It was to be expected. With Sunagakure in ruins, rural gangs decided to mark 'their' territory, local leaders having tended to the wounded rose up to protect 'their' flock and underground politics rose up to claim 'their' authority. Laïs had never truly cared about anything else but herself, enjoying her own wiles and imposing her dominance. Though little had changed today, she did promise loyalty to Lamya in favour of her own growth. To now sit here lurking on top of a rebuild chapel, spending her time observing these petty politics was rather an amusing occupation as she contemplated how ignorant these rising powers seemed to be to the real power of her mistress, Lamya.

Yes, it was to be expected that some people would be arrogant enough to believe Lamya would not pay attention to such small plays of power when she claimed total authority over the ruins of Sunagakure. While it was true that the Snake Sage herself would not stoop down to deal with something that was far beyond her power, far not deserving her personal time, she did not allow these vermin to undermine her authority. No, she sent out the next best thing to deal with such an uprising under the idea that Laïs could use the training to figure out the extend of her own powers and seek how to improve upon it. The crow sage smiled at the thought. Yes, she'd gladly swoop down from the skies to terrorize and punish those foolish enough to steal power from her mistress.

Spotting a couple of the rising 'crime lords', Laïs raised the hood on her ash grey feathered cloak to hide her identity, now only visible as one dark ashen shadow bearing the Ryujin's kamon. Today, she would come as a messenger. A grim messenger, since the deal was to take them out without mercy. All but one of them, since the news would have to be spread. The appearance of the 'Ash Crow', the word that Lamya was watching their very move, and that consequences would follow for those daring to gather together to oppose her. Laïs would be nothing more but a messenger.

Watching quietly as the targets gathered, one of them took a crate, stepped up and started to preach to the crowd. His cronies nodded in confirmation to his words about how they would protect the people from brigands, watch over them as a vigilante and how it was better for the people to join them in unity. "Despicable", so thought the crow sage who was used to experience real power. "Empty words and false promises.". She would feel no remorse tearing through them and displaying their dead bodies as a warning for future fools who thought they'd have to cause chaos among the people. No, only one person was powerful enough to shepherd those unfortunate enough to have lost their home and life, and that was Risu Orochi.

After his meet with Yosei, Tenjin decided to explore what used to be one of the major villages in the shinobi world. Tenjin then noticed that the crime level in the Hidden Sand is too high. Tenjin is not a fan of the surrounding criminal activities, and although this is not his village, the young shinobi sympathizes with the land. It's all because of their recent lack of a Kage, Iwagakure was in a similar situation, but luckily the council was able to keep most of the village running smoothly. The authority of a ninja as an institution has decreased in the ruins of Sunagakure no sato, and people are starting to band together even within the village to cause trouble and hoard scarce resources. Tenjin wanted to show them that they can't just get away with whatever they want. In an attempt to hoard resources, someone was going around committing thievery and taking things that weren't theirs from other people and small shops that were selling what they can just to survive. The young chunin stretched his body as he knew it was going to take a little bit of work in finding this thief and decided to simply perform some reconnaissance from the street level. He looked around as he began to walk and blend in with the people roaming the streets as he looked at people simply going about their business in this wasteland of a village. He'd try and be as incognito as possible to try and not draw too much attention to himself, keeping on his Yin yang outfit and leaving no trace of his Iwagakure origins.

He decided he'd start by investigating the places that had suffered from high frequencies of thefts as he walked over to a man who was selling goods from a carriage, and saw that the small store was in the process of trying to put things back together as he looked around and tried to see anything that stood out as a clue that could point him to the culprit. He looked over toward the displays that once had ninja tools and certain accessories and jewelry and asked the man what was taken, the man responded that it was the most expensive of the jewelry that had been taken. He looked around the glass case for clues before looking at the pillow that the jewels stayed upon as he noticed a few strands of fabric, from what he deduced were from gloves, as he took these strands and examined them closely before pocketing it. Tenjin decided to utilize the color and texture of the remanence of the glove in order to find a culprit with the accessory.

Even if a dead end it was still a clue as he kept it out of sight in his pocket for now before continuing down the road to another target place that the thief had hit. He walked into another small shop, this was a man sitting in the street with goods spread atop of a blanket the man placed in front of him. This appeared like a small weapons shop, as multiple katanas had been swiped as well as kunais and shurikens as he examined area for any more clues that may have been mistakenly left behind. He noticed something out of the corner of his eye as he blinked in curiosity and went over to pick it up. To his delight it was one of the jewels that had been stolen from the shop that he had visited previously. An assurance that it was certainly the same criminal, Tenjin then walked away from the shop and hopped up onto one of the nearby broken rooftops before taking the jewel out of his pocket. He would then hit a jackpot as he smiled and nodded after seeing a man that was wearing the gloves he was looking for, before following the man who appeared to be the suspect.

Tenjin covertly followed him as he walked along a trail in order to get to the possible suspect of thievery without being noticed. He hopped along the rooftops, keeping a watchful eye on the man as he went, as the man lead him back down to the street after a few minutes of rooftop hopping. He followed him the rest of the way before he stopped in front of a small gathering of individuals in a secluded slum. He took that as a sign that this was gang activity and the man surely has backup. But he couldn't just break into gang meeting on his own. He would first need to get himself some backup. But the young shinobi didnt know where he would start considering that this is not his village nor does he know anybody but his now sensai, so Tenjin just gave a big gulp as he attempted to get his mind right for what was going to happen. When Tenjin felt a sufficient amount of adrenaline coursing through his body, he would begin the charge. Seeing a man standing on a crate giving an emphatic speech to his patrons, Tenjin would wait for the man to raise his hand before utilizing his ace eye and tossing a senbon right into his wrist. Once the man flinched in agony, Tenjin would throw the another senbon right at the mans other wrist, which caused him to fall backwards on his back. Someone then yelled, “What just happened?!” and Tenjin then saw the crowd turn toward him as someone else yelled, “He threw it!” The crowd then livened up as they charged at Tenjin but Tenjin without remorse would Take out his Tanto and charge at the gang as well to engage in close quarter combat.

As more people gathered to listen to the ignorant falsities of the speakers, an unusual character appeared in the dark of an alley and revealed himself in the clearing where the people stood. His clothes, his style, just about everything about him screamed 'stranger', but stranger was the fact that he interfered with the gathering for his own reasons, throwing senbon at the speaker. Then all hell broke loose. To the crow sage, this was a somewhat fortunate turn of events as it gave her a beautiful distraction for her to eliminate the other couple of targets she had to deal with, mainly the cronies of the man that was now whining at the wounds in his wrists. As for the third party to join the gathering, she somewhat felt sorry she would have to use him as a sacrificial doll, but he did volunteer for that, didn't he?

Laïs stood up and used the ridge of the roof as her stepstone to jump as far as she possibly could, using the higher ground to her advantage. When she felt she was about to come down, she somersaulted and made sure to land feet first on one of the cronies still standing in the back while the others were shouting orders to get the unlucky man that had barged into their gathering. Strength and gravity combined, a sickening crunch followed in its wake, killing the first man with so much as no warning or chance to retaliate. Of course, the unusual sound of his bones betraying the inevitable death caused by the black-clad Jugo instantly drew the attention of the other three remaining cronies nearby.

Invoking her Jugo blood, Laïs' skin turned a slate grey, her finger nails turned into sharpened claws and her elbows grew claws akin to the prehistoric pterodactyls. As she raised to meet their angered gaze with her own amethyst eyes, the battle madness of the Jugo apparent in her gaze, smiling brightly at the soon-to-be fulfilled expectation of artistically spraying their blood all over the place, the fear in their eyes grew stronger by the second.

"Harken the flap of my wings.", was all she said before she started a feverish dance of lethal kicks and blood-tasting claw scratches. What didn't kill the cronies on the first notice was about to leave a terrifying infection as the crow sage's necrotic energy slowly seeped under their skin and into their blood stream, turning once healthy flesh into a nasty infection. Holding nothing back, all but one of the four cronies was downright being butchered. The last one, along with the preacher, was being preserved with a specific reason in mind. A lesson her mistress had imprinted upon her not too long ago - certain people held information worth for extraction. Assuming the preacher would be the most valuable one on that aspect, she simply kept the other one alive to toy with him, perhaps use him as a tool to break the preacher's spirit. Still, just to make sure that the two of them would not escape, she dragged the senbon-wounded man to a nearby wooden stake and pinned him on it with the senbon Tenjin had thrown at him. As for the other one, who was partially inflicted with necrosis already, she merely knocked him out cold much like Tenjin had done before, dragging him to the preacher and dropping him onto his legs.

"Run away, and I'm going to haunt you.", his reply being a wail of desperation.

With her targets dealt with, Laïs turned her gaze to the crowd that had rushed to deal with Tenjin. Surprisingly, she could see quite a few of the people crawling away in pain, some even having suffered severe wounds as blood gushed out wherever the stranger had struck them. It somewhat worried her, as she had expected him to be dealt with rather swiftly for his impudence, and so she allowed her sage senses to reach out to the man in question. What surprised her even more was the familiarity of the chakra signature she sensed, as it was one she had been in the vicinity of on several occasions.

Tenjin.

Not quite sure how or why Tenjin was here in Suna, she changed her mind on having him being beaten up by the crowd and decided to come to his aid. Plucking the feathers she had grown with her combat transformation, she threw them three by three into the crowd before picking up six more senbon from her pouch to do the same. While it certainly wasn't enough to take them out, the stinging sensation a small dozen of these people felt was certainly enough for them to turn their attention away from Tenjin and look about them in a bewildered fashion until they spotted the young woman under the effects of the Jugo's natural cursed seal. One after another tapped a comrade nearby in confusion or fear, forcing the gang to split in two smaller groups with different targets.

"I will bring death upon those foolish enough to oppose the Ryujin, or who fail to leave that kid alone."

Tenjin being a well trained chunin at this point was not going to go down easy versus these bandits, as he swiftly made quick works of them utilizing his Tanto. The young shinobi had no reason to kill these characters, but was definitely under the impression that he needed to show them enough force to fear taking illegal actions once again. It was Tenjins attempt to makeup for not being in the Land of Wind to remedy its destruction, not that the young shinobi was capable of making any serious change to the outcome as he has not reached his peak conditioning. As the gang neared Tenjin, he would simply slice and dice his way to the middle of the crowd, and when reaching the center point, he would throw his Tanto to impel a bandit on his shoulder, while simultaneously catching a bunch that was thrown at him to simply break the mans wrist and pull him toward Tenjin so that he can utilize him as a human shield versus a flurry of punches being thrown at him.

Placing the body on top, Tenjin went down with a crowd of bandits stomping and punching the body as he hid behind until he felt it was an appropriate time to utilize his Repulsion Technique. Expelling a great amount of chakra from his body, Tenjin was able to produce a strong repulsive force, great enough to be able to break bones with concussive force and push targets, even at a distance. This caused the crowd of herding bandits to fly up and away from Tenjin, including the body he was using as a human shield. Tenjin got up with ease and efficient speed, and noticed a group coming at him before they were stopped by an unbenounced attacker that hit them from behind. As the group looked back, took this as an opportunity to attack them from behind. Half of them got wind of this sneak attack and split up from the group as the gang split their attacking force into two in order to attempt to handle the two targets that they were now facing.

Tenjin was able to kick one of the shinobi on the chest with both feet, and using his body as a spring to jump backwards while committing a series of flips to land in front of the man that was impelled by the Tanto. Tenjin grabbed the handle while placing his foot on the bandits chest and slid his weapon out of the mans shoulders which caused blood to poor out as it no longer had a plug to keep it in place. Tenjin then charged at the bandits who were again closing in, but this time Tenjin made sure to keep them down for the count by utilizing his small sword to cut their arms as they swung to attack the young shinobi. Tenjins movements were slick to say the least, no wasted maneuvers as he ducked from the first punch while keeping his Tanto up so that the man himself can cut himself with the passing of his fist grinding upon the edge of the small sword. The next man wasnt so lucky as Tenjin twisted his body with the Tanto extended causing the bandit to be sliced on his forearm, and when Tenjin stopped his turn he would again strike the same target on the same cut with tenacious speed which didnt give him enough time to respond to the pain of the first blow. This all happened rather fast, and before Tenjin knew it, the crowd that remained scattered like ants in a hurry.

Tenjin stopped all of what he was doing to take a closer look at the person who assisted him in this mission. Tenjin, not being a proficient chakra sensory shinobi was confused as to who this could be, that could blatantly attempt to protect him and ‘those who oppose the Ryujin?’ Tenjin has no idea who this Ryujin is but his curiosity was certainly highetened by the inquiry. Tenjin awaited till this mystery person finished with the enemies before he confronted this person as to why they would fight alongside him, so Tenjin took this opportunity to attempt to investigate based on this person's hidden appearance. The cloak that this person was sporting is an ashen grey cloak able to cover the wearer's entire body. The large hood attached allowed this person to cloak their identity in shadows, hiding most of the face, so Tenjin didnt know who this was, while the shoulders and back have been covered in black iridescent feathers appearing very similar to that of ravens and crows, little bird skulls serving as a decorative clasp that keeps the cloak closed. On the back of the cloak, a black sign was obvious but Tenjin was still unknown to its meaning. Tenjin gave up on trying to figure this person out and instead just waited for the right opportunity to talk to this individual. Tenjin then proceeded to dust himself off.

Caught in a cross fire with heavy casualties on one side and their head figures dead on the other, the crowd of petty criminals decided it was a better idea to disperse and flee than to continue facing the wrath of the unknown shinobi or the messenger of the Ryujin. Only but a few confused scramblers would remain, completely oblivious of their partners fleeing for their lives. They would not remain standing for long, no matter the side they picked for their raving antics.

Whoever the cloaked figure was, the bandits had never seen a Ryujin adorned with raven feathers, but most of the slums were well aware of the whispers spreading about the name. The power that had reclaimed the ruins of Sunagakure for her own and was now rebuilding it into her own image. That faction, while news, was backed by a power that would not be denied in the slightest as her shadow slowly but steadily grew greater to cloak the whole of Sunagakure under her will. Orochi "Lamya" Risu, known in the ruins as the 'Dragon Empress', was the driving force behind the Ryujin.

With all but her own two prisoners having fled, Tenjin and Laïs were now the only two still remaining in the area, and as such the crow sage lowered the hood of her cloak as the slate grey colouring her skin was pulling away and her claws returned to normal finger nails. Her amethyst eyes watched how Tenjin casually dusted off himself after having dealt with the biggest mass of the bandits as if it was nothing. She chuckled, flashing him the wry smile she often held up.

"My, my. Who would have thought I'd see my personal sensei again, here in these ruins of all places. I hope you didn't take a wrong turn somewhere when leaving Kumogakure. What brings you here?"

Having asked her question, she would move over to the only two bandits remaining as she kept an ear open for Tenjin's answers. The stigmatic man against the pole had turned white by now, most likely not used to such a gruesome treatment from strangers, babbling on as he promised all the money and information she wanted if only he was allowed to live. Laïs chuckled. She loved the idea of money but the thought of displeasing her mistress by not improving upon her own skills was a nightmare far worse to endure than the lack of money.

"You two will be coming with me, I'm afraid."

She would whistle hard between her teeth, and a couple of seconds later a handful of black cloaked figures would heed her summons, all of them bearing the same kamon as the one on the back of her own cloak. Ryujin. Pointing at the two bandits, she'd make her desires clear about having them imprisoned, upon which the group picked them up and vanished again.

Tenjin was surprised to see the long black hair, wandering kunoichi with amethyst eyes gaining a claret hue when the moonlight reflected onto them. As usual, her poise was mostly filled with a kind expression when revealing her true identity. Tenjin was sure that it was Lais due to her skin being rather fair of complexion with a body into of lissom figure. Tenjin was baffled by the fact that Lais knew who he was despite his head to toe uniform, and thought that maybe this disguise isn’t going to do as good of a job as he thought to keep his identity a secret. Tenjin laughed a bit as he unmasked himself and pulled his hood back, all in one motion. With his right hand in the back of his head he would smile and ask, “You know, after all this time we’ve met, I don’t know much about you. How did you know it was me?” Tenjin was aware of the types of sensory techniques out in the world as he himself possesses one that is non-chakra sensing, but he was curious as to what kind of sensory type of Kunoichi is Lais. Tenjin while talking noticed Lais walk back and tell a pair of bandits that they are under arrest of some type, but this confused the young shinobi as he hasn’t heard of a Sunagakure that is stable and still running a legal system.

Tenjin inquired about these events asking, “So are you a law enforcer now?” Clearly asking with curiosity in his voice. Tenjin wanted to see how far Lais has came with her studies already completed. As an Academy Student, she would have passed the class ahead of her classmates surely considering how quick she was to retaining the new data being received. Tenjin walked up to Lais after the men disappeared, wanting to know who they are and what the symbol on her cloak truthfully meant. All these question were definitely going to be asked if Lais doesn’t already answer them with her answer to the last question asked. Tenjin then put the mask back on his face because although Lais knew who he was, he was still attempting to keep his identity secretive to the majority of the population that remained in the Sunagakure slums. Tenjin placed his hood back on and after reaching where Lais was, he stuck his hand out in order to shake it with the mysterious kunoichi. After getting formalities out of the way, he hoped to start an in depth conversation as to what is going on in this area, as there isn’t much word of activities here outside of its borders.

His true identity revealed, Tenjin proceeded to reveal his face as much as she done. He laughed, surprised that despite everything he wore to conceal himself, she had still succeeded at identifying his true identity. It was no secret to her, she had always had a knack for recognising people. At first she had considered it a gut feeling, but progressively in life she had come to understand that it was the benefit of being a 'sage'. Amused by his surprise, she grinned before she'd reveal her little secret.

"Every person has a distinct chakra signature that makes the recognisable to certain forms of detection. Since I was able to read yours a couple of times before, it's not too hard to recognise it. I am a natural sage of sorts. Detection in my vicinity is what I do."

Tenjin was the teacher of elements and specialisations. He would certainly understand what she meant when she stated she was a sage. If he would hold enough knowledge to know the difference between natural sages and those who had learned the Sage Form through Sage Animals would be another level of knowledge. She knew from Lamya it meant she had 'purer' natural chakra, every one of her cells already attuned to senjutsu chakra since birth before being able to learn a Sage Form herself, but other than that the abilities were seemingly the same.

Tenjin's next question had the girl think for a while though. Was she a law enforcer..? No, not really. There weren't any laws to speak of in effect just yet as the reconstruction of Sunagakure, or rather that of the Ryujin Empire was still in full construction. The bandits running rampant were mostly opposing factions trying to undermine the development and reinstatement of the Ryujin's undeniable power around here.

"No, not quite. I'm simply making sure the Dragon Empress can continue the construction of her empire and the expansion of her absolute might without too much obstacles. As it currently is, this region has hardly any laws so everyone tries to claim their part of the cake. But the Ryujin are driven by a power wishing to unite the ruins under one banner again."

What would that make her? The clean-up crew? The vanguard? An ANBU of sorts? There were probably quite a few names that would fit, but she considered herself a messenger who came to bring and collect messages. She had now brought fear in those who had fled, she had taken down a couple of main targets. The message had been delivered. In turn, she would take a couple of the more knowledgeable men with her for interrogations, so that she could plan the next spot to bring her messages.

The question was now, what would she do with Tenjin? He had yet to tell her why he was here. Though Iwa shinobi had no claims here, that didn't make him less dangerous as a shinobi, or a spy.

"If you so wish, I could bring you to the Dragon Empress."

Tenjin was surprised to know that Lais was a Sage, as he thought that Sages were old and at times even all knowing. But the young chunin accepted that this was ignorance that got the better of him, and that he shouldn’t stereotype anyone in regards to their specializations. Tenjin was then all ears when he heard Lais next words, ‘Dragon Empress?’ the young chunin thought. ‘Who was she, and is she trying to rebuild a new Sunagakure or just a new village all together?’ Tenjin then wondered again, “Who are the Ryujin?’ Tenjin was baffled by the activities of the newly destroyed Sunagakure, as it appears to have a lively community of shinobi that has been staying in the shadows unbenounced to any of the major villages, or at least Iwagakure no sato for that matter. Tenjin being enthralled by his curiosity couldn’t help to wait and see who this Dragon Impress was that Lais was talking about. But Tenjin was more so cautious of this meeting as well, being in these ruins with nobody to consider an Iwagakure shinobi meant that he could be betrayed in no time at all, but the young shinobi came all this way in search for power and he wasn’t going to turn around when a ‘friend’ was trying to introduce him to a force, powerful enough to orchestrate a conquest of a foreign land. Tenjin may be biting more than he could chew, but again, he couldnt help himself but be able to put himself out there for the world to see and know his name, and he, equally to see the world and know the names of those who are shaping it. Tenjin thoroughly thought about the request, and came to a decision. Before he started speaking again, he put his mask back on.

“The Dragon Empress you say…” After a short pause, Tenjin would continue, “I have met an allie in these ruins. Let me check with him to see if there are any new missions for him and I to take. Afterwards, I’ll go meet your Empress. I’m sure that would make for an interesting meeting.” Tenjin would then turn his back on Lais and before leaving he would finally ask, “So where would I be able to find you so that you can introduce me to the Dragon Empress?” This was a short question that asked for nothing more than a short answer, and after the answer, the young shinobi would body flicker out of the location with the flicker appearing more like a teleportation technique leaving no dust or tracks behind. The young chunin was eager to meet this Empress, but he didnt want to be hasty and thought that he would discuss this meeting first with Yosei, considering that he has been in these deserts, he must know who this Empress could be. Tenjin has no enemy, but that does not mean that he does not need to be cautious, as very step the young shinobi takes outside of Iwagakure must be taken with the utmost care for his own safety above all else.

Tenjin stumbled from surprise into surprise by the looks of it. It was a funny sight to see, since he had always given Laïs the impression he was quite smart and observant. Not that she could fault him for not being aware of Sunagakure's activities. Even Laïs didn't know half of it. The girl did take it upon her to slowly but steadily map out what remained of the former Village with intention to provide Risu with the necessary reports. The details would allow her to map out the next construction projects while sending out the Ryujin to deal with uprisings and potential threats that would aim to slow down the Dragon Empress's growth. Laïs was slowly working up her own identity towards an ANBU of sorts, even if there was no Village that would offer her the option to officially become one.

Nodding at Tenjin's desire to meet the ally, she would point him in the right direction as to where he would be able to find Orochi Risu. The heart of the Ryujin would be marked by the construction of colossal eight-headed glass hydra, the trademark beast belonging to the Snake Sage of legends.

"Just move in that direction. You'll quickly understand where the Empress resides once you lay eyes upon a peculiar construction."

Her answer given, Tenjin would then flicker away from sight, leaving the crow sage on her own with an envious look upon her face for this simple but fun technique he just used. Ninjutsu effects wasn't something she could replicate, so she raised the hood on her cloak again to mask her identity and started to jump from building to buiding again, returning home to interrogate the two men she had requested delivered. The thought of trying out her necrosis for torture practises and the idea of being able to extract information of worth were two exciting prospects to look out for. It was just a matter of learning how to properly do so as there would be no point in killing her prisoners too quickly.
