A new day, a new request. Laïs was quite surprised to hear she was to help out in taking out a couple of kids together with an Iwa-nin. As an outsider, she had not expected that she'd be meddling in the business of Iwa's budding Forces who, so it seemed, was already walking a shady path. Personally, she didn't mind that the kids were skimming the laws and resolving to petty theft as she herself was not quite the law-abiding sort herself, but a mission was a mission and she couldn't afford to cause troubles in a place she hardly knew. Having accepted the mission, the young woman left the rented room she lived in for the time being and walked down the streets to the place where they were supposed to meet - the Academy.

As she strolled down the road, her mind wandered in search of any information she held concerning the shinobi's hierarchy and functions. She had heard about the Academy students, and the 'genin' considering she was being labelled as one, understanding that both had little say in how things were done around here. There was also a 'Shadow' that lurked behind the scenes, delegating duties and holding a position similar to the village lord. So she assumed there were various ranks in between that functioned much like a military chain of command between the genin and the Kage, but that was about all she knew. The term 'shinobi' was not something she was very familiar with, and as such she missed much of its spirit and their approach in life. No, she was a young woman, a budding crow sage taught by two occultists, driven by the monstrous blood of the Jugo that flowed through her veins, and selected by a greater being that defied all reason - Lamya. Just because of her heretic upbringing in the Land of Demons she had to work hard to collect as much understanding of the shinobi world she found herself in now.

Eventually reaching the Academy, Laïs would lean against a nearby wall a little in front of the building, lighting up a cigarette from the pack she got in a previous mission. She wasn't much of a smoker. In fact, she rarely smoked, but since she got it, she guessed she could just as much smoke them up while she waited for her shinobi colleague to appear. Grey smoke curled up and around her raven black hair, her amethyst eyes observing the area as they scanned for the presence of a shinobi. Though she couldn't say if she would actually be able to spot him - she hadn't been able to spot her other contact either until he was right next to her - as a sage, she had other means to detect the approaching presence of creatures alike. These days, however, she couldn't use her senjutsu senses without invoking the memory of a most fearsome experience and an inevitable hint to an indistinct direction of which she could only assume to be Lamya's general direction - wherever that was.

Snapping out of her thoughts as a bell rang, the Academy suddenly got crowded as people walked in and out. Laïs could only wonder... Was this place really like school? Did they take writing and vocal tests to be come a shinobi or something? It seemed like a strange concept that one would have to pass tests just to become a ninja, and as such she pushed back the odd thoughts with another pull of her cigarette, blowing out the smoke a few seconds later. If school was over now, she guessed the Iwa-nin would not tarry much longer lest he risked to lose sight of the Academy Gang.

The weather outside was calm and cool today. A slight breeze blew through the air as the sun reached its highest point in the sky in Iwagakure no sato. Having received a new mission, Tenjin found a quite place to review the briefing scroll and learn what he could before embarking in this new agenda. As he read the scroll, he couldn't believe his eyes. Finally, a mission that might actually challenge him! According to the scroll he was to eliminate a small group of academy student who are acting as bandits that had been causing some trouble near the Academy, harassing travelers and things like that. He was instructed to either capture them or scare them off, as long as they didn't come back it was completely up to him. It also had some information on the bandits themselves. It appeared that they weren't very strong individually which is why they stuck together, creating a gang of some sort. It didn't really matter though as Tenjin would have no problem fighting off kids like this.

Putting the scroll back in his gi, he set off towards the academy school. The travel to the Acamdemy school was a short one due to Tenjin always staying in the academic district on Iwagakure no sato for a majority of his time. With no time to lose he jumped high into the nearest tree and began traveling, taking a ‘short cut’ in the form of jumping from tree to tree and over buildings to match. Tenjin was running towards where he figured he would find his targets. As he was traveling he drummed a few strategies in his head of how he was going to handle this. The mission has assigned Tenjin a partner, and he was informed that this person wasn’t from Iwagakure. So most likely he would probably be tasked with just picking them all off one by one, but considering that this is a C rank mission, there is probably a great deal of academy students in this gang. He needed to send a message and make sure they never came back. So the best way to do that was to fight them all head on with his teammate. For some reason Tenjin was feeling overly joyious today, which is unusual considering that he rarely shows his emotions, so he thought that this must be caused dut to the fact that he would be aloud to indulge himself in a task to protect the village in some way or another on this particular mission.

Nearing the academy, Tenjin was able to pass by where the bandits were last spotted, so he began moving much faster and stealthier to avoid giving himself away before it was the necessary time. Hearing some chatter near his location he slowly crept in to see what it could be, and here they were, Tenjin saw them as soon as he drew close enough to the sounds he heard. There were five of them from what Tenjin could tell right off the bat. Other than the number he noticed a few more things about these troublesome academy student, things like the fact they didn't appear to be equipped or armored which would make his life much easier in the long run. They were oblivious to Tenjin's presents, sitting roughly ten or so meters away up in the trees. They were in a small opening between the trees, however, large branches still sat high above them. That gave Tenjin a little idea as to how he would start this off.

Tenjin then quickly turned around and began dashing toward the Academy school once again. While nearing the academy, Tenjin began to walk to where he was ordered to meet his partner. While walking, Tenjin saw a women who appeared older than he was, yet her jet black hair, fair skin, and thin frame made her almost appear younger that Tenjin. Tenjin thought this wasnt the case due to the women smoking what looked like a cigarette, as the smoke formed and swiftly dissapaited around her long silked hair.

As Tenjin approached, he would introduce himself, “Hey, you must be Laïs.” Tenjin paused to let her answer before he continued, “As you may know, my name is Tenjin. The mission dossier actually has you pegged as an outsider. Is this true? If so, i’ve never worked with someone from outside of my village inside of Iwagakure no sato.” After a short exchange, Tenjin would further discuss the mission objective, “On my way over here I actually saw the gang of Academy students hanging near the stores. I suspect that if they are troublesome individuals, that they are plotting something now. We should go before they get started.” After speaking, Tenjin would travel to the location where he saw the bandits, and he would further give Laïs details on what he saw.

With the moving crowd appeared a kid about a decade younger than her, perhaps a little older than that. At first, she thought it was just a child wishing to ask her something, but the way he strode forward, his muscled build and the way he seemed to glare at the world discarded every notion of him being 'just a child'. What's more was that the boy straight walked up to her and called her name. As he guessed her to be Laïs, she blew out the last of smoke in a direction away from him and crushed the last bit of the cigarette she was smoking.

"That's right".
“As you may know, my name is Tenjin. The mission dossier actually has you pegged as an outsider. Is this true? If so, i’ve never worked with someone from outside of my village inside of Iwagakure no sato.”

The same was to be said on her side. She had never worked together with a shinobi and would certainly not be used to whatever 'cooperation' the shinobi was used to. Laïs generally only cooperated with the Beast Within, and even that was a doubtful symbiosis at best.

"That's right. I hail from the Land of Demons, and much like you, I've never cooperated with a ah... shinobi. Of any Village, for that matter. So, since you're member of the ruling Forces here, I'll leave it to you to call the shots."

The idea to follow a boy this young was a bit of an awkward thought and would probably push her to bite her tongue on a regular base. Kids, though some could be smart, lacked the experience of an adult. Even though she couldn't exactly call this kid as inexperienced as most others of his age, a young woman like her could only wonder how much insight he'd have gained through shinobi training.

“On my way over here I actually saw the gang of Academy students hanging near the stores. I suspect that if they are troublesome individuals, that they are plotting something now. We should go before they get started.”

She nodded in confirmation. While a large group of thugs was generally easy to spot, she knew from her personal experience that bratty bandits generally knew the streets well and had their own little tricks to escape chasing adults and parents alike. She smiled wryly, remembering the mischief and malevolence she had caused herself. Unlike these academy students, it often involved a bloody mess as the Jugo's blood generally didn't back down from a fight. Whoever it was, friend or foe, the Beast would taste blood. So with both agreeing action needed to be taken, Tenjin lead the way and Laïs followed in his wake.

"I'm unfamiliar with academy students or shinobi in general. Is there anything in particular I should be aware of? Information, a certain strategy you had in mind?"

She wasn't sure how the two of them were to take down a handful of them as, unlike her mentor, she didn't have the tangible sort of clones to conjure. She was fast and could fly, perhaps even use her senjutsu senses to track them down, but the authorities had clearly asked not to use violence. As a taijutsu specialist, that seemed a rather difficult concept as a physical approach of taking down one brat left little means to deal with the others at the same time.

Tenjin's trek to the location where he saw the academy student gang finally begins as he started dashing toward his destination. While running, the pair were able to thoroughly communicate on their current circumstance. “You’re not familiar with the shinobi system huh?” Tenjin paused for a little before continuing after his rhetorical question, “Academy students are nothing to worry about. At most, they have a minor skill set on a certain specialization and element, and in a special case, they may posses two specializations or elements. Technically, the only jutsus they should know is the clone technique, the rope escape technique, the body replacement technique, and finally the transformation technique. Yet again, if their skill set is more developed, you may be surprised with other jutsus within their arsenal.” This is all the information Tenjin believes she will need on the academy school student, to go of course with the fact that the gang will be carrying kunais as well. When the pair arrived to their destination, they hid on top of some tree branches that hung over the group of bandits. Tenjin began noting the several academy students walking around boisterously carrying their blades sloppily, Tenjin scowls at this as he disliked people in his village causing trouble.

Tenjins eyes followed their movements as he covertly kept himself hidden from the gang and said “Because there is 5 gang members, I think we should divide the task up between each other. I will take the three fursthest away while you focus on the two closest. We are advised not to use force on the dossier, but honestly, we should restrain these kids as well as we can.” Tenjin would then ask his partner, “are you ready?” As soon as Tenjin asks this and receives an answer, whether yes or no, it didnt matter as he retrieves 5 senbons from his pouch with his left hand and with a well aimed flick of his wrist the senbons were thrown with his ace eye pin point accuracy right toward the kunais of each of the academy students. Tenjin drops from his perch silently and dashed toward the one academy student that was standing furthest from him, passing right through the entire gang. Tenjin speed (being D-3) was too fast for the young kids to handle as Tenjin appeared in front of the kid before he knew it. Still surprised and stunned at the fact that someone hit his kunai out of his hand, the kid looked up at Tenjin as Tenjin quickly chopped at the kids neck, with a force not hard enough to cause serious damage but instead enough to knock the kid out. Right there and then, Tenjin saw as the student began to run in seperate direction. The chase was on. Nevertheless, keeping these children safe is also a priority of Tenjin since they are afterall, Iwagakure citizens, so the academy student that was knocked out was picked up and placed right under a large tree. Picking up his senbons again, Tenjin would run after his remaning two targets, hoping that his partner was a;lright and also progressing with the mission objective.

Tenjin explained briefly what Academy Students were about, and though Laïs nodded, she had not much of a clue what he had actually meant. Specialisation, element? She could imagine something about their meaning, but not really visualise it. What else than unarmed combat, weapon combat, healing and sage arts were there? Likewise, these 'techniques' seemed apparent to him, but aside from clones, Laïs was unsure what exactly he was talking about. However, she didn't feel like asking more questions. He was a kid, and so she couldn't fault him for not being that great the teacher as he looked barely older than the kids they were about to take down.

However, what he seemed to lack in teacher's talent, he made up in his actions. After his explanation and declaration of approach, which ran more or less in line with her own thoughts, he retrieved five senbon and threw them at the kids to disarm them. Laïs found it a curious approach, since failing to disarm the student would inevitably wound the student, but the young shinobi seemed confident enough in his abilities to take the risk nonetheless. At that point, the startled kids were an easy target. Ceasing the opportunity, Tenjin dropped down and dash to one of the kids in the back, and Laïs didn't dawdle either. She ran up to one of the kids in the front, who seemed equally surprised to see a young woman join into the action - a sensei? - and as he hesitated in how to deal with this, Laïs swept his legs from under him. He fell to the ground, and as he tried to crawled back up, was met with her 'Devil's Horn' strike, a simple but efficient hit to knock someone out cold without lasting damage.

With two of them out, the others kids suddenly collected their composure and dashed away to every other direction. Knowing the two of them could not follow them all at once, the crow sage instead opted to focus on her senjutsu senses so as to imprint their faint chakra signatures. With this done, she would at least be able to recognise them even if they were disguised or hiding as few techniques were able to fool a sage's senses. Looking back at Tenjin, she noticed he was occupied binding one of the kids to the tree and thus dragged her own target over to the tree to have him bound with his caught companion.

With that out of the way, Laïs would transform into her black bird form, thinking to herself that taking the higher ground was a much better option to track down running kids than chasing them through the streets. She had only one more brat to catch, and assumed she'd be done sooner with this than Tenjin, who would have to deal with two kids running away. Just before he dashed away to carry out his part of the mission, she told him, "I'll come find you once I caught mine. My senses allow me to recognise chakra signatures". So as the two of them left their own way, Laïs soared the skies in search of her new target.

It didn't take her too long since, despite his young training, the kid was not exactly being subtle about his position. Running through the streets in an otherwise slow moving crowd, jumping over obstacles and regularly looking back to see if he had shaken off his pursuers, he eventually decided that jumping on the roofs and continuing his escape through higher ground was a much better option. Unfortunately for him, that only made it easier for Laïs. Three streets further, he seemed to realise his mistake as the looming shadow of a giant black bird rapidly increased in size under his feet. Then, quickly looking up as what was happening exactly, the black feathers of the bird turned into the grasping arms of the woman, grabbing him tightly as she threw him to the floor in her momentum of flight. As they fell, she shifted her weight in the last minute so that the kid would not end up too ruffled from the bird's rough landing. As both stood up and he tried to escape nonetheless, she grabbed him by the collar.

"Not so fast, boy. You'll gently come with me now, or I'll be dragging your body over my shoulder."

After another futile attempt, he eventually understood he didn't have the might, size or technique to escape the woman in front of her and sulkily walked back with her to the tree where his friends would be attached. Still knocked out cold, she tied him up with the two others and then dusted off her clothes. Aside from a few scratches, they were otherwise fine. The trouble now was to find back Tenjin so she could assist him.

Tenjin dashed through the grounds, but not before seeing his ally turn into a giant bird. This was amazing considering that Tenjin has never seen a tehnique like this before, but then again, this is why he came to the Chunin exam, to see the different types of shinobi around the world. While hunting his two academy brats, Tenjin was tracking them which was something routine to him, if he didn’t do it then the entire day would be off, because Tenjin wants to be ANBU which for all intents and purposes are hunter ninjas. But anyhow, once done running, Tenjin began to walk as he thought he was getting closer due to the footprints becoming more faint as if the kids stopped running and thus pushing down on the ground. As he walked through a small Kumo forest he had seen one of the academy students. The brat then started to vanish into the forest leaving behind a faint wind and a blur of speed. ‘This kid is fast’ Tenjin thought. Sometimes Tenjin wondered how your molecules reacted to such bursts of speed and then he noticed the kid getting further as wild birds flew overhead once the youth passed their habitat.

Upon figuring this out he dashed through the rocky forest. “How can this kid be fast enough to just then disappear like that. Not because he was moving faster that Tenjin, but instead because he was moving faster than the slowest genin, but whatever made him move at the speed he did, it must be some clan and specialty combinational speed boost.” Tenjin said as he tried to analyze more details befitting of the situation he had just witnessed. Of course Tenjin was faster, but he wanted to see how his body was able to move as fast as it did, it may have been due to the instinctual inheritance the kid had that was unique to him and his clan. He did not dismiss this because he knew it was possible. While running, Tenjin was calmly inhaling air and then exhaling it. This cycle began over and over until he made the ram hand sign and released his chakra as aura around his feet, he then sucked it back in as he did air through his nostrils. When this occurred it felt as though Tenjin was a bottle and the chakra was some rampant energy he was containing. After noticing this feeling Tenjin decided to move through the trail and see how fast it would take him to catch up to the young student. Tenjin took off, his first steps leaving a footprint in the solid ground and the wind inverted it’s movement as Tenjin moved passed it as if he was some sort of knife slicing through the air. He was paying attention to the footprints made by the academy student and when he got to the end of the prints, he noticed that the prints appeared to just suddenly stop. The body flicker jutsu was very taxing for the body because Tenjin was very winded when he caught up, which must be why this jutsu is advised to only utilize when escaping combat and not during. “Where could this kid be?” Tenjin said scratching his head. “He has some incredible speed, most definitely something to be feared in a battle when he ages and becomes of rank, this special ability may mean that this kid was the leader of the gang.” Tenjin said realizing the calf muscle in his leg was twitching. “If he were to master his speed he would become a force to be reckoned with, even against those who are completely faster than him now, like me.” Tenjin was definitely giving this kid well deserved credit, exactly where credit was due. “If I were him, where would I go?” He said walking back as he could not run right away in fear of the pain of a cramp.

On his way back he had seen a blur past in the bushes, this immediately put Tenjin on alert and he readied himself for anything. Tenjin has been training to be a sensory type and although unable to sense shinobi, an academy student is different as he felt the chakra signature of something small, but it contained a fair amount of chakra repeatedly expelling it and retracting back into it’s body as it circles the bushes around Tenjin. Tenjin decided to use his own top speed suspecting that the kid worn out already, he waited to make sure the kid would continue the same path in a circle and when he confirmed this he pounced on the kid he had seen before, dashing through the rocky forest, grabbing him by the legs. “Ha, I caught you.” Tenjin said, while the kid screamed out “Nooo!” in a shocked manner. He put the kid down and began to walk away, with the kid basically handcuffed by Tenjin hands. The kid just kept attempting to show its speed as he was trying to escape by dashing off, but Tenjin was too strong. “If I wouldn’t of been running around you, you would have never caught me.” The kid said with a smug face, “Are you challenging me?” He asked the young academy student out of curiosity. The kid gave Tenjin a face that can best be explained with the phrase, “oh please.” Tenjin then let go of the kid as he stood there and jumped in the air repeatedly to apparently warm up.

Tenjin accepted this challenge, but first said, “If I beat you, you have to promise to not cause any more problems in the village. You have a lot of potential kid, and I would hate to see it wasted in a jail cell.” Tenjin and the kid then lined up as the kid said, “You got it.” The objective seemed to be if Tenjin could catch the kid at full speed. Then all of the sudden the kid dashed off into the rocky forest once again, Tenjin caught off guard was then trailing behind the young academy student as it changed direction in what seemed to be a quick jerky manner propelled by the tip of his toes. As he and this creature sped through the forest and toward where the gang was first ambushed, both of them dodging trees, they have some sort of dance of speed. Rushing the foliage and tall rocks, boulder and such they traveled a great distance in little time. Tenjin was pretty close to getting the kid until he jumped and realized he missed, before he hit the ground he put his hand on the ground to keep his momentum rolling. The kid appeared to have had a bad habit of taunting, since when he thought he had won with Tenjin missing catching him, he stood there and waited for Tenjin to speed up before he continued running. This would prove to be his downfall because he did not expect Tenjin to keep his speed the way he did. This is when Tenjin took his chance and grabbed the kid by the leg in an instant right before it took off. The young academy student acknowledged defeat and praised Tenjin for winning, but to Tenjin, all he cares about is for the gang to stop their troublesome behaviors. Tenjin and the kid walked back and reached the tree that Tenjin put the first academy student under. Tenjin saw that his partner was doing well since she caught her two and put them under the tree as well. Tenjin then said, “Alright, stay here and when your friends wake up just tell them about the deal we had.” When Tenjin ran off, he noticed his partner also looking for the last bandit. “Hey, any luck as to knowing where the last kid went? I think I caught their leader, he’s back there with the rest. Our mission is completed for all intents and purposes since he promised to end the troubles the gangs were causing.” Tenjin then asked, "are you a sensory type? if so, maybe you could find the last youth and I will follow."

While Tenjin was on his own business, Laïs kept an eye out on the three kids caught kids. One of them had regained consciousness, somewhat confused as to why he was attached with two of his buddies. Pouting about, they refused to give him an answer when he asked what happened, and as he didn't recognise Laïs (since Tenjin had been the one dealing with him), he was at a completely loss. The young woman remained silent until the realisation of his failure to escape became apparent.

"Sorry boy. Your mischief attracted the attention of the shinobi, and you got caught."

The words didn't seem to do him much good, as his confusion now turned into a sulky pout. The young woman sighed, rather disappointed at the lack of spunk he showed her, remembering her own feisty defiance when she got caught the first time all too well. Well, there were kids of all sorts, and not all of them had the ferocity of the Jugo blood running through their veins.

"Why would you guys cause such mischief when you can't avoid getting caught anyway?"

Not that she had been any better. She knew well enough such behaviour was more driven by passion and decided on a whim rather than a well-thought out plan for the future. As a kid, she had been nothing different. If anything, she had been far worse as she had always been following her instinct, even now. And that instinct told her these boys were just going through some moment of bratty hubris, believing they could take on the world as a 'shinobi' rather than them being truly dark of heart enough to plunge the world in chaos.

"I get it though. You got training, you know tricks. You're great guys, right? Trying to be someone, impress the girls by showing what a tough guy you are. I like that. Just don't do anything you'll regret later, hm?"

Eyes shying away, it seemed she had hit the spot and as such her words didn't seem to miss their effect. It looked like the gang didn't fail to understand they were walking the dangerous path between being tough and being a menace to society, but one could only be certain of that understanding when they'd monitor their future actions. Without an adult pressuring them, kids could easily fall back into their former better-liked attitudes.

Not long after that, Tenjin returned with his second catch, telling the kid to tell his friends about the deal they struck. While the new kid, who seemed to be the leader of this little brigand gang, explained the deal to his friends, Tenjin asked her if she was a sensory 'type'. Raising an eyebrow at that, she wasn't quite sure where the 'type' came from, but considering the context could at least relate the sensory part to her previous remark of her being able to sense chakra signatures.

"Give me a second."

Closing her eyes, she focused on her senjutsu sensory and allowed it to roll out once more. The nature chakra saturating the area slowly revealed the area around her. Indistinct auras at first, movement and bigger entities such as tree and buildings came into range, then smaller things such as plants and house pets appeared and finally the chakra signatures began to take a clear form within her senses. At that point, she realised that the last guy wasn't far off. In fact, he was hiding rather nearby.

Opening her eyes, she turned to look at the corner of the street where the boy was hiding out of sight and possibly making use of a technique to conceal his identity. Laïs believed to know what he had hoped to achieve. A cunning thought that she wouldn't have thought about as quickly considering she had always been on her own to pull her disastrous pranks.

"He's behind that street corner there. I believe he was waiting for us to leave so he could free his friends."

Laïs would then look at Tenjin to gauge his reaction and see what his expectations were. Would he go get the kid, or was she to get him?

Tenjin thanked his teammate for the data received, and was able to dash out toward the final misfit. The kid was caught off guard as Tenjin appeared right behind him and rather than knock his out, Tenjin was able to just grab his arms and confined the young academy student to limited movements. When Tenjin brought the young academy student back, a small lecture was provided in order to prevent the kids from attempting such maladaptive behaviors once more, and while at it, Tenjin turned to Lais, and asked, “Are you going to the Chunin Exam? You dont have to participate, I know I’m not but am still going to Kumogakure. So if you are, I believe we should meet in Kumogakure. I also understand that you didnt know much about academy student?” This was of course a rhetorical question in regards to Lais asking about what to expect with their capabilities. “If you dont know much about shinobis, I have subbed for the academy enough to know what is needed to be learned to be considered basic knowledge of the shinobi. Maybe I could teach you.” Tenjin then smiled at Lais and body flickered out before she was able to provide an answer, hoping that she will be going to Kumogakure, and that the pair will meet there.

The kid behind the corner was caught faster than she had expected. When Tenjin returned with the last kid, he asked her about the Chuunin exams and if she was about to travel to Kumogakure. She was not quite certain she knew much about those 'chuunin exams', but the titled of the game seemed to indicate a relation to shinobi ranks and so she guessed she, as an outsider, would not be part of these Exams. As for where Kumogakure was, she couldn't say, but that was easily remedied at least. However, before she had the opportunity to answer him, the boy had vanished from sight, leaving her by herself in the streets.
