Kisei

Kisei

B-rank
Mission Details:

A giant scorpion, great, just great. What an amazing way to start the afternoon. Why couldn’t he just teach at the academy for the afternoon? Or something more…. Nah, that’s just it. ‘More’. Not to say that he wasn’t grateful for a mission. But a scorpion? From what he learned about them they weren’t any kind of menace, at least if you could crush it before it stung you. Basically a pushover. Until you were in the hospital. But you’d be fine.

The one he was fighting was nothing like that. This one, like it’s normal counterpart, had made it’s way to the the suburbans, and like it’s smaller cousins it had to be put down. If not by a metal pan then by the supreme technology of the ‘Ushinatta’.

It was a low afternoon, cool by the occasional breeze and good cloud cover uncommon of the desert. The combatants stood staring at the other. Fear and anxious anticipation holding both in place. The massive monster stood crouching outside a small cluster of houses. It’s eyes fixed on Kisei.

After a minute of silence, it was the human who broke. With one swift movement, Kisei swing his umbrella in an arc, releasing a furious blue orb flying straight for the giant emperor scorpion. Almost instinctually it blocked with it’s right pincer. When the orb and scorpion collided a decent smoke screen covered the point of injury. When the cover cleared a noticeable black mark scarred the tough skin, but other than that the creature was relatively unharmed. A terrible feeling settled in the pit of his stomach.

Although Kisei had a team he could rely on for support on missions such as these, he had decided to take this mission alone. Feeling that he could pull off a simple mission like this on his own. Though, now looking at how this creature was already half his size and wasn’t fried by his weapon, he was starting to understand how screwed he was.  “Oh dear…”

[Battle…. START!!!]

Enraged by Kisei’s firework display the scorpion charged, closing the distance between them in moments. A strange insectual growl leading it’s assualt. The tapping of it’s legs were both very disgusting, and terrorfying. It slid to a stop, launching it’s stinger with a whoosh straight to Kisei. Slowed with surprise he could only take the attack head on.. The clansman shifted his weapon and with a flourish slammed the scorpion’s attack to the ground beside him. The appendage quickly retracted only to be replaced by a pincer attack to his right. Kisei spun with the attack, barely evading the creature. He needed to put some distance between him and this abomination.

Kisei felt a familiar flow of chakra leaving his body and pushing him away from the monster. What he wasn’t counting on was it following him. At least he was drawing it away from the houses, but unfortunately he was moving closer toward the desert, the scorpion’s home territory. Honestly he couldn’t catch a break. When it struck with it’s pincer again he block again with his umbrella. This time opening it to it’s full width, a hue of green shimmering above the surface. When the two collided once more an explosion of wind burst forth between the attacks. Unlike last time it was the scorpion that suffered the recoil this time. It’s entire body shuddered and creaked after being repelled by Kisei’s Gale shield. An opening. He closed it with a snap and twirled in his hand. He flicked the bladed umbrella and swiped it to the right. A small burst of wind was spurred into existence, twisting and churning. This time it seemed to have an effect.

“SCREE!” It screeched as lacerations appeared on the entire front of it’s body. He kept it up, adding one, two, more of those rending winds. His arm on it’s last swing was interrupted by a violent thrust of blunt pincers. The force of the impact knocking him to the ground. With his sword awkwardly pointing toward the scorpion.

With his adversary helplessly sprawled on the ground the scorpion posed for the killing strike. Tensing and shifting it’s weight behind it. Their stinger shot forth. Instinctively Kisei raised his arm to block his face. The blow was lower than he expected, landing squarely in his gut. Unable to block out the pain he screamed out his agony, cursing under his breath. The stinger slowly retracted. Victory was close at hand, the scorpion’s poison already started to spread through the Ushinatta. The creature’s left pincer moved in to finish the job.
“Eat some of this!” Kisei gripped his weapon more surely and as he passed chakra through it the umbrella began to spark and crackle with electricity. He swung quickly and struck the inside of it’s claw. Immediately it went numb and fell uselessly, touching the ground. Kisei flipped back to his feet and immediately went for the next pincer. Ignoring the scorpion’s screams as another one of its limbs were shocked. Leaving it with only one option. Its entire body tensed, leaning back and launching the deadly stinger. Kisei simply opened his umbrella to block. Barely avoiding being knocked down under the force.

With some effort he was able to steady his shaky legs. He closed back his umbrella. Kisei pressed his hand against the throbbing in his stomach. At least the job was done. He thought. Well almost. The giant had been frozen in place. It was so still it could be mistaken for dead if not for the occasional twitch. Kisei calmly walked between the pincers to its mouth. With all his strength he thrust the bladed umbrella into it’s mouth and rapidly pulled the trigger. With the explosion under the scorpion's defenses the effect this time was much more dramatic.

The giant scorpion's head exploded, the once mighty being fell to it's stomach, bits and pieces of scorpion flew around with  some landing on Kisei's head much to his disgust. Furiously he tugged his weapon out of the empty skull.

He was about to leave when a spot of pulsing red caught his eye. It was lodged in the skull partially submerged in black glop. It was unnatural definitely, but what was it? Carefully picking it out of the gooey mess he cleaned it with the side of his jacket. It fit snugly into his hand. A perfectly rectangular bar of some kind of black metal. "Alfa will definitely want to see this." He winced from sudden pain. "First I gotta take care of this." Kisei decided. Slowly he walked down toward the hospital. Wondering for a moment if he'd see Ryo there.
