The matches for the final tourney will take place inside of the Tailed Beast Temple that resides on Genbu. Once used for hosts of tailed beasts from Kumogakure to attempt to tame the creatures imprisoned within them, the temple now stands as a monument of strength and determination in recognition of shinobi of the past. The ring that participants is a raised 30mx30m square with a completely flat floor and no obstructions. The ring is bordered by a lowered 5m wide area of soft dirt.

The objective is simple, defeat your opponent in single combat by either incapacitating them or knocking them out of the ring. If at any point either participant lands outside of the ring they will forfeit the match and any further participation in the exams. Good Luck.

Maigo sat there in the waiting room for the tournament, the time for one on one combat had finally arrived. The pit in his stomach was gnarling at him, the butterflies in his stomach had evolved into full blown lions roaring at every change in sound and ever gust of wind from the door opening and closing. Sitting on the bench with his eyes closed and holding onto his sword inside it's sheathe, he sat with his head propped on top of the hilt and waiting for something to happen. He was so excited to get started and yet, he was betting everything that his name wouldn't be first on the list. Hoping for maybe a second or third match, one in the middle so people would be paying less attention at that point. But was that cowardly to hope people weren't watching as intensely to his match? And why did he care so much, if he messed up then it would be for the world to see and if he won then they would carry on and cheer for him all throughout the temple. The normal, happy-go lucky Maigo would be begging for people to be crowded around and watching his skills to be put to the test and yet, all he could think about was how nervous he was to get started. Maybe once I'm out there everything will sink back and fall into place, then I can treat it like any other fight I've been apart of. he thought to himself as his anxiety was slowly beginning to take over. Another gust of wind from the door opened and hit his neck, sending a chill down his spine, but he didn't open his eyes and he didn't move his head either. Maigo just sat there in solitude, calmly breathing and thinking, trying to reason with himself over what was about to happen.

A man stood in the doorway, in the official Kumogakure gear, holding a clipboard with some papers attached. He would look around at the contestants and see what they were doing before he would call out, Mugetsu, Maigo! he yelled out hoping someone's head would light up. You're name has been called first, it's time to take your place. he continued on waiting for someone to respond.

Maigo would stand up and open his eyes, sliding his sword back into the strap on his waist as he walked towards the proctor. Not saying a word yet he would keep his eyes mostly on the ground, watching his feet, growing more anxious with each step but it wasn't going to stop him. Not this easily. Once he reached the door about a foot away from the door and the proctor next to it, he would turn around and exclaim pointing towards the rest of the contestants, Fine! It's customary to save the best for last but if you want to have it all out now then so be it! and without even waiting for their reactions he would kick the door open behind him and spin his way out of it. The proctor began talking after he left, only assuming he called his competitor's name from there but he was going to wait til he got into the arena before he did anything else.

Exiting the door it was like a bright light took him over, instantly adjusting and looking around at the arena, he began to block out the noise and distractions, focusing purely on the stone slab and the proctor standing there and waiting for him. He continued walking up and approached the steps that led up to the arena taking each step one at a time, he could feel the weight of each step as he brought himself up. Exhaling deeply at the top of the steps, he stepped to the side and waiting for his opponent to get there as well he would look and observe him. He wouldn't spend much time looking him over, only noting that he was considerably shorter than Maigo instead, he would tilt his head towards him once he was at the top, I'm Maigo, best of luck to you! Hopefully we can have a fun match here above all else. he smiled and waited for a response from the boy.

Once he made his greeting and the proctor would show them to the opposite sides of the arena he would begin walking towards his end, separating the pair to the far ends of the arena. In his walk over he would feel his pouch and just double check that the few ninja tools he had on them were there, looking at the headband stitched to his jacket. He was about to represent Kirigakure no Sato at the largest scale he had before, smiling as he tightened the sash around his waist to hold his sword, he also messed with that on his walk over. The climax of his anxiety was upon him as he took his stance at the far end of the arena.

Turning towards his opponent and watching him, he exhaled and formed the half tiger seal and held it over his chest. Everything seemed to zoom out of focus and the distractions he was so worried about faded away as he bowed forward slightly and then looked towards his opponent. Holding the hand sign he watched as the proctor raised his hand in anticipation of announcing the match to start. He waited calmly, in less than a moment he would begin his battle, hopefully to bring him one step closer to becoming a chuunin and another step towards bringing up his reputation in Kirigakure.

The Build Up

The little boy was sitting on a bench in his shorts swinging his legs back and forth left foot front right foot back and then right foot front and left foot back. He was just being a bit of a kid for the few moments he had left, he knew it would at least be about an hour or two before the fight began as he had prepared. He checked out the sheet as he was marked off as the eighth seed of the tournament. No one was expecting him to win and some people started speaking about how the first match is always a downer due to the gap in skills that was usually the case in these tournaments. It was quite often in tournaments that the first round would be between the first seed and the last seed, he just had one problem. Who was this Mugetsu Maigo as he had wanted to get information before hand, but was told that information on the participants was being kept secret which was in a way good for him. He was glad to see that Sakumi made it through to the next round, but he was a bit worried that he knew nothing about the rest of the participants. He knew he should have gotten some training done but the time after he had successfully passed required him to rest for those few days, due to the minor cuts, scratches and bruises from his first round which had just about healed by now.

The Preparation

He was getting a bit nervous, but mostly from sitting around. He had to start getting ready as he put on some basic ordinary clothes like a loose white shirt with a cloud symbol on the front and a dark blue shorts with nothing particular about it. He also had on some sandals that served no other purpose then to be on his feet. However after swinging his feet back and forth the sandals annoyed him so he kicked them off and just leaned back and sighed. He was now laying on his back lazily as he thought back to how he prepared his gear for this battle.

He had packed all ten of his arrows carefully into his backpack as he needed them to be ready for the potential of long range combat as he checked each arrow. While not the best quality of arrows they served their purpose as a way to set up the area for his techniques. He then took his time to seal his flash bomb inside his left wrist bracelet for use in his first official match with spectators watching him this time. He then sealed a metsubishi with a smokebomb in his right wrist bracelet since they existed as a pair. He then raised both of his feet and just let a minor amount of chakra flow through them to see the condition of his seals on his feet, he tested the right foot first and then the left foot and smiled a bit to himself as they were in good condition for this fight.

He carefully placed three shuriken inside his forehead protected and proceeded to tie the forehead protector around his right shoulder for easy access and because he wanted his hair to flow freely in this battle. He adjusted his goggles and cleaned them in the water a few times as he needed to use them since this was going to be a bit more serious, he was representing his village not only as their only participant but also he was the eighth seed. The odds were against them so he was coming into this home ground advantage as a challenger.

He placed his main kunai in the left pocket of the shorts and placed a special kunai in his right pocket. He then had four special kunai carefully tied on the inside of the backpack against the spot that would be against his back. He then placed two of the other special kunai freely in the backpack and the last three he decided to place one on the right of the backpack, one on the left and the last one on top of the backpack. He also had five scrolls which he slotted into the backpack in various locations for easy access.

He then put several of the senbon all loosely inside the backpack since they did not serve much purpose other then as a distraction. He had only used about one foot of wire and proceeded to set up the string so that there would be two wires of twenty nine and thirty feet attached to his kusarigama. He finally used the remaining wire on one of his arrows. Meanwhile he then proceeded to get ready. He placed the backpack on his back and felt the weight and skipped for a bit just to get used to it before taking it off again. He picked up his kusarigama and carefully wrapped a portion of it around his waste and just carefully used the one wire to prop up the weight while the main part was held firmly in his right hand with his wrist bracelets now on he put the backpack on again. He then sealed metsubishi into three of his special kunai for later use. With the remaining six all carefully placed inside his backpack. He used the wire in the backpack to tie the bow at the back of the backpack carefully then he carefully slotted his Katana at a twenty degree tilt in his backpack as he made a temporary hole to accommodate it, followed by his wakizashi being nearly horizontal at a sixty five degree angle so that he would be able to pull it out easily if the time came.

He took a deep breathe before placing his goggles on his head as he finally heard them call out the name of his opponent as he woke up from his daydream.

The Entrance

The man called out to his opponent as the boy now left his locker room to get a look at his opponent as he stumbled slightly building up his balance so that he would be able to fight unhindered once they entered the arena.
He watched a strange and rather weird looking guy get up sliding a sword into the strap on his waist. He was a bit shocked, but he also felt a bit worried. They entering battle and his opponent only brought a single sword to face him.

He then heard the guy proclaim that the first match would be the best match and something about going all out which was a given. Also sounded like his opponent did not even know he was first seed, was that genuine surprise or was this Maigo already setting him up with a mental trap.

The boy heard his name now called, "Lane, Elin of Kumogakure." as he walked onwards to the arena as the proctor whispered into his ear while rubbing his hair when no one was looking. "Go get him kid, everyone in the village is rooting for you to kick this punks ass."

The small boy who was not all that young was scurrying along as he adjusted so that his bag would stop making so many jingling sounds from all his gear. Had he not been well trained the weight of his gear would have probably defeated him, as well as stairs being no match for someone who climbs mountains that can reach the clouds.

As he got next to his opponent he heard the guy wish him the best of luck and that they should have a good match as he looked down to the small boy. He looked down for a second blushing before looking up to his opponent slowly with a genuine smile. "Sorry, but I have to beat you. So take me seriously or I will kill you" as he was speaking a bit tough, however he was a bit shaky and his eyes were beginning to build up a bit of water too. He was definitely nervous still and there was a lot of pressure on him, his opponent would probably see through this tough act. However he at least said yes to having a good match in his own weird confusing way.

The Beginning

With greetings out of the way and each of them proceeding to their corners the boy now held out his scythe edge of his main weapon to his front and then took one special kunai and held it in his left hand as he looked down before shaking his head a bit to get the goggles to slide down over his eyes before adjusting it with his left hand while holding the special kunai showing great dexterity.

His mind formulated a plan as he had scanned the arena quickly noting its size and hearing the victory conditions the seals beneath his feet were aching to be released as they would now be close to twenty meters apart with just five meters behind each of them. This was not the best starting position for either, but the examiners probably felt they should have some room to start up their attack or prepare themselves to defend. Either way it was time for battle

Maigo held the seal of confrontation as he awaited his opponent to prepare himself as well, he held the seal waiting for his opponent to do so as well but instead he went and grabbed his kusarigama and held the scythe edge in his hand. Fine Maigo thought to himself, As much talk about taking you seriously and he's not even gonna follow along and try to play this cleanly in the end. he thought as his attention turned towards the proctor who now held his hand in the air and looked towards both contestants. Are you both ready? he asked as he looked towards Maigo and Elin on each end, Maigo would nod back and hold the Seal of Confrontation over his chest, once Elin would mark himself as ready the proctor would look forward towards the crowd in front of him. Go! he would yell and let his hand fall quickly to mark the start of their match. It was in that moment as Maigo watched the proctor's hand drop that his seal forming the hand tightened, he watched as the hand hit it's lowest point and would be drawn back.

Maigo weighed drawing his sword with it sitting right there on his waist, it would take less than a second and he could go to fighting him with his scythe much more effectively, but he had a different game plan in mind. He also debated activating his sharingan, but decided to save that for when he needed it, no reason to give away power or techniques without a reason to. Instead he grabbed the shuriken out of his pouch hidden on the left side of his jacket, and held onto the edge of his blade, making sure it stayed in it's easy to grab position while he pulled the three shuriken into his hands. Beginning to run forward he would bring the shuriken into his hand and let them fly forward as he made his steps, letting go of them after he closed the distance to 18 meters, keeping his eyes on Elin and his movements while letting them go. He would try to get them to follow his initial movement and force him to respond to the three shuriken that would be heading straight for him.

Now gaining speed, Maigo would form the rat seal while running, quickly gaining speed, and then when they reached about 12 meters apart, his eyes following him still and keeping an eye on his weapons. He would glance downwards and double check his sword still there and then turning his full attention back towards Elin. Once he had him in range he would cast the Hell-viewing technique on Elin, letting his deepest fear manifest before his very eyes. Though it would remain unbeknownst to Maigo while he would wait for it to begin to take affect on his opponent. Elin would have to make a choice to avoid the shuriken and take on the genjutsu, or to take the shuriken and try to avoid the genjutsu, though he wasn't sure if there was even a way to avoid it in such a small space.

Maigo's eyes would steadily watch him, marking any changes he could see in his opponent, the intensity of the battle about to rage on between the two genin. To other shinobi their battle may look calm and like not much could happen, given that even their best techniques couldn't really kill each other. But to the two of them, this would be a fight that would rage on, pushing both of them to their limits and testing their battle intuition and skills. Once the genjutsu was cast Maigo would draw his sword and wait for the pause in Elin before he made the next move in his plan, and once he was sure he found his opponent in the genjutsu he would begin to funnel chakra into his blade.

Then with two powerful swings, one right after the other, he would release two six foot arcs of chakra headed straight towards Elin once he could see that Elin was clearly in the genjutsu, if he was in the genjutsu. At their distance it wouldn't be long before both arcs, traveling in the shape of an 'X' would reach Elin and hit him straight on. It was actually the first time Maigo would be using this technique in a real fight, putting all his effort and a large amount of chakra into the swing he knew it would get there extremely quickly and do just as much damage as if he had cut him with his own sword. Except with this he could keep his distance from his Kusarigama until he figured out how effective he was with it and what he could do with it.

Now he would put his plan into action and watch Elin try to deal with each obstacle while he kept moving and kept everything in his plan moving quickly and efficiently.

It took him a while to recognise that Maigo was not actually using at attack seal, but the seal for confrontation as his opponent seemed to be looking at him for quite some time. The proctor raised his hand and asked if they were ready as Maigo nodded to the proctor as the small boy placed his kunai away for a moment and said softly, but clearly. "wait"

He put his scythe edge on his shoulder and then made the seal of confrontation as well as he looked down. "sorry about that." As he apologized while the proctor could respect being polite, they were not from the same village so it was not really necessary. The boy looked a bit worried as he took a deep breathe as the proctor waited for him to be ready as the boy got back into his previous stance with the special kunai back in his left hand and the scythe edge sliding off his shoulder and back into his right hand held in front of him.

He then began to think of the time he had spent at the academy as he thought back to his instructor who had scolded him countless times that he should not hold back and should always show respect for his opponents. He had grown to fear her as well as respect her out of admiration of her methods of teaching, she however went missing some time during his injury that had led to his career being cut short. He had become a genin at age seven which while not impossible was an extremely uncommon occurrence within the shinobi world only for him to suffer that day as he spent his days in the hospital.

He had learnt the seal of confrontation in his academy days, but had rarely seen it outside of the academy due to people being in a rush to just rather fight instead of being polite. He also knew that he had to stretch before hand and had done so in preparation of this battle so his body would not be too stiff, while at the same time keeping just enough tension to focus which was brought about by his nervousness. A nervous tension that was forcing him to remain focused as he had no idea what his opponent could do and would have to test out his opponent with the best attack he had.

He had learnt the power of initiative and even when waiting for your opponent to attack you had to strike first when they made the first move. It was normally a difficult task, but it also came down to the actions of the opponents as it was best to save evasion for the last moment rather then moving around giving away your movement styles and quirks. It would not be long before the battle before him would begin as he knew he would not have a chance to relax once the battle began.

He had taken the time he was being polite as an extra few moments of time to formulate several plans in which to learn the intentions of his unknown opponent as well as beating his opponent down before giving him a chance to find out the small boy's current weakness. A flaw that very few knew about other than Ameryuu the girl closest to him, Sakumi the girl who had begun to eat her way into his heart, Etsuo the Puppet Master who had also shown him his first kekkei genkai as well as Skye who had helped him to master the art of Onojutsu in order to wield his custom made weapon the Kusarigama. Not to mention the master who he had not even met, the one who would soon be his squad leader, the infamous Kenji Chikara who was surely going to watch this fight

This was not just for himself, or for the girl he loved, or even the village itself. This was about proving himself to the world and honouring his opponent with a fight that was fair in the sense that he would hold nothing back as he became tense. The wind would blow harmlessly, as this was normally a sign of a close encounter about to begin. It was time for the talking to end, the preparations were done. All they could do now is fight.

The proctor would give out a light sigh before raising his hand and shouting "Go!" as the man dropped his hand signalling the start of this first battle of the day as they would set the pace for the matches to come

The battle had begun as the scythe began to glow white as he thrust it forward as it flew out of his hand leaving a white trail as he dashed forwards as his opponent Maigo decided to start off with three shuriken as the head of the scythe deflected all the shuriken as if they were paper weights.

As he dashed forward in order to get within full range for his weapons long range assault. The direct attack from the shuriken meant nothing to the attack he was going to unleash with his kusarigama. He was not sure what technique his opponent was planning with the rat seal but there would be no time for that to go any further as the weapon was finally in range when both of them were around fifteen meters apart. His opponent would have to react as the weapon moved at around twenty meters per second closing the gap in less than a second.

His opponent could take the attack head on having the scythe slice his chest and wedge into his elbow which was the main target. He would then use that to allow him to get the scythe further passed and wedge into his opponents back and fling him out of the ring.

However his opponent would surely not take his attack this lightly and neither would he. If his opponent attempted to dodge he would redirect the weapon directly at him preventing this form of evasion. If the opponent went up the blade would go beneath him and possibly pierce deep into the hole in a sense paying tribute to a thousand years of pain, a secret taijutsu technique where by the user pierces the opponents butt with his two fingers. The opponent could attempt to go to the sides but this would lead to the scythe edge gripping him and following the same motion as before to toss his opponent out the ring.

His opponent could attempt to duck in which case the blade would land on top of his opponent piercing his spine back or shoulder allowing him not a firm grip but it would be enough to deal considerable damage. However there was yet another option his opponent could take which would be to draw that sword of his and give up his attempted technique or maybe he would use an actual ninjutsu to knock back his weapon as it was not really clear what he would be using the rat seal for. If his opponent chose to block his scythe he would use his technique to whirl it around the weapon and stab his opponent inbetween his ribs before ripping it to the side to pull his opponent to the side and later wedge the blade even deeper into his opponents side.

He was not just attacking without reason though, if his opponent should manage an offensive he would be prepared to defend himself, in the case of weapon based techniques he would use his weapon defense if needed. He would also hit away any stray minor objects with the kunai still positioned in the one free hand that he had which he would unseal the metsubishi within and toss the kunai with the metsubishi at his opponent if his opponent's movements became disrupted by the weapon based exchange or if his opponent stopped moving for whatever reason.

In order to ensure the metsubishi takes effect it would be aim at his own weapon to ensure it breaks leaving a puff of shavings and dust which could cause irritations to his opponents eyes. He had a special weapon style defense technique which would be able to shield him should his opponent have any offensive techniques directed at him.

The arena was large, plenty of room to move around yet it wouldn't be too big for him to cast most of his genjutsu. And with nothing in the way it seemed that there wouldn't be much hiding, no other elements he would have to worry about outside of the direct combat he would be facing. That wouldn't be an extreme problem, he knew that he could handle any genin and even some chuunin in direct combat, so the direct threats would come from any ninjutsu or other jutsu he could use. The two stood seperated apart and the judge went ahead and released the signal to go, the moments thereafter could be described from Maigo's viewpoint as pure adrenaline and silence. As if the rest of the world had faded out, it would be a quick decision for him, standing there for a moment he grabbed his three shuriken and tossed them forward towards Elin. His eyes watched as his weapon, his scythe tied to a chain had begun to glow white and fly forwards, moving at speeds he had seem some ninjutsu. Elin himself ran forward as well, a white trail from where he tossed the scythe formed, he wouldn't have long to react to the initial movements. The sound of the audience and the things happened around him were still dead as he took his first step forward, the scythe being thrown forward from Elin in response to his shuriken. He had only a moment to watch what the purpose of throwing his weapon forward and how he was going to respond to the shuriken.

Maigo took his first few steps forward and formed the rat hand sign, anticipating the shuriken to distract him enough to give him time to cast one of his own techniques. But he watched the scythe flying forward towards him, and suddenly it varied for a second to block each of the shuriken, it only had to stop for a fraction of a second to deflect each of them, and it nearly kept it speed blocking each of them as if it were nothing. Then the scythe continued on towards Maigo, he had watched it happen and immediately knew that his urgency in movement had jumped up, and that he had to act quickly in order to stay alive. Maigo would release the rat seal and come to a halt as quickly as he could, the scythe began to speed back up towards him, headed straight for his body. He quickly changed direction and began to hop backwards, remembering that he was only 8 or so feet from the edge of the arena and at the same time began to funnel chakra into his eyes. Red eyes and a single black tomoe in each eye would take over almost instantly as the world began to slow down around him and his reaction time increased.

The scythe that was headed quickly for him left him no choice, with a weapon moving that quickly and headed straight towards him he knew that he needed to clear the line of its trajectory. But with him controlling it at a distance so easily like he did, like a Kugutsu user would one of his puppets he knew that it wouldn't be so easy to avoid it. Especially since it seemed that he could control it so fluently like he had, he did wonder however how fluent he was able to control it. He wondered how quickly he could turn it or what the power of it was in its turning radius, and that gave him a bit of an idea. He gripped his sword with his right hand and drew it forward now waiting for his scythe to head towards him, a look of confidence over-took him for a moment as he exhaled outward and gathered his composure. He knew now of all times was when to avoid freaking out, and at the very least, the worst that could happen is that he could potentially lose the match by making some mistake.

Maigo mad his small steps backward, his scythe had been moving so quickly, and it suddenly slowed down once it reached about 40 feet from Elin, he wondered if that was its max range that it could move away from him. It slowed down to the speed that Elin was running at, which was still fairly quick, holding his sword out he set it up to block it at a diagonal and deflect it to the side. From there, he would run at a 45 degree angle to the side away from the direction he had blocked the scythe. His eyes keeping an eye on and honing in on Elin, he knew that he probably could have taken his angle away from the scythe's edge but he had to act quickly before Elin realized what he was doing and could get his scythe to respond back.

As he ran at his angle, he funneled chakra into his blade and began to make a wide, sweeping arc from his feet to his head while he was running, releasing a large crescent of chakra forward, and then another wide arc after that to create a second crescent of chakra. Both crescents aimed for Elin or to whatever direction Elin was moving in, he intended to have him draw his scythe back to himself to defend against his attack or they would both swap hits from each other. The crescents would burst forth to life, displacing the air around them in bright-white arcs of chakra, they would be hard to miss and that was the point, he wanted to turn Elin's attention to addressing the crescents and less on attacking Maigo.

He could feel the adrenaline of the battle already, the use of chakra to create his crescents and his mind racing to address each and every little detail. He was glad he had sparred so much with his squad and sensei, it was the perfect practice for the chuunin exams and now he would get to show a little bit of his skill off. Once both crescents were under-way and headed towards Elin, both of them moving at incredible speeds just like Elin's jutsu, Maigo would turn his Sharingan and his attention back towards where the scythe was. Letting his feet slid, crouching down to lower the target area that Elin's scythe had to hit and bringing his sword out in front of him all in one sliding motion. He hoped to defend further against the scythe if Elin had decided to try and ignore the crescents, looking to possibly avoid or block the initial strike from it and then start to strategize where to go from there.

If Elin had decided to bring the scythe back to him and defend himself he would check for the scythe still being there, and then turn his attention to Elin completely, giving him a second to deal with the crescents in whatever manner he could or saw fit. From there, once he was sure that Elin had exhausted his moves against the clones or the crescents had hit him, he would weave a few handsigns (Rat-> Snake-> Bird-> Monkey) and then would aim to cast his deceitful clone jutsu on Elin and then hiding out of view and away from the action while he debated his next strategy and how he would continue from there.

The boy had managed to easily dispatch of the somewhat useless shuriken when his opponent decided to reveal something he had seen before, a technique that would change the course of this battle greatly as his opponent's eyes changed to a red colour he knew all too well. The extra pupil and the unique look of the eyes themselves were the rare, but powerful Sharingan. As his weapon was on course for its target his opponent probably began to understand the technique at the time and realised the movement capabilities of the technique would make evasion near impossible and even blocking the attack would be risky.

Whether his opponent figured it out on his own or whether it was all the sharingan would be hard to tell without getting further into the fight. However with only one pupil in each eye he knew at the very least it was just a basic sharingan and not something he would need to take too much note of as he still did not have a good grasp on his opponent's ability since his opponent got interrupted as he watched his opponent deflect his weapon for a moment.

He followed up with his attack only for his opponent to take a back step requiring him to close in on his opponent a bit more before watching his opponent aiming an attack to counter. With little knowledge of his opponent and the suspicious nature of the attack he could not be too hasty as he began pulling his weapon back a bit as an attack was released as he dashed to the side in order to avoid the technique as his weapon also got pulled somewhat to the side getting him closer to the center of the ring. The X-shaped attack had managed to cut off some of his hair and nearly managed to hit his right leg as he was sidestepping in the direction. There was a bit of sweat as he had a look of awe that was not a sign of fear, but a look of excitement as he focused in on his opponent as he finally was ready to attack again.

He realised at the time that attack was risky for both sides as with a trade of skills both of them could have landed their hits, but he was not really known for his endurance so that would have been more in favour of his opponent as he began formulating plans as he tossed his weapon forth to attack his opponent who seemed a bit different. As he launched his weapon towards his opponent as it would home in on the location how would his opponent respond to the gap in speed. Would he use the same technique or something similar or attempt to deflect it again. Either way his option had changed to his opponent deflecting would be followed up by a chained combo however things would not turn out as planned as he soon would find out.

If anything strange happened he would pull back his weapon and whirl it around him in a defensive stance.

Maigo made his deflection, blocking Elin's scythe and then pushing it away from him, heading off to Elin's right side and then unleashing his two Chakra Crescents, both of them intent on cutting Elin off on his original path, a few feet ahead of where he was currently running. Maigo did not stop moving once he released his crescents however, trying to further the distance he was gaining on Elin's scythe in case he decided to throw it towards him in an attempt to trade blows. He watched, still moving around in an arc path around Elin, as he himself side-stepped the crescents avoiding any immediate damage to himself, but he neglected the presence of the string on his weapon. Both crescents still aimed right for the white glow, the crescents would cut through and disarm the weapon from his person if they were able to penetrate through the chakra.

Not wasting anytime to see if his attack would work, his opponent still gathering himself and waiting to make his move he began to weave his signs and casted his Illusion Clone technique. With Elin focused on trying to avoid the crescents and controlling his scythe, it would be relatively easy for him to fade away from his clone without him noticing. He would give it a second to capture his surroundings, debating how he would manipulate his control of the clone. A rather simple and yet incredibly complex technique, he simple placed a genjutsu of a clone on his opponent, then his will would constantly shift the clone around in his opponents mind giving the illusion that he was still around. And in some sense, he was as the clone was a copy of himself, it would act on his will and could do everything he could besides perform jutsu. So in some twisted sense, there were two Maigo's on the ring, but it would only be two to one person, everyone else in the crowds would watch as Elin would focus on something else entirely.

Maigo knew his first move with the clone would be to draw Elin's attention away from his real self. He was crouched as he finished his hadnsigns and let the illusion set in, once it was cast and he was sure of it he would have his clone draw the sword and charge straight for Elin, or give chase to where he was headed. Intent on pressuring him and forcing him to take up another kunai or possibly burn through some chakra as he pressed his attack. Nothing more than a few simple stabbing and slashing motions, he wouldn't attempt much to hide his motions and would attack wildly, plenty of chances for Elin to discover the true nature of his technique. In the meantime, while his clone would be going after Elin, Maigo would do his best to sneak over to Elin's scythe and remove it from the battlefield.

Playing his movement overly cautious, if Elin so much as turned his attention towards grabbing or going for his scythe then Maigo would stop and back away and re-space himself to stay out of the range of his weapon. So his goal would be to remove Elin's weapon from the battlefield since he was able to disarm it from him already and if he were unable to do that much, he would keep his distance from Elin entirely until he found an opening to attack. He had already gone through a good bit of chakra but he was glad he could press Elin so quickly, not wasting any of it on any unneeded moves and not giving anything away any sooner than he had to.

Having essentially disarmed him he would keep his distance and wait for his opening to get rid of the scythe or if he couldn't safely do that then he would wait and try to keep himself as far from Elin as he could while he would bide his time waiting for an opening.

Due to divine intervention or the will of the God's a massive wind blew the wire further to his right causing it to clash with the X-crescent attack launched by his opponent. Perhaps it was a prediction of the sharingan or just poor luck however this did not disrupt his momentum too much as the knock on the wire caused his weapon to pull back a bit faster as he let the wire slide through his hand before he caught the rod portion of his kasarigama with his right hand leaving the wire to sway freely in the air. His technique was dispelled, but due to the nature of the technique his weapon was undamaged as well as the wire which served no other purpose now than to flow in the air.

During that time as he looked on his opponent was weaving hand signs again, he wanted to interrupt his opponent, but found it might be better to let his opponent burn out his chakra reserves rather then try to match his opponent move for move. He had only revealed his most basic technique, not his best technique. Though this would make using other combinations more difficult in the future. He was not sure as the technique ended but for some reason he thought he saw his opponent fade out, however he figured that must have either been him seeing things or his opponent has hit him with a technique this time.

He watched to see if his opponent would do anything as he then charged chakra into his right bracelet that would leave a faint three meter aura to those who could see chakra, however he was certain that the sharingan was not that powerful being only a one tomoe sharingan as he had met a previous sharingan user before, but at the very least his opponent would be a nuisance if he tried a high speed assault carelessly. Waiting this time as he had his kusarigama now firmly in his right hand and his kunai still being held in his left hand as if he might never get a chance to use it as he began to wonder if he might end up holding it for the entire fight. However his right hand was not bound to holding his weapon any longer so his options in the fight grew from this interaction

His opponent drew his sword and made his way to start attacking him wildly as he simply blocked however the block did not react to it the way in which he expected it to, besides the one fact that bothered him more then anything else. This Maigo did not exist as he did not feel any displacement of chakra which meant this clone did not exist. His opponent finally revealed his hand, his opponent was a genjutsu user.

This was however annoying as he felt as if getting hit by this clone might at the very least bother him, since he has not taken a direct hit once from his opponent, even if its an illusion he would not just slack off either. He would deflect and parry the wild strikes followed by a random hit from his weighted portion of the scythe while his rod portion had the sword busy. As he thought the Maigo died, and then it just reappeared roughly five meters away from the location and continued to attack him. This was a rather annoying situation, but he had no other choice, he had to deal with the annoyance until it wore off. Also his opponent might make a mistake since right now he was now free to use his real jutsu, but his opponent seemed to be keeping their distance. Was he trying to just buy himself some time knowing that Elin still had another technique available to him, the fact that he had not even revealed any of his real arsenal yet was actual something he was trained to do in order to avoid giving away valuable information to the enemy. It was at this time that the true battle would begin.

With Elin near the center and the attack of the illusion to the current location of Maigo who was last seen near the edge of the arena. Was his opponent closing in on him, or was this all just a trap for another illusion. Only time would tell as he would focus very carefully all around him.

His crescent made contact with the wire of his opponent's weapon, but instead of cutting it, the weapon fell to the floor while Maigo made his handsigns. Elin began to pull his weapon back to him, catching it in his hand as Maigo's real person slipped from existence and he cast his genjutsu on him. Elin stood at the very center of the arena, the apex of the action, if only Maigo had some ninjutsu then he might have been able to make a press there, but instead he had to buy his time and let his genjutsu go to work in fatiguing his opponent and buying him an opening to strike. Maigo had his clone run to the left as Maigo himself slipped off to the right in order to take full stock of the situation.

Maigo's clone would engage Elin tirelessly, any hit he could make would be felt fully within the genjutsu, as he maneuvered around. He knew that someone with a skilled perception could easily start to make out Maigo's movements and track him to some degree, and those at the jounin level would see right through the ruse he created. But Elin being only a genin he didn't imagine that he would pick it apart, not all at once at least, and so the clone would press on while it could and at every chance it would get, it would aim for some strike. Elin remained near the middle as Maigo circled around to the right and tried to close the distance, making it to the center of the edge to his right, about 5 meters away from the edge, he would do his best to keep that 5 meter distance from the edge of the arena as he would circle around and remain behind Elin while keeping his distance. He tightened his grip on his sword, thinking of his movement and how he was going to strike, he had to be quick and strike with authority and clarity. This was a golden opportunity for him, to have his opponent stuck fighting the illusion of himself, never dying and never tiring. But at the very least, even if he can't get a good hit out of this, the fatigue Elin would face in dealing with the illusion would be damage enough for him to confidently move forward.

Maigo would let them fight on for another moment or so while he waited for his opening, letting Elin kill his clone version two more times, or waiting til the clone is able to implement two more cuts with his sword in the illusion world. Once he was sure that the jutsu had tired them out enough, or that enough was being done to distract him, Maigo would have his clone make a last ditch effort, swinging his sword wildly to push Elin on a defensive and begin to distract him, keep him busy enough not to hear any delayed footsteps approaching from behind him. He hoped that the clone would be able to drive Elin backwards from the center a few steps, but if not that would be fine. Maigo would charge forward towards the rear of Elin, gaining speed as quickly as he could sword drawn and ready to strike. Pushing forward, he would keep Elin slightly to his right, running slightly to the left of Elin, he would let his sword lag behind, preparing to swing it in full burst and unleash a punishing blow.

Once he was in range, constantly running forward towards the rear of Elin, he would unleash a swing at the back of Elin's right calf, aimed for right above his Achilles tendon. His sharingan locked onto him, he would be sure to watch for any counters or sudden turns in Elin's posture. If Elin were to counter, swing his scythe or kunai around or maybe figure out Maigo and try to kick behind him, Maigo would aim to chop the back of either arm or leg leading the attack and then attempt to parry the attack if it were to keep coming after he made his move. In the case that Elin just turned his whole body before Maigo could act, Maigo would aim his katana to slash completely across Elin's body, in all cases aiming to cut as widly and deeply as he could where he would make contact.

After he made his first cut, he would fixate his eyes upon Elin, taking note of his weapons and either working his way to defending against them or to strike again if the opening should present itself. One slash would give way to more, aiming to make at least 3 attempts or passes with his sword before working to create distance between the pair again. He would have to be mindful though, Elin had already displayed some interesting bukijutsu techniques, and though his sharingan gave him a boost to his ability to react, a planned technique that is well timed would be tough to avoid.

He still was not sure why Maigo's clone chose to move to the left and not just straight ahead, no matter which way it went Maigo was either staying still, moving right, moving left or moving straight for him. No matter what the choice must have had some other deeper meaning as he mainly aimed to hold his ground to begin with having been engaged by the clone.

Deflecting and countering a clone who pretty much fought as good as the real Maigo supposedly since Elin had already reached the peak of what he could do with weapons as a genin. The clone would not be able to get in a decent hit with just a sword against a kusarigama, not to mention the extra weaponry on standby. He really was unsure of how to react as he unsealed his metsubishi from his special kunai in order to prepare for a counter attack. He began to wonder when Maigo was actually planning to go for him, since fighting an illusion was surely just wasting time. That was it, time was being wasted so Maigo must be going for a battle of attrition. However his opponent must be waiting for an opening as Elin began dodging a few seemingly random strikes from the clone as he kept his guard up, with no sign of the real Maigo yet.

The first kill of the clone had made an impression that this tactic was definitely aimed at being a decoy, however the clone seemed to be fighting more skillfully the second time around indicating that this illusion had some form of will to go on and was not just some basic genjutsu either. He began to wonder if this was an attempt to tire him out since he was expecting his opponent to attack him already. He began to think this was getting a bit boring as he just ended up repeating the same thoughts after eachother.

After some time the clone blocked the kusarigama and managed to avoid taking a second killing blow from the kusarigama weight, but a direct hit from the kunai in his left hand ended it, but in the end he knew it would all just start all over again, it was as if his opponent wanted to tire him out both mentally and physically. Though for the most part he was getting a bit excited as his body seemed to be shaking even though his movements were still solid and good.

Then the clone's movements changed completely as it charged recklessly to him as he changed his tactic and deflected the blow with a skilful parry even against a clone he had to show some effort and it was at that time he felt it, there was no time to think about it he had his tactic prepared from the moment his opponent came into range for the attack which must have been a slash like motion due to the displacement of chakra upon his opponent entering the circle, in order to avoid it he jumped forward, but dropped a surprise that would only be visible at the last moment. As he dropped his metsubishi between him and Maigo letting it hit the ground just as his foot passed over it to reveal the item as it exploded into a small dust cloud of shards and sharp burning spices to harm the eyes of his opponent who could probably still close his eyes to avoid the full effects of this.

However this trap all depended on his opponent trying to close in on him as he learnt that it was best to use your body to hide an attack when fighting a sharingan user. He would keep just within range of his sensory in order to counter attack if his opponent did not back away immediately as the distance he made between them was to allow him a chance to turn his focus as he would then kick the clone back before facing his opponent hidden within the dust.

If his opponent was hit with the technique he would charge in and evade his opponents counter attack since sharingan was helpless when your sight is hindered. However in case of his opponent's counter he had a second counter which he would use only if forced to. The kunai was also dropped as well to provide an obstacle if his opponent had chosen to dash at him blindly for an early attack causing his opponent to trip and giving him a wide opening. His main objective was to land an attack across the chest of his opponent even if it would not win, the little bit of blood he could get off his opponent would render his current stealth tactic rather useless. This would be his chance to use his sword as his slash would be with his left hand as he would give less focus to the illusion which did not have priority right now. His main objective was the opponent who could really harm him and not the illusion of that.

Even if it did not get a full on hit he had enough time to parry or counter attack any blow his opponent could think of, unless he had a secret technique up his sleeve. Either way Elin was going to keep this fight simple rather than play Maigo's game of complexity.

Maigo charged in at full speed towards Elin, he moved just after Elin had dissipated his clone for a second time. He picked up speed as quickly as his body would allow him and would draw back his sword to make a swipe at Elin's legs as quickly as he could. Planning an almost hit and run attack, but as he closed the distance, and his clone should have been beginning to reform, Elin stepped forward and dodged his initial strike. He wasn't sure what had happened, as his slash was so close to hitting him, and yet so far he wondered if he had given himself away, he didn't know if his feet were loud on the approach, or perhaps Elin had an incredibly high perception? Then there was the possibility of a sensory technique which meant Maigo needed to keep testing him to see what the deal really was.

He changed his tactic from a simple hit and run and more into a full fledged assault, he refused to take his steps back and instead kept running towards Elin at nearly full speed. His slash was so close to hitting, he knew he only had to take a few more steps to close the gap and guarantee that he could land his blow. It was as he brought his sword back across his body that he noticed a small black ball began to fall at Elin's feet. He didn't instinctually know what it was, maybe a smoke bomb or something of the sorts, which meant Elin was trying to escape and cover his tracks for a moment. Maigo knew that if he allowed him to get out of the position he was in then it would set him back much further than he hoped to go. So he continued on, not stopping to recount himself or to watch what Elin was going to do next, he pushed his muscles to the absolute limits he burst forward as the small ball burst into life.

Meanwhile, the clone of his would position himself in front of Elin, in order to cut off his forward jump, and then charge at him with the sword leading in front of him. The clone intent to stab him straight through if he should ignore it, or at the very least stab Elin somewhere. Maigo would know that the attack was merely of the mind, but while Elin is in the genjutsu, the pain would be as real as anything else he could imagine and that might be enough to unbalance him even further.

So Maigo used every inch of his muscle to burst forward towards Elin and over the powder ball, timing another slash at the back of Elin's achilles again. The powder quickly rising, he locked onto his target with his sharingan and made his slash, closing his eyes as quickly as he could after to avoid the irritating dust cloud that Elin had dropped. He didn't know what the cloud consisted of but it certainly wasn't just a smoke bomb.

After Maigo made his attack and the clone began to close in on Elin, he would use his arm to cover his eyes and jump back as far as he could. Two jumps directly backwards to clear himself of the powder and hopefully regain his standing in the arena and with his opponent, his eye beginning to burn like he had fallen face first into sand. Once he made his jumps backwards he quickly rubbed his eyes to clear them of the powder and irritably looked out upon the arena and would begin to take the measure of the arena.

His opponent completely insulted him as his opponent charged forward with an increase in speed he felt from the increase in rate of displacement as the clone attempted to stab him straight through the chest while the real one tried to come from behind him while passing through his attack without proper preparation and even with a sharingan he would not have a clear target as he was a bit disappointed his opponent did not attempt to avoid his item altogether as he pulled back now with a free hand as he would deflect the attack by the clone with the main portion of his scythe as he pulled back to allow him to spin in mid air as he pulled his foot higher from the intended target area as he let the weighted portion of his kusarigama fly as fast as it could towards the throat of his opponent whose vision was most likely disrupted by the metsubishi from earlier.

His opponent had misread the situation though as the metsubishi was not meant to slow him down, but remove the opponent's advantage completely. Pulling up his leg before landing to delay it was not impossible but it did leave him with a bit of air time to deal with, however his opponent could possibly hit his forehead against the weight or even his chest depending on his actions but his opponent did not seem to be slowing down. He had the reach advantage while his opponents main advantage was stealth and the ability to see through any attack directly before him.

However the metsubishi was a counter for both of those that his opponent seemed to be taking too lightly, he would have preferred to dash out of the way completely but he sadly was not that reactive that he could deal with this in a better manner. The metsubishi consisted of various components which included iron shavings which could potentially affect the light in the area besides making a metal sound, the powdered glass might have a similar effect and would be dangerous to have moving around in his eyes, while the ash would have a similar effect along with the chilli burning his opponents eyes.

The main question now was whether his opponent would attempt to trade blows with lack of clear vision since the sensory technique gave him a huge advantage in close combat and a slight adjustment if his opponent attempted to dodge was also possible too. The bigger question would be why his opponent would charge head on knowing his opponent has a trap waiting for them, why not pull back sooner or try to circle around and attack again from a more advantageous position. His opponent was rushing this fight for some unknown reason but it was clear that things would be heated up after here.

His opponents attack was now off target while his opponent had to blindly avoid his weapon after dashing so quickly into this fight, how would his opponent deal with this situation

OOC Comment : The metsubishi exploding and hitting you means you have to use your second hit blind so I cut off the end of your last post since that might never happen since its up to you to make a decision when realising you lost sight of your target, Metsubishi blinds for one post and closing your eyes might lesson irritation but opening them would be a problem and rubbing your eyes might actually be worse when you think about rubbing chilli in that area. So only concern here would be if you would still attack with a blind strike or if you would use that moment to attempt to escape instead of continue blindly. So take it from the point of me launching the weighted portion of my weapon towards your head area going down to chest while you launching a premature low slash to my calf area which is no longer in the location. Anyways sorry my post took so long was struggling to find good fight music, if you have any problems just pm me.

Maigo made his attack towards Elin, after missing his first slash, he continued on. Tenacity and speed drove him forth, he knew that he would be able to easily close the gap between the pair and deliver a slash to Elin’s Achilles tendon, pushing the fight to an end quickly. As he continued to charge forward, he watched as a small black ball fell from Elin’s hand, his sharingan glanced down towards it for a moment to takes its measure. His first thought was that it was a smoke bomb, intended on providing an escape route and clouding Maigo’s vision to attack, a smart move from his analysis. As the ball hit the ground, he hurriedly swung his sword and tried to deliver a quick blow, maybe not at full depth and with all its power but at least to hit something.

Smoke and debris began to rise from the ground where the ball landed, his sword slide by Elin’s leg, hitting nothing but air he was angry, had he waited another fraction of a second to close the distance and make a real strike. It was a blow that could have ended their fight relatively quickly, even if he had to trade blows to do it. But now the cloud of debris, smoke, and powder rose through the air, his original guess at the object being a mere smoke bomb had come to be extremely far off.
The first scent of the debris was rancid, it burned his nostrils as he inhaled it first, then the edge of the quickly forming cloud hit his eyes. The pain therein would create a jolt of awareness most people wouldn’t be ready to handle and he certainly wasn’t ready in his naiveté. He quickly closed his eyes, a desperate attempt to avoid further irritation, he had to quickly make a decision on whether to continue on and try to land a quick blow on Elin. Something he could easily do in his position, though it may give Elin an opening to strike against him, but without his sight how accurate could he really be? His other option would be to back away and try to understand things from a more focused perspective, and let his genjutsu run rampant a bit longer.

Regardless, he had to make a decision quickly, there wasn’t much time to act as he closed and covered his eyes. He went with plan B, sliding his feet to a halt as quickly as he could, balancing his body and jumping directly backwards from where he was. One jump would be enough to get him out of the cloud of debris and smoke, and it clung to his body and clothing, making it look as if he had just exited a mine of some kind. In the brief moments of exiting the cloud he could open his eyes again, barely, the burning and lacerations caused had done their dirty work, and now his sight had been compromised just as his genjutsu had done to Elin. A second jump backwards would clear him of any imminent danger, with the debris cloud blocking his vision, Maigo wouldn’t be able to watch what Elin’s next move was. He could do anything from undoing the genjutsu to preparing another attack, but with his genjutsu active he wasn’t in a position to attack, not yet at least.

Taking his second jump back, his re-arrival to land ended less than pleasantly, not paying attention to what was behind him. In part, from the horrible irritation in his vision, and him focusing too far on the debris cloud and keeping his genjutsu going as a distraction. His landing started with his right foot, stepping down normally, but rolling his heel into a small crevasse created by his chakra crescent only slightly earlier. His momentum carrying him down forward, his weight moving down and back into the pivot of the crack, his left foot didn’t even come back to the ground, the displacement of his body led his upper half to the ground quicker and he reached out his right hand to recover his fall.
It was during the rotation of his upper body and the sliding of his lower body that a crack came, pain shooting into his leg as he lost the grace of his fall. Now crashed to the ground he sprawled to move he leg into a comfortable position and try to ease himself of the pain. He was no doctor, and had almost no medical training, but from the pain, pain from merely rubbing against the afflicted area, he knew that he was looking at least at a fractured bone in his lower leg. But because the leg appeared rigid and not oddly bent, he imagined it wasn’t a complete break and that would be enough to calm his worries about having any major damage to deal with. But now he had to deal with the match and whether to continue on and risk his leg, on the chance to win, if he could even do so anymore. Or to swallow his pride and forfeit from the match? A fate to Maigo worse than being merely beaten, but to risk further injury and his life, on nothing more than a game at this point, it would be a decision he would have to live down and deal with for some time to come.

Luckily for Maigo, the tears and burning from the debris would cover any real tears he might have shown. Closing his eyes for a moment, almost ignoring Elin’s movements at the time, he looked towards the proctor at the edge of the arena and gulped. He set one leg up and pushed off his hands into the air slightly, keeping balance on his left leg and standing up with his pride, his right leg clearly causing him pain, the pain of having it be pulled downward by gravity. He swallowed his pain and his pride and raised his hand, “I’m done, if I continue on I won’t win and only risk further injury. Release Elin from his genjutsu, I’m done here. He said as he looked towards the ground slightly. Part of him wanted to play it off like it was no big deal, but there was no humor to calm his mind at that moment. For it was immediately as he said it and began to hop towards the infirmary that he began to regret his decision, and regret was a thing that Maigo never handled very well.
