Verdandi's body started to continuously glow brighter and brighter with cyan chakra surrounding her. Her body charged forward at full speed. The moment she impacted with her enemy. Swords colliding between them. A thin layer of ice would drop from Verdandi's frost armor. It had taken the previous blow of the apprentice but it was still intact. Furthermore, Verd's chakra started to resonate and glow brighter. She wanted to emit her superiority. She wanted this poor soul to know that, despite her being technically at disadvantage. Verdandi was the far more powerful shinobi between them. She wanted to know that, or to think that. She wanted her to suffer under the feeling of being wounded, bleeding already all over while Verd barely had any cuts on her skin at all. She wanted her to suffer with the fact that she could throw as much wind at her as she wanted. Her covers would just swallow each and every blow of power as it was nothing but a simple breath of air. She wanted her enemy to feel how she was slowly forced to experience Verdandi's strength and bending her lower knee under the force of Verd's heavy, powerful swings with her blade. Aiming to cut her down, through her katana and slice the apprentice in two parts. Verdandi wanted her to know. That was going to kill her enemy and leave nothing but a panic-stricken shell behind in the bloody sand.

Desperation could be seen on her enemy's face as Verd kept smashing her katana down on her opponent. With panic and gasping for help and air she would toss multiple slices of wind chakra against Verdandi, but the Hyouton armor remained. It would become even worse as she tried to blast suiton chakra onto Verdandi. Water guns and water slices. Verd realized the durability of her armor was about to reach its actual limits. The suiton that was thrown at her would just freeze upon contact and slowly crumble into little dust of brittle ice. Following always with Verdandi either punching or kicking her opponent back and slicing her katana down at her. One time… two… three… four. Verd manage to cut into her opponents flesh many times already. Her limbs were obviously at the edge of working anymore. Verdandi could see that the damage she had caused to her enemy's muscles gave her a hard time properly handling her sword. Using it to her advantage. No more hand seals were formed by the apprentice. Ironically the ice armor was about to collapse, only a bit more effort of the apprentice and Verd would have been vulnerable again. But Dandi had another dozen defensive technique at hand in case the ice armor would reach its limits. So, since it didn't she could start to pour her very last chakra reserves into full out offensive measures. Verd's body was already resonating a huge glowing aura of Hyouton chakra anyway. Completely underlining her absolute superiority in this match.

In a last clash of blades. Her opponent used a last means of ninjutsu pressured wind chakra and a very nicely aimed slice of her blade to Verdandi's palm to send her Katana flying. Leaving Verdandi seemingly without weapon and defenceless. However, executing this move had force the apprentice to reveal her own weak spot as her weapon was highly lifted above her head. Verdandi saw that the opportunity to finish the battle had finally arrived. Under a loud scream of determination, Verd formed a huge concentration of chakra in her right palm. The large, cyan bright shining ball of power twirling like a rotating nasty ball filled with chakra of complete and utter devastation, would move forward towards Verdandi's opponent. As her sword came down it'd met too late with the outlines of the chakra ball, the spiralling drill motion would send the Katana flying away. The woman's wrist would be bruised and tossed aside, the ball itself digging and drilling itself brutally three inches deep into her flesh, rendering and tearing skin apart to open a hole into her body. Blood would be coughed up but to make things worse, the actual detonation of the Rasengan would send the girl flying backwards in a huge rotating motion until she roughly and powerfully clashed with her spine against a sand dune behind her. A rather large hole left in her belly, organs had been wasted to shreds where it hit.

It was over. The battle was finished. Verdandi would move about, exhausted. Her chakra pool seemingly emptied by all the adventures she had gone through of late. The shiny, bright Hyouton aura would subside slowly. The ice armor would melt. The sharingan would be closed again and hidden under an eyepatch. Verd moved to pick up her own katana and even that one of her enemy. Slowly making her way to the little hill that her enemy had splat onto. Seeing her eyes filled with tears. Her belly a gruesome reminder of Verdandi what devastating power this technique of hers held within. She was defeated. Helpless. Crying and weak. For a moment. Verdandi felt horrible. She had done this and this woman would now die in such a terrible way. The pain must be unbelievable. But she claimed, she couldn't feel anything. Verd moved close to her. Brushing a palm gently to her cheek. Wiping away one of her tears. Allowing her to close her eyes. Gazing up into the heavens above. No one should ever die with their face buried into the sand. Verd made sure, that she could gaze through the cracks in the dome, to see the sunlight above, to glare into the calm blue of the heavens, to one last time, determine if that cloud above her had a funny or weird shape that resembles something dear to her. Before the final cut of Verdandi's blade sunk into her heart. Ceasing the life within her enemy at last.

Verdandi glared down at her. She had no idea whom she was, why she had been here. Verd was sure that she too had once bright motives on her own. A legit reason to follow this man and fight for their cause, for their ideas, wishes and whims. To fulfil their own dreams and goals. To obtain freedom and joy for themselves. But Verd had taken this out of existence. As many lives as she took, whenever she ended in a situation like this, she couldn't help but think that there is so little that separates the decision that it could be her and not the enemy that now lies in a puddle of their own blood. Gone for good. Verd would grab on the girls buyao an hair-sticks. Pulling them from her. Slowly curling her own, snow-white hair into a pony tail before she pushed the sticks into it. A memento she'd take with her, to not forget whom she had fought with on this day. To honour the enemy, the same as she'd wish for her enemy, if she was ever to be defeated. To honour her loss in a similar fashion, paying the ultimate, final respect. She would be buried here, in the sand. By Verdandi's own hands. That too, was but the simple way of a warrior, the couldn't help but feel compassion for her enemy.

Nayoko seemed to have finished up quite nicely on his own part. Verdandi slowly moved back to catch up with her partner. With the criminals gone, the suiton and raiton barrier had vanished from existence. Allowing the two of them to step out of the valley. They would have a lot to talk about and catch up on each other. As well as to reflect on their both battles. Considering the many adventures that both of them had went through these last few weeks. They would have a lot to talk about. Not to mention Verdandi's hidden little secret weapon she didn't want to show until the very last minute as it seemed. Verd would hope Nayo was able to keep her eye a secret for now. Not many were to know that she had this addition and she hid it quite well so far too. Having a secret weapon is always better than revealing your tricks to the enemy. Long their talks would be, a lot to discuss. But the details of those, would just be the begin of another story.

Nayoko

Nayoko

D-rank
There comes a moment in every battle when one of the participants knows they have lost. Most of the time, this happens just before a killing blow is delivered, or when a mortal wound is taken that they know they cannot recover from during the fight. For the Hoshigaki that was fighting Nayoko Hattori, the ANBU captain of the Village Hidden in the Leaves, that moment had come. They were both still standing, and the injuries that both of them had received were far from fatal; Nayoko could feel warm blood seeping from the hundreds of cuts across his face and hands from where the fuuton technique had hit him. His robe was torn up and ragged, but the aesthetic of it all was probably more intimidating than anything. Now in his Sage Mode, the student of the Mizukage shone brightly in the darkened space. The blood on his face was the least noticeable feature thanks to his now silver hair and the large wings of chakra that appeared to have sprouted from his back. He stood the splendor of the nature chakra that flowed around and through them all, but he could mold it to his will now. His body was enhanced, and his perception was beyond that of any normal shinobi. He could sense everything around him, including the fight of his ally and the man’s apprentice. The momentum had shifted for both of them, and now the battle was coming to a close. The twisted Hoshigaki knew that though, but his response was that of a foolish and arrogant man, not of a patient ninja that had trained for years. Instead of fleeing or surrendering, the man gripped his broken blade tighter in his right hand and let out a wordless shout of rage. He charged forward, and Nayoko was not about to go on the defensive here. Matching the criminal’s motion, the Hattori ran forward as well.

Music:

The broken katana of the nukenin and the Blade of Wind belonging to the Konoha ANBU clashed one again. They held together for a moment before breaking apart into a dance of blades that was already decided. The man’s broken blade meant he was forced to wait on the defensive as Nayoko struck again and again from all directions. The blade of wind in his right hand swung from every angle as the man struggled to parry, block, or dodge each strike with his blade that had already been cleaved apart. The short reach of the broken sword meant that there was no way the Hattori could be caught off guard. His eyes followed the weapon with ease, and even if he looked away for a moment, his Senjutsu sensory technique was more than enough to make up for not seeing the weapon moving. Taking advantage of the ability, Nayoko simply started down into he man’s eyes as he swung again and again, a simple scowl denoting displease on his face. The man did not notice for a while since he was so focused on not being carved into multiple pieces. But after a moment or two of the endless assault, the criminal caught Nayoko’s eyes. And what he saw was only cruelty in its purest form. As the man’s eyes went wide, the ANBU took his opportunity to strike. The punch came from his left hand and connected firmly with the criminal’s abdomen, cracking a few ribs and sending his foe back from him, creating a gap between them.

It was the briefest of moments, but in that small span of time where he was flying backward, the criminal managed to weave together a series of hand seals that produced a jutsu Nayoko was familiar with. He could have matched it to stop the attack, but the fuuton jutsu was moving so quickly that he instead chose to simply activate a defensive jutsu at will, causing the great vacuum sphere to dissipate without Nayoko so much as lifting a finger. He saw his enemy’s eyes further widen with panic as what was likely his last chance to slow Nayoko down was dismissed as if it was nothing. He now simply stared with an open mouth as the Hattori stood still for a moment, allowing the criminal to know fear before his death. Then, in the blink of an eye, Nayoko dashed forward while enhancing his movement with such speed that he appeared to vanish, only to reappear just beside and past the man while completely carving off his right arm. As the arm spun through the air and blood sprayed around him, Nayoko grinned. Pivoting one foot, the Hattori snatched the man’s broken blade form the air as it fell and then threw it forward into the spine of the criminal. The blade did the rest of the word, stabbing straight through the man and emerging from the other side.

Nayoko let his blade of wind vanish into nothingness as he walked slowly over to the man whose blood covered his body. The barely living man crumpled to his knees, unable to stand thanks to the paralysis resulting form his severed spine. Blood was pouring out of where his arm was once attached as well as his mouth. The Hattori slowly walked around the fallen foe and stared down at him, his Senjutsu chakra still licking the air around him for a few more moments before he left his sage mode. The Verdandi’s battle was also over, so there was no point in staying in the taxing form. Finally, with Nayoko staring down at the destroyed leader of the criminals he and Verd had been tracking for so long, the man fell face first into the sand and died. As life left him, the barrier around them faded away and allowed the Sun of the Land of Wind to once again scorch their skin.

The pair of allied ninja left the valley together and talked along the way, speaking of the battles they had both taken par tin and explaining the hidden powers that they had used. Nayoko was sure to inquire about her control over the Sharingan as well as her advanced nature release. They spoke of length until hey eventually returned to their camp where they would ready themselves for their next mission and adventure together. For now, the Land of Wind was slightly safer thanks to them.
