Mission Details:
After receiving his special task from the Kazekage, Midori Ningyou, Kuno Uchiha had become nearly obsessed with the gang that he had discovered and the role that the Kage had entrusted him with. This vigor had led to many sleepless nights filled with investigation and interrogation, though his nights out had yielded very little so far. Feeling discouraged, Kuno had decided to take the day off, wandering the village and perhaps returning to the Oasis Springs that he had visited the previous week with another young Genin of the village. However, it seemed that fate had different plans for Kuno that day. As he threw on his jacket and stepped toward he door to his home, he was surprised by a knock on his door. Opening it, he was greeted with the face of a superior shinobi holding a scroll in his hand. “This mission comes from the Kazekage herself, please complete it as soon as possible.” He handed the scroll to Kuno, and before the young Uchiha had a chance to respond, jumped off onto a nearby rooftop and headed in another direction. Sighing and shaking his head, Kuno opened the scroll and took in it’s contents.

His brow furrowed as he went over the details of the mission. Someone had kidnapped two children from their homes in the Village during the night. He was seen fleeing the city and heading south out into the Wind Country. There had been no ransom demand, so the parents of these children were understandably concerned for their well-being. He was to report to the administration building to meet with his assigned partner, and from there was to locate, rescue, and return the children home. There were a few more details, including the fact that there had been a report from the regular patrols of the secret reservoir of the village that a mysterious figure and some noises had been heard coming from the abandoned factory there since the night before, which would be the optimal place to start the investigation.

Kuno nodded to himself as he rolled up the scroll and tucked it into his jacket before running back upstairs and grabbing his miao dao, strapping it into his hip. As he made his way to the administration building, he could not help but think of the importance that this mission held. They had already lost a few hours since the time they disappeared, which meant it would end up being even more difficult to find them with each passing minute. He had heard of cases like this where the children would never be seen from again; he desperately hoped this would not be a repeat of any of those.

Finally, he arrived at the administration building and slowly made his way up the steps to the interior. Once inside, he proceeded to the disclosed location on the mission briefing ad waited for someone to call his name or walk up to join him. He did not know who to expect, but whoever it was, he hoped that they would be capable, and willing to work all night if that is what was needed.

It had taken quite a while for Lynn to gather up his muse, but he was finally beginning to feel confident for once. What with meeting a new friend, Kuno, a lively talk with a certain creature, and meeting his squad (though he didn't feel too much for them right now), things were looking up for him now. What better way to try and go out, to get his own missions? It'd probably be a great opportunity to get some recognition of the village, and get some pocket change. With that being said, what he did not expect was some random superior of his to be at his door when he walked out, just about to get his day started.

"You've been entrusted with a mission directly from the Kazekage. Read the details, and meet at the administration building with your partner to start the mission immediately." ...Well, guess he doesn't have to go do that himself now. But what could be so important that the Kazekage herself would want him, a little Genin, to do it? With a person he probably didn't know, no less? Whatever, he might as well do it, it'll be good experience, and hopefully it's for a good cause.

When he rolled the scroll to expose its neat, braille bumps, he was surprised at what he learned. A kidnapping had happened the prior night, over two kids, and the captor was allegedly heading south into the Wind Country, to escape any unwanted attention. Now, he had seen some appalling things in his life, but this was probably in his top five. Well, that's the life of a dedicated Shinobi, to protect others and such, right? At least he had a lead, that he could discuss with his partner once he got there; ear-witness accounts around some abandoned factory, our in the area he was fleeing, having strange noises within. That'll come in handy, and it'll help him plan a few strategies.

Now he was taking his last steps on his current destination, into building which he'd meet his partner in. The documents said they'd be in a particular seat, so it'd be fairly easy to find them, which is good. At least, it would be, if he could actually see the damn thing. Luckily, they also said it had a unique texture, compared to the other seats, since it was used for getting shinobi ready for missions anyway. So, with that in mind, he'd blink his cloudy green eyes, feeling around all over the place till he felt the texture spoken of; a bit of a rough, yet soft wood. Unfortunately, his other hand laid upon the familiar skin of someone he met before. The smell was the same too, and the...oh god, that's Kuno. He'd immediately blush a crimson red, and recoil just slightly, putting his hands behind his back with quite the embarassed expression.

"O-oh crap! Um, sorry, Kuno...I...I guess we're mission partners...a Kidnapping, if I'm not mistaken. I already planned out a few strategies, if you want to hear..."

Kuno sat alone, becoming fidgety pretty quickly due to the nature of the mission that he had received.  His eyes were closed as he leaned back in his chair, running countless scenarios through his mind; all of them were awful. He was about to stand up to go off and start on hi sown when a hand fell on his. His eyes shot open in surprise and he turned while the hand that had touched his retreated immediately. His confusion subsided quickly once he saw the familiar face to which the now hidden hand belonged. He could not help but smirk at the green haired shinobi blushing before him. "O-oh crap! Um, sorry, Kuno...I...I guess we're mission partners...a Kidnapping, if I'm not mistaken. I already planned out a few strategies, if you want to hear..." Kuno stood up without hesitation and placed his hand on Lynn’s shoulder. “Don’t worry about it Lynn. It’s good to see you again! I hope everything’s been going well for you this past little while.” He removed his hand and nodded to himself, acknowledging Lynn’s offer for strategies before continuing. “I think the strategies will be useful for sure, but you should tell them to me on the way to the reservoir. We got a report that said last night strange figures were seen moving through the abandoned factory over there. I’d bet all my ryo that’s where our kidnapper is holding up for whatever reason. Let’s get moving.”

With that, Kuno guided Lynn back out of the administration building and toward the village gate, making sure not to get too far ahead of his friend so that he could keep tracking him, despite his blindness. While on the way Kuno turned back to Lynn, “So I saw your name on the squad roster when I went to get my assignment. Too bad we didn’t end up together huh?” He chuckled at that, genuinely wishing that he could have been teamed up with his fellow Uchiha. He would let Lynn fill the silence after that, listening to whatever he had to say as they made their way toward where the secret reservoir was hidden from the public eye. After a little over two hours of travelling, the two Uchiha had arrived at the perimeter of the area.

It was fairly empty out here, the only constructions and landmarks of note were the reservoir itself a large pool that was filled with an emergency supply of whater for the Village Hidden in the Sands, and a large, abandoned factory. It stood six stories high and had very few entrances. Some of them were caved in from years of disrepair, others were just holes in the wall of the dilapidated structure. Kuno paused as they got within 200 metres of the building before stopping and turning to his friend. “Well Lynn, looks like this is the place where the figures were spotted moving into last night. Since you can’t see it I’ll give you a brief description. We’ve got six floors to deal with. Our only viable entrances are the first floor front doors, where we will probably meet resistance if this kidnapper has backup, and we have a large hole in the third floor wall. We could sneak around back and use the Supernatural Walking Practice to get up there no problem, but I don’t know how close that hole is to wherever the children are being kept.” He paused, looking over the building once again for any signs of a guard presence. Seeing non, he continued. “It doesn’t look like they’re guarding the outside, but I would be prepared for a fight if I were you. So what do you think? Let’s hear those great strategies!” He concluded, with a wink that Lynn could not see.

It was a relief to Lynn that his latest friend had not gotten mad at him for touching hands with them, as instead of yelling or getting just as shy as he was, the older Uchiha placed his hand on Lynn's shoulder, reassuring the moment wasn't super awkward. Such a shame he couldn't blush even more at that smirk of his. Either way, Kuno made a good point in that he should simply talk about his plans on the way, considering they didn't have much time, and quickly followed behind his ally.

On the way, when Kuno commented on the fact they had not been pawned into the same squad, it did make Lynn feel a little down, but it wasn't as bad as he at least thought it would be. It would have been fun to be two Uchiha, together in a squad, but that's always up to fate. He didn't have a choice. "Well, it could have been an interesting time being in your squad, but maybe it's for the best. We can just be around each other all the time...as much as I kinda want to.
Besides...I did what you told me to from last time, and...they don't seem as bad as I was thinking they would be. So it's all good in the end."

Once they had made it to the mission location, Lynn would be briefed on the area they had to deal with. A six-story building, with only two entrance points (and in extent, exit points); the obvious first floor entrance, and the stealthier third floor hole in the wall. However, both made Lynn uneasy. If their enemy actually knew what they were doing, they could end up flanking them no matter where they entered. So, he could only think of two options.

"Hmm...that really is a pickle, isn't it? Well, I think I know what we need to do. I can give you two strategies, one of complexity, and one of simplicity. I'm going to get ready for the first,
but that preparation can still be used for the second."
He'd grab Kuno's hand gently, before throwing his kunai in the air, expecting his friend to catch it as he'd then transform into one himself, resting in their left hand. He would still talk while in this form to at least give him the info, obviously. "For the complicated plan, what you'll want to do is open that door, and as fast as you can, throw me and the kunai I just gave you to your left and right. That'll get me in farther to take someone out, and distract the other while you run in, since if this criminal knows what he's doing, he has goons. Of course, if he doesn't, then he'll at least be distracted by either of them. The simpler plan is to lure them out, from both entrance points; throw me up to the third floor, where I'll draw them out from there, and you use an academy clone from a nice distance to draw them out of the first floor. It's your choice on what to do, so I'm counting on you to make a judgement call here."

Kuno waited for the response from Lynn, and reacted by instinct as he threw a kunai into the air and transformed into one himself. Holding Lynn in his left hand and snatching the regular kunai in his right, he listened to his plan.

Kuno nodded slowly, mulling over the two options. The direct approach would have been easier for sure, but Kuno was worried about the well being of the children inside and figured that if they announced their presence, it would probably mean that the kids would be killed. So instead, he opted for the first plan. “I’ll open the door and toss you in. The second you make contact with something, make sure you transform back into your normal form and get ready to fight. There’s no way of knowing what will be in there.” With that, he pulled his hood up over his head and made his way stealthily to the door. He pressed his ear against the door before opening it, listening for anything that would set him off to danger. His caution was rewarded by the sound of four voices, talking to one another calmly. Kuno could not hear what they were saying, but he assumed the worst, bringing the two weapons up to prepare to throw them. The young Uchiha closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then smashed the door in.

The four men were taken by surprise, and Kuno used this opportunity to throw the two kunai in different directions. He sent one into the shoulder of one man, and the other, which was Lynn, onto the ground behind the two at the opposite end of the room. Trusting that Lynn could take care of himself, Kuno did not hesitate, drawing his Miao Dao before the men could get a single word out, and ending the life of the one wounded by the kunai by stabbing him through the throat. The other assailant on his side of the room was slightly faster, and was able to draw a katana before Kuno could dispatch him. Their swords clashed for but a moment before Kuno was able to get the upper hand. Blocking a blow by directing the blade to the ground to his right, Kuno dealt a swift chop to his neck with his free hand, sending him staggering backwards. With his defences open it was easy for the young Uchiha to drive his blade through the stomach of the target, incapacitating him if not outright killing him.

Kuno then glanced over at Lynn, and unless he was in big trouble, he would turn and run up a nearby flight of stairs to try to find the children and the actual kidnapper. As he arrived on the second floor, he was greeted by a sight that he was both happy, and worried to see. The kidnapper was there, that much was certain. He was standing in the center of the room, dropped into a fighting stance and ready to defend himself. The children, Kuno could see, were laying unconscious on the ground behind him. The young Uchiha gritted his teeth and he looked at the kidnapper, for there was one feature that stood out over everything else; his eyes. They did not have pupils, and veins around them could be seen popping out of his face. The man in from of him was using the byakugan. Calling out to Lynn, Kuno yelled. “Lynn, get the kids out of harms way, then help me out. Gotta make sure this criminal is given the justice he deserves.” The laughed angrily, “I’d like to see you try to stop me. I saw you coming form mile away. There’s no way you can hope to get those kids back.”

Not one to waste words, Kuno pointed his sword forward and grimaced; the real fight was about to begin.

Thankfully, Lynn was not caught off guard once his plan was set into motion. It worked perfectly, distracting two on one side of the room for Kuno to pick off, while the others were left for him to take care of. And boy, he was itching for some action, admittedly. Once he had landed on the ground, his disguise would disperse, allowing him to blitz one of the men from behind to do a sweeping kick, knocking him off his feet and hitting the ground pretty hard, causing a loss of breath to the unfortunate thug before him. Of course, having no mercy for such scum, he'd then slam the heel of his boot into the man's face, crushing it and causing the stone below to cave in just slightly. This was enough to knock him out, so now it was onto the next person.

This man was a little more difficult to deal with, since he hadn't had the element of surprise to use this time, but it was obvious this person was untrained. Their stance was shaky, as well as sloppy, obvious to Lynn when their clash began. Of course, they had a knife, and Lynn didn't, but being adept with Bukijutsu made it easy for him to disarm the man, and redirect a stab they would take into his chest. However, this was not the end, as with what seemed impossible to the green haired boy, he wasn't completely dead, and managed to grab Lynn by the neck. This angered him, alongside annoyed his throat, as he'd gag a bit. But, to reply in full, he'd retalliate with a kick to the privates, causing the man to dramatically fall down in pain, to where Lynn would then drive the knife stuck in the man deeper to ensure the kill. After this, it would leave the young Uchiha to wipe the dust off his clothes and get back to the matter at hand, but not before running over to his kunai stuck in one of the men's bodies and recovering it for later use.

Following behind Kuno to the next floor, he'd feel the last person in their way, the kidnapper himself, in the middle of the room, apparently already prepared to fight them to the death. He was about to get his weapon ready, but then his partner ordered he'd do something much more useful. “Lynn, get the kids out of harms way, then help me out. Gotta make sure this criminal is given the justice he deserves.” Yeah, admittedly this was a much better plan than helping his friend immediately. But, to give him a head start, and to also just get to the kids safely, he'd form the Rabbit hand sign, in a way the Byakugan user would definitely see it happening, two clones appearing beside him. They'd all run in a zigzag pattern, to throw the man off, Lynn himself hoping he'd blitz the clones and miss him entirely. If this happened, he'd most certainly grab the kids with one quick swoop, then rush towards a nearby window, jumping out of it with them in tow. The safest place was out the building itself, after all.

Kuno watched as his Uchiha companion made a bee line to the kids that were on the far side of the room. Much to his surprise, he watched as the kidnapper began to make a blitz attack at the thin air, and then looked extremely confused afterward. Genjutsu! Nice work Lynn! With that, Kuno watched as Lynn grabbed the kids without issue and took them out of a nearby window to safety. Kuno grinned, baring his teeth. Now was his chance.

Music:

He rushed the already off balance man, sliding onto the ground to try to catch him off guard. It almost worked, except that the criminal was able to regain his senses just before Kuno struck and deflected the young Uchiha’s miao dao to one side while slamming his palm into Kuno’s chest. The blow forced him onto his back, but before the thug could land a follow up strike, Kuno managed to roll to the side and spring back onto his feet. Not wanting to give the criminal a chance to step up, he quickly produced a Great Fireball Jutsu, sending it careening toward his opponent without much room for him to evade. At the last second, Kuno was able to see the man release a wind technique that seemed to block his fireball, but still pressing the offensive, Kuno threw his sword using his Blade Boomerang technique and jumped into the air, following up with his three shuriken. The man dodged backward, taking one of the stars in his shoulder, as Kuno’s blade returned to him in time for his follow up attacks. Unleashing a torrent of strikes, Kuno slowly forced the man back toward the window before finally smirking. “Got you.”

With that, the young Uchiha planted his foot firmly into the chest of his opponent, kicking him and sending him flying backwards into the open air. He stood in the open part of the wall, watching on as his target screamed and fell. Once he heard the satisfying thud of the man hitting the ground, Kuno proceeded to jump out of the window, driving his sword through the man’s knee as he landed. He was still alive, but barely. Pulling the sword out aggressively, Kuno stalked around his victim having subdued him. He had question that needed answering. “Look’s like you’re beaten friend. So before I drag you off to prison, I gotta ask; was it worth it?” The man shuddered in pain and stared up at the sun above him. Kuno could tell he was about to pass out, but before he did, he let out one last sentence. “As long as their bastard father suffered through then, then it was all worth it.”

Kuno squinted at that, feeling the hatred drip off of the man’s words as he uttered them. It was a hatred that seemed too familiar, and one he was uncomfortable to witness for a second time in his life. Shaking his head, he picked up the now unconscious man and called out to Lynn. “You get those kids home, I’ll take this one in, and we’ll meet at the administration building for payment. Thanks for the help today, we should work together again.” He then smiled, waved, and used the Body Flicker Technique to leave, heading back home as fast as he could.

After getting the children to safety, it was about time he made it back to his ally. He could hear the grunts and groans of Kuno and the kidnapper dueling it out, and he didn't want to miss any important events within it; it could mean life and death for the both of him. So, initiating Supernatural Walking Practice, he'd quickly run up the side of the walls, eventually making it back to the window that he jumped out of in the first place.

However, it seemed he wasn't going to be needed at all in this fight to the death. Not too much to his surprise, he'd find that his friend was actually doing well for himself; at least, that' what he thought, considering he wasn't crying out in pain or agony. The Hyuga was not doing that well at all, and at some point he could have sworn he heard the Great Fireball Jutsu just pummel him against a door. Soon enough, Kuno had him pinned by the blade with a knee stab, and would ask the criminal what his final words were before they took him in. “As long as their bastard father suffered through then, then it was all worth it.” ...Damn, that stung.

After that, he'd hear Kuno give out an order. “You get those kids home, I’ll take this one in, and we’ll meet at the administration building for payment. Thanks for the help today, we should work together again.” Kuno then smiled, waved, and used the Body Flicker Technique to leave, heading back home as fast as he could. ...Well, guess it's time for his long trek back. Maybe he should have tried harder to learn Ninjutsu...it'd make it much easier to get home as fast as Kuno was now. It didn't matter though, since the children were not in critical condition, and didn't need immediate medical attention. With that, he just gave out an irritated sigh, and jumped back out, grabbing the children and running them back to their homes to end the night.
