His body was lax, letting it seemingly droop over the bed. The shinobi pushed his tired body up began his morning routine.

“Brushed teeth, check, Brushed hair, check, Shinobi gear, check, Cleaned weapons…”

“Oh nooo!” Kenji placed his Hane down on a table and grabbed his cleaning kit. After pulling up a chair he opened up his kit and realized he was all out of the supplies he needed. The stain remover was empty, his silk wire cloth was missing, and most importantly he was out of steel and wood sheen. “This is awful, I can’t go out with dirty sub-par weapons; I have a reputation to uphold.” The ninja leaned back in his chair and sighed. “Why is the ceiling getting further away…” THUMP!

“Ouch! Without my weapons in mint condition, I just can’t function.” It was true, Kenji was extremely nimble and well coordinated, but when his weapons were not to his liking he turned into the clutz of the century. While rubbing his head he attached his basic weapons to his person, kunai and shuriken. They were in a pair of pouches on the back of his hip, and one pouch on each thigh. Kenji was wearing loose fitting black sweat pants and a grey t-shirt. Underneath his shirt though was a body wrap of light grey, almost white cloth. The cloth ran under the t-shirt covering both of his arms and hands. The cloth also snaked up his neck to cover half his face, stopping just under his nose. One piece of Kenji’s arsenal that seemed to be impervious to wear and tear was his gloves of reflection. He slid the sleek and shiny gloves on snug.

As Kenji stepped foot outside his quarters and into the rustling city of the war burdened Kirigakure, in all honesty he wasn’t exactly sure where he could find the supplies he was in need of. “I could try the west district first where the weapon shop is… I was there a few days ago though, the place is a wreck, they were almost out of shuriken, kunai, and were in need of paper explosives bad. Until the next shipment comes in, that is a no for sure. Hmm, where else could I find my precious supplies for my cleaning kit?” After a few more minutes of pondering where the best place to start his search, he finally threw in the towel and decided to just ask around.

Kenji stopped by the fish market first, “Excuse me…” “Are you here to buy fish?!” The shinobi forced a smile as he looked away in annoyance, he cleared his throat, “No, but if I could…” “Sorry, we have no time for non paying customers, we have no time to waster during these times, please go!” Kenji didn’t want to be a nuisance, and he definitely didn’t want to be trouble. Despite his aggravation with the woman’s attitude… he decided that it was best he continued his search elsewhere. After Kenji left a little boy ran up to the woman who had brown hair bobbed to her chin, “Mommy, why didn’t you hear the man?” The mother puffed, “It wasn’t that I was too busy, I just don’t like people with blue hair. What, it gives me the creeps.”

Passing by the standing and well to do structure of Kirigakure was motivation for him to continue on. It would be a shame to let such a historic city, with such great potential fall in the peak of its promise. This was what the shinobi was fighting to protect, and the people that lived here. However, back to the task at hand, Kenji found the next few people he chatted with much more friendly, but still had no clue where he could find his… special supplies. The Jounin was aware they weren’t the most common of supplies, but c’mon.

The shinobi hadn’t wavered in the slightest, he was only more determined. “I have to turn the heat up on my search. How can I be of help to Kirigakure with dirty weapons…?” As Kenji’s mind envisioned him fighting with grimy ninja tools, his bottom lip began to quiver. “I have to find what I’m looking for, I just have to.”

Off to the north, he could here much commotion. There were clearly a lot of people in that area. The more people the more he can ask, the more he can ask the better his chances were. He double timed it to the area; he saw a large stand on top of a platform with a banner hanging from two posts on opposites ends of the platform reading, “FREE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES! STAY HEALTHY DURING THESE DANGEROUS TIMES!” He watched the people clamoring for positions. “This is awesome. I heard one of the shipments from Kiri’s main fruit and vegetable supplier got sacked, that was three days ago. But we were able to get it back! I’m going to get me a basket!” Kenji heard the man say. The determined man was not interested in fruits & veggies at the moment.

Instead, he scanned the area quickly, and began to ask around for help with the locating of his particular supplies. As the number of people he could ask dwindled he had to speed up, as the people were also in a rush to get their baskets and leave. He was able to find a lady that seemed not to be in such a hurry, so he knew he had a chance to at least get a sentence or two out. Kenji approached her at a gradual pace. “Excuse me!” Kenji waved his reflective glove at the lady to get her attention. “Yes, if you don’t mind I have a question. I’m looking for some particular cleaning supplies. Stain remover, silk wire cloth, and steel/wood sheen. Now, if you know where I could find ONE, or have ONE of those things, I would be extremely grateful. In turn, I would owe you. Anything, just ask.” To him obtaining those supplies were priceless, and at this point, just one would do. Kenji knew she could help him, she just had to, and it would be his last shot. After that he would have to resort to spit shining his katana. If she could help him, he was a bit nervous though about what she might ask in return.

A string of sunlight came through the light curtains. It went straight into Saiyuki her eyes. Grunts came from her and she turned her head to the other side of her bed. She hated the hotel she was sleeping at. Her neighbours were loud and she had so little living space. It was two rooms. A bathroom and a room which was a dining room, kitchen and bedroom. Not to forget she didn't even have a sofa. What a luxery. The bed she was sleeping on cracked with every move she made, sl did her neighbours bed, she heard it almost every night. It really started to get on her nerves. And last but not least her damn neighbours also had one of those little rat like dogs, that actually no one likes accept the owners themselves. It barked to almost every sound. What a coincidence, it started to bark right away. "Guess his drama queen is awake. I swear if i see that damn dog. I'll throw it out of the window with the purse its in. I hate that rat." Saiyuki kept on complaining. That was her usual thing when she slept badly, or not at all, like the past few days. It wasn't just the dkg, the crackling bed, the not soft matress, the sunlight or any other sound or light. It was the war that was going on. Ti think she was trying to sleep while people were in danger and maybe even dying. She got goosebumps everytime she thought about it. To think that she was complaining that she had a bed, that she had a roof over her head, while others were sleeping on the streets because of their home being wrecked by some kind of freak. It got her mood down even more. But everytime she walked outside, she saw kids, people, having fun, at times like this. It was amazing how innocent people could be. How unknowing they were, or how good they were at forgetting things. She was jealous of all of them. How they could live with it. How did they do it... It was a total mystery to Saiyuki. Even when she was a kid, she saw everything. Noticed all thecbad things that happened, and even then she wished to know the mystery behind not knowing, not seeing and not hearing certan things. The power to forget is incredible. How much she wished she would have such power.

Now that the shining sunlight woke the grumpy woman up, she just had to stand up and make some kind of breakfast or at least something that came close to breakfast. Moving muscles and legs made her sit up straight on her bed. Her feet touched the freezing floor and her tiny toes curled up due to the cold. A sigh escaped her red lips and she let her head hang loose. Other several sighs came up as she heard the next door rat make a squeeking noise, which she guessed should be dog barks? Saiyuki was imagining a scene were she would meet the dogowner and the rat himself in the hallway. What she would do to them was funny enough to bring up a smile on her face. She opened her eyes and searched for her eyepatch. "You got to be fucking kidding me?! I swear i put i here when i went sleeping! Damn it! First i had a shitty night and then i lose my eyepatch?! ARGH!!!" Saiyuki screamed and shouted through the whole building and got quick complains from both her neighbours. They started knocking like animals at her door.

"Yeah, sure for the one time I shout. You all come knocking at my door." Saiyuki murmurred under her breath. A smirk came to her face as she was planning out another scenario, which she was going to do this time, for real. Saiyuki went to stand in front of her still closed door. "Knock, knock." She said still smiling. The idiotic woman who owned the rat answered. "Oh oh! I know this game! Who's there?" She saod with a curious voice. Saiyuki couldn't believe she was actually playing along. With a quick move, Sai opened the door without her eyepatch on. "Why don't YOU zip it?" And then she closed the door again, but something got stuck between the closing door. With both her eyes she looked down to see a foot in a shoe. "Shit..." She thought in herself, "why must this happen to me?". A strong arms pushed the door open from the outside. Saiyuki only took a step back to not get hit by it. "Do you think you are funny, little girl! I was trying to fucking sleep!" A strong looking man approached into her combi room. Saiyuki didn't move a finger. Not even when the man's chest was barely touching her forehead.

"Be quiet. Or i'll make sure i'll be quiet, pipsqueek." The man was almost the double length as Saiyuki, be she did nlt back away or say sorry. "Why don't you make me shut up right away, before I start cursing until you ears will star bleeding?" The eyebrow above Sai her green eye was raised. Her blue and green eye both stared icy at the man's grey ones. "I'm not scared of you, 'Mr. All these muscles are probably fake because I only have them thanks to proteinshakes.' " The bigger, larger and heavier person's forehead vein began to tremble. The man got all read and he crashed into Saiyuki. "All right pal. I had a bad morning, first the light woke me up than, that rat dog over there started making strange noises which are not normal for a dog and then I lost my eyepatch. So you want to mess with me, fine!" Sai went totally into the fight. Even though she got knocked onto the ground with the heavy weight on her tiny little body. Growls came from Sai as she got her arms loose and swung them around the bull sized neck of the man. All she did was give him a soft knee kick and he squeeked all the way back into his room. Saiyuki threw the door closed and started to undo her pj's. But first the glad but still irritated woman opened the curtains and now hapily let the light shine upon her. Well, she didn't knew the sun would blind her eyes that fast as she accidently looked straight in it. She cursed and brought her hand to her eyes to comfort them. Everywhere Aiyuki now looked, she saw a big round spot in the opposite color of what she was looking at. It pretty much annoyed her for a few minutes but then faded away. The Kobayashi member blinked several times with her eyes to get used to the sunlight that was in her room. Then Sai wen to her bathroom to take a fresh shower and brush her hair. She did nothing special with it, though, she just let it hang loose around her head. She was in a very casual mood.

Luckily for her, her clothes weren't gone. She knew she wasn't going to do any missions today so she wore a brown pants, some easy fitting sneakers on her feet and black and white striped hoodie. She stretched her earlier squished body and for safety she swung her katana on her back. She went outside and heard people yelling. Something about free fruits and vegetables? Anyway, Saiyuki went to check it out, maybe something amusing would happen there. The weather was better than any other day she was in Kirigakure, it was still chilly and it would most likely start to rain but, it was nice. The wind was still cold as well, but with her hoodie she hardly felt it. Saiyuki saw a man walking around looking a bit stressed. It was amazing how good she could see without that one eyepatch hiding her single green eye. The blue haired man came her way asking if she knew where to get cleaning supplies. Saiyuki of course did not. She only was here for the missions and didn't know anything about the city itself, whoch was a shame. "Ehh... I'm sorry, i don't live here so yeah, but you were saying that you needed stain remover? I actually need that too." It was the truth, Sai needed a stain remover for the carpet. She accidently let her sake fall on the ground and now it is sticky and a big spot. And everytime the small woman walked on it with her bare feet, it felt really gross. "You really haven't found it anywhere? None of those items? That's strange for a local... You are from here, right?" Saiyuki tried to stay as polite as possible since, she wanted to avoid getting knocked over again. This guy kinda looked smarter than the one at the hotel, he wasn't as big as him, but he seemed way smarter then the bull necked muscle freak.

Kenji’s hopeful eyes sparkled as the woman’s mouth began to move. If Kenji was more perceptive he probably would’ve noticed the slight change in her face that would hint that she indeed did not have knowledge of where the shinobi could obtain the supplies. She would go on to say something along those lines. His brow furrowed as his seemingly last hope of finding his ticket to appealing equipment was lost. On the brink of blocking out all sound, Kenji heard her speak more, this time with some enthusiasm that she might be able to help him after all. She would actually express that the two of them held something in common. This struck Kenji’s interest. It turned out that the lady was in need of stain remover as well. “Well, what a coincidence…” The man’s mind began to work as he configured how this new information could assist him in his goal.

Kenji began to acknowledger her appearance; she was dressed casually, with brown pants and a zebra hoodie. The lady made even the most laid back attire alluring, Kenji was impressed. He further realized that he had been so caught up in getting info on his task that he had been as rude as to not introduce himself. Before he could correct his error in courtesy she spoke again. Her inquisition was a logical one, as she wondered how a resident of Kirigakure was unaware of where to find such items. Kenji smiled behind the cloth that covered his mouth at the comment as it opened the door for him to tell her a little about himself, which he was always fond of doing. There were few pleasures the world had to offer him that was more satisfying than the sound of his own voice. As Kenji pulled the cloth from across his mouth down, the foolhardy man spoke politely, “have I lost my mountainous charm…” Kenji said in a barely audible tone, slyly implying that he thought his appearance was that of a Kumogakure ninja, or at least of someone not from Kiri. “I’m actually not from around here, I’ve been… sent, in order to align with Kirigakure against a brutal enemy that needs to be stopped.” He put a tad of emphasis on the word “sent”, as that wasn’t exactly the case. They now had two things in common, they were both looking for stain remover and neither of them was from the village hidden within the mist. Kenji wanted to add a third commonality, them knowing each others’ name. “I’ve been in such a haste I have forgotten my manners. My name is Kenji, and I am a Kumogakure shinobi. So how about we go on the search for stain remover together, and I help you with something for accompanying me?” Kenji removed his glove of reflection from his right hand. He extended his right arm that was wrapped lightly with grayish cloth snaking all around up to his knuckles.

The common greeting gesture, the handshake was proposed. Kenji wasn’t quite sure why the lady had captured his attention so. She was certainly attractive, and that probably played a role. Perhaps it was the fact that she was polite, and they ended up “looking” for the same thing. He was positive that she wasn’t as stressed about stain remover as he was though. But for some reason, the tall athletic blue haired male found himself waiting, yearning for the woman to reciprocate his gesture, by offering her hand, as well longing to hear her name. The brisk wind caused his blue hair to wiggle gently from side to side as he stood.

Saiyuki looked the man up and down, analysing his appearance. The laid back sweat pants looked quite comfortable. She might even have the same one at home. Oh yeah, she wasn't in Iwagakure any longer. She hadn't been there in over five months, which she found unfortunate. She missed her friends. Well, if they still were her friends after disappearing to Konoha. She began thinking about where she has been. Konoha, Iwa and now in Kiri. That is already three countries. She no longer found herself a real Iwagakure shinobi, more like a Ronin, a wanderer. Someone free, but still loyal to the law and higher ups, not like a Missing Nin. Would someone consider her a missing nin? To even think of herself that way was strange. Sai looked back to the blue haired man. He had blue hair, that facinated her. Blue is a beautiful color, it fitted him well. It paired perfectly with his muscular but still lean body and how hided his mouth with the scarf.

Mountainous charm? That confused the short woman. What the bluenette said next explained it all. "I’ve been in such a haste I have forgotten my manners. My name is Kenji, and I am a Kumogakure shinobi. So how about we go on the search for stain remover together, and I help you with something for accompanying me?” He came from Kumogakure. Saiyuki hadn't been there, she wished she did. She loved snow and mountains. Snow is so playful and unique and so are mountains. Together they would be perfect. As Saiyuki listened to the man, she noticed that he had been sent as well. Probably for his duty, just like her. Too protect Kiri from whatever monster is out there.

After a few silent seconds it got to Sai. "I guess it is my turn to talk now. I was daydreaming a bit sorry. Well, I am Saiyuki from the Kobayashi clan. I serve for Iwagakure. Sure, I'm in, but what kind of help were you planning on giving me, Kenji?" A small grin was stitched onto the Iwagakure shinobi's face as she looked up from under her eyelashes. Saiyuki took the hand he was giving her and shook it, politely. "Let's get going then!" Her voice was light and had a positive vibe. It went way better now that this morning. She had one of the most shittiest mornings in her whole life. At least in her top 5 of shitty mornings.

Saiyuki turned around and walked in a direction, she looked around her and spotted someone who might know where they could get cleaning supplies. She tapped softly on the man's shoulders. "Excuse me, Sir? Can you help me?" The Kobayashi said with a helpless tone in her voice. Her eyes were almost begging for help. The man looked her up and down and raised an eyebrow. "Poor woman, how can I help you?" his voice was too friendly for his appearence. The short Sai played the sad and helpless girl, which worked pretty good. She had asked where a market was, where they could maybe find the stain remover. The man did not know for sure, but if they headed south they would find some stores. Saiyuki bowed for the help she got and headed back to Kenji.

"Kenji! We need to head south!" The woman walked up to him while shouting. Hopefully, Saiyuki's bad feeling of direction wouldn't be on time out.

The ruckus of the market place where the goods were being passed out reached a crescendo as Kenji stood in front of the young lady. As she began talking, he stepped in a little closer so he could hear her a little better. He stood upright and listened closely with soft eyes. He gathered much information from her introduction. Her name was finally shared with him, it was an exotic name that he had never had the pleasure of hearing before… Saiyuki. What a pleasant name, it just rolled right off the tongue. Kenji could imagine many jingles and tunes to go along with the name. He snapped out of the trance of creating catchy tunes with the female’s name. She went on to tell him that she hailed from the Kobayashi clan and that she was from Iwagakure. What a pleasant surprise? Of all the places that comprised the ninja world, Iwagakure was by far the one he most desired to visit. His fascination with the village stemmed from his Senjutsu training. During the training he learned of the first man to master Lion Senjutsu, and he was a native of Iwagakure. The First Lion Sennin was a legend, and to visit the place where he started would be amazing. Kenji was also curious as to what else the shin obi village had to offer as well… so far Iwagakure had another thing he liked.

Saiyuki seemed more than willing to assist the not so distraught anymore Kenji. The bluenette nodded his head in response to Saiyuki’s agreement to help him. The short woman spotted a person that definitely appeared at first glance to be knowledgeable of the area and was worth approaching. Kenji shot a glance over at Saiyuki, he had a feeling that this could be there break. Without further ado she walked over to the guy, she spoke in a sweet and charming tone. The lean shin obi dropped his head a bit, and couldn’t help but smile a bit at the classic tactic. After a brief conversation, she hurried back to the blue hair Jounin. She exclaimed with excitement, “Kenji! We need to head south!” Kenji puffed out his chest, “It’s time for an adventure.”
They began their march south… in search for the coveted cleaning supplies. What they would encounter on their mission no one could foresee. They were in foreign lands… and during turbulent times. Anything could be waiting for them south. The unlikely pair who had a common goal would find out soon enough. Heading in the direction that the man had pointed them in took them into the city. They walked with a purpose through the quiet and eerie streets. There was no one in this area, as it had been one of Seven Bells favorite target areas. Most of all the citizens had decided to steer clear from the area completely, and it was encouraged by the allied shin obi force too. Kenji’ eyes calmly danced over the area, as they walked through the spooky town. “Saiyuki, I don’t know about this place. We should… did you hear that?”
There the sound was again. It sounded like a squeaking sound… coming from above. Kenji’s eyes shot upwards to the roof to their right. There were several figures standing atop the rooftop about 8 meters away and 15 meters high. A sensation of gloom rushed over his entire body as he realized all he had on him was shuriken, kunai, and his skills. It would have to suffice this go around. The source of the squeaking sound soon became apparent.

There were 5 people. They stood in an arrow formation, with one guy in the middle and two on each side of him. There was 3 guys and 2 women. The man at the center raised a rubber ducky to the skies, and then squeezed it. This time the irritating sound was much louder, so loud and annoying it caused Kenji to cringe a bit. Whatever it was, it was not an ordinary rubber ducky. Kenji put his hand on Saiyuki’s shoulder, he didn’t know her temperament and didn’t want to chance her attacking. His left hand rested gently on her right shoulder. Kenji looked up to face the group, “We do not want any trouble… this is going to sound bizarre…” What was he saying? How could anything sound bizarre to a guy holding a rubber ducky, that squeaked. “We’re just looking for some cleaning supplies.” Kenji turned away from the group of  people. They were dressed in yellow rain coats and green boots. Just as Kenji was about to walk away with Saiyuki he heard one of them clap their hands loudly. “This is your lucky day. You see, I’m Mr. Squeaky Clean and we’re the Squeaky Clean Rubber Ducky Crew, also known as, S.C.R.D.C. We’ve monopolized all the cleaning supplies in this area. We were once a petty bandit group, but during the chaos of the war we’ve decided to change our area of expertise. Anything you need, will have to be obtained through us.” The man in the center, Mr. Clean spoke with a evil smile on his face as he held the yellow rubber ducky. The yellow jackets had hoods that  covered most of their faces. The man in the center removed his, revealing an almost blindingly shiny bald head. The others behind Mr. Clean lifted their head to reveal their shiny and glossy faces. “Do they wash their face with baby oil?” Kenji thought to himself.

Kenji sighed, he let out a puff of air. When he did,  the two women retrieved a scroll from under their yellow rain coats that dropped to their knees. They rolled the scrolls along the surface of the rooftop. Upon slamming their hands on their scroll, a puff of black smoke appeared. It cleared quickly, and revealed a stack of chests. One of the women opened hers, and held up a tube of stain remover…

Kenji’s eyes shifted to Saiyuki. He spoke in a whisper, “They are not going to give us any of the supplies we need out of the kindness of their heart. What should we do?”

Kenji couldn’t imagine what this… Squeaky Clean Rubber Ducky Crew, could possibly want in return for the cleaning supplies. All Kenji knew was, that he was ready to take the supplies by force if it came to it. Actually, he should probably do it anyway, it was not right for this single group of bandits to horde all the cleaning supplies like this. He then  gave Saiyuki a look that said just that. He felt it was his responsibility to take all of those supplies, but he would wait for Saiyuki’s suggestion and take on the situation… who knows, despite SCDCC’s ridiculous outfits and their silly name, they might actually be formidable opponents.
