Kuno

Kuno

D-rank
Mission Description:

There was always more adventure to be had out in the deserts of the Land of Wind. This was something that Kuno Uchiha was learning very quickly thanks to the checkpoint that he had helped to set up a few days earlier. He had received a notice from the administration building that the checkpoint had sent a missive into the city saying that some of their forward scouts had discovered the remnants of some kind of ancient ruins. Upon hearing this news, the administration of the Village Hidden in the Sands decided to send Kuno to investigate them due to him being so close to the situation.

He began the journey out to the city, mapping supplies in his pack and his miao dao attached to his hip. He was exited about this mission, like he was for any and all missions involving exploration. Kuno and the more adventurous side of his personality always took over when there was a chance to discover new things and learn more about the world around him; as long as it did not involve reading. The prospect of sitting and reading was one of the few things that left the young Uchiha almost disgusted; it was nothing more than a boring waste of time in his mind. The best way to learn was through experience, and that is exactly what was going to happen on this next mission that he had been given. It was his job to map out the land on the way to these supposed ruins, as well as take a rough description down of the ruins themselves.

After a brief stop in the checkpoint that he had help to set up, he resupplied and started his trek out into the part of the Endless Dunes known as the Sand’s Domain. This part of the desert was known for its dangerous weather. Sand tornados and dust storms were commonplace in this section of the desert, making it an unpopular travel destination for any members of the village having caused the death of many ninja that have travelled through there unprepared. With this in mind, Kuno Uchiha had made sure to bring a great deal of water and supplies for sleeping safely in case he ended up lost. However, despite the great amount of danger Kuno was not afraid. He was too excited to be afraid.

Having set out, the Land of Wind’s sun blistering down from above, Kuno smiled as he began to write down notes detailing every step of his trip. The rumours of these ruins had abounded for the past few years, but due to the danger of scouting out this far, there were little to no details about the area which made Kuno’s mission all the more important. The administration of Suna hoped to be able to use these ruins as a defendable position in case of any sort of attack, as well as just an advantageous amount of knowledge in a tactical sense. He had only been walking for a couple of hours when he looke dup to notice that the sun was being blotted out in the distance. Squinting to see what was causing such a phenomenon, he could just barely make out the shape of what seemed to be a large brown cloud.

His eyes then widened as he realized what was coming. He looked around frantically as he tried to find some sort of cover, but could not find any in his state of panic. Mere moments later the young shinobi was swept up in a sandstorm of immense size. He pulled his hood and jacket up over his face and mouth to protect himself slightly, but the storm was too much for him. Pretty soon, Kuno Uchiha was wandering around in the storm, blind any anything and everything. He continued on like this for some time, cursing his inability to master anything more than basic fuuton techniques as they would be extremely helpful in a time like this. He was able to use some low level ninjutsu to allow himself to breathe a few times, but it was an exhausting process and Kuno was beginning to fear that it was over for him.

Having completely lost his sense of direction, he found his mind wandering to his friends and family. He was not very close with many of the other ninja in the village, but he had hoped to be able to grow with them instatus and power. Now he may never get that chance. As far as his mother and sister went, he worried that he would not be with them to protect them against any and all dangers. The vow he had made to himself was a big one, but he still believed he could do it, at least until this moment. Finally, his mind drifted to his father; the man hat had driven the rest of his family into exile because of his own prejudice. Kuno tried so desperately to hate him in this moment, to tell himself that if it were not for him, then the young Uchiha would not be in this position. But despite all of that, Kuno could not help but feel the small twinge of love that he still held in his heart for the man. He had been Kuno’s hero once, and once that feeling blossoms, it is hard to make it die.

These thoughts and more ran through his had as he walked on, trying desperately to find some semblance of cover. Suddenly, as if the gods had led Kuno to this very spot, he tripped over the edge of something hard, feeling it crumble until his foot as he fell face first into the sand. Shuffling over to where the object had been, he was able to find some sort of stone to use as shelter from the elements, and once his face was out of the storm, he was able to drink some of his water before dozing off, hoping to all hopes that he would survive the exhaustion that was now taking him.

Kuno’s eyes fluttered open as moonlight danced across his face. He hesitated to open them, fearing that he would be blinded by the storm until he realized that the storm was over. Blinking all of the sand out of his eyes, the young Uchiha stood up hastily, trying to get his bearings. Whirling around and taking in his surroundings, he could not believe what he saw.  In all of his blind stumbling, Kuno had managed to wander right into the ruins that he was trying to find in the first place. Pulling out his notes, he began to detail everything he saw around him: crumbling buildings, faded architecture, buried objects that could not be identified, all this and more was sitting in the sand around him. Smiling and drawing a brief sketch of his surroundings , Kuno shook his head. I guess not all of my luck can be bad after all.
