As he sat eating his sushi lunch, Genbu wondered what his next assignment would be. The last mission was certainly interesting, although he truly felt bad about the beating that he had put on the rogue ninja kids he had encounter on his way to place the Kiri sigil stone. After devouring his delicious dragon and tiger rolls, he cleaned up his plate and headed off towards the administration building. As he walked towards the administration, he began to ponder what mission he would take today. He hoped he wouldn’t have to do guard duty as it tended to be the most boring of assignments, but he would do it if he had to because boring ryo is worth just as much as exciting ryo. He entered the administration building to pick up his mission, and come to find out he had gotten stuck with guard duty. “Lovely….” He said to himself. “At least I can relax a bit before guard duty tonight….”

Genbu went back to his place to grab his things and take a quick nap before he had to report to his guard duty assignment. As he walked in to his apt, he threw his things on the floor and placed his guard duty assignment paperwork on the table. He went to his bed and plopped himself down onto the bed, still in his clothes. Before he knew it, he was fast asleep. A couple hours later, he awoke from his nap and realized he had overslept and only had a few minutes to get to his guard duty assignment. He grabbed his trusted sword Hebi and sprinted out to the gate to get to his duty station. As he arrived quite out of breath, his comrades for the night greeted him warmly and asked Genbu to sit for a moment at the gate while they went on the first patrol of the evening. Relieved by the fact he got to sit down, he quickly found a chair near the gate and sat himself down remaining vigilant. As he waited for his two comrades to return, he pondered to himself if the night was going to be dull or not. A part of him hoped it would be a nice quiet night and easy ryo. Another part of him wanted some excitement to break up the monotony of staring into the night, keeping the village safe from intruders.

His comrades returned from their patrol, Genbu prepared himself to take his own patrol. He picked himself up from his nice cushy seat he had been using and began to walk east along the village walls. As he walked, he kept his eye out for any suspicious activity. He walked all the way down the eastern wall, kicking rocks and nodding his head to a new beat he had heard the day before and was replaying in his mind. As he prepared to turn around and make his way back to the gate to finish up his patrol, he heard quite an unnerving sound. The deep howl of a wolf rung out through the night, echoing in the wind.

He continued heading back towards his comrades, keeping himself alert and scanning for signs of the owner of the howl he had just heard. Using his abilities to his advantage, he crept silently through the night with his right hand on the hilt of Hebi, prepared to draw it in the event he needed to defend himself from the wolf. In his peripheral vision, he caught a glimpse of two glowing eyes, staring at him from the darkness of the wood beyond the wall. As he turned to face the beast, it let out a low growl and bared its teeth, shining bright white in the night. The wolf jolted out of the woods, sprinting at Genbu swiftly baring its fangs. Just as it was reaching him, the wolf lunged forward through the air at Genbu. Reacting as quickly as he could, Genbu grabbed the beast by its throat as it knocked him onto his back. The wolf positioned itself over Genbu, attempting to bite his face and throat while being kept at bay by Genbu’s grasp on its throat. In his peripherals, Genbu caught a glimpse of yet another wolf preparing to assist the other wolf. Knowing that his situation was becoming increasingly more dire and realizing his comrades could not help in this situation he quickly reached down with his right hand, keeping his left hand on the throat of the wolf, and pulled out Hebi flowing chakra through it to increase its cutting power.  As the wolf was about bite his face, he sliced open its belly and disemboweled the beast, halting its assault on his face.

As the second wolf made its approach, Genbu quickly pushed the dying wolf off him into the charging beast. As the two wolves collided, Genbu got himself up and quickly dash behind the beast leaving an after image behind to distract it. The moment he was behind the beast, he plunged Hebi deep into the beasts head, causing it to let out a yelp of pain and then silence as it slump down to the ground. Blood still dripping off Hebi and his clothes, Genbu examined himself for any wounds he may have suffered during his adrenaline filled encounter. He had a few scratches here and there, nothing severe. “That could have ended particularly poorly…” Genbu said to himself as he let out a sigh of relief. He quickly sprinted back towards the gate, using the last bits of adrenaline he had left. As he approached the gate, he saw his comrades waiting for his return. As he reached the gate, covered in wolf’s blood, his comrades approached him to ensure his safety. He assured them he was ok, but he was certainly tired from his near death experience. As comrades forced him to go to the hospital and get cleaned up. “Thank you, guys. I’ll go to the hospital and get patched up. I’ll be right back.” He said will a smile on his face. His comrades ensured him they could handle without him and to get better. Genbu walked his way to the hospital dripping with the blood of wolves…
