Karumo sat at his desk within the university, soon he was going to be taking on students of his own to train, and even further beyond that he hoped to join the ANBU. His eyes set on becoming captain of the Oracles if he could, or to at least join their ranks, it was a part of the organization after his own heart in the end.

Karumo exited the library of Diamond Heights University, his held his hand over his eyes as he exited, it seemed the sun had gotten much brighter since he originally entered the building that morning. The day was bright, few clouds scattered the sky and several people were walking around the university, a few civilians and one or two shinobi caught his eyes as he walked down the steps of the building. It was mid afternoon already and he was taking a break from his studies to grab lunch, relax some and stretch his legs, whatever else he could think of. He recently started spending a lot of time in the buildings of the university and its affiliates, further expanding his skills and knowledge and learning the foundation and basis of fuinjutsu, outside the part where he was pretty much living on the campus grounds in one of the old jounin instructor's floors.

Karumo made his way to the courtyard, almost no one was there which was odd, he found himself in the rare opportunity of enjoying the view of grounds without anyone to disturb him or to interrupt it's grandeur. From his coat jacket he pulled out one of his cigars, cutting the tip of it and lightning it, he sat down next to one of the trees and sat quietly while he smoked it. He overlooked the entrance of the university, facing the gate towards the rest of the village. He sat, watching those that walked by to wherever they were going, just observing and letting his mind wander about. Occasionally he would ash his cigar into a pile next to him, refusing to lift his head from the tree.

For now, he was going to relax, then maybe grab food before returning to work and/or training. His legs spread out and pile of ash slowly growing, the end of his cigar was mostly ash and glowed bright red in the moments of each inhalation. This scene of calm serenity would continue on for quite some time, until he arose and began to head towards the village and into the main of it all. His goal would be to grab food before returning to work, as little as he might like to do that.

Popping the muscles in her back Jet sighed with content. Another day gone well. After several strenuous day she managed to clear all the prisoners captured within the last week and extract all the information from them. Most of them had managed to only last till the very end and pass on soon after. Others didn't hold out for long and spilled everything within a few minutes then carried out to a cell. A couple had to be returned to their employers either to act as an informant or to deal with their punishment. If it made them feel any better she would have executed them herself instead of the horrors that awaited them outside the village walls. The world was not as kind as she was so they should and were grateful for the offer though she had to admit, she did take a certain pleasure to those who fought until their last breath. How they managed to hold out for so long on spirit alone was astonishing. Truly she tried various methods, even using some unorthodox ones that she managed to slip in. Hiring a genjutsu specialist to make them relive their worst nightmares. Having the medic heal them over and over so they may experience the pain many times. An aburame that was a long standing member had found an ingenious method after reading a manga of inserting centipedes into their eyes while scorpions stung them with a heinous venom. Such lovely art.

Of course she still had certain lines she couldn't cross. Something about inhumane practices and protection laws. Che, criminals should have no right to that sort of idiocy. We mean it's fine for civilian offenders to have it since they hardly commit a crime so complex and crazy but these are ninja we are talking about. They should endure the pain, it's what they signed up for. Well she wondered if those said troublesome laws could be revoked and she managed to worm her way into ANBU. . .yes it did sound very nice. As she plotted Jet bumped into someone she didn't recognize nor cared for. Wait no she listened to their ramblings. It was one of her and insert gag admirers. Ooooh the horror. Never did she see the day she, the royal bitch, would have a-an admirer. Jeez the mere mention of the word made her want to. You know what, she didn't have time for this shit. Looking back at the brat who wouldn't shut up and was getting too close for comfort she told him something. If he really wanted to make her happy he should head to the T&I Department and clean up the cells she was working in. With a beaming smile and words of . . .love, the brat ran off to the department. It didn't take long for Jet to hear a scream of terror.

Snickering she headed to the courtyard of the university, it was a short cut to Nanashi's floor, though she didn't use it much except an occasional housing arena since she hadn't been promoted yet nor had students or. . .yea she really needed to get out more and do something. She would've ignored the smell of smoke had she not glanced at its source seeing a familiar yet older face. She turned and walked behind him smiling softly with perfect grace you wouldn't think she had a bad bone in her body and spoke "Good Evening Karumo-san"

Karumo walked down the street, blowing smoke behind him as he walked forward, his hands in his pockets as he walked. It was probably a useless skill to be able to smoke without actually holding it, but he had gotten used to walking around and smoking all the same. From behind him he heard a familiar voice call out, "Good Evening Karumo-san" it rang behind him for a second. With some casual grace, he took his left hand from his pocket and grabbed his cigar as he turned towards her. With some surprise he spoke, "Oh!" he grabbed the cigar from his mouth and blew the smoke out to the left of his face and away from Yuurei.

He stopped walking and turned towards Yuurei as he spoke, "Long time no see Yuurei, how have you been? It's been a while... what have you been up to lately?" she smiled brightly and it surprised him. It was clear she was in a good mood, but when he normally saw Jet, it was either in a mission and there wasn't much to smile about or it was something more serious. It was a good change of pace as far as he was concerned, hopefully a little less torturing people going around and things of that sort. "Where do you happen to be off to? Hopefully staying out of trouble and all that..." he asked as cordially as he could. He kept his cigar by his side near his pocket and let his left arm hang down freely and with his right arm, he removed it from his pocket.

He smiled politely as he waited to hear what she had to say and re connect with an old friend. Abandoning for a short time to get  his lunch, but for a worthy cause in his eyes, and it would even let him procrastinate a little bit more on his task if he wanted to. And if she wasn't doing anything, he would debate extending an invitation to her to join him, wherever he would end up going.

As she suspected her greeting was perhaps a bit off, they were not friends however she had wanted them to be and perhaps closer. It never hurts to have powerful allies. Especially in a clan she was very interested in for more reasons than she would disclose. However she hopes her approach in welcome. On missions she refuses to be churlish and fail therefore she keeps it as professional as possible to enhance her chances of success and minimize the damage wreaked. Perhaps today Karumo would be more receptive of her than his cousin Fukai had been. She wouldn't want any more bad blood than there already is."Please call us Jet. Yuurei is much too informal and we are not on a mission" She has long shed herself of her more jovial eccentric persona that much was true but no good would come of alienating herself and painting a target on her back. Only she could do so much alone and that's not counting her employees. "We have been well. A couple months prior we began working in the T&I Department and it has kept us plenty busy but it's enjoyable work"
Well enjoyable for her not for them. Must folk didn't see the T&I Department in the brightest light but people would have to understand measures had to be taken to ensure the welfare of the entire committee. Wanting to gauge what Fukai had said if anything to Karumo she mentioned the exams. "We have only recently return from Kumo as we were spectating the exams. Your friend Fukai was there as well and we believe that although he hadn't won he was promoted"

Trouble? Her? Why they were practically married to each other. To even imagine it was not was laughable."Why a life without struggle is no life we need. We believe in the spice of life so getting our hands dirty time from time is no chore"

"And yourself? It's been a hot topic that you were promoted yourself and will be taking up students in the future. Congratulations by the way"
Jet decided now was the best time to glide to the side of the bench and sit herself down next to Karumo keeping a respectful distance between the two and offering her hand to shake to reaffirm her congrats to the young clan head as the gears turned in her head. She would be interested in the clan head's future plans and how they can be weaved into her own.

"Please call us Jet. Yuurei is much too informal and we are not on a mission" she said, he nodded in agreement, "You got it Jet..." he let on quietly and let her continue. "We have been well. A couple months prior we began working in the T&I Department and it has kept us plenty busy but it's enjoyable work" she continued on. He wasn't immediately sure what the T&I department was, but he would let her continue on before asking about that. Karumo continued smoking his cigar one last puff of it, he drew a huge amount of smoke out as she spoke. Once he did, he held it for a second in his mouth, dropping his cigar to the ground at his side, there was only a small amount of it left to smoke and he had forsaken it. "We have only recently return from Kumo as we were spectating the exams. Your friend Fukai was there as well and we believe that although he hadn't won he was promoted" she let on. Karumo turned his head to the side away from her again and pushed the smoke out in a thick cloud. He stepped on the cigar lightly and rubbed his foot on it and smeared it across the grass next to him to put it out completely and kill its burn.

"Yeah, I knew he was going, but I haven't had a chance to catch up with him since he got back. It was unfortunate that I couldn't catch these exams, but maybe I'll be able to make the next one. Still, it's good that he got promoted and all, moving up is a big achievement." Karumo smiled as he spoke, he was happy for Fukai and all, but Jet continued on retorting his comment about her staying out of trouble. "Why a life without struggle is no life we need. We believe in the spice of life so getting our hands dirty time from time is no chore"
he chuckled slightly and smiled with the edge of his mouth. "And yourself? It's been a hot topic that you were promoted yourself and will be taking up students in the future. Congratulations by the way" she added afterwards. He nodded his head and thanked her, "Thanks, I do appreciate it. But a hot topic? That just sounds like I've been in some of the gossip going around." he chuckled slightly. He sat down on the bench with her as well and shook her hand, it seemed a bit awkward at first, but then again from someone who spoke in a third person plural perspective. Perhaps a hand shake would be the least of it, but it did throw him off, because for the life of him, he couldn't remember if Jet had always spoken in plural but he knew it would be rude and incosiderate to ask now.

He sat there for a second with her before sighing and turning his head and his shoulders towards her suddenly, leaning his right arm against the bench and leaning in slightly, "Listen, do you want to join me for lunch? It's on me, but I'm just rather starving right now, we can talk on the way there. If not, I understand completely." he assured as he sat back up in his posture and waited for her response.

If she accepted his offer, he would stand up and offer his hand to help her up and lead her on before he himself continued on, "But yes, I'll be taking on a squad of genin soon, at least I put in an application to begin teaching at the university and all. And I imagine that's where they'll place me for the time being. But, I also hope to join the ANBU as well, the Oracles special division has caught my eye, a group with an ideology and affair after my own heart." he laughed as he would lead them on down the path.

Soon the duo would arrive at a noodle shop just down the road as they entered the main of the village. Karumo would lead inside and take a seat at the bar up in the front of the shop, taking a seat to the left and leaving a spot for Jet to join him.

With a smirk at Karumo, she chuckled at the bit "Trust us, the gossip mill hasn't producing as much as it could be aside from the banter of jealous wife and boasting men"

When offered an invitation to join Karumo for a meal she accepted."We would would love you join you as we are feeling a bit peckish our self" He took his hand in hers helping her up then lead them away from the university onto the main road. Jet held her hands behind her back while she swayed a bit as she walked, not to the point it look like she was ill but more that she had some pep in her step. She mused for a bit before she shared her viewpoints."We cannot say we envy you. Although we were told to take up students of our own once arrangements have been made we do not care for it. Children were never our cup of tea. We're sure any genin to be would prefer to be in your loving care than ours" Her diastase towards children was apparent but she accepted her fate. It would be troublesome but she saw the benefits of being a sensei and would make the most of it when the time came.

Still she originally never pegged Karumo for the ANBU type but he did give off the detective vibe, trying to create a treaty and bring his clan into more of the village affairs. The Oracles would do him well. Better than for her. She was more leaning to the Crimson Elite. Assassination an Information gathering were foreplay to her."Ah the ANBU. It seems someone is actually making the aspirations a reality. So much talk of saying their the captain to be but fall short in the clutch. But the new division certainly make ANBU seem more appealing to not only the shinobi but general public. It makes them seem more. . .humane? More than the ruthless assassin of tall tale"

"We will be sure to treat you once you have been accepted into their ranks. Perhaps one of these days a spar is in order?"

Once they reached the restaurant the two of them took a seat at the bar."Evening you two. On a little date are ya" Oh yea it was February, the month of. . .love. Revolting the subject is, a little glare at the man shut him up. Laughing awkwardly and a bit of recognition although her appearance changed it was still the same girl. A troublesome one that is."Ahh hehe my bad, just been seeing so many parings walking by I was assuming. Hehe but I guess this ain't exactly the place you would take a girl out for the night" Coughing a bit he took out a pair of small menus and placed them in front of the pair as a took out a notepad and pen.

However internally he was whispering a small prayer for the young lad. Poor guy to get roped into that she-devil's web. Probably thought his balls were a size too large to take her on. A pretty one she was but a bit too feisty for most. Still if he managed to tame the beast he would be of legend though it was doubtful. The last to try was Nanashi-sama, the Pestilence of Iwagakure and from what he has heard, it didn't end well for both parties. The man practically disappeared off the face of the earth. It was rumored that she spirited him away down to the pits of hell. Others say she framed him for a crime and he was left rotting in the cells of Anthros Keep. Maybe she poisoned his food and drink or slit his throat while in midst of nighttime activities. All sorts of rumors were circulating about her, most of which were too ridiculous to be true but for civilian folk with nothing better to do they would actually believe it. If she hadn't been taking anger management classes she might have taken a more firm stance and stop these rumors at the source. Instead if it ever annoyed her she counted from 1-100 while imaging a most gruesome death in her head. The amount of violence she was holding herself from was one of the main reasons she was allowed to work in the T&I Department. It helped her work off some steam and let her be in her element.

She continued to count in her head as the man asked them for their orders. She herself ordered the tonkotsu. It was a ramen dish that had roasted pork belly, collard greens, soy marinated soft egg, bean sprouts, smoked onion, black garlic oil and scallion. She also got a honjozo sake on the side. It would take a few minutes for the ramen to be made but she got her sake quickly so she allowed herself a small sip before she questioned Karumo further. "How goes things on your end? Reacquainting yourself with the village we mean? You were in Suna for quite some time after all. Hopefully the journey wasn't too harsh" If one was careful, you could notice the slight bitterness to suna. It was her homeland after though the records didn't know too much about it. As far as the bookkeepers know, she traveled around it for her youth before traveling with a merchant group around the elemental nation before the incident happened. After all some things were best left buried. Still she hid it well and now most people, most intelligent shinobi people, decided her past wasn't important. The question of her loyalty was still there but she proved to be a valuable asset so most of the higher ups were willing to let a few things go. Anyone who wanted to start something could kiss her ass. If they had enough courage to talk shit they better be prepared to back it up. She knew the tools of her trade and she'll make it known.

She smiled at him as she spoke, "Trust us, the gossip mill hasn't producing as much as it could be aside from the banter of jealous wife and boasting men" Karumo chuckled at the thought. His immediate reaction would be to comment on whether she was the jealous wife herself or just hanging around boasting men. But then he thought that would make him the boasting man in this instance, and better to leave it at nothing than to put himself in some situation of his own. She then accepted his offer for lunch, the two of them began to walk down the road, she still seemed very happy to him, as if a completely different person from when she is on a mission. Though it might be for the best in that case, she continued on after thinking for a moment, about the squad and the new happenings, "We cannot say we envy you. Although we were told to take up students of our own once arrangements have been made we do not care for it. Children were never our cup of tea. We're sure any genin to be would prefer to be in your loving care than ours." Karumo chuckled at the thought, he spoke carefree in response, "You've got to give yourself some more credit. I'm sure you'd do fine around the genin, besides, they're not newborns though some can be a bit immature." he smiled while they walked.

Their conversation led onto the ANBU, and something more in her line of work as far as he was concerned, she was always darker and more focused than he was. At least, while she was on missions and such, but she was right about what she had to say. He nodded along with what she said, "Yeah, assassinating and gathering info is one thing, but I'd prefer to implement that information or to dig deeper into problems facing the village,  makes the Oracles the only real place for me in the ANBU. Much more in my line of work, though I suppose I could get my hands dirty if I had to every now and then." he held his hands out in front of him and squeezed them while rotating them, the tattoo on the back of his right hand spoke out to his mind while he did so. "But yeah, when I get in, IF I get in, then it'll definitely be cause for a celebration. Whether we get everyone to have some drinks or... ya know, a simple spar? Whatever's fine with me." he chuckled at the sparring bit.

As the two of them entered the bar, the man behind the counter teased at them as they sat down. A bit of fun humor, Karumo looked towards Jet who was giving him a deathly glare, he laughed and Karumo chuckled as well. He continued on and placed a menu in front of the pair of them, Karumo picked it up and immediately glanced over it and began to ponder about what he would want. They thought it over for a moment, Jet went ahead and ordered something while Karumo continued to look over the menu, musing over his options and hearing Jet order some sake. Karumo looked towards the barmen and spoke while he set his menu down, "I'll have the same thing though, hold the sake though. I'll take a water though..." he left off and handed the menu back to the man as he nodded and went to work on it.

A slight pause as Karumo stretched back a little bit and lightly popped his back, Jet began to speak as he did so, "How goes things on your end? Reacquainting yourself with the village we mean? You were in Suna for quite some time after all. Hopefully the journey wasn't too harsh" he sighed for a moment and came to rest back in his normal posture. The man set down a bottle of Sake and some smaller glasses as well, he left two there along with a rather large bottle. The man then set down a glass of pure water for Karumo, who thanked him and took a sip from it almost immediately while he mused over his thoughts. "Sunagakure was alright, you could call the whole thing rather uneventful though." he spoke as he looked directly ahead towards the barmen preparing the ramen behind the counter. "To oversimplify and summarize, you could say nothing really happened, but at least we'll be on slightly better terms. Lord Akira's gifts will go over well with their council of elders, but I only met with them once and never got to see the Kazekage herself." he thought on for a moment. "And then, the squad kinda got split up and I ended up walking back to the village on my own. Though, the journey felt like a nice vacation at some points." another pause as he took another sip of his water.

"It's probably worth mentioning as well that I won't be leading the Fantomusodo anymore either. They had a minor insurrection but that's mostly taken care of now, but my tenure as the clan head has finished. Not until that older generation of xenophobic devils passes on." he said with a hint of anger in his voice as he looked at his glass of water. "But, I think it'll be a good thing, I'm staying and working at the University almost full time now and it'll clear up my chance to get more involved with the village now. Taking on students and/or joining The Oracles. That kinda thing..." he continued on for a moment. It might be a bit much to tell Jet for a simple meet and greet after they both arrived back in the village but he decided it would be better to inform her now than let some gossip circle ruin it later. "But, besides that, how was your time in Kumo? Did you go all that way just to watch Fukai compete in the exams?" he asked with a little chuckle at the thought. He would have done the same, but then again Fukai was closer to family and part of his clan, it was almost his duty to support him. But Jet's reason for going might be a bit more interesting than that, or perhaps Karumo was only trying to continue the conversation.

She chuckled at the notion. True not all genin were children needing to be catered and watched after. Some needed more guidance then others while the rest were doomed to forever be the lowest of the low. A few shinobi came to mind, all former teammates, none every aspiring to be more than just another face that blended into the crowd. One died. Another spirited away. A girl left. A few more got killed. Others scummed to fate whereas the rest left duty. Not a single of her teammates advanced in life like she did. And advance she did. Here she blossomed more than she ever could in suna. That dreadful dreadful place."Well that's unfortunate but the council was always full of snobbish aristocrats with too much time on their hands. We hope they won't just take the gifts and throw them away in one of the vaults"

While she didn't no all the details by tonight she would so she had no need to badger Karumo about it."Oh? We would say that's unfortunate but it won't be long we're sure. Patience is the key to everything" Though the usefulness the lad had went down considerably however he still had a semblance of value, only slightly higher than his peer and fellow clansman Fukai, therefore she will continue to be cordial. She still has after all many plans in store for them and their clan."If you ever try to take up the mantle once more, know that we will aide you with what we can. A chance to solve the mysterious of your clan is too tempting to pass up" Her sake had arrived so she had taken a sip and twirled the saucer in her hand watching the liquid swirl, mirroring an image in her eyes others cannot see "But you our good sir, seem to walk a path not commonly taken. Just because you're taking things easy now doesn't mean you aren't being watched. You know that better than anyone don't you?" It was a warning, not from her but others. There are whispers, rumors even of plots against him and his clansmen. Always some sort of conspiracy was brewing behind the scenes. Sometimes being out in the open is safer than enclosed in the walls within.

As the topic change so did the previous tense atmosphere. Jet tapped her fingers against her cheek as she pondered and organized her thoughts."Kumo? It was. . .interesting. Not entirely lack luster. But of course we didn't go for site seeing but rather we had some business and not the desirable kind. There was that and we wished to follow our master, former master we should say now. We used to be under the care of a medic, one of the best around. Nanashi"By now the food had arrived along with their drinks. She thanked the man and took a pair of chopsticks breaking them apart as she stirred the dish then took a silver spoon and let in it before taking it out, examining it for a millisecond until she was satisfied. It was not poisoned."However we had a falling out as we could not see eye to eye. Yet he disappeared not long after we left. If it's simply a coincidence we do not know nor care. Only it's causing us more trouble than it's worth"

"Fukai?" Jet took her chopsticks in hand, stirring the broth, inhaling the scent before scooping it up and into her mouth, unfazed by the scalding heat that was not more than a little warm trickle down her tongue. She took a couple more bites before taping her lips with a napkin and returned to twirling the dish, playing with it "We did not seek him out nor he. It was unintentional really. The lad always seem to get in himself into matter he should not"

Karumo sipped his water as he watched and listened to Jet think, some strong sentiment towards the council of Sunagakure, or perhaps just to those aristocractic Daimyo in general. Either way, he couldn't fault her as he felt much in the same way he nodded and agree with her sentiment about them sticking to their treasures and hiding behind their wealth. Their conversation continued on though, about recent events in the clan. Jet shared a bit of her sentiment however none of the details were gotten into, and he would nod and thank her for her support, however her last bit was a more interesting detail. "But you our good sir, seem to walk a path not commonly taken. Just because you're taking things easy now doesn't mean you aren't being watched. You know that better than anyone don't you?" it was indeed a powerful thought and one he took caution to, the very idea of it like a warning in subtlety to him, but he couldn't help but crack a smile as his quip came to him. A small laugh and he quietly spoke, "Unique paths seem only good to keep my name in the mouths of those jealous wives and boasting men. Though I agree, being a ninja is certainly no easy task and the more we climb the ranks, the more our lives are put at risk."

Then the conversation switched gears to Jet's time in Kumo, she ignored Karumo's quip about Fukai and instead went into a more thorough reasoning of it all. A venture to seek out Nanashi, the man turned Sannin who had helped give both Karumo and Harichimo their first kill on a mission. He couldn't speak for Hari, but for Karumo, it was the first time he had ever killed anyone. Their food had arrived, Karumo followed her suit and thanked the chef once he set his bowl down and refilled his water. Karumo broke open his chopsticks the same as Jet and began to test the noodles while Jet spoke. The topic of Fukai came up, not seeing each other while in Kumo or anything, it was odd but he had to agree with her. Once she was done speaking, he would set his chopsticks down and take a sip of his water, "Nanashi, he's a good guy, he showed Harichimo and I the ropes and showed both of us our first kill while on a mission." he looked down at the noodles while he spoke.

"As for Fukai, I couldn't agree more." he said chuckling at the thought. "He can be like a newborn, crawling and getting into everything but his intentions are never bad and I'd like to think it could help from time to time." he thought back to the clan incident with Fukai showing up and saving Karumo from taking a bolt of lightning directly to his chest. Karumo took small bites here and there as he could, trying not to look like he was aiming to finish quickly or be rude but he also wanted to get it out of the way for the most part. "But, you didn't get a chance to see him compete in the exams arena or anything? Or any of the other matches for that matter?" he wondered as he would continue his to eat his meal.

Their conversation would continue on while they ate, Karumo focused on hurrying up and getting through his ramen. For some particular reason he had hoped to finish before Jet though it didn't truly matter. For all the reasons he was enjoying the conversation they were having, it was still the middle of the day and he had lots to prepare for, so once he found his moment and their conversation would be dying down he'd wipe his mouth with a napkin and set it down before leaning back. Politely Karumo would reach into his pocket as he spoke, "Well Jet, I've enjoyed our talk this afternoon but I should get back to work soon." he would take out plenty of ryo for the both of them and extra for the chef's tip and leave it on the counter. "This time lunch is on me, and about that spar we can talk about that next time. If you ever find yourself around the university pop in and say hello sometime..." he would say smiling and waving as he stood up and headed out of the shop. A final thank you to the cook before he took off, stopping for a second outside the shop then jumping up to the rooftops and heading back towards the university to continue working. Still so much paperwork for his squad to be done, and then the details of getting the together and testing to see what they've learned and know.

"First kill? Wow we can hardly remember our own. Seems almost another life time ago" Yet sighed remembering her past. She was surrounded by death all her life. Living in the slums, you would see people dying in the streets and it was no big thing. The two continued to converse until Karumo finished up his lunched and paid for them while Jet had taken her time and finished her sake. She nodded smiling saying that they would spar in earnest before performing a shushin and poofing out of existence. She would return home only to have Kira hop on her head with a scroll in hand. Damnit.
