Sasijimi

Sasijimi

D-rank
The day was beautiful and there were clouds in the sky, though there was a slight breeze offering a bit of a chill. This was the sort of weather that Sasijimi truly disliked more than most things. He preferred hot and sunny not chilled and cloudy. He could already tell there were things about the land of lightning that he was going to severely dislike, and compare to Sunagakure with a very large amount of scrutiny. Still, it couldn't be helped. This new land he found himself in was the home to many ninja and they had somehow preferred it, though just as he was born in his land and was accustomed to the flaming skies as well as dry heated days even under protection of cloud; they were accustomed to slightly chilled days under many clouds, sometimes there would be storms and it wouldn't be the land of lightning without storm clouds and lightning strikes right? Sasijimi still didn't enjoy the cold, and preferred the heat, but this land would have to do for the time being: especially due to him being in this land for the Chuunin Exams. Sasijimi was not here for the exams as a genin, he was here for the exams  as the next winner and he would do anything to make that a reality.

Sasijimi stood there, just inside the gates of the Kaminari no Kuni border, waving to the other ninja as he entered, having just finished his travels. He was tired from the days he spent traveling, but was up for anything from interacting with someone new, to just taking the time to train a bit and hone his skills up for the exams and to make sure he was able to walk away as the victor of each and every bout he was set to. Sasijimi quietly stepping into a small patch of light where the clouds were sparse and looked up to the sky, shielding his eyes a bit. With the sun on his body, his black shinobi netted shirt showed perfectly in conjunction with the black shinobi tights he wore, accented by white tabi and black sandals that he had traveled so far from home in. There was dust and dirt on his white tabi as well as the sandals he wore. To say nothing of the dirt and dust he had kicked up while running most of the way to kaminari no kuni; now covering the tights he wore up near the knees and on his shins. Not too much that it seemed he was so dirty but enough that someone could tell he had traveled a long way and had not had the opportunity to clean himself up yet.

Sasijimi started walking forward, whilst beginning to move his hands against his tights to touch onto the parts with a bit of dirt and dust upon them, patting gently to begin patting a bit harder to remove the dust and dirt with patting. He would then wipe and try getting the rest of the dust and dirt from his clothing but to no true avail. He sighed and continued walking, ambling around aimlessly for a while, trying to decide when he was going to head into the village to ready for the chuunin exams but for now he was content finding his way around instead of going straight into where it was safe, or where he was supposed to go, rather. Instead of that he had elected to follow the road up until it reached a fork, turning right to go towards a large cliff overlooking a beach being kissed by the waves of the ocean. It was a nice little place with gulls in the distance, a small breeze bringing a wafting scent of sea salt to sasijimi's nostrils. He breathed in deeply, and smiled a bit before walking over to the cliff, looking down off of the edge of said cliff, to the beautiful sandy beach below.

Sasijimi yawned a bit, and stretched his hands above his head, letting his form fall to plop down in a seated position on the edge of the cliff overlooking the sandy beach. He yawned a bit, stretching again before he allowed his body to fall back into a laying position, eyes closed with an arm over his eyes to allow him to begin falling asleep, if only for a moment. He breathed in deeply, clenching his fist softly and then un-clenching it. He sighed because he realized that no matter how tired he was at the current moment, he would not be able to sleep just yet. He was way too excited for the exams and wouldn't be able to sleep without burning off a good amount of energy training, or even sparring someone. He didn't care which one would happen, just wished one of them would happen soon before he died of boredom. With a silent sigh, the man sat up again and pulled himself to his feet, stretching for a third time and twisting himself from left to right on his top half, to pop his back a bit and stretch out the muscles in the back. He turned and put his hands on his hips while looking around, tilting his head, hoping to find someone else coming his way or just anything interesting to be happening. Finding naught just yet he sighed again and put his hands behind his head onto the nape of his neck, craning his head back a bit and looking at the sky as he began to walk again, trying to distract himself from the utter boredom he was feeling and hopefully find a new person to train with or to see another genin in the village hidden in the clouds who had come to this land to enter into the exams and fight against the many who were sure to come. But no matter how many came Sasijimi would be the top competitor and he would send all the other genin home, with their tails between their legs crying about their losses to their parents. He laughed at this thought to himself for a moment before deciding to concentrate on making his way toward the village, essentially giving up on finding someone else.

Bau had spent the remainder of the day after his meeting with Ruvaak preparing his herbs to be turned into nuggets and compressing them down himself. He didn't bother measuring them but really just judged roughly how much a bowl should have by his standards. The seeds he stored separately for later use. All in all it was an entire potato sack full of little green nuggets when he was entirely finished. His part of the field was picked clean and it was time to move on. When the farmer came by on his next run through his own fields he would find Bau gone with just the lean to left there and an empty field. Bau wasn't much of one for words but he wasn't going to leave a mess either. Which also turned out to be easy since he only had what he could easily carry. He slipped into a pair of sandals and tightened his forest green robes and pants. He looked somewhat dirty and unshaven as he slipped into a dark grey coat and placed his striped hat on top of his head to shadow his green eyes. He yawned lazily before a thin hand reached up to scratch at the stubble on his chin like it itched a little. Still he needed to finish packing. He rolled up his bedroll and strapped it over his shoulders like a backpack. Then he strapped his peace tied sword to his right hip and tied the bag of nuggets to his walking stick which he slung over his left shoulder. His long stemmed pipe he pocketed in his coat along with the lighter and set off on his travel to the main village from the outskirts. It took him the rest of the day and that night he slept in a bush but the next day he packed up again as his stomach rumbled. He made it to the village before he was too hungry to think about much else. Still he managed to find a group willing to share some nachos in return for him smoking them out and so Bau the bum smoked out some Kumo civilians.

He was good and stoned as well as stuffed when one of them patted him on the back. They had a hard time understanding him with his thick accent but they managed to get through an offer to him. If he just signed this slip and brought it to the place down the street they would give him a whole box of nachos. Unable to read what he was signing Bau happily took them up on the offer. After all slavery wasn't a thing here as far as he could tell and he didn't have anything like land or money they could lay claim too. He was a hobo after all. Whatever it was they were having him sign up for it would hardly matter to him. So he took the box of nachos and signed the slip before heading off to the chunnin exams sign up building. Unaware that the people he had just smoked out were intending to bet on him losing in the first round and make a bit of money off a hobo that didn't even know what chunnin meant. Still Bau arrived at the building with the sheet in hand and passed it to the man at the counter. It was strange how the man looked him over and nodded about something before asking Bau to do a couple of really basic things like create an energy string and walk on the wall. Something was really odd about these people.

Now he sat a couple of hours later leaning back against his blanket roll under a tree just outside the village. his left leg was stretched out while his right leg was bent at the knee and his foot against the ground. The sack sat to his left and his sword under it. His stick rested on the ground to his right. In his mouth was a lit long stemmed pipe with a bit of herb packed into it to which he happily smoked as he tried to study the strange document he had been given. The Nachos forgotten behind the blanket roll.for the time being. The document was some sort of acceptance for him to participate in the chunnin something or another. It had the same markings on it as the building did (The seal of the chunnin exams) but the issue was Bau had never really received an education. Fishing had been an honest enough trade even if he did hate it and war....war had never needed educated individuals. It just needed strong arms and young men willing to die for someone else. Bau sighed as he looked at the symbols again and again trying to translate it for the twentieth time. The first symbol had to be dragon...or donut...or damnation maybe? He really couldn't even begin to read the damn thing.

Still he flopped his head back against the bed roll once more as he gave up almost forgetting his pipe. Luckily it remained right side up as he puffed on it some more until the bowl died. He had no idea what he had just agreed to. He just knew someone would likely find him when it was time to do whatever it was he had just agreed to do. Far as he figured it was some sort of exam. Citizenship maybe? He sure hoped not..he didn't want to be tied down to any one country anyway. But an exam....He wasn't exactly book smart. What were those nice fellas trying to get him to do? Should he go back and ask what kind of exam it was? Or what chunnin meant? No no no he couldn't do that. He would look the fool and he was much to proud for that. Still the weed was awesome and soon his frown and furrowed brow turned into a relaxed smile and lazy eyes.

Sasijimi eventually stepped into the gates of Kumogakure no sato, looking around to see the hustle and bustle of many ninja from different countries coming into the village to report they had arrived for the exams or simply spectating it, whatever their reason they had come from near and far to this place in the spirit of togetherness to watch the best genin from all around compete to become the strongest to bring prestige and honor to their homeland. He wasn't sure what to do once he entered the shopping district ,and so he just stayed as a part of the crowd, making his way out to the place where everyone seemed to be going: the administrative wing of the Kage's district. This village was large, maybe larger than Sunagakure and it would be quite easy for the genin to get lost if he weren't following the throngs of other genin making their way to the sign in booths situated along the street, each one with the sign for their respective villages, along a road which led to the sign up building and general check in place for everyone who was competing. Passing by the other genin stopping to sign up late, he made his way into the administrative chuunin exams building, stepping into line to one of the counters, waiting on it to move forward so he could check in and get on with the rest of his day. He sighed, as it seemed with how long the line was this was going to take hours. Out of the corner of his eye he saw an older man in green robes at the sign up booth turning in a form, then heading back out of the building in to the streets outside. Sasijimi pushed him out of his mind for the time being.

After a good twenty or so minutes it was finally his turn to step up to the counter and the lady behind it gave him a slow look over before she looked down at a piece of paper, asking a few questions. "Name?" Without missing a beat he answered almost immediately. "Mitarashi, Sasijimi of Sunagakure no Sato." She nodded and wrote this information down before moving on. "Specialization and elements?" He rubbed his chin in thought about the weapons he had ordered that were surely on their way here at this very moment and replied with earnest to the woman behind the counter. "Ninjutsu and Onojutsu are my specializations and my elements are Katon and Fuuton. In that order." She nodded and again wrote this information onto her forms, turning to look at another paper before asking him the final two questions she would need for her work to be done for the day, as he was last in line. "Age and clan name?" He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck which prompted her to react by looking up at him over problematic glasses that had crescent moon shapes to them. He quietly let his arm fall down before he answered her, in a bit of a disappointed tone. "My age is twenty-two years old and my clan name is the same as my last; Mitarashi. We're a small clan and the only other members I have known were part of my nomadic tribe, they're no longer with us." She nodded and stamped the paper three times, turning it around and sliding it across the counter to him for his signature in print and Kanji. He did both of them and then returned the pen and paper to her and she looked it over before nodding. "Thank you for checking in, you'll be given more information as we get closer to the date of the exams. Enjoy your stay in the village hidden in the clouds."He smiled and bowed to here before walking out of the adminstrative building.

Upon exiting the administrative building for registration and sign in to the exams he looked around, spotting the man in green robes from before. His head tilted as he looked at the male in his relaxed position on a..bed roll? With a shrug he walked forward, avoiding bumping into others as he made his way across the district to what he perceived was a man on his bed out a ways from the exams building. He stopped and looked down at the man, observing how he looked. He was in what looked to be a very relaxed position upon a bedroll, one leg bent at the knee, and the other stretched out. He had a happy look on his face, but somehow his eyes looked droopy and sleepy as if he had taken a nap and not gotten the needed amount of sleep to be fully awake. But there was also a strange smell about him. Not one of filth, or of someone who had not bathed in a long time, but a skunky smell with a hint of something that had been burning. He cleared his throat softly before he spoke up, offering a smile to the other man. "Hello sir, I don't mean to be rude or intrusive but I saw you in the exams registration center and  couldn't help but come speak to you. That is a rather interesting smell you have about you, and I don't mean to be rude, but what is it? It's rather noxious, or shall I say: strong." He'd hoped he was being too forward but his curiosity on this would certainly not be sated until he uncovered this mystery. The smell was persistent, and he was trying to pinpoint it to something specific, maybe he'd smelled it before?

Bau tilted from his thoughts as the sound of a throat clearing came to his attention. One hand with long fingers lifted to push back his green and white strapped hat just enough to reveal shadowed but bright green eyes. His gaze held power but patience in it. Still one white brow rose into white bangs as the young man across the way from him began to speak. It was an educated sounding individual across from him but the accent sounded ever so slightly different. Was he not a Kumo citizen or shinobi? Or maybe he just talked funny. Either way it was difficult to tell the difference. The only reason Bau noticed it was because of the years he had spent recovering in Kumo and listening. If one could barely move one learned to observe more. After all it wasn't often that you were forced to actually sit back and truly look at a thing. Still the topic the boy chose was an interesting one. He wanted to talk about how Bau smelled of all things. Whoever this kid was he sure got lucky picking Bau. Someone else might of taken something like that personal. Instead Bau decided to be amused with it. Slowly he sat up and hunched over his legs as he sat cross legged and eyed the boy across from him with his right eye close lazily and his left eye half open. Then he lifted his left arm and lowered his head to sniff once or twice before looking back up at the young man as if surprised. When he spoke...his accent was thick but clear enough to be understood with little effort.

"Smell? Oy ye mean the smell of man lad? Well ye see laddy, when a man perspires the scent carries aye? We calls it musk where I be from hehehe. Ah I be messin with ye boy. I know what ye mean. This here herb is a lovely little thing see. This here be known by many a name lad and changes based on who ye ask. Some call it de assassin of youth, the Bamba or Bammies if yer buying the low quality crap I dun ever grow. No? Mary Jane? Blunts?  Marijuana my friend. Da green that makes ye feel like a king. Have ye never had any boy? Well if ye haven't then ye best be sittin next ta old Bau here for yer education hehehe. I will pack ye a bowl here."

He picked up his stick and moved it to his other side with his other things and cleared a space next to him before reaching into his potato bag and pulling out another nug. This one he made sure was nice and sticky with good size to it and a potent scent. He sniffed it and whistled as if he just expected the young man to take the offered seat before Bau picked up his long stemmed pipe and packed the nug into the bowl. He set about making sure it was packed in there nice and tight before he looked up again and looked to the young man indicating to watch by wiggling the pipe a little. "Alrighty...lets begin the lesson..hold da pipe in yer hand like so and keep the stem in yer mouth. Plug da hole on da side and use dis lighter here to do as old Bau does..den release your thumb as you inhale. ye? Just watch old Bau and be ready to do da same." With that Bau stuck the end of the stem between his lips and used his lighter to light the bowl while keeping the hole plugged as he inhaled. His lighter clicked off as his thumb lifted from the hole on the side of the bowl and he sucked in a good lung full before holding it as his eyes watered and he passed the pipe. When he did let out a sizable cloud he did so while coughing. The potent stench filling the air more so then it had before as Bau grinned like an idiot showing surprisingly white teeth. Once he finished coughing he managed out a struggled noise of "Now you lad."
